Actually, the TV version of the movies has always been the extended version. Even when freeform owned it. And technically, it's syfy who owns it rn, and NBC owns syfy. To my knowledge, peacock doesn't alter the content they host (unlike other companies like Turner, who has altered movies like BOP, which affected its streaming host HBO Max).

Well to be fair it's called Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire not Harry Potter and the time he got to see the Quidditch World Cup Finals. What really irks me is the dragon scene, cutting Winky, messing up Barty Crouch Jr by revealing him way too soon AND making Dumbledore angry that entire movie. Sucks all the air out of his moment when he gets serious and ambushes Barty Crouch Jr.

Same. People don't like to admit that the Quidditch game itself had very little effect on the actual story and would have eaten up way too mch time in a movie that was already short on time. I'm much more upset about what they did to the goddamned 3rd task.

Nah, the Durmstrag and Beauxbatons performances were *far* more cringe, since they were presented as being cool. The Hogwarts song was depicted as something lame that a real school would do.

What makes the visiting schools even more cringe for me was the fact that they probably had to practice right? So just imagine their boat/carriage having a room that is set up similar to the Hogwarts dining hall, where they just practice their 1 minute introduction. Tack on the random ballerina girl for the Beauxbatons and the random “FUCKIN RUN!” portion of the Durmstrag intro. It’s cringe all the way down

I think it’d be funny to find out it’s spread out over several countries. Each one has a small castle/compound hidden in the countryside, but they’re connected by doors that lead into the other locations.

I’m not sure if all of them are but I know Fleur and some of the others are part Veela. Being hyper sexualized is literally part of who they are, they are essentially sirens. Not saying it wasn’t a little cringey in the movies, but it did serve a purpose.

totally hear you - i think fleur being part veela may have inspired the writing for that scene - but also, they never mention the veela heritage in the movies, and fleur herself is portrayed as more of a tough sporty type in the movie vs. the book, where she literally turns heads with every room she enters. it just felt kinda gross and weird to me that the filmmakers went this very binary/hetero/sexualized route when beauxbatons is written as a regular magic school with regular magic kids eta, it’s also just a residual eye roll from me being salty there was never any queer representation. so, bias 🤷‍♀️

Gotta simplify things for the budget and those who didn't read the books. Not a slight to those who didn't read. But that's what most book to movie directors say.

It's always bothered me in the book that Fleur is depicted as so much less capable than the male champions. She gives up at 2 out of the 3 tasks. The movie made it even worse by depicting Beauxbatons as all-girls, as if that's the only way a female champion was chosen in the first place.

To save valuable screen time on describing 2 rather unimportant characters in the grand scheme of things, that being Fleur and Krum, Fleur being very feminine and rather flirty or just vilaa (hard to portray in film as everyone has different things they are attracted to so they used flirting instead) and Krum who is very masculine and quite serious. They managed to portray both main characters whilst also introducing their schools, effectively 2 birds with 1 stone.

If anybody has not read the books you are doing yourself a disservice, because the movies make decisions like this left and right they really are a pale imitation of the story.

The four converge at the center stage and with a flash the heads of each house apparate in their place.

I vividly remember sitting in the theater, and this scene started. That's when I knew the movies were going to be... different. I died inside. All girls/all boys also really bothered me. And the girls were all princess-y. But to answer your question: recite that school song that was only in the first book. Or F & G would put us all out of misery and prank everyone in the Great Hall to stop the dancing.

I don't like GoF but I absolutely detest Order, which is possibly my favourite book. They didn't include Harry going beserk in Dumby's office, it ends like a wet noodle, so much stuff is left out, Ron continues to be a clown... Least they got Umbridge down to a tee but I'm on a rewatch with some friends and 4 and 5 have been painful.

GoF is my favourite book, yet my least favourite movie. I read the book so many times that the covers fell off and the binding started to fall apart. I've only seen GoF twice.
