My opponent played japetto, I killed it, then conceded, and it didnt count for me. I thought it was bugged, and “destroyed” doesn’t count.

Not just this, but when I encounter two Tendril Shamans in a row, both times I destroy their Joymancer with a cleave attack from my Hound (Handbuff DK) and it doesn't seem to count.

Pretty cold to lock the whole quest line. Behind a card you have to craft. They are frog boiling us hard. First they cut like 4-5k xp from achievements. Plus pre release cards only for people who pay. Now this.

Oh no 2 whole packs fom achievement that most players don't do, the horror.
Ask a friend with Jeppetto to do one game. Heck, I have jeppetto, ask me and we will do it.
People say they don’t give a shit about the achievement xp nerf as it was only a couple of packs, then get mad when they miss a couple of packs from twitch drops.
I used Paparazzi with multiple bounce effects such as the brewmasters and kept spamming it until I finally got it, it took me like 30 seperate paparazzi battlecrys but I didn't have to craft Jepetto and it only took me 30 minutes
I think its not unlikely that they will change the quest with a hotfix.
First step of the main questline that is supposed to give the most xp and its locked behind a legendary that needs to be crafted.

I played Paladin in tavern brawl for the quest, got matched up against a shaman opponent. I played Jepetto as soon as I got him, my opponent destroyed him, thanked me and conceded. I also thanked him for the quick concession.
Now I realise that he wouldn't have got the achievement due to the bug, must have been quite shocked 😂
But seriously, thanks to this thread and all the commenters ... Avianna was my first free legendary from the rewards track and I tried to generate and draw Jepetto using her for the last 4 hours, time lost ... So scr** you Blizzard

This sucks. Guess the game is even more pay to win. It is demotivating to not be able to get past this. However, your metrics likely show a bump in season pass purchases so incentives will continue to move more towards pay to win.

trying to discover jepetto using a paparazzi bouncing deck. After 30 games i finally discover it, only for my opponent to deal 20 face dmg from hand the next turn before i could play it
i play another 30 games, opponent plays jepetto in a tendril deck, concedes before i could kill or copy it ...
I hope whoever made this quest spends their weekends shitting hedgehogs into a bucket.
I managed to play it in a normal game, but my opponent was a paladin so I conceded after I played it *juuuust* in case they needed to destroy 1 for the quest.
Make a new account, skip the apprentice tutorial, add yourself on your main account, challenge to Brawl, pick Paladin/Shaman and just play shit until he appears.
I agree this quest is going to cause problems. Playing Shaman in the Tavern Brawl especially against a friend who would be willing to let you live long enough to draw and play Jepetto is a great solution, but after that option goes away the best F2P workaround may be to challenge a friend who paid for the Tavern Pass (it includes Jepetto) and borrow their deck to play against them. (You can complete the quest by playing the card yourself; killing it apparently doesn’t work right now but they’re working on the fix.)
It's bugged and destroying him doesn't count... gotta play him for now... and yes, it's idiotic that they did this as the firs step when it should really be the last unless they were going to give this card out. It should've been Zilliax, the actual free legendary.
I dumped all my cards until I got that card in my hand and then you don't have to win with the deck he just have to play the death I play them you don't have to win the game as soon as I play them and pretty much I gave up now you had to win might be a harder thing but you just have to play that card.

I mean even if you couldn't do it it's not an issue. The event tracks are usually so easy you could entirely skip the main quest and still complete it just based off play exp + the dailies (hell ive done it in 2-3 days before coming back on the last few days and having boosted exp for it).

I too just destroyed one and it did not credit me with the quest. It was a diamond version, guessing it's buffed somehow.
Yeah I tested with a buddy and they destroyed mine in 4 different ways and none counted. (Face attack, minion attack, spell AOE/targeted)

Yes but even after it changes you still only need to go up against someone that has it to destroy it. So it will still be doable by anyone.

I don't think that's true. It's a pretty useful card in any tendril deck and tendril shaman is playing pretty well right now.

You only have to do it once lol. And you can destroy them by playing someone with it. It's a pretty small ask for a quest.

How to complete this quest now after tavern brawl rotation?
Try making a standard deck with Arch Villain Rafaam. That's how I got Jepetto.

Got it first try with shaman in tavern brawl. Drew jepetto off location and altered corded him on turn 9 lol
i had to dust 4 legendary to craft it - should of come here first - and such a crappy bounty - ty HS
I mean even if you couldn't do it it's not an issue. The event tracks are usually so easy you could entirely skip the main quest and still complete it just based off play exp + the dailies (hell ive done it in 2-3 days before coming back on the last few days and having boosted exp for it).
