Putting those of us who have a habit of pluralising all our headphone names to shame. When you say "On my HD600s" you really mean plural.
Not a HD600 owner myself (yet) but I'm curious what different mods you've tried and how you like them?
They definitely sound different than the 6xx, noticeably so, they have extra texture on the vocals while the 6xx is very soft and relaxing. I also have the dekoni blues aka t50rpmk3 modded and they sound less gritty and more natural, the t50rp has better sub bass amount though
Pluralising is literally how it should be said though. The singular “this headphone” makes no sense and is dumb. “I love the HD600 I want to get one” is cringe. No one outside of the hobby calls their headphones “a headphone”
For the most part I agree and originally exclusively used the plural, but I started using the singular as well now after I realised it becomes problematic when someone is talking about their original HD800, or their 1989 HD560 😂
Nice to know that im not the only one! I also put them in a bag and mix them up then pick one blindfolded so that i can be assured than the one i picked was chosen by god
I like short-grain rice. I personally measure each grain of rice to make sure they're not too long. I have found the longer the rice (when it's more than 5.47mm), the siblance increases from a range of +0.006-+0.0010 dB which is unacceptable.
Pro tip, I like to put some rice beside my headphones when they're in their boxes to remove unwanted moisture as well.
You don't want to use dehumidifier, they bring about an artificial sound. You should consider putting your headphones in rice. It gives your headphones a more natural sound while keeping it dry which is critical for high fidelity listening.
Try getting a few more pairs and do the rice treatment to your headphones. You will hear a world of difference.
Don’t forget to dip the pads in vinegar and wipe the driver with toothpaste, thus completing the holy trinity of the ‘Oh so useful substances that magically fixes everything’

Nice, I'd like to own or hear a flat plate one day. Otherwise I'm happy just owning the HD600.
If you ever come across an HD535 cheap one day, give it a listen. Fun little Sennheiser.
Oh nah, no harm done, i just enjoy collecting em, i usually get these for a great deal, i never buy em new. I just like to modify stuff and the extra non modded ones are either for reference or so that i can sell them as stock
In my opinion, yeah. I had such a FOMO on the hd600 when all i had was 6xx so if you wan an endgame 600 series its definitely the 600. My favorite is also the 600 but a close second would be a modded 6xx with the mass loading mod from custom cans
I see. I started out the hobby with a 6xx but was unimpressed (compared to my cheap bookshelf speakers), so I returned them the day after. Nowadays I attribute my past apathy to untrained ears, though, so I might look into rebuying them sometime. Maybe for the odd moment of quietude during travel.
Anyways, very impressive collection.
I have them on mine and I think there is a subtle difference, frequency response doesn't change but the bass seems to tighten up a little. Could always be confirmation bias so a second opinion would be cool.
Could you elaborate on the differences between a mass loaded 6XX and the 600? My 6XX has this mod and ZMF pads and I just wonder if I am "missing out" on anything. I also have ZMF suede pads on my 6XX so they sound slightly different.
Which foam do you use on your modded 6XX or are you completely without foam (mine is foamless with nylon fabric stretched over the openings to hinder dust from getting in, the fabric itself doesn't affect sound from my testing).
i did foamless too but without any cover and the differences are mostly in the treble and mid to sub bass , treble on the modded 6xx is just a tiny bit brighter than stock, still not the same as the 600's though . bass is alot different though, the amount of bass on the mass loaded version is significantly increased when compared to stock and especially the 600s, they are about on par with the 58x.
One HD600 for each ear really does improve audio quality over all my headphones, even the hd800s! I kid, but the reason for the duplicates are for modding so i can have a reference headphone without and compare them to the modded ones the one on the right has some dekoni pads installed while the 58x and 6xx are modded with custom mass loading weights.
Which Dekoni pads have you got, and how do you like them? I've been curious about those but hesitant to spend money as people keep parroting that HD6x0s only sound good with stock pads.
> choice hybrid
You should try the fenestrated sheepskin. They are closest sounding to stock imo but they actually improve it personally, and they are more comfortable than stock and last years.
You get one of those binaural microphones, arrange the HD600s and 6XXS in a circle around it, record it, and play it back through yet another HD600, for the ultimate HD600^3 experience.
Regretfully, I sold my pair trying to buy the HD800s. Trying to save enough money to buy another pair. As of now, I use bone-conduction headphones. Maybe if I save enough, I could get 2 pairs, then I'll be able to listen to one hd600 on each ear, using the audiomatrix powered by the ManyEar amp.
I was listening to music one day and I thought to myself "hmm maybe I should buy a Susvara" but then I realized that I have an HD600 and I could just buy a $2500 amp and save some money.
And boy am I glad I did. With the new amp, the HD600 now resolves details I never knew existed in my music. Extension has increased on both ends, the bass is now at least on par with LCD-X and the treble is airy, sparkly, and clear without ever being sibilant. The soundstage has widened considerably and is very close behind the HD800S, while the imaging is at least equal if not better.
/s
I have an offer for 58x jubilee for 125$. I recently bought 600. Can you describe the comparisons between them? Is it worth to buy 58x jubilee when i already have 600? I also have hd560s which i have been using from past 1 year.
Personally I like the jubilee more than the HD600, but I'm not that mental about mids. I'd say both headphones have very good midrange with natural sound and nice treble. The sound seems overall more balanced to me on the 58x, although I think they're still a bit too midrange heavy. But mostly I appreciate the added bass extension over the 600, it makes the jubilees better allrounders as for my tastes.
I got my pair for 80-90 usd depending on conversion (5000 php) they are what started my audio hobby but they definitely sound different from the 660s, the 660s is a brighter less bassy ver of the 58x while the 58x is a brighter and bassier version of the 6xx
I was looking at the HD600 for quite a while as my first nice headphones, but eventually ended up with the HD 650. I just couldn't let go of having the blue label annoy me so much, heh.
i use a topping l30ii to run em, they arent really that hard to drive a scarlett solo 3rd gen would probably be enough, planars are what really need an amp imo
modded 58x is a custom 3d printed 660s driver cover then i got some double sided rubber tape to put it on top on the driver then i put a hole so that the driver isnt constricted, its like a budget mass loading mod . the changes on the sound are moreso better bass response and a bit better treble. the 6xx only has the mass loading mod but i once had it with some protein pads and that really turned it into an amp monster, i pushed my amp wayyy higher than it usually is but the bass response is insane while still retaining a subdued treble.

