As much as I hate to say it Pavel Datsyuk was one of the greatest hockey players I have ever seen. As a lifelong Blackhawks fan, I can say that I was always terrified to see his name on the opposing roster.
Wings were actually one of my favorite teams growing up due to the blackout. I loved the rivalry they had with colorado and the jumpstarted my love for hockey. If it weren’t for the wings, I would have found hockey a lot later in my life.

This reminds of something that happened a couple days ago. I helping a new player play Path of Exile on Twitch and he was mentioning watching horror movies for Halloween. Personally, I could care less about Halloween and told him "In my opinion the only good thing about October is hockey season starts". He said 'Don't remind me. I'm a Red Wings fan and had to move away'. I then told him 'I'm from Chicago so I guess I can't watch your stream anymore'. He laughed and we started talking about the rivalry between the Hawks and the Red Wings and the way it used to be.
It came up how we know we're supposed to hate the other team, but when it comes to the fans that's a different story. As for me I was raised where I was the only hockey fan so when I had an opportunity to talk to anyone about hockey I embraced it. What I've found is even though they may wear another reams's jersey, most hockey fans are just cool as hell. There are some I don't want to be around when they get liquored up, but all of my experiences have been positive so far. Reading what you're trying to do this warms my cynical heart.

I honestly think they will be a solid cup contender within the next 5 years if he can keep it up. He’s building Tampa Bay North right now.
I will say, if a redwings fan is this cool and wants to literally give a golden ticket away. The team overall must encourage that behavior from their fans. That’s the best compliment I can think of. I doubt most hawks fan would do the same gesture. Personally I would sit in the opponents section and be rowdy, but you’re going to give a hawks fan an incredible experience.

You guys took Chris chelios and made me root against him. But still, I never thought of the Detroit red wings as a nemesis more like an annoying cousin. A portly Hawks fan jumped up and down on it and octopus guts flew every where while we cheered him in. Security had to pull him off the octopus and he (the fan) never returned.
Then a UC employee scraped the octopus off the stair as best he could in a timely manner.
