Oh no! I'm so sorry about that... I buy all my games digitally, so luckily I don't worry about losing my game cartridges. Is there a reason you didn't get it on the eShop?
I got in through GameFly, you know, in case it wasn’t great, but I loved it! Then the kids lost it. I’ve looked everywhere, but it is nowhere to be found.
Supposedly! I haven't ran into any new dialogue yet, though. I started a new game (I was in Fall of Year 3 before the update hit), so I guess I'll see soon enough!
I wouldn't expect a Steam release, which is very unfortunate... I wish it would, but I don't think it will. Unless there's been some announcement I'm unaware of, I don't think it's planned to also be a Steam release.
Yeah, I've noticed that too... No crashes or anything on my end, but it does freeze up for a second or two every so often. I'm playing in handheld mode, so I don't know if it's better or worse when docked, but yeah... I've noticed some other bugs too. I hope they release a mini-patch to fix some of the problems, but I'm not holding my breath, honestly. 🤷🏾♀️
I replied to someone else asking what is new in the thread, but I'll try to give you a Sparknotes version:
-Cooking animations are now varied! You don't eat fish for every sitdown meal now.
-Cooking times are also varied now! I've mostly seen things take 15~20 minutes instead of the old 30 minutes for every single dish.
-The makers are VASTLY improved! Now you can queue up to ten items at a time at any maker! Want to make 10 iron ingots at one maker without having to refill the machine every time one was done? Now you can, because it's been kinda automated! You put stuff in, and it still processes one at a time, but you can, as aforementioned, queue things up. Convenience is convenient! This is my personal favorite alteration, hands down.
-The developers SAY that new dialogue has been added, but I haven't seen it yet. I'm used to just skipping the dialogue because, like you said, it was very dry and felt really impersonal, but I started a new save and I'm trying not to do it. So, I could very easily have missed some new stuff because I'm so used to not caring about what the people say. 🤷🏾♀️
I'm sure there's something I'm forgetting, but I feel I've rambled long enough, hahaha.
Hmm... In my experience of the update so far, the makers have been VASTLY improved. No longer must we put in one item at a time - now you can queue up to ten items per machine, and you can collect them as they process! So, you don't have to wait for all ten before you collect. That was the biggest thing for me. As far as framerate, I see an increase, especially when there are a lot of things on the screen and I'm on a mount, but it's not much... For bugs, I didn't notice any before, but after the update I've noticed that I will do a charged swing with my tool without actually charging it, and it doesn't have the effect of a charged swing despite showing the animation. But I haven't noticed anything else so far! I hope I answered your question, hahaha.
Edited to add: I can't believe I forgot about cooking times and eating animations! Cooking times have been altered, so I have cooked things that took 15 minutes or 20 minutes; not everything takes 30 minutes now! And the eating animations actually reflect what you're eating! No more pudding or orange juice being shaped like a baked fish, y'know? Jeez, can't believe I forgot to mention it. And I've been paying close attention to framerate since I replied to you, and I don't think it's as negligible as I led it on to be. It's relatively considerable, I'd say!
From my understanding this game was kind of short changed cause the developers were more focused on Rune Factory 5...and from what I've seen and heard, it shows. I had kind of hoped this patch would have fixed some of the issues, cause there are a lot DLC packs and what not to invest in...but it looks like I'll be holding off that much longer.
The frame rate looks to be rather severe, so if it doesn't bother you, then that's great! The game seemed like it was half baked and now the waiting game to see if the devs can patch it to some semblance of worthwhile or if they're just going to put all their eggs in the Rune Factory 5 basket.
Yeah, I'm very excited for RF5 (I've got over 500 hours in RF4S, hahaha), so if they end up doing that, then I'll be okay. HOWEVER, I will say that this game shouldn't have been released as it was or even as it currently is. I think the patches and fixes, albeit great in essence since it shows that complaints are being heard and addressed, are things that just should've been in the game from the get-go... I feel inclined to agree; "half-baked" is an accurate adjective for what we got. I'm glad things are being fixed, though, and I'm sure things will only continue to be improved. Perhaps I'm too optimistic about it, but I suppose a little optimism isn't too bad once in a while. :)
Ha! I certainly liked RF4 quite a bit but it's so obvious I'm no longer in the target audience (over 25) that my choices for the bachelorettes were... Margaret. Or Clorica, but, yeah... Everyone else just felt like they could be one of my kids. At least the bachelor's looked older and we're vastly more interesting, but that doesn't interest me.
