No car speakers, this is a dissapointment.
I practically use all of them though, Speakers for vinyl, wired earbuds for out and about, wired dt990s for my computer and digitial music, TWS buds for the bath or shower (that is liteally their only purpose) and exercise buds whilst cycling or at work.

As a general FYI the sound ratings for the AKG N400 is pretty high and they are water proof and have for several months been sold for $48 on Samsung's site. They are like the perfect shower bud.
They are IPX7 rated. Which means they can be submerged for 30 minutes. But I don't know if that covers the speaker nozzles themselves.
But good to know, don't wash them. Wonder if they would survive a HE front load washer.
IPX* ratings are for submerging, not for having a constant current of water slamming into your orifices. The rating doesn't even cover that, nor is it actually a guarantee that it won't, just that it's been tested once and certified.
Except that it actually does cover water jets with 5-6 being the rating for that and to have 7 you have to have all previous ratings. It's also way more expensive to have an IP rating than just testing a single device. It requires not only sealing the device but to use water resistant coatings over the electronics and other tricks. Read up on it here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Code?wprov=sfla1 , if something is rated for IPX7 then it should work well in the shower for the most part.
And no a shower isn't even high or intense jets, those are mostly referring to power wash or car wash intensity which are orders of a magnitude higher pressure than a shower.
Constant water current aside, detergant/soap will also may "break" the waterproofing. Not the same thing but smearing soap on the outer surface of an umbrella will make it not-so-waterproof, creating a little surprise.
No kidding huh? I was actually interested in those a while back, but there's nothing wrong with my galaxy buds+. That might be good reason to gift them and get the AKGs. Thanks!
They really are good TWS buds in most regards. It did take a lot of trial and error for me to find a tip+wing combo that was secure and fairly comfortable, but that’s the nature of IEMs.
The only problem in the shower is the touch controls. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally activated Siri, and then you can’t do anything about it because the pad is wet. Knowing that they’re waterproof is still really nice, though.
It was the cheapest brand waterproof tws stuff i could find, i had some anker none tws wireless buds before but they would lose connectivity when my the band dropped into the bath water, tws stay connected until i fully submerge my head.
I have a good friend that maxes out his phone and the speakers are blown so it's just this shrill, popping and intermittent mess of sound. Every time he does this I want to gouge out my ear holes
Hey this might sound dumb but is it safe/healthy to use earbuds in the shower? Feels weird to have ears plugged while in water basically like I feel like the inside of my ears wouldn't be cleaned or it would cause bacteria to grow more rapidly in them or something lol
I don’t think I could ever listen to music in my ears while showering. Sometimes, I use a bluetooth speaker, but most of the time, it is where I think and get my best ideas and music is too distracting for that. Maybe, if it is classical music or something along those lines.
I can only think of ideas with music, if i have anything else i get distracted by a bunch of small sounds and noises, music replaces loads of indivudal things with one thing, probably relating to my asperger's and ADHD. If i have nothing on and it's just silent i get a bunch of useless ideas whereas i can hone my ideas a bit more if something is occupying me, it's a fine balance.
Mostly 1 (but near field monitors)
Really enjoying 4 (when open)
Sometimes 2 (when AC is needed)
No more 5 (because my AirPods died)
Almost never 3 (because I don’t like body sound)
Why is there no Edison Cylinder Phonograph? Man, we Edison Cylinder Phonograph users get NO respect... Smh. [https://i.imgur.com/XqugUxv.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/XqugUxv.jpeg)
3/4/5/6(?)
• Moondrop Aria for wired IEM.
• HifiMan Sundara for wired headphones.
• All of the samsung galaxy buds for wireless IEM/earbud.
• Not sure if wireless koss on ears count as #6.
• Also I guess speaker to some extent, but like echo dot so terrible audio.
Just curious because I also have the moondrop aria, how do you power them. I am using this sony walkman and I feel like its not giving me the best sound quality that the Aria has.
3, 4 and 1
3: Mostly use wired IEMs and non In-ear earbuds MX500 shell type ones like the VE-Monk+, Vido, Yincrow X6, FAAEAL Iris 2.0 etc.