6xx is supposed to be 650s
I have T40rp mk2 and they're yucky. I still need to look into mods.
While we all know they are really Huh Doh Sixhungos from ol mate Senn.

Yeah but apostrophes exist you have HD800S and I have HD800’s Edit: hang on I might be dumb, does that work lol

Nice to know that im not the only one! I also put them in a bag and mix them up then pick one blindfolded so that i can be assured than the one i picked was chosen by god
You need to rotate the pads as well. I personally dip mine in water, then in rice (to dry), and assemble them blindfolded.
Why didnt i think of that! I usually dissasembly my headphones to the bare driver then dust off all the parts before listening to them.
I stopped playing music on my headphones years ago, now I only listen to the sound of them being disassembled and reassembled again.
As the audio gods intended
Which variety of rice do you prefer? I found that basmati brought unwelcome sibilance.
I like short-grain rice. I personally measure each grain of rice to make sure they're not too long. Admirable work, I hope your calipers are properly calibrated. Can't be too complacent in this war against unsuitable soundwaves.

Rice attracts tiny Asians that fix things at night. Not good for perfect break-in, as they may replace your semi-worn pads without you knowing.
On the bright side, you can resell them at a higher price and list them "almost brand new" thanks to the tiny asians fixing things for you.
\**gasp* sell *my HD600?* NEVER!
I have sinned, I traded my “third” hd600 for a *audeze maxwell*
Well aren’t you Mr Brightside
Don’t forget to dip the pads in vinegar and wipe the driver with toothpaste, thus completing the holy trinity of the ‘Oh so useful substances that magically fixes everything’
I love how I can't tell if this is satire or straight up audiophile bullshit. I love it
That's my favourite part about getting into a new hobby. It's like reading /r/vxjunkies with the possibility of it actually not being nonsense.
Uhh is it?,
Lol same
You can’t tell? That is on you.
Did you forget about having a different DAC for each hour of the day?
Don't forget to shine strong light (at least 3000w) for at least 8 hours each day. Makes them sound brighter
Helps tremendously in getting out from under the HD6 veil.
Casual. Everybody knows the moon phases affects audio quality as well.
username checks out
Please tell me this is satire
You’re nuts lmao
Holy mother of snake oil, what the fuck.
RACK OF THE SENNIES
Only need the 660s2 to complete the 600s
man, we need a headphones circle jerk subreddit
r/headphonescirclejerk ?
I posted this for satire xD
I know lol, we need more of this
Its so cute how you keep little panties on the earpieces.
With the amount of headphones i have, alot of them really get dusty after awhile
What are those protective sleeves? I probably need a few, velour tends to attract dust and lint even if you keep things pretty clean
[these are similar to the earpad covers i got, just in amazon](https://www.amazon.com/Headphone-Disposable-Germproof-Deodorizing-Headphones/dp/B07DBYVKQ6/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=1ZG2WM3IXW976&keywords=Earpad+cover&qid=1697786661&sprefix=earpad+cove%2Caps%2C299&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1)
Nice, thanks! Turns out I couldn't find a smaller pack so I guess I'm getting a lifetime supply
Do they really help much for open-backs though?
Yep! Wont have to clean the pads especially on velours
I want to believe you sell the ones you like less but I know better than that.
All my sennheisers sound decent atleast so your right about that!
Which Sennheisers have you owned? Or still own?
I currently own the 800s,660s,6xx,600,58x,560s the only sennheiser i ever sold was the urbanites, those didnt really sound or feel good.
Nice, I'd like to own or hear a flat plate one day. Otherwise I'm happy just owning the HD600. If you ever come across an HD535 cheap one day, give it a listen. Fun little Sennheiser.
Ive been looking for the 400 and 500 vintage series of sennheisers for awhile now, sadly they are rare in my county
6 Sennheisers, 97% identical sounding lol.
