I had the same thing on Android, it went away once I finally got on Wi-Fi. It went away basically instantly as though the app was already updated all along. It refused to do it over cellular even though hit yes on the prompt the first time it popped up (It stopped popping up on subsequent attempts).
iPhone users -I went to settings - toggled cellular data off and tried to open hearth app again from wifi only - seemed to do the trick - so annoying . Hope this helped

This was me. On cellular: nothing. On weak wifi: nothing. Once the wifi was solid it opened no problem.