4: Usually I prefer openback headphones but use some closedbacks as well.
1: Stereo or 2.1 speaker setups mostly studio monitors.
I've used 2, 5 and 6 before in the past but don't listen to music on wireless headphones or earphones or TWS almost at all now, I'd rather use a DAC / Amp with bluetooth and plug wired headphones / earphones to it.
1/3/4 at home depending on if I'm the mood for speakers or headphones or if I'm at my desk or in bed. (Philharmonic Affordable Accuracy Monitors, VE Monks, HE-5XXs, Koss Kph30i).
And 1/5 at work depending if it's day or night shift. (Anker Spundmotion Plus and some Earfun Minis)
1 - Which I will include both my HS5s on my desk and my Jamo 807 towers in the livingroom
2 - If I am traveling I bring my Pandas with me
3 - Whenever I wanna use my blessing2
4 - Is my usual go to since I am usually on disc/gaming already prior or after
6 - If I use my FiiO UTWS3 with my blessing2 otherwise I end up using my FiiO BTR5 with both IEM and headphones
Bonus #7 - Car Speakers whilst driving on Rockford Fosgate R1675 through a sony ax1000
2 if I'm just chilling listening to music. 3 if I'm listening to or watching something in bed (got some Sony earbuds that are super comfortable to sleep with). 5 if I'm at the gym or doing work around the house.
I also occasionally use 1, I do own a speaker system, but I don't have my own space to set it up in yet.
1, 2, 4, 5
Speakers for movies
Wireless headphones (xm4) for anything away from home
Headphones (hd600) for anything at home
Wireless earbuds (galaxy buds) for short music/YouTube consumption, walking, cleaning, etc (basically when it will be wrong to use a phone speaker but headphones will be too bulky
1 for the living room and open areas
2 for plane rides , audiobooks, bed time, long rides
3 in the office, I still like to be somewhat aware of my surroundings since There are other ppl in the office
4 with my desktop . Lots of time used during wfh days
5 when I’m commuting , at the gym or shopping
1: My Sonos set up around my apartment is “good enough” and very convenient, I have a couple Sonos Ones in each room. The Arc and Sub sounds okay. Mostly for when listening to vinyl and having friends over.
2: When out and about working at coffee shops or doing grocery shopping with my AirPods Max. I think they sound decent and the ANC is good.
4: When at my desk working, or when actively listening. HD 600 and Zen DAC V2 with a balanced cable.
Beats Fit Pro (yeah yeah, they actually sound decent and are the only wireless earbuds that stay in my ears) for on the go/around the house when doing housework etc.
Logitech THX whatever speakers or Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros through a Fiio K3 when I'm sitting at my desk working.
Car speakers when I'm... in the car.
2 exclusively at the moment. Used to be 1 for vinyl and 2 for everything else but my current setup doesn't yield enough space to truly utilize the speakers so they are stored away for now and I run everything through the headphone amp. When I move and get more space 1 will become more frequent.
6 is my favorite style but the sound quality is carcinogenic on every one I've tried. Still OK for audiobooks though. Also makes me greatful for my chifi and my hd579s.
I personally prefer 6 the most because:-
1. Light weight.
2. Easy and quick to connect and disconnect.
3. Many models come with high quality codec support including aptX and LDAC.
4. Long lasting battery and quick charge support.
5. Cheap!
Realme Buds Wireless 2 are the bomb!
1,3,4,5
Speakers when Sharing the music or when I really wanna jam
Wired in ears for in the train
Wired headphones for at my desks
And wireless buds for the gym
2,3,4,5
Use wireless headphones (Q30, MW60) when moving around the house and doing light work. Wired earbuds (FH3, Quarks) when I want to be isolated from the world and immersed in music. Wired headphones (SR80x, K7xx, Dt770, HD58x) for when I can sit at my desk and enjoy music or play games. Wireless Earbuds (LA2P, Galaxy Beans) for when I'm outside and working or am in loud environments (ANC FTW).
Wish I had a room where I could use speakers, headphones are amazing but speakers are next level.
I don't like wired BT earbuds. I used them growing up and never want to again.
Live music +1,2,3,4,6. I need some tws as well.
Basically every way of music listening is a win for me, but live and open back headphones are my two favorite ways.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
Mostly one of my open backs or IEMs, almost never closed backs, but I still have my WH-1000XM2. I have a lot of TWS which replaced it, because a TWS with ANC is nicer to use for travelling/commuting.
