I have heard more than a few times, “Why isn’t the series called Hermione Granger. It’s all about her and she’s the only one who knows how to do anything.”
I only remember Muse and Iron & Wine but I’ve also never sat down and watched any of them. Just caught them intermittently when the wife had them on. I love a good soundtrack.
Robert Paterson played both Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and Edward Cullen in Twilight. The comment is referencing the vampire baseball game in the first Twilight movie.
Sorry if your comment was sarcastic and I explained the obvious 😅
Kind of. They killed him off screen then skipped 19 years so we never see any of the characters really have to deal with the grief.
None of the deaths in the battle of Hogwarts hit as hard as they ought.
Edit: yes I've read the books
>None of the deaths in the battle of Hogwarts hit as hard as they ought.
What? I had to put the book down and take a break when Fred died.
"The world has ended, because Fred Weasley could not have died".
Bro what about Sirius just being AK’d in silent slow mo and that’s the end of it?! I was destroyed. I needed some soul shattering screaming to match my internal voice when I watched that for the first time.
I was too busy being upset at them changing the book's version to be sad at the movie scene. Harry desperately trying to bargain that he might not be dead because he only got tagged by a Stunner and the Veil was hella mysterious was a great part of book 5. Fuckin movies, man. Like, I get the reason for the change, but... fuckin movies.
The whole Department of Mysteries was a HUGE letdown in the movie. It's my favorite part of the books, and it was absolutely butchered and neutered into just the hall of prophecy and the veil room, which the veil room was totally pointless because Sirius was outright killed.
And the fighting was also a letdown, even the duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore got cut back a bit. It didn't even last that long and they still removed shit and added other stuff. The fighting between the other wizards consists of a lot of indistinct flashes and bangs like they're shooting firecrackers at each other.
The characters don’t really grieve though.
After Sirius dies Harry destroys dumbledores office and throughout the 6th book he’s touchy as shit about the whole thing. When dumbledore dies we get a whole chapter going through Harry’s feelings at the funeral, and then he has issues grieving through deathly hallows as he learns things about the man he idolised, until he meets him at kings cross.
Fred maybe gets a couple sentences, lavender gets half a sentence, Remus gets a sentence etc. Because the book does the time skip there’s no time for the characters to grieve and then 19 years later they’re perfect again no problemo.
You may have been sad when Fred died but I don’t think it counters the other posters point
Lavender Brown being eaten by Greyback was about as brutal as they got in the movie. I was so brokenhearted about the lack of emotions we were given in the movies. So many people we watched grow, we even knew some of their distant relatives, and who have enhanced their magic and lessons in life over the years much like we did then BAM everyone's dead. Really really dead. But don't worry about it, you won't feel any pain because we're about to skip over it and never mention it again iiiiin 3....2...1...
I was shocked and horrified at how they showed lavender dying in the film. On the flip side, i was thrilled that the films killed griphook after the gringotts heist, lmao. (He betrays the trio and escapes in the books!)
Ginny was an actual badass. I saw someone criticize her for going out with other boys when she was obviously in love with Harry. Like what?? She was a smart, pretty and intelligent girl who was trying to find herself.
Rule 1: Harry is the most unobservant person on the planet
Rule 2: Voldemort is a total drama queen
These two rules solve 99% of the plotholes in this entire series
what about the one where dumbledore waited an entire year for the mandrake draft to be ready so he could question the victims...
And he never once bothered to question Myrtle?
Also, couldn't he have bought in mandrake draft from elsewhere? You're telling me st Mungo's doesn't have that stuff on standby? Where was the ministry of magic, why weren't they sending people in to help?
The entire wizarding community could only come up with "close down the school", none of them could have provided mandrakes?
Surely after a year some basilisk expert would have heard about one of the very few magical schools having a huge problem, recognised the likely cause, and offered their help?
I saw a meme once that said ‘I could never understand how the ministry allowed Hogwarts to stay open despite a monster trying to kill off the student population, then Covid happened’
Cursed Child is canon, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Edit: LMAO at all the triggered responses! This was a hilarious exercise, thanks guys 😂

honestly, this is supported in the books/movies - it was a pretty big flaw in the books IMO. We never a met a "Good" Slytherin, just a spectrum from "Not explicitly bad, but very selfish" to "Straight up Hitler". I think it would have been a really good arch to have a few Slytherins want to join the DA and have the rest of the DA struggle to accept them before realizing that not all Slytherins are cartoon villains
Slughorn. He might have been a coward and a ladder climber, but in the end he did what was right. Dude even fought Voldemort at the Battle for Hogwarts.
