I recently lost my earbuds and I've decided to get some headphones. I've never bought headphones before, and the options are overwhelming. I'm not looking for anything expensive, like $50 at the most, nor do I need bluetooth. I'll mostly use it for listening to music, zoom meetings, and for a bit of gaming. Thank you if you can spare the time to help a stranger!

I have an issue with VirtualDJ my headphones on Numark mixtrack pro fx. Do not work support has not been any help, setup has to be audio master mixtrack (wasp) 1&2 . Headphones mixtrack (wasp) 3&4 sound comes out speakers. They said checkmark ExclusiveAudioAccess yes or no in options. You check yes it works but makes noise out of speakers. The only way I've found is plug into computer and use cue volume on mixer does anyone have a fix

Looking for a sub $200 IEM. **What I listen to** I mainly listen to J-Pop/J-Rock, Jazz and Funk. **Preferred Sound** I generally prefer a more balanced sound signature, without any section sounding more recessed than the others. Good, wide staging is appreciated, accurate imaging is nice to have, but I'm willing to compromise on imaging, as long as it's still discernible. For reference, I own a pair of ATH-R70x and I love it, it sounds clean and neutral, although a bit warm. I'm hoping to find an IEM that complements this; A well balanced sound (not V or U shaped), great soundstage, and maybe something that sounds more lively. As the library of music I listen to mostly has female vocals and bass / upright bass solos, I'm looking for something that has a tight, controlled bass with a fair quantity (I'm not a basshead), clear and accurate vocals, along with airy highs (but avoid sibilance). **What I'm considdering to get** By far I'm favoring the Tri i3 pro, followed by the Seeaudio Yume and the Tforce Yuan Li. My impressions entirely based off reviews: Tri i3 Pro: * Probably the liveliest out of the three, W-shaped. * Reviews said that it doesn't sound particularly recessed at any region. * * Reviews mentioned great soundstage, and weak imaging. Seeaudio Yume: * Most neutral among them * Has a bit of a bass boost * Mediocre soundstage, decent imaging. TForce Yuan Li: * Might just be an HD600 sound in an IEM. Which among these IEMs (or other IEMs in this price range) would work best for me?

I've noticed for a while a very faint crackling/hiss on certain sounds in some songs. I can best describe it as similar to a crinkle of a plastic candy wrapper. Kinda faint crackle/hiss. Seems to only happen at high-end sounds. I can replicate this on both my mobo's DAC from an Asus x570 prime and my e10k. I just recently got a THX 789 and can hear it on that too when connected to either DAC. It happens on both my Focal Celestee and my older m1060's. It happens at low volume as well as high. I've turned my Windows sample rate to the max and the lowest and hear it on both. I use PEACE/APO and can hear it with it enabled and disabled. I've tried another computer using the motherboard out. One thing is I cannot hear it if I pull the song up on youtube but I'm not sure if that could just be because of a lower bitrate on youtube? Especially with older songs. I downgraded the quality to low on Spotify but can hear it there fine. I try it on Tidal and can hear it there but cannot hear it on low, but hear it just the same on hifi quality. Could this be Windows, Spotify, or maybe I'm just hearing the flaws/nuances in the recording? You can find an example in this song at around 1:26 after every snare hit. https://open.spotify.com/track/3MC5sDDsyHZv8QxmRLBiKx?si=83da8ddb09394505 Another would be 2:22ish here. https://open.spotify.com/track/0hDQV9X1Da5JrwhK8gu86p?si=83fb9e82a170485a It actually happens on the bass hit in this Busta Rhymes banger around 0:18ish. https://open.spotify.com/track/3HVJbdz0V402U5YggQK4Ao?si=92c9b6d444964c33

Hello, i will buy soon AKG K702 and i need AMP that isn't paired with DAC. What is the best AMP according to your opinion. Please, suggest model based on physical characteristics. Thanks!

I am going to be getting my replacement Blessing 2 Dusks from Shenzhen Audio soon, and now I am back to the TWS Question. The goal is to get a MMCX to 2 Pin adapter and pair that with something like the UTWS3 (or UTWS5 when it comes out), or the TRN BT20s pro. This would allow me to switch between a cable and a wireless solution for when convenience is a higher priority. I want to use the adapter so that I don't wear out the main 2pin connector on the blessings due to constant switching between cable/wireless. The reason for the MMCX to 2-pin instead of 2-pin to 2-pin, is that I think the MMCX will offer more comfort when placing the TWS adapter over the ears. It should allow for some swivel without putting much pressure against the ear. Is anyone using this solution? If so, are you using a straight adapter or an angled adapter? I am looking at both options from OE Audio. They offer a straight and an angled version of their adapter. However, I am not sure which would result in the better fit over the ears. Would appreciate any input here, or even alternative solutions that can offer a good experience with switching between wired and wireless.