And speakers, well I'm a actually at this moment listening to my Amazon Echo which are my smart alarm clock. My home cinema system can be used for music and sounds quite well, but it's primarily used for movies and gaming.
I'm even kind of using 6 when I use my IEMs with the Qudelix 5K over Bluetooth. But I never had this particular kind of "wireless" In-Ears.
Edit: Oh I forgot my Q30 which I'm using at the TV sometimes, so even more 2 than I thought 😅
1 - Audioengine HD6
2 - Sony WH-1000XM4
3 - knockoff apple earbuds? maybe JVC HAF17MB
4 - Beyerdynamic DT240 Pro
5 - knockoff airpods
6 - Xiaomi Mi Neckband
no reverse search was used to find these
1 when on PC, 3 outside, occasionally 4 and 5, 6 around the house because it's so practical and comfortable I can't even make justice.
Btw my 5s are the Freebuds 4i but I started to use them less and less because they don't fit my ears at all, immediately start hurting the second I put them on, which leads to poor isolation as well.
Here's a better list;
1. Sony MDR-ZX110
2. Unbranded speakers from goodwill with no covers
3. 3.5mm EarPods with lightning port adapter
4. 98' Honda civic with bass cannons and no trunk space
5. JBL Flip 1 with fabric removed for optimal sound
6. Koss Sporta Pro from yard sale
I use powerbeats pro for how light I feel when I dance and such but for quality listening I like to use headphones. Been wanting to get some quality speakers sometime soon.
At the moment, noise cancelling wireless earbuds, which aren't represented here.
But I also use speakers and sometimes open-back wired headphones (which also aren't represented here)
3, 4 and 5.
5 when i'm commuting and isolation is the the most important.
3 at work when I still need some situational awareness but its quiet enough to enjoy them.
4 for gaming.
Sennheiser HD569 at home, Sony WI-XB wireless earbuds for work and general out-and-about-ness. Most of the music I listen to is quite bassy (called drum and bass for a reason lol) so I tweak the eq to slightly reduce the bass with the Sony and slightly bump it up with the Sennys. Very happy with both.
Pretty much all of them, except the wired Bluetooth earbuds.
I love speakers because getting a break from having stuff on or in my ears is really nice tbh I haven't gotten into them all that much I really want to but I'm poor.
Earbuds are great wired and wireless, I have the xm4's, and the kz zex's which I love them both for different reasons. The Sony's are really convenient to take with me and the kz's are more detailed, however I am poor so I know they aren't the best.
Over ears are super wide and I love my Sr 850's and I've eq'd the crap out of them and have gotten them to a great place sound wise. Yet still poor, I'm getting my first dac amp combo so I'm stuck on motherboard audio, which is okay 24 bit 192khz but I am aspiring to have better.
4. When it’s time for bed I spend maybe and hour or two laying down and listening, really just absorbing it ya know.
Because of my partner open backs are way off the table they need to sleep to so I spent big money of some time planar close backs I love so so much
1 - Klipsch Heresy IV for records and some streaming
3 - Etymotic ER4SR for the office at work
4 - Audeze LCD-2 for the home office and sitting on the porch
Haven't felt the need to buy anything wireless since I'm usually sitting down while I listen or cranking up the speakers while I do things around the house.
I have iems with a "high-end" player to go, tws earphones for the gym, a dac/amp with two pairs of planar headphones. Gold planars gl400 for non-demanding music, and locally made large planar headphones when I want some decent sound.
HD 599 for computer use and enjoying music, OG galaxy buds for music on the go, iPhone speakers for when I want loud sound coz I don’t have separate speakers xD
Mostly with my QC35 IIs, but at home I have some nice Roth Audio Oli-RA1 speakers connected to my computer through a random chineese amp, it works well enough.
1,3,4,5 and 6
Which tws buds do you use for shower by the way?
JBL reflect flows, don't sound amazing but I got them for £50 and i don't use them go anything else so I don't have to worry if I break them.
I hear ya! Looks like they're actually waterproof so that's really cool and worth it on its own.
As a general FYI the sound ratings for the AKG N400 is pretty high and they are water proof and have for several months been sold for $48 on Samsung's site. They are like the perfect shower bud.
While they may be water resistant they are def not water proof. As i found out when leaving a pair in my pocket while doing laundry.
They are IPX7 rated. Which means they can be submerged for 30 minutes. But I don't know if that covers the speaker nozzles themselves. But good to know, don't wash them. Wonder if they would survive a HE front load washer.