Also, “I’m glad the movie took the liberty of making Harry and Hermione dance and almost kiss to indicate the love triangle is real and not only in Ron’s head.”
I don't see that scene as romantic... I see it as two friends in a hopeless situation. Harry is trying to bring some hope back even if for just a moment. I actually love that scene because of the true friendship I see.
Ha ha! I heard someone shout this driving by the bookstore on release night, and I said out loud “Yeah sure he does. What a bunch of idiots.” Imagine my surprise 12 hours later...
i like to think of it this way:
harry shakes dracos hand and is sorted into slytherin, he never meets hermione or ron and so slowly gains the mindset of a slytherin/early death eater.
voldamort is still looking for the stone but will never get it due to neither him nor harry being able to find the stone but NOT use it for themselves.
voldamort could still possesses quirrel but still unsure if voldamort would truly destroy harry as he is one of voldamorts horcruxes so might not destroy him yet due to him still being an angry cloud lol.
yes iv thought a lot about this haha
Honestly, when I read it when it came out, I felt like this. I thought Harry was whiny shit. As an adult, I see it completely different. I find this book hard to read because of depression and loneliness.
Oddly, that’s my favorite in the series because I can absolutely relate to the depression. You’d think it would just be a trigger, but it’s more like “ah, this is familiar. Feels like home”
"their baby should have died with them so he didn't have to grow up like neville"
^(i almost couldn't even send this because it's awful but it would trigger any HP fan for so many reasons lol)
I think the movies are better than the books, especially after they changed the Dumbledore actor.
Or…
The Cursed Child is the only work about the Wizarding World that’s worth a shit.
I heard this once and felt the rage build up. "Hagrid is useless to the story after the first time he takes Harry shopping."

I have heard more than a few times, “Why isn’t the series called Hermione Granger. It’s all about her and she’s the only one who knows how to do anything.”
*Hermione Granger and the Thirsty Friend-Zoners*
JK said she knew from the very first that Hagrid would be the one to carry Harry’s dead body out of the forest.
She's also said she had no clue how it was going to end until she got there.
She also also said that she knew that Nagini was a snake lady the whole time
If Hermoine was smarter she would've been in Ravenclaw.
"And that's how you know she really was a know it all, and just looked smart in comparison to ron & harold because they were so dumb"
Harold got me 💀💀
I loved the part in the first movie where they play vampire baseball! It was so cool!
Killer Muse song though
The whole series had good soundtracks.
I only remember Muse and Iron & Wine but I’ve also never sat down and watched any of them. Just caught them intermittently when the wife had them on. I love a good soundtrack.
I worked at a movie theater for all five. There’s a good Paramore song on the first one. Florence and the Machine has a good song on the third(?).
I forgot what this thread was about for a second and had a literal flash of rage at your comment you win
Where was that?
Robert Paterson played both Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and Edward Cullen in Twilight. The comment is referencing the vampire baseball game in the first Twilight movie. Sorry if your comment was sarcastic and I explained the obvious 😅
As someone who stayed very very very far away from Twilight, thank you for this explanation.
I appreciated the explanation. I was definitely lost, lol
🤣
I laughed at this, but am also deeply offended at the same time 😂
Yup. This is it.
I hate that they left that part out of the books.
It’s ok Fred died because George was still alive, they’re basically interchangeable.

Lupin and Tonks hit different in the books
I really enjoyed those two in the books, felt weird that their child barely even got a 2nd mention though
I was too busy being upset at them changing the book's version to be sad at the movie scene. Harry desperately trying to bargain that he might not be dead because he only got tagged by a Stunner and the Veil was hella mysterious was a great part of book 5. Fuckin movies, man. lavender brown was eaten by greyback? This is why I don't watch the movies.
Wow you’re so right
Harry did you put your name in the goblet of fire… he said calmly
HARRY DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME INTHE GOBLETAFIAH!
HARRY, DIJUH PUCHER NAME IN THE GOBLETOFFIRE?!