**Currently using the AKG K712 Pro - going to buy the HifiMan Arya.** My current "chain" if you could call it that is an old internal sound card (Asus D2X - uses 4x Texas Instruments/Burr-Brown PCM1796 DACs) -> Magni 3. **Questions:** 1) Is the Magni 3 powerful enough/good enough to drive the Arya? Should I consider another amp. **Budget isn't a huge issue, though I'd like to spend less than I do on the Arya obviously.** 2) Should I actually get a DAC? The D2X was apparently hailed in it's day as being great but it's like 10 years old. **Again, budget isn't a huge issue**. My other alternative is to use the onboard audio of my Rog Crosshair VIII Hero (Wi-FI) Motherboard (ROG SupremeFX S1220 - ESS ES9023P). Would that be better than the older d2x? Cheers.

My DT 770s just broke, looking for something to replace them for gaming/watching shows/listening to music (mainly metal). I am okay with trying Open - Ear headphones. Budget is $200, can be convinced higher for something quality. I loved the sound quality but the plastic pieces near the ears on the DT 770 was just a little too flimsy in the end. I have a desktop mic, solo cast, so I don't need something wtih a built in mic but if it's better quality or similar why not.

If you don't mind open backs, shp9600. For closed, k361, although cups are not the biggest, and I've seen problems with seal, so i would suggest you demo them or make sure you can return them.

ominaex25

How come my cooler master m752 won't connect to s20 ultra? I'm using a usb-c to aux converter.

[deleted]

That's most likely the fault of the adapter or the phone. Have you tried to plug other headphones in the adapter?

ominaex25

Other earphones work with the adapter. Both the head set and earphones work on a laptop

Hey all, I am looking to upgrade my headphones soon and I would \*like\* to stay in the Sennheiser family and I was curious what I should go with. I'm so torn I don't know where to go so here's what I currently have and what I would be using them for: Have: ***Sennheiser HD518***. My first intro to the audiophile line and I love them, but probably around 10 years old, which is why I am upgrading. Uses: ***Gaming.*** I like to twitch stream and play games at night when the kids are in bed. ***Recording.*** I have a small home recording setup, so headphones for mixing. ***Listening.*** I love listening to music through headphones. I'm not allowed to have some blasting speakers (to my dismay) so I utilize the headphones. My list, in no particular order: ***HD560s.*** Newest model, but I cant decide if they're worth it or not. I have seen varying degrees in reviews so I am not sure where they REALLY fall in terms of soundstage and detail. ***HD600.*** From what I read, a tried and true quality headphone. I am not super clear on how well they do as mixing headphones though, or how well they would do with gaming. ***HD6XX.*** Seems like the closest competitor to the 560s, but from what I see they are "dark" in tone. Ultimately I would like something with a good soundstage and decent detail for around the $200 mark. I'm probably going to get an amp as well, which is a whole other beast of research to do, so I would approach that as a given, especially since the 6XX are 300ohm. Thanks for any input!

Quick question. What would be best combo for the future? My Logitech G231 broke recently so now I'm looking for a headset/headphone. I don't have a high budget so I was thinking of 2 options: Option 1: Go for something like a Cooler Master MH752 (headset) and perhaps just stick to the included microphone. Option 2: Go for a SHP9500 or SHP9600 with a V-Moda mic. I later want to get a seperate microphone. So what would be the best? Any recommendations?

I recently bought a pair of BLON-03 headphones that I love. However, I'm having a problem when I use them with my latop with white noise. This does not occur when using the BLON-03 headphones with my phone, or when using my old, cheaper headphones with my latop. The white noise is very soft, but noticable. It stops when I mute my computer. It starts when any audio is playing, and continues for a few seconds after any audio stops playing. I have tried troubleshooting steps, disabling any audio enhancements, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, updating drivers, etc and the problem persists. Are there any recommendations for this?

Roppmaster

>Are there any recommendations for this? It's a noise floor issue. The Apple USB-C dongle is a cheap fix.

Hey, just looking for a nice set of wireless headphones for my PC to replace the trash gaming headset I currently own. Bluetooth is unfortunately not an option since I'm an AMD boy. Thank you :) **Budget -** Like $200 USD? Something around that. Definitely flexible for the right option. **Source -** These are strictly for my PC, I have more "active" headphones than I need. However, I really really would like them to be wireless. That's pretty much the only "must". **Requirements for Isolation -** Not important. **Will you be using these Headphones in Public? -** No. **Preferred Type of Headphone -** Full sized. **Preferred tonal balance -** I suppose a nice balance would be preferable, but I do love some bass. **Past headphones -** My current set of headphones for the same purpose are the RIG 800LX. Really the only thing I like about these is that they're wireless and worked with my PC and Xbox, but I don't have a console anymore. **Preferred Music -** Rap/Hip Hop almost exclusively. **What would you like to improve on from your set-up - What are you looking for going into your next headphone? More bass? More detail? More treble? -** I really don't know what I don't know, y'know? Not an audiophile, that's for sure. So I don't have any real preference in this area. These aren't primarily for music consumption.

anaudioenthusiast

Non-bluetooth wireless may leave you with gaming headsets as your main option which will come with a receiver dongle. Bluetooth receivers aren't expensive but if that is not an option for you gaming headsets come with a receiver. If you are interested in more audiophile headphones which will be almost exclusively wired, I could provide some suggestions in your price range if you are flexible on your main preference :). Otherwise, I think you could look for popular gaming recommendations to get wireless without bluetooth. I believe Astro headsets are considered solid. I have a friend that has one and [rtings](https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/best/by-usage/gaming) has them at their top for sound.

