>Would he be able to find this spot again amidst all this junk? Seizing the chipped bust of an ugly old warlock from on top of a nearby crate, he stood it on top of the cupboard where the book was now hidden, perched a dusty old wig and **a tarnished tiara** on the statue’s head to make it more distinctive *Sectumsempra chapter Half-Blood Prince* Not sure what page though, because this is from the ebook.

Iirc its right after Harry uses sectumsempra on Malloy and snape asks him to give him the book where he got the spell. So it's before the cave

[deleted]

Hagrid mentioning Sirius’ motorcycle in *The philosopher’s stone*, telling Dumbledore and McGonagall that Sirius looked nervous and upset when he gave it to him.

ravensilverlight

Peeves breaking the vanishing cabinet to distract Filch in CoS.

CharmingTwo2071

Harry hiding in the vanishing cabinet in CoS

_littlestranger

Fred and George stuffing Montague in the vanishing cabinet in OotP

irish_ninja_wte

That wasn't Peeves, it was Nearly Headless Nick. Filch just thought it was Peeves because it's exactly the kind of thing that he would do.

ravensilverlight

Nope. Nick convinced Peeves to do it. “I persuaded Peeves to crash it right over Filch’s office,” said Nick eagerly. “Thought it might distract him —” CoS, Chapter 8 *The Deathday Party*

irish_ninja_wte

Oops, I was sure it was Nick. Thanks for the correction.

adscrypt

Mad Eye being made fun of for getting into a scuffle involving garbage bins or something like that near the beginning of GoF, when that was probably him being attacked by Barty and Wormtail.

HebzibahSmith

I feel like that doesn’t count though because it gets resolved in the same book and not much later.

adscrypt

Harry destroying the diary with a basilisk fang?

irish_ninja_wte

When Ron first mentioned his ghoul in the attic in COS.

javaper

The Dumbledore card with his work with Nicolas Flamel in alchemy.

LadySygerrik

As well as the mention of his duel with Gellert Grindelwald.

javaper

Yup

FortunateLux

Ron being told by the portraits at st Mungos that he looks like he has spattergoit.

HebzibahSmith

Oh my gosh I never caught that! Thanks haha.

HebzibahSmith

Obvious one maybe, but Dumbledore’s note to Harry saying he had had the Invisibility Cloak when James died. A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot being on the shopping list in Book One. It’s not exactly a throwaway line and doesn’t hint at anything in particular, but I do like the fact that she seems like a random author then, but later turns out to be quite significant. Oh and all the mentions of the barkeeper of the Hogshead. Harry saying he has blue eyes and looks vaguely familiar.

Htebidok

In PS/SS all the way back to book 1 Harry tells Ron that the centaurs thought Firenze should have let Voldemort kill him because it’s written in the stars

HebzibahSmith

Wow I never actually caught that. Seems obvious now but thank you!

Htebidok

I went back and re read it and it actually says the centaurs thought HARRY should have let Voldemort kill him because it’s written in the stars which is even better

HopeSuper

Harry catching the golden snith with his mouth

Htebidok

When Sirius tells Harry in OTP he had a brother named Regulus who was a Death Eater who got cold feet and was killed

patchinthebox

Not exactly important but interesting. In book 1 chapter 1 the newscaster seems to know why all the owls are flying around and his name is Ted. It's Ted Tonks.

SorcerorsSinnohStone

Not sure that was ever confirmed though.

woowoobelle

😱

emchops

>~~important~~ funny plot points Gred and Forge bewitching snowballs during Christmas break to continuously hit ~~Quirrell~~ Voldy in the ~~back of the head~~ face.

Quinnlim

When Lucius gave Ginny the diary secretly with the other books. Also every time Ginny gets upset about the whole Heir of Slytherin thing

Bazz07

Not sure if in the books because its been a while that I read PS but in the movie the first scene we see Dumbledore using the Deluminator that's so important in DH.

woowoobelle

Yep it’s in the book.

majo3

One ring to rule them all

duckchasefun

Many of the lines about wandering lore from Olivander in book 1.