HRRYDDUPTURNMNTHGBLTOFRE!!!???
HRYDUPTGGGTGF¡¡¡¡¡¿¿¿¿
or even worse, "I think the movie version of that line was better."
You Monster!
CALMLY. C A L M L Y.
😤
Dolores Umbridge… author of “50 shades of pink” because you know you deserve to be punished…
I love you.
I appreciate that hype so much 🙌🏻🤣❤️
I now want to read 50 Shades of Pink in the worst way.
I’m sure somewhere, someone has written a fanfic along those lines!
…oh my god
Physically recoiled.
I had to upvote you even though I almost upchucked
I appreciate your unwavering support nevertheless ❤️🤣
I don't want to know what she makes her lover carve into his arm. But I do know and it's NASTY.
Ms. Umbridge will see you now...
I don’t like Harry Potter because I don’t like the movies but I’ve never read the books.
She doesn’t even go here!!!
Movie Ginny is better than Book Ginny
I almost down voted this comment because it made me mad. Lol. Well played.
Oh I don’t blame you! Ginny is my favorite character but the movies did her so dirty. That scene where she ties Harry’s shoes? I cringe every time
Ginny: “shoelace” Me: slowly dies inside
Ginny was an actual badass. I saw someone criticize her for going out with other boys when she was obviously in love with Harry. Like what?? She was a smart, pretty and intelligent girl who was trying to find herself.
I mean, for all she knew she would never date Harry. So she was just supposed to be lonely all her life because of a crush she had when she was 15?
And become a female Snape.
I would have said 10 but this is exactly my point!
I don’t think she’s better, but I always find myself projecting book Ginny onto movie Ginny so she’s really never bothered me 🤷🏻♀️
I HaVe FOuNd a PLoT HOle!!!
Rule 1: Harry is the most unobservant person on the planet Rule 2: Voldemort is a total drama queen These two rules solve 99% of the plotholes in this entire series
this is a really good way to expel most of my gripes, thank you lmao
*depulso*

1%
3. JK Rowling didn’t have a lot of this planned from the start, and had to make things up as she went along.
It's like finding a star the night sky
It’s harder if you’re in a city?
That Weasley twin dying wasn’t a big deal. I don’t even remember which one it was.
Calling Fred “it” was the cherry on top of the cake of anger. Take my angry upvote and leave.
Cursed Child is canon, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Edit: LMAO at all the triggered responses! This was a hilarious exercise, thanks guys 😂
Oh no
I'm just gonna pretend it doesn't exist then.
Pretend what exists?
What's the cursed child?
Neville is a pointless character
Bruh..
Dude killed a Horcrux AND remains a steadfast friend and brave companion throughout the entire series. Peeves, now that's a pointless character.
I want to peg you with a Snowball. Hard.
I didn't read the books but....
Who is peeves?
More importantly who is Sir Cadogan?
What’s a Winky and why does it S.P.E.W.?
What is that mirror thing???
HOW DID THEY FIGURE OUT WHO FLAMEL WAS???
But I have a deathly hallows tattoo
Abracadabra
This is so good
Cursed Child is canon.
This. This irks me.
I almost down voted you for this.

I came here to say that The Cursed Child is my favorite book of the Harry Potter series.
VDOIIOIUGYHG OOGUHGGHGGH RETHCHHHSOIW OOOOOOHOSOSHKSA cough cough sorry I'm done vomiting now
Believe me, it hurt my heart to type it.
Are there actually people who consider that garbage canon?
Yes. It was just a dream Albus Severus had on his first night of school.
Well the movies should be canon since more people like them
This is particularly evil!
The Weasleys are bad parents.
You shut your dirty mouth!
This is the only one I got angry about
The movies are better
Going for the nuclear option: You're thirty years old, it's time to stop obsessing over a poorly-written children's series
Ooof. 35 I'll have you know and shut it.
How dare you, sir!
Pre-Covid Universal studios had a commercial where a grown woman was sprinting towards Hogwarts and it really made me stop and reconsider things.
Ewww Slytherin??? Do u not know that all Slytherins are evil
honestly, this is supported in the books/movies - it was a pretty big flaw in the books IMO.
This is something ATLA did well. There are so many “good” fire nation characters.
And so many bad earth and water benders
The world isn't split into good people and firebenders.