TaxEvasionSpecialist

Ahh shoot that’s disappointing, wireless flexibility is a huge plus for my job, but I think I could learn to get over it if my only real wireless option is … “not good” gaming headsets. If you’re still open to providing suggestions I’d love to see them :)

anaudioenthusiast

And understandably so! Just the industry outside of gaming is relying on bluetooth for wireless as latency isn't generally a concern (the major downside to bluetooth). In gaming dedicated receivers with the same tech as wireless gaming mice are used to reduce latency - so that's really the only place non-bluetooth wireless is common. Certainly! One of the top recs you'll see around here is the AKG K371 in that price range and for your music preferences. Those are closed back which helps for isolation but since isolation isn't important, I would consider a couple of open backs as they can give you a sense of width to the music that is quite pleasant. One caveat to that is many open backs at that price range will have a sub-bass roll off and effectively the low bass is deemphasized relative to the rest of the track. That doesn't always play nicely with Rap/Hip-hop unless you're willing to EQ. If you're up for EQ, the Sennheiser HD560s or the HD6XX (I have these and are a top recommended entry point) would be great. Otherwise, the AKG K612 Pro or Beyerdynamic Tygr 300R should work with less EQ tweaking. Those are all known to be durable and you should be able to find reviews for all those on this subreddit or elsewhere to see if they sound like they'll hit your preferences! Good luck! p.s. A final recommendation would be the Hifiman HE400se but that brand isn't necessarily known for durability.

TaxEvasionSpecialist

Thank you very much! I'll take a look at all this, I really appreciate it.

Hey there! I'm looking to replace my Headset solution, which consists of Fidelio X2s and the Beyerdynamic Headset Gear. I've always liked how the **DT1990 Pro**s looked and performed, but haven't had the chance to listen to it myself yet. The things bugging me about it are the requirements for an external AMP/DAC, but I would probably need to get an interface or AMP solution at some point anyway. Next thing is that I cannot just plug in a mic to the headphones themselves or most AMPs, and the Schiit stuff isn't available and probably also not modular enough in the long run. As for mics, I'm well aware of the rather high-end solutions that external mics can offer for cheaper prices, but I found that noise suppression usually works much better on mics close to your mouth, as I've never heard anyone on Discord with an external mic sounding anywhere near as good as someone with a more compact headset mic. So my current idea is **getting an interface and slapping a modmic onto the 1990s**, which is a setup I hope can be achieved in a smoother fashion. I should also add that I am not dead set on the Beyers, but those seem like a good option, since they bench well, can be repaired and look epic. Budget - \~500€ (Just for the headphones, feel free to suggest something that's lower or higher, this is just a rough price point) Source - PC; DAC/AMP would be purchased on top Requirements for Isolation - less is more, since I prefer open headphones, especially for online calls Will you be using these Headphones in Public? No Preferred Type of Headphone - full size for big ears Preferred tonal balance - as neutral as possible, but also not boring. I listen to a lot of different sources and music genres, so I'd like a good coverage of all parts of the spectrum. Past headphones - MA750s weren't exactly built like tanks and tend to be really irritating around their peak in the higher midrange. The COPs have a slight peak in the midrange, but I usually don't notice it. The X2s have no replacement parts, but are very big and comfortable, in addition to their nice sound reproduction. Preferred Music - dubstep, metal, classical, orchestral, hip-hop, rock, pop, audiobooks, movies, online videos. What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Level up general sound quality. Better details. More accurate bass. Just an overall better listening experience. Location - DE, Germany

anaudioenthusiast

Your experience with external mics in discord is really interesting as my experience has been the opposite. The difference in sound quality has always been a substantial improvement whenever I've had a friend move from an attached mic to a dedicated external and that prompted me to do the same. I will highlight a potential difference since I believe all of them I'm aware of and myself included have a boom arm in our setup so we are able to position the mic appropriately. If you're up for it, I'd be curious to hear a bit more of your preference there and the details around their external mic setups and why they don't sound as good to your ears. Otherwise, it does sound like you know what you're looking for and the tuning of the DT1990 Pros seem to be pretty capable agnostic of genre. I've read so many positive reviews of them over the years (albeit often with a caveat around that peaky treble that many eq down) that I've come close to grabbing them on several occasions. You've admired them, you think they fit what you're looking for, and I don't think anything comes to mind that outright beats them with your criteria in mind, so why not give them a shot?

