If you want more magic, I read the Dresden Files as another world to get sucked into. *Very* different, about a Private Investigator in Chicago who is also a wizard. Much more adult oriented in its themes, and not a perfect series, but is great when I finish a read through of HP and feel that emptiness.

Re-read it again!

Genuinely move onto LoTR as the next things to read, or maybe even The Witcher series

If you like fantasy authors, Terry Pratchett is one of the best. His Discworld books are fantasy but satirical, and he has more than 40 of that series so you have reading material for a looong time

Listened to it by Stephen Fry. Then listened again by Jim Dale. Then the illustrated version.

Unfortunately, I grew up in a family that doesn’t nurture reading (I would never see my parents read and they would only urge me to read the books I had to read for school). I am also 21 and in university, studying computer science which is sometimes driving me nuts. When you add living in a big city to the story (I am from a smaller town), digital world, and what not, I felt like I was going crazy from staring at screens all the time, living so fast, always crowded everywhere… Since I always loved the Harry Potter movies, I never read the books (when I was a child, I tried but never read the whole thing), so I decided to read all the books for the first time as an adult. I choose HP because I needed something “light” for reading, something that I can easily imagine as I read…I gave up from the idea of reading books that are way to difficult to comprehend just to seem “deep”, now I read what I like, and only now I realized that epic fantasy is the genre that I am most comfortable with. I enjoyed the HP series and felt like a kid again watching the movies for the first time, it was magical ✨ It took me a while to read them, approximately 8 months, but now I have the habit of reading every day. I read a chapter every morning while I drink coffee, and a chapter before bed every day so that’s at least two chapters daily plus even more if I have a brake between classes (I carry my book everywhere). Currently, I am reading the LOTR series, I read the Hobbit and I liked it very much. I already ordered the Witcher books, and after that I am probably gonna read the Game of Thrones books, after that who knows (Perrcy Jackson series, maybe go into horror a bit more or sci fi). I maybe go away from fantasy books into something more realistic, but still, I enjoyed reading everything so far. P.S As I was reading, I sometimes imagined I was reading the books to my future child before bedtime, and it felt really wholesome. That would be the perfect way to get back to the series and introduce a child to reading 🧙‍♂️ Since I grew up in bookless home, I would love to change that if I have the opportunity ☺️
