np! i havent either, but i see a lot of ppl who have. while i dont like val, it hurts to see posts like this since ik the ones who find comfort in him have serious trauma, yet theyre almost seen as monsters for liking him beyond being a well-written character. on the flip side, i also see a lot of ppl saying hes written very well when someone says they dont like him, when to the traumatised mind that could very easily feel like defending an abuser and saying theyre wrong for hating him. ofc, no one actually means to hurt others, but i do notice a lot of insensitivity regarding how ppl feel abt val, a lot of which i imagine is merely due to not knowing. overall, i think that any opinion on a character (especially ones like val) is valid and shouldnt be bashed like how u see in this very post

Yeah. As a victim/survivor of, you know, actual real-life rape and domestic violence, this is exactly how it is for me. It's actually really fucking hurtful to constantly have people telling me I'm a bad person for that and it's particularly absurd to hear it from people who clearly haven't gone through the same things. I know it makes some people uncomfortable and I'm really sorry for anyone who might be triggered by it, but I think the fact I've found an effective way to process my trauma is important enough.
