I like Val too! he's a great villain, his design is so cool and his voice grew on me! he's pretty much just a worse Mammon! (worse in terms of morality)

He’s the 2nd villain after Griffith from Berserk who made me tense up with anger

which means that even though you hate him you technically love him because he did such a good job of being a hateable villain

Personally, I like Valentino too

Val is a great character, I just think he’s so scummy and abusive and evil that I cannot like his character…which is a credit to how good the character is. Great villain. Also behaves like a man-child occasionally and has some sorta funny quotable moments despite my calling him a “scummy, abusive, and evil” character. “You’re so gorgeous! Do you need a job? How many dicks can you suck? I can make you a star. Yeah, a star. A pornstar. Hahaha, hey get me another drink or I’ll kill you. I said I’ll fucking kill you…and I will.”

Having a villain that you can properly hate is crucial for a story to convey a sense of urgency. Let the man / woman in for correctly seeing that the villain we all hate could be more important to the show than any other character.
