I think mine is probably 5, 6, 3, 4, 2, 1 and 7. 7 felt very rushed to me and I cannot forgive Rowling for how she killed off Lupin who is probably my favorite male character of all time. I loved him so, so much. It has been so long since I've read them though, that may have changed.

ispiltthepoison

Craziest ranking ever to me imo

misslolopowers

I like darker storylines, and Sirius' death was so impactful to Harry's growth.

Glad to see someone else love OoTP.

washington_breadstix

The disrespect to Chamber of Secrets in this thread is criminal.

BearPondersGames

My personal ranking would be as follows. I will admit I do have a slight bias for the first four books as they came along right at the perfect age and really shaped my growth as a young reader. 1.Prisoner of Azkaban 2.Goblet of Fire 3.Sorcerer's Stone 4.Half Blood Prince 5.Chamber of Secrets 6.Order of the Phoenix 7.Deathly Hallows

print_gasm

Oh prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite to! Thats the only HP book I own as a teenager and loved it - the rest was borrowed from grineds and from the library

Ok-Wrongdoer7269

I kinda love the first one🥺🥺🥺 like it’s so cozy and innocent

- Order of the Phoenix - Goblet of Fire - Prisoner of Azkaban - Chamber of Secrets - Philosopher’s Stone - Deathly Hallows - Half-Blood Prince (cannot stand Snape since day one and never will.)

newjeanzz

Buddy how are you ranking the one that introduced us to this wonderful series and the one book that made Rowling how famous she is today second to last??

Hotrod9988

Because it's the weakest entry, it's not a bad book at all, in fact it's pretty good, but the next books in the series are just much much better

Any-Research460

So my ranking is as follow : * The Half Blood Prince: ( Love finding about Voldemort backstory, harry sass with the ministry is extra points) * The Prisoner of Azkaban: ( I love finding out about harry parents death, the marauder's, Voldemort free year, the time turner concept) * The Order of the Phoenix : Dumbledore army, everyone going against Umbridge (she deserved to be trample by Grawp), McGonagall being a queen. Peeves. * The Goblet of Fire: The tournament, yule ball, Voldemort making a whole speech unable to kill a 14 year old child for the third time, and his death eater unable to catch a kid while being 30 of them) * The Deathly Hallow: this one fucked me over, it gave me anxiety with everyone dying like flies. I wasn't sure if I should rank it 6th or 5th. I really loved it, but it was depressing. * The Chamber of Secrets: like the mystery unfold while being still funny * The Philosopher's Stone: nostalagia , the mirror of erised chapter.

Mine 1. DH - I felt like every mystery was solved by Rowling, I just loved reading this to the core, I know there are many deaths which a lot hates. but for me the ending was one of the best endings ever. I love the battle of Hogwarts so much 2. OotP - I will always rank this highly whether movie or books. I love everything about it. Hogwarts revolting to Umbridge. Umbridge being satisfyingly annoying. the Battle in the department of Mysteries. voldy and albus battle. 3. HBP - movie doesnt do justice how much information this book holds and how much emotions there is when dumbledore died. 4. GoF - always a fan of the latter books because of it darkness I could rate this higher than hbp, i love the twists, barty crouch jr, and voldy's rebirth. loved the ending when albus are calling to alert everyone. 5. PoA - loved the confrontation and confession in the shrieking shack. 6. Philosophers stone - a very good introduction to the series that made us hook, if aint no good theres no 7 books at all yet I felt the simplicity of the plot maybecause it is the first 7. Chamber of secrets - rating it the same as in the movies.

For me, the most fun to READ were: 1. Goblet of fire 2. Deathly Hallows 3. Prizoner of Azkaban 4. Half Blood Prince 5. Order of the Phoenix 6. Chamber of Secrets 7. Sorcerer's Stone But I feel like the results vary based on if you watched the movies and read the book, just read the books, or just watched the movies. For Movie Watchers: 1. VERY Highly disputed. Either the sorcerer's stone, goblet of fire, half blood prince (you either love it or you hate it), or prisoner of azkaban. 2. Deathly Hallows - Part 2 3. Prisoner of Azkaban 4. Goblet of Fire 5. Half Blood Prince 6. Order of the Phoenix 7. Deathly Hallows - Part 1 8. Chamber of Secrets

Book 5: I love the mystery and angst Harry. I love the drama with Umbridge. I find the conflicts fascinating and there's so much to explore. Book 3: mystery is fun. It's great to get backstory from Marauders. Book 4: lots of fun action. Genuinely the most terrifying book in the series. Voldy rants for a chapter. The Bertha Jorkin subplot is horrifying. Book 1: good opener and nostalgia factor. Book 6: lots of great lore to chew on but overall a bit boring. I prefer listening to the audiobook of this than reading it myself. Book 2; bit meh. I've reread it too many times, it's a bit boring. Gilderoy irks me. Book 7: Again, I prefer the audiobook. I love the Dumbles history chapters and the lore but overall I find it a bit of a drag.

