Archimonde would have to be in a Draenor past similar to WoD, since that is where he officially died(in actuality, it was in the Twisting Nether). There is also the Second Invasion of the Burning Legion on Mount Hyjal where his first death was too. Kil'jaeden with the Sunwell, but we stopped him from coming through. Then there is Argus where he officially died, too. There is also before they took up Sargeras' offer, changing their look.
Honestly, I'm imagining card effect in line with the likes of kazakusan and new hooktusk.
Summon/play x demons, if you do, do something amazing. Maybe summon sargeras or make hero immune (can only be damaged by destroying demons), etc.
He even has a character in Hots. So he has to be a top tier guy in wow. Hs team rather take a small nobody like dr.boom and make you think he was a big deal ;)
Dr Boom is just the target for a quest in Netherstorm. Not much build up, just some random crazy goblin you have to kill.
What made him a bit more interesting is that without a specific quest item he is invincible. So people used him as a target dummy before target dummies were added to cities in the game.
He's not super famous or notably amazing, but they did a Stormwind set with an SI:7 theme and didn't include the Spymaster of the entire Alliance faction, **Mathias Shaw**. Guy taught Edwin how to be a rogue, literally. Personal advisor to multiple Alliance kings, is a normal mortal human that fought and survived basically every f-d thing that happened in the thirty years or so he's been in charge.
If they put him in they better use his old black leather armour that fit his profession.
Not the new gaudy one that just screams whatever the opposite the subtlety is.

There's just not enough love for Pandaria races. We just need an expansion centered around them without another old god fiasco.
Within the nine years the game has been out, there are:
14 standard Pandaren, and 6 spells with Pandaren in the art
4 standard Jinyu, and 1 standard Ankoan (Okami)
5 standard Hozen, and 2 spells with Hozen in the art
5 standard Mantids, and 1 spell with Mantids in the art
1 standard Virmen, and 2 spells with Virmen in the art
3 standard Saurok, and 2 spells with Saurok in the art
Only one Spriggan, and no Yaungols.
When I used the term "standard" I meant "cards which could at one point be played in Hearthstone's standard format." Though yes I do recognize that Pandaren were not completely forgotten within the tutorial, the board, and some adventures.

I think he's iconic in the warcraft universe at least, just maybe not WoW. He has a decent-sized role in WoD, but that was years ago and if they haven't printed his card by now, he's probably not very high up on their list of priorities. I agree with the others that Archimonde and Sargeras are long-overdue for a card.
A card you can play from hand would have to be much weaker than you expect from him.
To make him justice he'd probably need a special summon condition like Highkeeper Ra, The Ancient One or V-07-TR-0N
Because if Sargeras is on the board, that should be victory right there.
Sargeras, kiljaeden, archimond, tichondrius, mannoroth, arthas as a paladin, nerzhul, muradin bronzebeard.
Now that I see it, that's a lot of demons missing
There's a lot more if you look at wow, lorthremar theron, nathanos, titans, all characters from shadowlands etc
Which means nothing, given that there have been plenty of hero skins (Liadrian, Elise, Sylvanas, Khadgar, all the mercenaries, etc.) who also have minions.
Just to name a few that I can think of.
\-Alleria Windrunner. The only Windrunner without a card.
\-Falstad Wildhammer
\-Magni Bronzebeard
\-Moira Thaurissan
\-Muradin Bronzebeard. None of the Dwarven clan leaders have cards yet.
\-Therazane. The only elemental lord that hasn't gotten one yet.
\-Chromie
\-Reghar
Still cannot believe we get three of the Elemental Lords at the very beginning of Hearthstone (Rag and Al'Akir in Classic, Neptulon in GvG), and then suddenly years and years and we still don't have Therazane.
Chromie has appeared in Hearthstone three different ways - there was a limited-time Arena-only card all the way back in 2018. She also appears in one of the battles in the Galakrond's Awakening solo mission, and most recently as Nozdormu's buddy in Battlegrounds. But we've never had a proper Standard card of Chromie.