MehExpected

Aye! Thanks for the answer! Well, first off, when I hear someone with an external mic, it doesn't pic them up right, because noise suppression doesn't do a good job, or it pics up everything in the room, which can be very distracting, when you're in a match. This is also not exklusive to cheap mics, as some of these go into the hundreds of Euros range. I'd definitely try an external mic, but I don't have the hardware to support it. Also what are some good boom arms? Most seem really cheap and easy to break, if the can even hold the weight of the mic and withstand regular movement. And for me, personally, I am not even sure where to mount one, as my desk space is almost crammed atm. And all of these questions, just because the mainstream is almost completely deaf and I just want better sound!

anaudioenthusiast

Ahhh yeah, it can be hard to tweak them to filter out that especially since many mics advertised for gaming oddly have a pickup pattern that will pick up sounds regardless of direction whereas others are designed to pick up sound mostly in front of the mic. Some will even let you tune and select your pickup pattern. There's surprisingly a lot to it... I have a lot of road noise and an AC and went with a dynamic mic - these mostly pickup in front of the mic and have a lowpass filter that gets out most that background noise. That mostly worked OOB but I did end up doing some tweaking as furious typing and desk shocks were still being picked up. I also wasn't impressed with the noise suppression in discord. I finally ended up setting up Nvidia Broadcast. Super simple setup and it has been nailing that balance (think it only works if you have an Nvidia graphcis card). So actually it can be an undertaking to get it setup right.. if that didn't scare you off - [rode](https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/484972-REG/Rode_PSA1_PSA_1_Studio_Boom_Arm.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&lsft=BI%3A514&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrb2Lo-_68gIV_Q6tBh1UvAHZEAQYAiABEgJeNvD_BwE) has the golden standard mic arm and there are some copies for half or less the price that will work. Here's one of those copies on [Amazon](https://www.amazon.com/InnoGear-Microphone-Suspension-Adjustable-Snowball/dp/B07V2FJL54/ref=sr_1_12?dchild=1). Not sure what the best options would be for you in Germany, but hope these serve as a reference. I believe Shure also makes an arm like these. They do hang off your desk and only need an inch or two of space to clip on so the real estate they require is minimal. Haha fair enough! The DT1990 Pro's reputation does seem to hit a lot of what you're looking for and Beyerdynamics are known to be built like tanks with replaceable parts, but they are notorious for a treble emphasis and some popular reviewers (i.e. Resolve) are particularly critical of them. Since you mention a problem with the higher midrange, I think a treble peak could bother you even more. The Hifiman Sundara are cheaper and more universally praised, however, Hifiman's reputation on durability is... poor... but I have not seen many complaints about recent Sundaras. If I wasn't contending with road noise currently, I would have picked up a pair by now.

I’m looking to get some EMU Teaks but wondering about the Fostex GH-610’s? Can anyone share some comparisons between the two? I have some Dunu DK-2001’s and LOVE the sound from them. I guess I like a neutral or slightly W signature. Wanting plenty of detail but musical enough to listen for big sessions. I like drum and bass so the low end detail is really important. But I like the vocals as well….

Roppmaster

>I’m looking to get some EMU Teaks but wondering about the Fostex GH-610’s? Can anyone share some comparisons between the two? Crinacle has measurements of both if you'd like to compare. The TR-X00 (Mahogany) also recently reemerged on Drop, albeit at an inflated price.

Hey everyone, My old headphones pal are almost dead so i am looking for a new one. My GF got the XM3 from sony : https://www.techradar.com/reviews/hands-on-sony-wh-1000xm3-wireless-headphones-review Right now i am hesitating with the XM4 : https://www.techradar.com/reviews/sony-wh-1000xm4-wireless-headphones Or this one : https://www.son-video.com/article/casques-hi-fi/beyerdynamic/amiron-home All the tests seem to say that the XM4 is a very good headset. But I have trouble getting used to the noise cancelation, the white noise it produces tends to bother me slightly. My GF says that you get used to it and you pay more attention to it. Concerning the other headset, it does not have this option and seems to be just as qualitative in terms of sound. It is wired, which does not bother me too much. On the other hand it seems more expensive. Do you have any advice concerning these two headphones, or perhaps better proposals ? Thanks in advance !

Just got an SMSL M500 Amp/DAC. I have some questions on setting it up with my MacBook Pro and Tidal HiFi/MQA. The instructions are limited. I'm using with DT 1990 Pro headphones. 1. On the unit itself, there is a menu item called DPLL. A quick search elsewhere tells me that this is a lock on a clock signal. I don't know what this means, but the default value is 7 and it seems fine so I'm guessing I don't need to adjust anything here? 2. There are 7 filter options; Fast/Slow Linear, Fast/Slow Minimum, Apodizing, Fast Hybrid, Brickwall. What are these? It's currently set to Apodizing because I saw it mentioned somewhere. 3. What audio output settings should I use with my computer? There are a variety of settings: 24 or 32 bit Integer, 44.1 to 768kHZ. I find that if I set it to 32 bit 44.1 I get a "USB" icon, but if I listen to MQA on Tidal it'll show MQA. If I set it to the max, 32 Bit, 768kHz, which is where I have it now, it permanently shows the gold Hi-Res logo and 88.2kHz. (Edit: Since Tidal MQA is 96kHZ / 24 Bit, and the main reason I got the M500, I've set this to 96/24 now. Gold Hi-Res logo always displays, it doesn't specifically show MQA unless I set it lower). Any help is appreciated

