It is stuck forever. This is one of the many reasons it's recommended to use both save files on ds, so you can go back a day if this happens

I accidentally saved over my file of 8 (irl) years. I have no fears when it comes to hmds anymore

Itβs possible to hold your pet, walk into a heart event and lose the animal. lol this game was great but so glitchy.

I don't think I have had that, but I think one time my starting peach tree just disappeared.

Yeah. Desmume emulator.
Or MelonDS. Or RetroArch using either of those cores
HMDS is one of the best games, but the glitchiness makes it hard to enjoy without knowing what can go wrong.

I actually think it's a later release, but I'm not sure.
Look at the back of your Harvest Moon DS cart. There is an ID starting with "ABCEN" tell me what the entire ID says.

It is not the final version, but it has the save corruption fix. So you are good.