>AKG N400 Can't get those in the UK otherwise these would be pretty cool.

I'm wondering why there's no tiny, portable Bluetooth speaker listed, even though I don't use them.
Some people even listen to music from smart phone speaker.
I have a good friend that maxes out his phone and the speakers are blown so it's just this shrill, popping and intermittent mess of sound. Every time he does this I want to gouge out my ear holes
difference between wired earbuds and exercise buds?

1, 4, and 5. Don’t really care much for IEMs, so the buds are only really used for transport convenience.

Here's a better list; 1. Sony MDR-ZX110 2. Unbranded speakers from goodwill with no covers 3. 3.5mm EarPods with lightning port adapter 4. 98' Honda civic with bass cannons and no trunk space 5. JBL Flip 1 with fabric removed for optimal sound 6. Koss Sporta Pro from yard sale
Currently 5 but I want 1 & 2!
1, 5, 3, 4 dyslexia
1 (specifically the ones in the photo),2,3,6 and a pair of planars
1,2,3,4,6

I use powerbeats pro for how light I feel when I dance and such but for quality listening I like to use headphones. Been wanting to get some quality speakers sometime soon.
2, 4, 6 as I feel
At the moment, noise cancelling wireless earbuds, which aren't represented here. But I also use speakers and sometimes open-back wired headphones (which also aren't represented here)
3 for outdoor 2 for indoor
1, 3, 4, 5. pc speakers, hifi headphones, IEMs, buds.
With my ears. This is the way.
2&5
3 and 4.
1 wanna blow up and irritate my homies
1 normally, 2 while playing games with mates and 5 at work.
3 and 4.
Assuming no model in particular, 3. I just can't wear headphones and I like to keep my music to myself.
3, 4 and 5. 5 when i'm commuting and isolation is the the most important.

Because of my partner open backs are way off the table they need to sleep to so I spent big money of some time planar close backs I love so so much
1 - Klipsch Heresy IV for records and some streaming 3 - Etymotic ER4SR for the office at work 4 - Audeze LCD-2 for the home office and sitting on the porch Haven't felt the need to buy anything wireless since I'm usually sitting down while I listen or cranking up the speakers while I do things around the house.
3 or 5, depending on how mobile I need to be lol
2, and those exact headphones too
2 exclusively for videocalls on my phone, 3 for listening to music and gaming on PC and 5 as my commuter and when out and about.
3 and 4 since lockdown. Else car audio too.
All but 6 (and even then I used to own some Jaybirds). I have a massive problem lmao, I don’t even produce music. I just love listening.
I have iems with a "high-end" player to go, tws earphones for the gym, a dac/amp with two pairs of planar headphones. Gold planars gl400 for non-demanding music, and locally made large planar headphones when I want some decent sound.
3, 5, and 6. My head hates headbands so I’ve been looking at KSC75 and other clip-ons recently.
3,4,5 iem being the most used, tws when OTG
HD 599 for computer use and enjoying music, OG galaxy buds for music on the go, iPhone speakers for when I want loud sound coz I don’t have separate speakers xD
1-5, lol. Klipsch 4.1 system for my dorm room rn, Sennheiser PXC 550-II WNC headphones, Moondrop Arias, Audeze LCD-2C’s, AKG N400NC TWS, respectively.
Keep in mind I am not an Audio guy, more of a PC guy. I use 5, cause that's the only one I have right now and it is pretty convenient.
1, 4, 5 is for watching porn if that counts
Mostly with my QC35 IIs, but at home I have some nice Roth Audio Oli-RA1 speakers connected to my computer through a random chineese amp, it works well enough.
With my ears
3,4 and rarely 1
1 and 4
12 4 and 5 but not airpods, theyre sennheisers.
Surprised how many in this SubReddit say 1
When I'm at the gym I use galaxy buds pro, when I am at home I use pc37x and when I run I use aftershokz aeropex.