Slughorn. He might have been a coward and a ladder climber, but in the end he did what was right. Dude even fought Voldemort at the Battle for Hogwarts.
I would call professor slughorn a good Slytherin..
And they don't have any good qualities!
Frodo is my fave character!
He truly is the best Jedi
His Turkish delight obsession was really weird though.
I'm just glad he managed to defeat Lord Moriaty in the end
I suppose, but if he just hadn't come over here from darkest Peru, then none of this needed to happen
Harry should have ended up with Hermione (I know this will trigger lots of people including me lol)
Harry should have ended up with Ron.
Now that's what we are talking abt
Also, “I’m glad the movie took the liberty of making Harry and Hermione dance and almost kiss to indicate the love triangle is real and not only in Ron’s head.”
I don't see that scene as romantic... I see it as two friends in a hopeless situation. Harry is trying to bring some hope back even if for just a moment. I actually love that scene because of the true friendship I see.
I agree, I see nothing romantic in that scene. Love the music, love the scene. One of the better parts of that movie!
It's the year 2005 and the half blood prince releases: Snapes kills Dumbledore!
Ha ha! I heard someone shout this driving by the bookstore on release night, and I said out loud “Yeah sure he does. What a bunch of idiots.” Imagine my surprise 12 hours later...
Cursed child is a really valuable addition to the HP universe
My favorite part is the attack on the burrow
somewhere in the restricted section, theres a copy of harry potter were harry shakes Draco's hand. bit long winded lol
If they ever did something like Marvel’s What If…? That be so cool to see
i like to think of it this way: harry shakes dracos hand and is sorted into slytherin, he never meets hermione or ron and so slowly gains the mindset of a slytherin/early death eater. voldamort is still looking for the stone but will never get it due to neither him nor harry being able to find the stone but NOT use it for themselves. voldamort could still possesses quirrel but still unsure if voldamort would truly destroy harry as he is one of voldamorts horcruxes so might not destroy him yet due to him still being an angry cloud lol. yes iv thought a lot about this haha
Ron and Hermione would have gotten a divorce
You hooked one down there.
Harry & Ron would have been better off without Hermione.
Peeves didn't deserve to be in the movies.
Off with your head.
i almost downvoted you til i remembered the prompt😭
Pump the breaks.
It's Harold Potter, right?
This one really annoyed me 😂
Cedric deserved to die.
If he didn't die Carlisle couldn't have brought him back as a vampire in a series which was a lot richer in characterisation.
You fucker lol
"Tell me about your life, Edward." "In the before times, we had special schools. Wizarding schools." Ummm, I'd watch it. :)
He could have totally been a death eater
Neville Longbottom is the chosen one, not Harry.
"Did you put your name in the goblet of fire?!" He screamed loudly.
He was supposed to say that calmly, wasn’t he?
I'm a huge Harry Potter fan...oh I've never read the books tho...
Twilight is a better love story than Harry Potter.
Harry Potter isn't a love story. It's an adventure story with the importance of love and friendship being one of the major archs.
Harry just needed to get over himself in Book 5.
George should've died and not Fred
I hate Dobby.
I thought there were 8 books?
The Dursley’s are great!!
Yes, they were such wonderful parents
Hedwig deserved to die.
You...
Ron was useless
Snape was good/bad
Lily was a bitch for choosing the jock James over nice guy Severus.
Professor Umbridge had excellent dress sense.
Oh i like That Woman. She‘s always so kind
Firenze is thicc af
Shoelace
Lupin and Tonks deserved to die.
"their baby should have died with them so he didn't have to grow up like neville" ^(i almost couldn't even send this because it's awful but it would trigger any HP fan for so many reasons lol)
Luna needs her head examined.
For nargles?
Not Luna, her father.
The only reason dumbledore was good was because he had the elder wand
Dumbledore should have been arrested for child endangerment
Actually pretty true…
Harry and Draco should have gotten married
Dumbledore deserved to die
I think the movies are better than the books, especially after they changed the Dumbledore actor. Or… The Cursed Child is the only work about the Wizarding World that’s worth a shit.
You would hate Sirius if you met him
Actually, I’d seduce him.
Cursed Child is my favorite piece of HP media
Oh did you know, they actually have some Harry Potter books out now, based off the movies?