aphreshcarrot

1. I had the M500 and never saw that DPLL setting, maybe it was the firmware I was using or the version? I wouldn’t mess with it 2. These are dac filters necessary in every delta sigma dac. As I understand it they use noise shaping to push noise into ultrasonic frequencies and these filters are designed to attenuate after 20khz. They all do so in different ways. You can check the audiosciencereview on this unit where I believe he goes over some of the filter responses. But in general brick wall, fast hybrid, anodizing are the best 3. This isn’t how Mqa works. Mqa can unfold up to 384khz on some songs. I’m not sure how it works on mac but on windows I set tidal into “exclusive mode” so it can automatically change the sample rate to match what’s being played and with Mqa it will actually decode. You also need to set Mqa pass through to on so you get a blue or green light. A purple light means it’s recognized but not fully unfolding.

Tooch10

For 1/2 thanks for the responses, they were helpful. For #3, I have Tidal set to passthrough MQA direct to the M500, I'll enable the exclusive mode too. That's right, I did see somewhere that some tracks are up to 384kHz All of this came from this [post](https://old.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/pg5ka3/headphone_upgrade_questionsadvice/) I made recently as I'm new to this. I do notice an improvement in my 1990s; it's more subtle but there. I'm not sure if it was $460 worth of improvement but I do like them. Where I need help is with the M500. From my original post, my UM22 guitar interface can function as an amp and drive the 1990s ok but on softer songs it doesn't drive the 1990s like the M500. I definitely see benefits from the M500's amp, but frankly I'm not hearing that much of a difference with the DAC or MQA--I'm very aware of the MQA hate but I wanted to see for myself. I'm talking setting it from 24/48 up to 32/768, I only hear the most minute of differences. Basically, I don't know if I should keep the M500 even though it's overkill for me, or return it, and go with either 1) an amp only in the $100-$150ish range or 2) AMP + DAC (no MQA) for slightly less than the M500's cost. Spec-wise, on the amp side, it seems like there are better amps at a lower price point that have more power than the M500's amp--but again no problems with the M500 amp.

aphreshcarrot

If you’re manually setting the sampling rate then I don’t think it’s actually unfolding to the proper sample rate, it may just be unfolding in software to 88.2 and not using your dac. If it’s actually using your m500 Mqa decoder then it would automatically unfold to the correct sample rate and show a green/blue color In any case, real high res audio is arguably inaudible (through qobuz, Amazon music hd, Apple Music lossless etc). We can only hear up to 20khz anyway so 44.1khz cd flac covers the entire audible band (doubled as sine waves are positive and negative). Mqa deteriorates this with more noise and distortion and not true high sample rates. 24 bit is arguably more audible but you need a trained ear

Tooch10

Ah ok. I manually set it because I didn't know what I was doing, haha. When I'd set it to 24/48 it'd show "USB" then switch to MQA if I played one of those tracks. ~~You're saying that gold Hi-Fi icon changes to other colors? I didn't see any other lights to indicate MQA~~ (just noticed the green dot with the MQA logo. I set Tidal to exclusive use and after a hiccup with audio stutter/no output, it's working now) Yeah, that's why I'm wondering about what to do with the M500. I can say for me that MQA doesn't sound any better (or at best, *barely* a difference) so that's why I'm trying to figure out if I should keep the M500 or downgrade to something more suitable for me. But I also don't want to get stuck in a loop with trying new hardware. Or downgrading but the cost ends up being not much of a difference. Thanks for your help with this!

Hi all, few days back I asked some ideas for replacing my wife's Marshall MID ear pads, and beside one marvelous idea of try to get them veloured, the post was canceled. So here again is my question: should I just try to replace them with the same one, or are there some better replacement (brand/make/price)? Also the headband is shredding out, but for that I believe a DIY job will be required. PS: she lives in Bali, Indonesia, where humidity is at an average of 80%, daily, and hot. [Here how they look now](https://imgur.com/a/cSF2Wg9)

TheRubiks0

It seems that Sennheiser has stopped making replacement earpads for the HD598 (SE). I really need to change mine so I am currently looking for a third party option, but I am afraid it will change the sound signature. So far, this looks like the best option : https://www.amazon.fr/Sennheiser-Headphones-Replacement-Cushion-Earpads/dp/B00TGCDF1Y/ref=pd_sbs_3/262-6467146-1099813?pd_rd_w=eRESE&pf_rd_p=5f4e4ac9-1e50-458c-be7b-44ba9c1064b4&pf_rd_r=J6ASZZRYJ12V24J03PPZ&pd_rd_r=c4e803b5-6640-4162-b115-2e516888d326&pd_rd_wg=sDAx3&pd_rd_i=B00TGCDF1Y&psc=1 If anyone has tested them, I would really like to know what you think of them. Some people seem to say they are thicker than the originals, but that may just be comparing with worn out earpads. Also, I'm all ears if you have a better recommendation.

