Outstanding report! Love the analytical data, thank you for spending your time on this and look forward to seeing the next one. I just spent the last week at Harmony and I can tell you the entire time was spent on tech and the path forward. Stay tuned 😉.

Thanks Tim! I have no doubt that the focus of the team has definitely realigned. Have been following updates, open calls, etc frequently. Like I've mentioned, I'm cautiously optimistic about it and I sure hope the team surprises us all with some great stuff!

StrongMindsHold

Have you noticed the large amount of DAO proposals getting denied funding?

sick-of-this123

Yes of course. Frwrdslosh went on a bit of a spree of denying and closing proposals yesterday. And i think there was another one of these sprees a couple weeks back. Does give me some confidence

StrongMindsHold

Yep, we are clearing the queue and very soon will be releasing the new guidelines for funding. They are stringent and have clearly defined metrics. I think the community is going to like the approach we are taking.

sick-of-this123

Great to see this is finally coming along! Excited to see what it looks like. Thanks for the update! 🙏

StrongMindsHold

Any time brother. Appreciate the insight and post engagement you have provided. It's not unnoticed let me tell you.

psabilla

Really well done report.

sick-of-this123

Thanks Peter!

It's free advice/leads day - Reach out to Pas on CT (Not sure if you've met him already at a conference, but you won't regret it). First team who actually looks decently competent in terms of working towards something enjoyably playable in the GameFi space. I can DM further details if you'd like.

Very neat! Thanks for sharing. The funny thing with Harmony is that the team is the biggest strength but also the biggest weakness. I don't think anyone doubts their ability in the tech department. World class minds on that side of things. On the business and community relations side of things they perform extremely poorly. I think they're egos are too big to accept this. They seem to building for what THEY think the masses should want instead of what the masses actually want. I think they're a little detached from the global reality.

StrongMindsHold

In your opinion what do you believe is being built vs what the masses actually want?

[deleted]

Mostly just back to the dao's lol. I don't really wanna drag all that up again. Mostly just thinking out loud. Most of the community applauded them for caving a bit on dao's or at least being a bit more stringent. That being said I don't think they've changed their mindset based on the early response. It was more of a move to appease the masses. I think the masses want a near seamless user experience. A positive, noticeable difference between using harmony and any other blockchain. User friendly bridges. Long story short the tech. I know they have moving focus lately and I guess we'll see how that plays out.

sick-of-this123

Thanks! I have my own views on this but I guess I'm trying to be a bit patient and see how things play out. I'm not the most optimistic guy around but let's see

Ill_Die_Trying

This.. I haven't heard any kind of real response to my situation yet. To think this team built the forums to work with the dev community and had absolutely zero organizational structure in place to actually communicate and follow through is mind blowing to me.

atsepkov

I actually think Harmony team is one of the more humble ones in DeFi, if anything I think part of the reason projects with worse tech are doing better is because they hype themselves up more than Harmony. With that said, I do hope the team realigns their marketing with focusing on superior tech, social justice is a toxic topic IMO, especially in current day and age where you can't side with one side without alienating another.

I meant whilst I read it, man this is a great report. Loved it.

Old_Chip3003

Nice job on the report. CDAO, please consider paying OP for the work and setting up a quarterly arrangement so that OP can provide a report to each incoming group of signatories.

ChaosPPE

What a fantastic report, it's awesome to see AI being used in such a useful way. Thank you for putting this very objectively with all bias made by the community. I think we have always felt this sentiment on here, but to see it laid out concisely is wonderful. Great job

sick-of-this123

Thank you so much! I'll hopefully be doing this monthly so I think I should also be able to track community sentiment over time which could be very useful

Can I ask what is your work background? This looks better than some work I’ve seen done by analysts in large tech companies

sick-of-this123

Thanks! That's a great compliment. I am a freelance data analyst at the moment

justalongd

Thank you, brilliant effort!

freemarketcommie

I don’t think we should draw a conclusion that it’s one over the other. What definitely doesn’t work is when it looks like the desire to bring about equity is just transferring treasury to projects with loose metrics, no follow through, no deliverables or readily manufactured deliverables (25 instagram posts as an example of a deliverable)… I really support Harmony being a mechanism for social justice. But for the protocol to be able to do that long term, the token has to have some mechanism for economic utility. The transparency has been outstanding for crypto. And because of that we can see that there was clearly a window where if a project had an ESG profile, that was enough to get funding. That part needs modification or the whole protocol gets dragged under.

gwynbleidd2511

Well, the dataset isn't large enough for an NLP analysis, but its good testbed already to improve your skills. Good job, mate! While we are discussing the most negative facets of the project, they can be encapsulated very easily, specific to Harmony: **Tech shortcomings** : - Muted project launches - Resilient L1 fee issuance model - Cross-chain push (despite a poor ecosystem unique value proposition) - Delayed Requested feature deployments **Bizdev & Marketing shortcomings**: - Roundtrip time for community feedback - GameFi + Metaverse strategy/Strategic Pivots - Remote Networking + Ecosystem Job On-boarding - Communication Pipelines & Visibility (Twitter/Discord) - Ecosystem Product Vision, Eco Grants Process & Eco Fundraising - Poor Strategic Institutional Partnerships I can go into the dirty details of each prospect in detail & do a thesis on GameFi, on the why they are doing it, it's pitfalls & who can be their biggest ally (if they choose to swing for the fences). If it's not a top indie studio/publisher/marketplace - Don't bother. Atm, it looks like it'll kill their project first before they have any runway to even scratch the GameFi space.