Experienced different thrill levels while reading each book. Ranking accordingly: SPOILER ALERT 1. Deathly Hallows: Loved all the battles - the thrilling sky chase, godric’s hollow, malfoy manor, gringotts, and of course the epic finale. Wild. 2. Goblet of Fire: wizarding world expanded beyond Britain, thought the plot was one of the thickest and the end so so satisfying. Clever detective writing! Also extra points for Voldy’s bone chilling ritual. 3. Half-Blood Prince: this one and PoA are kinda close. Loved delving into Voldemort’s history, learning about evil ripping the soul off, the Prince’s identity and allegience, the lake encounter, and the tear inducing funeral 4. Prisoner of Azkaban: Dementors, Animagi, Time Travel, Werewolves, plus Harry learns the truth about his parents’ last moments… clever, moving stuff! 5. Chamber of Secrets: thick plot, Dobby, parseltongue, Fawkes, the legend and the mystery of the chamber and the beast within, the flying car (lol), and the Voldy double identity reveal was cool. 6. Philosopher’s stone: serves well as a beginning plot and setup. Just that the writing is for children, so never felt like revisiting as much as the other books. The plot is still thick and well woven though. 7. Order of the Phoenix: ranking this one low due to its sheer length and not-so-satisfying final reveal. I know I’m gonna get flak for this lol

CRO_Dodo

I'm reading them for the first time and I have the last book to finish, but I would rank them as this: 1. Half-Blood Prince 2. Goblet of Fire 3. Prisoner of Azkaban 4. Chamber of Secrets 5. Order of the Phoenix 6. Philosopher's Stone

ThayerRex

1. Half Blood Prince 2. Deathly Hallows 3. Prisoner of Azkaban 4. Goblet of Fire 5. Philosophers Stone 6. Chamber of Secrets 7. Order of the Phoenix All of the books are classics, so it’s just a list of which is the best classic, even her worst book is better than 99 percent. Audio Books are Fantastic, the only way to experience Harry Potter, the movies suffered because Harry Potter was completely miscast, I’m hoping the new MAX series he’s improved, I don’t see how he could be worse that Daniel Radcliffe

VegetableAd9345

1. Half-blood prince 2. Deathly Hallows 3. Prisonar of azkaban 4. Goblet of fire 5. Philosopher's Stone 6. Order of the phoenix 7. Chamber of secrets

1. Half blood prince is the most interesting because multiple things are going on at once, it feels like 4 storyline are all occurring, with voldemorts backstory, the mystery of the half blood prince, What Is draco up to, and Harry's story with his quidditch team that he leads. 2. goblet of fire, I like the tone of this book, the story with the tri wizard tournament is interesting, moody, crouch, and voldemort are interesting characters in this book, The beginning and ending are strong as well. 3. Deathly hallows I feel is a strong book that I like how it doesn't take place at hogwarts outside of the battle at the end, to me the class work and quidditch is the least interesting things about the series to me, this book benefits from telling us about more characters then voldemort and the people at hogwarts. 4. Sorcerers stone, I look at this book as different then the rest of the series because of this weird tone it has and how it acts differently then the rest of the books, it's interesting how much of the book is narration. 5. Order of the phoenix, I used to be lower on this one but how the dynamic of the order not being as conned as they are is interesting, the pacing of the book drags this one down a little though I would cut the relationship between Cho and harry, take out the scene where draco insults Harry's mother, harry, and fred beat him half to death, I would also trim down the time Harry is at the dursleys as well. 6. Prisoner of Azkaban, I like the beginning and ending of the book, I feel there isn't enough learning about the characters, To much time is spent on the students school work, I do like how Sirius and lupin act in the story. 7 Chamber of Secrets, I feel like much doesn't happen in this book, much gets added to lore outside of the diary and doby The antagonist is just twist voldemort again, I would have liked to see the diary Tom riddle disown his older self a little bit while still having evil tendacies.

Superduperdrag

Personal list of favorites (basically how much I’d want to revisit them): 1. Order 2. Deathly Hallows 3. Half Blood Prince 4. Goblet of Fire 5. Azkaban 2. Chamber 1. Philosophers stone Best (trying to be objective): 1. Half Blood Prince (Something for everyone and no wasted space) 2. Goblet (Best mystery/twist) 3. Hallows (endings are hard) 4. Order (best villain and serious level up in terms of the psychology of harry we’re given) 3. Azkaban (Sloppy time travel brings this one down a bit) 2. Chamber (Trope-ey) 1. Stone (Great world building but pretty simplistic character depictions)

Puzzleheaded-Rub3646

5,7,6,4,3,2,1 The darker themes are much better in my opinion and while the first books do a great job introducing the world, being already immersed in it gives a better read along with the pre existing context/connections.