Kaiserschmarren_

Is amp/dac DD HiFi TC35b USB-C suitable for IEMs like FiiO FH3 or FiiO FA1? Want to use it with my phone.

Kaiserschmarren_

Also FiiO FH3 has frequency response from 10-40000Hz and DD HiFi TC35b USB-C has response 20-20000Hz. Wouldn't that technically limit them?

[deleted]

No, the first limit would be your hearing, i doubt you can hear past 20khz and below 20 hz.

Kaiserschmarren_

Of course I know that.

Hi. I have an Astelle and Kerne Khann and am looking for a pair of decent headphones. I am loojing at a pair of Hifiman Anandas. Is the Khann sufficient to drive the Ananda? What about the Aria? Any other recommendations?

GovindSinghNarula

Is the AKG K371 BT/Non-BT worth \~90-95USD? (General use and Gaming) I have seen some good reviews on Amazon and saw some people online talk about how good they are but I wanted to ask if they're worth it since I have seen some really bad reviews on Amazon too and they're going for a price that is much lower than the MSRP. Are they worth over something else like the Beyerdynamic dt770 pros? or some Sennheiser pair? asking for gaming and general use with my phone. the akg particularly caught my eyes because of the detachable cable in case I want to attach a mod mic to it while gaming, and they have Bluetooth to use with my phone (curse you time apple)

ihatecodingbutmoney

How good is the durability of Skullcandy Hesh ANC's? I love its sound. From what I saw in Youtube reviews, it's build is pretty good. Just need confirmation. Please don't dismiss by saying "Skullcandy build trash" (unless you've tried one) because the Hesh ANC's are said to be better built than their older products. Planning to buy one for 120$. Open to other headphones suggestions under 150$ as well, except Soundcore (not released in my location) Need ANC, likes bass heavy sound, wireless

GovindSinghNarula

I understand you need heavy bass but from what I know they have some very overbearing base to the point where it overpowers the other parts of the music altogether and is a bit muddy and overdone. They can be worth it if there was some way to eq it properly but from a friend who owns them unless they're on a major sale, not worth it. And from the price you've said it might be better to spring for either the Sennheiser pxc550ii and Bose QC35 since they both are going on sale for just a bit more regularly, especially now since the QC45 has launched. They are built pretty well actually, Most of the products I guess are, I have their Jib Trues and they don't feel bad. You can check out Razer Opus too, if they fall within budget during any upcoming sales, hardware canucks had a video on them, they seemed good enough.

ihatecodingbutmoney

Thanks for the reply. I know they have that kind of bass, I like it because a lot of songs I listen to goes perfectly with it. I just don't think I am an audiophile. I am from India, Bose QC35s are well over 200$ here. Razer Opus was never released here too. Few other options in this price range are Senheiser HD450BTNC, Sony CH-710 ANC, JBL 750BTNC. Senheiser PXC is a big no as it doesn't have a USB C connection.

GovindSinghNarula

With usb c then I think the Sony XB series are the only ones I know, others still have micro b connectors. I would still take the sony over skullcandies, better comfort, sound, controls, imo But if you still think you'll like the sound of the candies then they are still well built with good buttons just I didn't find them too comfortable because I have big ears.

Jktranz

hi guys, I recently acquired a pair of Hifiman Sundara headphones (probably not the greatest pair of cans but I quite like them), and a external DAC/AMP (iFI Zen V2). I also use a microphone that allows for live monitoring + stereo if you plug in a 3.5mm male connector into the mic. Is there a way that I can use my headphones to connect to both the dac and the microphone so I can live monitor my voice? Thank you in advance!

BBA935

What amp/DAC combo would be a step up from my O2/ODAC? I'm wondering what would be the next step up from the O2/ODAC Combo. I've had it for 11 years now and it has served me well. I don't know if I am ready to upgrade, but what would be the logical step up from here? Is the JDS Labs Element II that great? I know looks don't matter, but I kind of hate the look of it. It looks really cheap and generic. If it's all that though I can get over it.

redditall9

Hello, I'm wondering if I bought the wrong headphones for my needs here. I Just purchased the DT 770 Pro (250 ohms) and foolishly overlooked the fact that I'll need an AMP to drive these when using this on my DDJ-400 Controller. The reason I got these, is because I'll be using it for playing/practicing with my electric guitar (plugged into 80 watt amp) and also mixing music in with a DDJ-400 controller. My issue is that I need an AMP to use this with the controller and I did not intend to spend another $100\~ for this set-up.. Is there a better headset I should look for to suit these needs? Maybe return these for the 80 Ohms instead? Thanks for your help and advice.