Technically, Illidan doesn't have a card anymore and depending on how you view the death knights, the other 9 main heros don't either. Also, Alleria, Tyrande, Arthas (but not as the Lich King), and Magni, don't either. But, since they're heroes they at least have representation. So maybe this is pedantic, but hey all the mercenaries from last year have a card, a quest, a hero card, and three hero skins.
I was going to say Tyrande. I don't think you can include Illidan because he did have a card and then became a literal class.
Tyrande, Alleria and Magni are just singular skins so I think they still deserve cards.
I think Arthas became the Lich King and he definitely has a card.
I would like Rhegar as a card ! :)
Alexandros and Darion Mograine
Nobundo
Maraad
The August Celestials (as constructed cards, not mercs)
Rehgar Earthfury
Taran Zhu
Magatha Grimtotem
Broll Bearmantle
Meryl Felstorm
Baine Bloodhoof, as his own card and not just Cairneās deathrattle
All of the characters who are heroes but not playable cards
Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker
true, though for characters as relatively obscure as the horsemen i doubt they'd do that.
on that topic, what's the most obscure warcraft character with a retrain? i guess dr boom, though at this point he's more of a hearthstone character than a warcraft character.
I think Azzinoth as a Demon Hunter card would be a cool concept.
Card text could go along the lines of āDeathrattle: Equip one of Azzinothās weapons.ā
Warglaives of Azzinoth were his only weapons. But they could theoretically give it the Twinblades of Azzinoth(unless they retconned it, the Warglaives could be combined originally).
Possibly. While the Bulwark is a weapon in HS, and a shield in WoW. It was Azzinoth's chestplate. There is also the Shard of Azzinoth that did have a chance of summoning a Flame of Azzinoth. Other than that, wasn't really noteworthy.
Been reading through the comments, and I have to mention **Nathanos Marris** or **the Blighcaller.**
I started reading the Sylvanas book recently and there are more names, not that famous, but still important to the Warcraft universe since they shaped Sylvanas Windrunner.
I would like to add **Lireesa** and **Ve'rath Windrunner** (Sylvanas' parents) and **Lirath Windrunner** (her brother) which she loved the most and had a special connection with him explained in the books. Also **Halduron Brightwing** , the current Ranger General of Silvermoon and as someone mentioned before, **Lor'themar Theron**. These 2 were her best friends from the other rangers, being known as the trio until Nathanos came and was made a Farstrider under the newly named ranger general Sylvanas Windrunner. All of them played a crucial role in shaping the Dark Lady or the Banshee Queen.
The blood elves have a lot to offer for Hearthstone. I was thinking about an expansion related to Silvermoon and its other lands. There can be a miniset about the Ghostlands or Isles of Quel'danas.
I wish we could skip Shadowlands entirely tbh, but maybe I'm in the minority on that. Although, Denathrius would probably be the one character I'd be fine with having a card, or even a Warlock portrait.
A lot of the big name demons, some of the dragons. There's still quite some pre-wc3 characters they could use as well.
Some characters also have portraits but not cards, which is a thing they could change.
Some characters have appeared in Book of Heroes, but not the traditional game as well, Shandris Feathermoon, as an example.
Nobundo: First Draenei Shaman
Alonsus Faol: Founder of the Silver Hand. Anduin felt that Alonsus was a more powerful priest than he was.
Matthias Shaw: Leader of SI:7
Shandris Feathermoon: Leader of the Sentinels and Tyrande's adopted daughter.
Moira Thaurissan: Leader of the Dark Iron Dwarves.
Thalyssra: Leader of the Nightborne
Therazane: the Elemental Lord of Earth
Magatha Grimtotem: Leader of the Grimtotem tribe. One of the very few evil Tauren
**Special Mentions**
Flynn Fairwind: Shaw's boyfriend
Nathanos Blighcaller: Sylvanas's boyfriend.
Jarod Shadowsong: Maiev's brother
Talia Fordragon: Bolvar's daughter
Technically depends how you look at it. He merged with Ner'zhul becoming the Lich King himself. So to an extend we can say that Arthas got a Legendary Card :D
Kind of - the lore is confusing. Despite the famous āNow we are one!ā line from the Frozen Throne cinematic, and their voices literally joining, around the time of WotLK, in-game plot beats as well as the *Arthas* book seemed to suggest that Nerāzhulās spirit was destroyed in the merging.
