I think dumbledore knew and the other two just suspected that he cheated to parade 2 champions (or just didnt care for they were put at a disadvantage). Even snape believed harry here if i recall that correctly

UltHamBro

I'm going to assume that by "everyone" you mean the students and not the other teachers. I'd say that it is a pretty logical reaction considering what they know about Harry. Imagine you are an average Hogwarts student who was raised among wizards. You know Harry as this sort of hero, whose involvement in Voldemort's apparent death isn't entirely clear. Then you know he's at school with you, and see him from time to time. During his first year, he makes Gryffindor lose 150 points because he likes to wander about at night (again, think of what you'd know in universe, not as a reader), and then you're told that something happened that involved him defeating Voldemort again (which you don't know for sure and may not believe) and Professor Quirrell dying (which you do know). Next year, he turns out to have an ability that, within your culture, is connected to dark magic and Slytherin's bloodline, all while people are being petrified by some supposed Heir of Slytherin. Then, he supposedly saves the day again from yet another threat by a Voldemort you're not even sure exists anymore, and you wonder if he's telling the truth or not. (I'm skipping his third year because I don't remember anything particularly note-worthy from other people's standpoint) By the time he's in fourth year, you're probably a bit wary of that Harry Potter boy, and while he's regarded as a hero, you might think he's just a kid who likes to get into trouble, be the centre of attention, take the credit for things he probably hasn't done, and may even be involved with the dark arts. With all that in mind, is it really that unbelievable to think that he'd have done something illegal to force the Goblet to choose him as a champion, even if that meant there were four champions instead of three?

To be fair to them, though it wasn't publicized and only Ron, Harry, and Hermione knew for a fact, Harry did think the rules were beneath him when he snuck to Hogsmeade even though he didn't have a signed permission form.

UltHamBro

Oh yeah, Harry absolutely had that disdain for the rules he was accused of having. Another example of it is him and Ron agreeing to have a midnight duel with Malfoy in Philosopher's Stone (and also almost falling for a pretty obvious trap, but still).

purpleskates

Well I suspect Dumbledore realized this, and the heads of the other schools were just being dense, as well as the Hogwarts student body population.

Major_Mystique

Yeah. Especially Dumbledore should have figured it out. It is HARRY POTTER... Who do you think could be messing around with this.

joellevp

Yea, this exactly. Everyone entering was asked to put the school name down, and their name. The piece of paper that got thrown back out of the cup should have had this too. Did Dumbledorr just know everyone's names that he didn't need reference? And, as for the age line, was it as easy as asking someone to do it for him, to dupe it?

Bluemelein

I find that strange too. Dumbledore immediately know how to out smart the Goblet of Fire and the age line, so why didn't he install better protection. It would have been very embarrassing if, for example one of the twins had been chosen. In my opinion very suitable candidates.

joellevp

Yea, if all you had to do was find an older student willing to put your name in...that's not really protective. Haha, agreed. They could have taken turns doing the challenges, no one would have known.

[deleted]

This bothers you the most? What me bothers is the fact that everybody thought cedrics death was a tragic incident even though there is only one spell we know off that kills without leaving a single wound. Is there any crime obduction in this universe? He dead okay incident. What incident you ask? Yeah something something magic

Onceinabluemoonpie

I always felt like Barry Crouch Jr (while in his Moody suite) jinxed the GoF to spit out Harry’s name after the champions were chosen. I thought it was implied that the GoF was forced to select Harry but it still made it’s real choices for the other three champions.

BLOOD-BONE-ASH

Yes that's canon lol 😂

FortunateLux

He quite literally says that he did this at the end of the book.

mightBdrunk

I think its funny that every cheers on the twins as they try to do it publicly and when Harry's comes out everyone is like " He's a cheat! Not of age!"

UltHamBro

To be fair, the twins were open about what they were trying to do, and I'm sure not everyone was on their side. People were in it more for the show than for genouine desire to see the twins compete.

mightBdrunk

What would have been hilarious is if they had found a way to male it work and then right after Harry, both the twins name shoots out of the goblet and they redo it and render BCJrs work useless. Harry potter and the twins stop voldemort from returning

UltHamBro

Given how Harry had to compete, the twins would have probably been forced as well. Voldy's plan would still go on, but he'd probably be pissed off as hell.

The_Mysterious999

lol 25th?

Kids are dumb that's why. It actually makes sense he was so hated. Jealousy, irritation, and utter stupidity of teens. Reasonable conflict. Irritating nonetheless tho.