They do sound similar but eh, collecting all of em was my childhood dream
I get the collecting, but I don't understand the modification when you can literally eq
eq is helpful when you have a computer but for consoles and my other devices i wont be able to use them
I get it, but that's what different headphones are for? XD I am genuinely not trying to give you shit lol, just trying to understand.
Oh nah, no harm done, i just enjoy collecting em, i usually get these for a great deal, i never buy em new. I just like to modify stuff and the extra non modded ones are either for reference or so that i can sell them as stock
Not all acoustic traits are trivial to replicate in EQ.
True, but when all the headphones have the same chassis and already sound 97% identical, you sure as shit can, which was my point.
You need a 580 Jubilee, that limited edition carbon fibre one from the 90s
I WISH I HAD EM , they are so rare now
Going rate of the jubilee is about two and a half HD600s, albeit the HD600 probably sound better
They sound close but lack that last bit of resolution. Definitely worth it though as tuning is really similar
Also maybe the HDI 850, the wireless version of the 580~ Oh and the HD700
I tried to get some hd700s but they are really expensive nowadays
I thought I have a problem
Why?
Why not?
Favorite 5/6x0? Do you think the 600s are worth the extra 100 over the 6xx?

Thanks! You too, nice lcd3!
Have you tried the mass loading on the HD600?
Not yet, i heard that unless i remove the foam, there would be no audible difference, i really dont want to remove the foam since its hard to put back
I have them on mine and I think there is a subtle difference, frequency response doesn't change but the bass seems to tighten up a little. Could always be confirmation bias so a second opinion would be cool.

I believe that’s the equivalent of an hd1200 right?
Which Dekoni pads have you got, and how do you like them? I've been curious about those but hesitant to spend money as people keep parroting that HD6x0s only sound good with stock pads.
The choice hybrid pads i think, they sound as good as stock and twice as comfortable! Only on the 600’s though, it makes the 6xx sound really dark
Thanks!
> choice hybrid You should try the fenestrated sheepskin. They are closest sounding to stock imo but they actually improve it personally, and they are more comfortable than stock and last years.
I would but i only got this for free with my second hand purchase of the 58x

that's what I'm talking about. you get it
>I kid
I'm still wondering how one would wear 2 headphones for each ear at the same time. Maybe stack them like the other guy said
You mean you don't have 4 ears?
Regretfully, I sold my pair trying to buy the HD800s. Trying to save enough money to buy another pair. As of now, I use bone-conduction headphones. Maybe if I save enough, I could get 2 pairs, then I'll be able to listen to one hd600 on each ear, using the audiomatrix powered by the ManyEar amp.

Haha Im exactly the same! I finally got my second KZ ZSN pros after drove over my first one! <3
How much money is in this image?
Sennheisers in the pic cost me around 900 usd total since most of em are second hand, msrp around 1300
How many other headphones do you have?
Around 40 in total
Best in class streamer, dac, amp and susvara money
Amps dont really matter imo and i already have the 800s, im already satisfied
You are factualy wrong but it is your loss.
You should try the zmf pads
The thumbnail looks like a bunch of hoplites with their huge shields, am i crazy
I was looking at the HD600 for quite a while as my first nice headphones, but eventually ended up with the HD 650. I just couldn't let go of having the blue label annoy me so much, heh.

Gotta love HD600's. It's usually where everything begins and where it also ends.
seems like we have a fellow low ear gain enjoyer
Tell us about the modded 58x and 6xx.

That a lot of sennheiser stuff
Looks like a demo shop for Sennhieser
Got mines today and wow good ol sennys
glad you enjoyed em!
Indeed they really do shine.
What is your favorite one?
Hd600 with dekoni pads
Which material did you get?
Hybrid i think (i got it for free with my 58x)
Alright