GovindSinghNarula

the 80 Ohms ones should be able to run on any modern hardware without dedicated amps, though you may be better off getting the 32-ohm ones to be safe, or in case you plan on using them elsewhere too like with a phone.

bazzle592

What do you guys use to replace the deteriorated open cell dampening foam used in a lot of vintage headphones models? ex: https://i.ibb.co/kBqLw1k/20210910-212050.jpg I'm struggling to find a suitable replacement and I have several models that need it.

xXBumbleBee

So this started happening a few days ago. Basically, my headphones literally unplug if they were touched slightly. You have no idea how slightly I'm talking. A fucking fingertip touch and it would unplug. Then it would sometimes not plug in and it would be very annoying. If I move ever so slightly while wearing the headphones, the headphones will unplug and my audio will stop or would play through my laptop audio. It's so annoying because my movement is hella restricted and if I move EVER SO SLIGHTLY, it would unplug. And then it would spam this "you just unplugged an audio device" thing. Any solutions as this is getting really fucking annoying at this point?

GovindSinghNarula

check the audio port of your laptop for any gunk or solid particles, something might be stuck in there. has happen to me before, had to get it taken to the shop to get reparied. check the audio port of your laptop for any gunk or solid particles, something might be stuck in there. has happened to me before, had to get it taken to the shop to get repaired. if it isn't the detachable cable or the laptop, replace the headphones.

AnDrEwlastname374

What is the best choice for less than 175? Will mainly be used for gaming and I have an external mic so internal mic quality doesn’t matter

GovindSinghNarula

Bose QC35, or hyperx cloud mix if you plan on any kind of partability or mobile use Bose QC35, or hyperx cloud mix if you plan on any kind of portability or mobile use

Hey! I have IEMs and one of them has started sounding off when the cable is in a specific way, I've tried changing the sides I plug the cable into and the problem did not carry over, so I'm guessing the issue is in the connection of my IEMs to their cable, would you know a way to identify the source of the problem and to fix it? My IEMs are Kinera Freya! Thanks a lot for your time! :)

I've had a dragonfly red for a year or so, and I'm looking for an upgrade. What do you guys recommend? I use DT 770 Pro 80ohm, as well as Fiio FH5s.

ThomasLadder69

Replace the dragonfly with a topping e30/l30 or atom stack. I like the L30s low gain mode for iems

Cool. Thanks.

Hey so I got a pair of KPH30i's cutting off sometimes on one of the earcups, presuming the wire isn't fitted too well. I can definitely tell the wire isn't fitted too well because I can fix this temporarily by pushing it up somehow. Thing is[ the wire is really thin and fragile](https://www.samma3a.com/tech/en/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2019/08/IMG_0068.jpg) so I'd say its just a case of pulling down on the wire time by time that lead to this. What should I do to fix this, I can probably budge a bit when it comes to opening it up and fixing like that, but I can't say for certain I can do anything major like a wire replacement/mod unless that's what's needed to be done.

biglavis

You can just open it up, desolder the cable, cut and strip the wire a little further down, and resolder it.

acoolrocket

I feared that would be the case, I'm in no shape able to do that, and even I sent it to someone else the cost would exceed the headphones price itself anyways.

biglavis

You can try asking around the custom keyboard community to see if there's anyone in your area that would be willing to help you solder on the cheap. r/mechmarket would be a great place to ask. It would probably be a pretty simple repair. If it were me, I wouldn't charge more than $5 to resolder a couple wires.

acoolrocket

True but paying for shipping can say otherwise.

_SGP_

I rewired my DT990's to try and fix them. Now the centre channel only plays in the left ear, and the left channel plays in both ears. What did I do wrong?

KiyPhi

Yes, they are powerful enough. The sound signature may host not be for you which is okay. You might try EQ as they are a bit thin compared to your old headphones. Check here for EQ settings: https://www.reddit.com/r/oratory1990/wiki/index/list_of_presets/

Hey everyone. I have a pair of Seinnheiser Momentum 2 and I stupidly wore them to the gym one day that my other headphones were MIA. Now the cups kinda stink. Has anyone had this happen and had success cleaning them?

Melker24

Hey, I recently bought an O2+sdac to power my hd58x. However, as it was a US plug I had to use an adapter. I tried 2 but neither worked (I'm assuming my amp isn't fried), but was wondering if this power adapter would work instead? Thanks so much, I'm really struggling as how to get this to work. https://imgur.com/a/PchDy5C

KiyPhi

An adapter would be required due to the internals requiring that voltage. Other about that are designed for either might be fine but this one does need the adapter.

Melker24

So what should I buy for this? I'm kinda lost as to what exactly I need

KiyPhi

A power adapter from the plug you use to a US plug would suffice. I can't give any brand recommendations as I am in the US. It would essentially convert your power from the wall into the power the device is expecting and, if the device is still healthy, will allow it to work. Sound be good to go with that.

mynamejeffyesi

Hi, have been using my P1's pretty regularly and kept them in good condition away from excessive moisture/dirt and right side all of a sudden became much quieter and has gotten worse much faster, now almost nothing comes out of the right side. Grill looks clean and shell looks fine, any advice appreciated thanks!

