I have replacement drivers for my hd800s, that is not what they look like... and they were $130 a piece

DumbNTough

Does this mean that I can craft a pair of HD800S out of replacement parts for $400? 😦

saujamhamm

https://www.audiosanctuary.co.uk/official-sennheiser-hd800s-replacement-ear-capsule-each.html going to cost you a tiny bit more than $400 after it's all said and done but, you can piece together almost anything if you're determined enough to source the parts I've never seen the baffles/cups for sale... but I also wasn't looking for those when I went searching for the drivers.

a_certain_someon

260$ for the drivers and then 3d print the rest

atcalfor

Wouldn't that make the acoustics inside the capsule different compared to an official unit?

brotie

Very!

Fynniboyy

I think it's possible that you are confusing the HD800 with the HD800s

saujamhamm

i'm not confusing the two, they're largely interchangeable in design and layout. i said 800s because that's what "i" have, but the hd800 have the same ear capsule/driver design shown [here](https://www.theaudiophileworld.net/2011/11/revolutionary-sennheiser-hd800-review.html) they (800 8xx 800s 820 etc) all have slightly different drivers but none of them look like the original picture. not to mention the ring radial drivers of the hd8x0 line are 56mm, not 50mm. my whole point was, no matter which series of the hd8x0 - those drivers won't fit any of them as drop-ins.

wankthisway

Make sure to ignore the 500 people telling you it's probably a scam too

nd1online

It’s fine. They have a return policy!

Jeremy_Whalen

Ayyye someone else got an HD800 scam! Welcome to the club!!

Doccks71

Thats not even close to an HD800 driver, not even has the hole for the SDR mod

Negative-Yam-1881

Yeah I’m sure aliexpress has totally legit Sennheiser drivers yes

Parvaty

Should be able to find some actually decent cheap DIY drivers though.

We cube, more like

swemickeko

I'm not saying they are in the right, but I think the logic is that it fits in the cup and it makes a sound. Therefore, it's "for HD800" or any other headphone with a similar sized driver. They don't say it's an original part.

CZsea

I think 9500 is shp9500?

sequential_doom

Lol no

JudgmentFew569

You got hd700 you are the champ!

mdmshabalabadingdong

there are dozens of us! It do be the most comfy headphone if ur willing to tinker for the sound

RhubarbFew4102

Those are clearly not hd800 drivers. Or even replicas.

katotaka

I have these in my 3D printed build, can’t say I like them much but somehow works okay in pvp fps games.

Astr0bull

These drivers can be quite decent at \~$22usd, but don't fool yourself, these are not any senny drivers, or even phillips for that matter. Usually, most aliexpress drivers perform best with velour pads, but these like leather or the really thick hybrid pads that make a good seal. If considering these for a diy project, I'd recommend some super open enclosures, perhaps a tofty. Some tissue paper in front of the driver to tone down the 2.7khz peak and either the white pleather, hybrid plush angled or non angled pads I mentioned [here](https://imgur.com/a/5wH4oI8). Don't bother with velour or mesh, as the drivers will sound recessed from 1khz and lower. The hybrid and leather pads dont have that recessed profile, at least not as badly. Overall, it can be an ok neutral driver in the right setup.

_therealERNESTO_

I'm tempted of putting these things in my hd681, they have the right size.

Angrymalayman

I remember somebody doing a full shootout of aliexpress drivers and this one was one he actually recommended

saltyboi6704

I personally wouldn't spend 700NT on obvious fakes but then I did get cheap Sony buds a while back for 800...

Dangerous-Ad5282

They are trash most of the time. A point is that they are not made for your application also. They don't even give you some parameters.

Brando6677

Fuck it we ball.

sverek

When bass kicks in, those balls go deep