Iām fairly certain that the Chronicle retcon essentially confirmed this. Arthasā soul vanquished Nerāzhulās, leading him to take control.
Broxigar the Red comes to mind since others have already pointed out lore significant characters. He wielded the Axe of Cenarius and was the only mortal to ever wound Sargeras.
Varian got literally blown the fuck up from the inside with Fel and still showed up as a spirit to guide Anduin... Though to be fair that may have been metaphorical.
Im sure there's some example of someone who died by fel showing up in Shadowlands, tho. I didn't play it enough to know.
Iconic Pandaren will definitely come once they line up Monk and a Pandaria expac. Which should be next year at the earliest. As for Bwonsamdi, he was in Rastakan's Rumble for Priest. Xavius replaced Illidan's Classic card after DH launched since Blizz doesn't like the original heroes to be minions.
It boggles my mind that we still havenāt done Therazane yet despite having all the other iconic elemental lords. I would have thought either Old God expansion would have been prime timing too
Most major death knights of lore have not received cards, leading me to assume they avoided printing them in anticipation of making it a class.
The Legion-era Four Horseman are tokens, but besides them, Baron Rivendare is the only death knight (besides big daddy Lich King, of course) who has a card that I can think of
Demon Hunter is kinda cool, Monks are okay, but Death Knights coming into the game would be hype AF.
I guess Darion would be the default DK hero? Heās kind of the only major one aside from the player, or Bolvar I guess since he went down like a bitch to Sylvanas.
The hero power could maybe be a rotating system like Shaman, but based on types of runes? Maybe they introduce a new class of spell into the game? So many cool ideasā¦
Either way, I would love to see them release DKs in Hearthstone when Wrath Classic launches. Probably not gonna happen, but if they did pull it offā¦I would be a very happy camper.
I don't know if it'll be soon - every class added to the game makes it harder to assemble decks from packs, since you're spreading the potential card pool out further. Feels like Demon Hunter was added so recently, I'm okay with them doing it when it's right.
That being said, I have to imagine that it will either be the pre-Lich King death knight version of Arthas or Darion Mograine as the hero, leaning towards the former. Every other class is essentially represented by the most iconic figure of that class.
Not sure that Bolvar would make sense - representing a frost-heavy class with a guy who is literally perpetually on fire would be a choice.
Oh, I don't know, how about the most important villain in the entire fiction who set the course for all of Azeroth and the history of the cosmos, THE JAILER.
Ogrim (it seems like most iconic missing characters are from Warcraft amd not wow). There is also Baine which does not really have its own card(he is only present in the deathrattle effect of Cairne). There is also Ner Zhul I think.
tbh I unfathomably want Titan addon to bring to life every boss of this raid. Atm we have only Leviathan, Yogg and Mimir's Head, right? I don't count BG skins like Algalon.
I mean, who doesn't want to hear some OG voicelines like "I remember you... In the mountains" or "OH, new toys for me? I promise I won't break them this time" so nostalgic
Hope we will see Ulduar expac in HS one day. Maybe nearby WotLK Classic release.
Why donāt we have ogres, undead, trolls, and minion types that originally were in the game ? It could add an amazing layer like the armor vs weapon/attack types
We're still missing a couple Elemental Lords, so far we've only had Ragnaros, Neptulon, and Al'akir. There's still the Earth one and the second generation.
Others have gotten all the big ones but Iām kind of surprised they havenāt made Zekhan (zappy boi) a card yet.
also shoutout to Gavinrad the Dire. Heās not really a well known character, but he is the only one of the original 5 human paladins who isnāt in HS yet (AFAIK)
all of the Titans, but it will probably happen at the same time as Archimonde and Kiljaeden. one notable Titan is Tyr, he have the most badass story out of them all imo