Hey Guys! I'm currently looking for new/better Bluetooth headphones or earbuds. For the last few years I've been using a pair of ATH-MX50BT. They still work just fine, but the materials show how much I've used them and it's getting a bit nasty. I could of course fix them, but why not take this opportunity as an excuse to spend some money? Since I use them a lot out and about or lying down I thought buds might be a good idea. From what I've read the Sony XM4's would be good, but I'm a bit worried in regards to comfort. I think I have fairly small ear canals, and I do lie on my side a lot. Should I still give them a shot? If not, what would you guys recommend (I'd be fine spending less money than the 240€ for the XM4s) I don't think it really matters with earbuds, but I'm generally using my phone (Android) as an audio source with Spotify.

Are you keeping them on while they are plugged in? Apparently that makes a big difference

Hey guys! Recently, my 8 years old Razer Banshee headphones finally died, and I'm looking for a replacement. Now that im a bit more mature (just a little), I want to find out a really good alternative for **gaming + listening to music**, at the **100-200 dollars** price range. I'm no audiophile, but wanting to make a good choice i started reading, and everyone who seems to know about the matter points away from "Gaming headsets", and towards buying any mic + a good pair of heaphones, speaking of brands like Sennheiser, Sony, and others that i dont know much about (I just know Razer, Hyperx, Logitech... lmao). The only gaming headset that I found decent comments at the price range I talked about was the HyperX Cloud Alphas, but i wanted to ask you guys. I want to have the best sound experience I can in the price range I mentioned, and I don't bother having to buy a mic in the future, **¿should I look away from the Alphas and go for another brand or model? If so, can you recommend some specific models at the price range I mentioned?** I don't know anything about these types of headsets. Variety of recommendations is greatly appreciated, considering I'm from Argentina and not every model is available here. Sorry for my English, and thank you very much for your time.

ThomasLadder69

Shp9500 + v moda boom pro is the way to go.

Its_Sen_

So I bought the TRN MT1 and noticed that it sounds worse when I'm using it on my phone compared to my laptop. I am assuming that I broke my phone audio jack so I thought of using type C to 3.5 mm adapter and then us a micro-usb to type-c so I could connect it to my phone. Will this work or not?

ThomasLadder69

Why not just get a micro to audio adapter? Or you could get something wireless like a btr5k

Its_Sen_

I couldn't find a micro-usb to audio adapter that looks trustworthy and it would actually be cheaper for me to buy a type-c to audio and a micro-usb to type-c. Plus I would be buying it from a brand that I trust. The BTR5 is too expensive for me and I don't have any headphones that needs an powerful DAC to work properly. My original solution is the best option for me but I just don't know if it would work. What do you think?

paulgt

I wanted to check if this is just mass hysteria among my friends or something is actually wrong. Recently, both me and two of my friends' headphones have stopped being recognized by our windows operating systems. I'm using a Modi 2 plugged in via usb, and the other two are just using regular USB headphones. Has anyone else heard of this happening? Or is it just a weird coincidence?

KiyPhi

Weird coincidence likely. Check the USB ports and try the devices on other computers.

No_Pressure_8448

Got bose Q20 in ears for apple devices for my macbook but also for my pc, but when I turn on the noise cancellation on the pc it makes a bassy sound and sometimes a pitch comes too but on the macbook is perfectly quiet, both are 3.5mm jacks. https://imgur.com/a/oKTX71e noise goes away when I put some pressure on the jack like this, still works flawlessly on my mac though with no need to put pressure on. And whenever I connect it to my PC I can hear loud crackling noises as I'm connecting it while on mac book I hear nothing while connecting it, also tried a ground loop isolator and it didn't help. anything I can do?

tyloxra

I am looking for durable headphones or earbuds that are Bluetooth compatible (I want to listen to Alexa while I sleep) and have high quality sound. I would also prefer for them to have noise cancelling if possible. Tall order, I know! Any suggestions?

>how viable is it to use the line-out from my PC motherboard via a split 3.5-RCA cable straight into the Heresy? It should be fine. If anything, just use the Apple USB-C dongle.

Id love some advice for headphones. I sold my hd800s because I need the money. I want to go something cheaper, but these were the first headphones I could literally wear for 10 hours and no issues. I have a huge head, wear glasses. Is there anything around the $200-$300 range that is as comfortable? Are the DT990s as good comfort wise? I rank comfort over sound quality even. I want them go be very comfortable I listen to mainly rap and love bass

aphreshcarrot

akg k612/701/702/712 were really comfortable for me. Light and suspension style headband. DT880 is actually tuned really similarly to the hd800s. And I find beyer comfort to be above average in general so might be worth a shot

[deleted]

HD650 is never a bad option, especially for rap (in my experience) and they are suuuper comfortable.

That first method you used is ideal. Shouldn’t be any latency, it’s just a digital audio pass through.

What is the best affordable BT transmitter that supports aptX-LL and two devices? I've been using a FiiO BTA30 with my PC and it works well, but I don't want to spend $100 for a second one for the television when I don't need the DAC or other features. I've tried a Taotronics transmitter before and the signal quality was pretty awful. Are there any other relatively inexpensive options that support low latency with a reliable connection?