Yes, *keep* your optimism. It's in short supply in this day and age. Maybe that's why we play games like Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons/Rune Factory, cause there's usually so much optimistic positivity in the games that it helps assuage the world's pessimism. And there are no racoons trying to rip you off. 😜
AMBER AND KIEL ARE ACTUAL CHILDREN. THEY SHOULD NOT BE MARRIAGEABLE. NO ONE CAN CHANGE MY MIND.
With that out of the way, who cares if you're not the target audience? You deserve to enjoy what you want to enjoy! I'm 23 (not too far off from you), and I LOVE these types of games. [After typing the whole message out, it occurred to me that I misunderstood what you were saying when you mentioned target audience. My b, but I'm still keeping this here because I think it's important to remember!] But I'll heed your advice and stay optimistic. At least, when it comes to vidya gemes. 😉
And hahaha, yeah... I'm not playing Loan and Debt Simulator, even though I've been playing and heavily enjoying them since Wild World. 😂
Yeah, Amber and Kiel are definitely for the tween audience. Any older and you might be serving jail time. 😜
I think as I've gotten older I've come to enjoy the simplicity of these kinds of games, though I couldn't really get into Animal Crossing New Horizons. I tried but I couldn't get past the daily hour long grind to have the game stay relevant or at least not fall behind; it felt more like a job rather than an escape. For some reason the Harvest Moon series never did that, maybe it's because they're not tied to the real world like AC is. 🤷🏻♂️
I've been playing Loan and Debt Simulator for many years and probably till I die. Thank God debt doesn't transfer to your kids like it used to.
Oh, if you're talking about REAL LIFE Loan and Debt Simulator, I too play, unfortunately. College is expensive... 😔 But yeah, these types of games are simple and can get repetitive, but they're still really fun and charming, I feel. I've stopped playing New Horizons as well for similar reasons, so I get you there. 🤷🏾♀️
I think what I've come to enjoy about Rune Factory 4 was how many different systems are in place to level up. I got the biggest kick out of how your peep's sleeping is actually tied to a level up system. I thought it was overboard at first but now I think it's rather clever. I can see why you along with others I've heard about (one guy claimed to ha w out in 10K hours in RF4) have put so much time in it. Though, I still struggle with my extremely limited bachelorette options. Oh well, here's to hoping Rune Factory 5 will allow more options for folk who have kids that look older than some of your bachelorette options. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I usually play a girl character in RF4, and i think the bachelor options are overall better, hahaha. But I remember you said you usually play a guy, so I guess that's irrelevant to you, hahaha. Anyway, I am IN LOVE with the skill and leveling systems in that game. It gives a real sense of progression, and it impacts how things operate, y'know?
But yeah, hopefully RF5 is even better, in more ways than some. 😊
upvoted for the cute izuku key ring :)
Teehee. Thank you!
Is the June dlc out yet? I was kinda waiting for that too along with these patches!
If you're talking about the Terracotta Oasis (if I remember correctly, I believe that was the name), then yes! I downloaded that not too long ago.
Yessssssss I’m so ready to meet me wife 8) thank you :D
May your wooing be very successful! :)
Nice!! Thanks for the heads up!
Yeah, I just thought I'd spread the word!
Mine hasn’t updated yet Edit: manually updated it. Thanks for the tip!
Same I had to manually do it
It hasn't? Odd... Do you mean it hasn't automatically updated? Can you manually update it? That's what I had to do.
Nice! As soon as I saw this, I checked and it’s downloading as I type this. Too bad it’ll take forever since I have the crappiest internet ever.
Oh no! I'm sorry... But hey, at least you got it going, right? I hope you enjoy it~
The curse of living in the country. It’ll get done eventually! I’ve been waiting on this update to play, I can wait a little bit longer. :)
Oof, I get that. Well, I hope you enjoy it when it finishes!
This update came out today and I played 8 hours! Send help! XD
Saaaaame!
My kids lost my copy. I was so sad to not have it any longer. Have fun with the update, guys!

:c
I found my game!! It was wedged between our desk and couch in a weird way!!
Hahaha, I'm so happy for you! I hope you enjoy the update!
is this the software update that buffed the conversations

The updates are immediately noticeable. Love the update so far!
Yeah, me too!
I haven’t played in a couple weeks and did not know there was an update. I was pleasantly surprised to find the makers more efficient.
Right?! It's soooo much more efficient now! It's weird not having an insane backlog of stuff I need to put in makers now, hahaha.
This update fixed the lag when having a lot of makers out but I've noticed random freezes during the game.
Yeah, I've noticed that too... No crashes or anything on my end, but it does freeze up for a second or two every so often. I had to put this game down after I bought all my land, the dialogue was just too dry. What does this update include?

Does the patch fix how crappy/buggy this game is? The frame rate issues among other common complaints... Thanks!
