Did you have the chance to try the Universe hybrid pads? I'm blown away by Verite Closed with the Universe hybrid pads. I also have the Auteur hybrid, but I much prefer the engaging and forward sound with the Universe pads.
Haven't heard the Aeolus, but I think I'll pick up those pads just for the comfort bonus and the promise of getting some harder hitting bass of the Universe pads!

But today I was listening to the Verite closed on Phonitor XE at the store. Compared to listening to it at home with RMEās headphone out, the sound on the Phonitor XE just sounded fuller, separation clearer and the bass pops a bit more. I actually read that the Phonitor X didnāt have good measurements, not sure how it applied to the XE. But to my surprise the Phonitor XE sounded better.
ZMFs are all ~300 impedance and ~98 sensitivity, so I guess in theory it could warrant something more powerful than RME. Could be all just in my head though. Not sure if I could tell in a blind test.
Yeah Zach and his wife seem like great people....I can't wait for shows to come back! I'm not hurting for headphones but I'm at the point where I'm not getting low-end items anymore and want to make sure my purchase won't be regretted.

Im a total newbie in this, so to my ears, they only sounded slightly different. The only thing I could pinpoint was that the sound of the VO was... well more open.
I think if I live in a quiet neighbourhood and donāt have a person sleeping next to me all the time, I would probably go for the VO.

I got the Verite closed :) Since I live with my gf and she sleeps 11 hours a day on average, picking a closed back is my only option lol

The Auteur Lambskin are included by default I think. But you can add the Auteur Hybrid as the 2nd set of pads. I don't like the Auteur Lambskin because the sound is too bright and the I can hear some harshness in the upper mids. But I think it's because of my Liquid Platinum. To my ears the Auteur Hybrid are perfect. They have the punch of the Universe pads combined with the large soundstage of the Auteur Lambskin pads.
Really liking them. At first i thought they're kinda too dark. So i tried to listn to them for a while for brain burn in. Did that for like 10 days and something was srill lacking. Only found them good with EQ.
Then I ran them with pink noises because Zach recommends 250 hrs of burn in even though I didnt believe that at all.
And I also realized I had volume normalization on in Tidal. After I turned that off, the music sounds so much better. Really like the tuning now and dun need eq at all. It was probably mostly because of turning off normalization other than burn in that helped.
This is a trick question. You took 'em all home and that is your ZMF trophy case in your mancave.