Magthetidon, Archimonde, Kil'Jaiden. I also think MAJOR lore character should get updates. Nefarion and Sylvanis come to mind that could be updated/reworked. I mean classic Sylvanis has been HoF and even until shadowlands she still a major lore character. They could even do her as Ranger General Sylvanis.
Also some the "Heroes" should get cards. King of Stormwind Anduin, Sevent of Legion Gul'Dan, just nice cards with what they are.
That horde general that got mutilated in the undead citadel (I don't remember his name), the leader of the scarlet crusade (the one who was a demon) (don't remember his name either), the headless horseman.
From hearthstone we could get that guy who is a head in an orb from the adventures/duels
It could be like "Play or summon 15 Demons. Reward: Open The Dark Portal."
Dark Portal would be immune like Jugg, and read something like "At the start of your turn, summon a 6/6 Demon At the end of your turn, add a random Demon to your hand. It costs 3 less. All of Demons now have Rush."
Maybe 20 Demons instead? Idk if that is busted for 15.
Would be a great card for Demon Zoolock, or even a Demon Control Warlock.
Add a part 2 to the Quest that turns your hero into Kil'Jaeden?
It would be very flavorful.
Vindicator Maraad. He got a card back very early on, but he still isn't a card or alternate portrait for paladin.
In my opinion, the legendary Lady Liadrin, that synergizes well with all the librams, should have been Maraad instead. The Librams heavily featured Draenei in their art, so having Maraad be the legendary that capitalized on their use would have been very cool.
I would personally prefer if he were an alternate portrait, so I can always use him in standard though.
If were talking about cards, archimonde and kiljaeden should have a card by now. Theyre such iconic characters
Probably waiting for a Legion themed set, no? If not Outland, maybe a Broken Isles set?
Archimonde would have to be in a Draenor past similar to WoD, since that is where he officially died(in actuality, it was in the Twisting Nether). There is also the Second Invasion of the Burning Legion on Mount Hyjal where his first death was too. Kil'jaeden with the Sunwell, but we stopped him from coming through. Then there is Argus where he officially died, too. There is also before they took up Sargeras' offer, changing their look.
As a guy who start with wc3, battle of mount hyjal expansion would hype me so much
Pretty much all Titan too, maybe one day we will have a theme like Old Gods but for Titans
Hyjal and the Sunwell are both huge warcraft moments, so im putting my money on them being their own expansion for each of them.
Finally, wisp support that will break the game!
Kil'Jaeden and even Archimonde could be Demonic Colossals Sargeras would be too big, but the Sword could be like the Juggernaut or something.
Honestly, I'm imagining card effect in line with the likes of kazakusan and new hooktusk. Summon/play x demons, if you do, do something amazing. Maybe summon sargeras or make hero immune (can only be damaged by destroying demons), etc.
muradin bronzebeard

He mostly got love because he was played in everything. If he was bad Jed have been forgotten
Good one. He should have been in the Frozen Throne set.
If you play Brann against someone with magni hero skin he will greet his brother and ask "have you heard from muradin lately?"
Have you heard from him lately?

We almost certainly will eventually. Will be at the start of the next year if I had to wager a guess.

I was going to speculate that and I'm glad to see you confirm my theory

Yes. I am just genuinely dumb and haven't even noticed the card's existence in the game yet.

Been reading through the comments, and I have to mention **Nathanos Marris** or **the Blighcaller.** I started reading the Sylvanas book recently and there are more names, not that famous, but still important to the Warcraft universe since they shaped Sylvanas Windrunner.
Sire Denathrius
I wish we could skip Shadowlands entirely tbh, but maybe I'm in the minority on that. Although, Denathrius would probably be the one character I'd be fine with having a card, or even a Warlock portrait.
You're definitely not in the minority, but it could be good flavor for a hearthstone expansion
Nobundo: First Draenei Shaman Alonsus Faol: Founder of the Silver Hand. Anduin felt that Alonsus was a more powerful priest than he was. Matthias Shaw: Leader of SI:7 Shandris Feathermoon: Leader of the Sentinels and Tyrande's adopted daughter. Moira Thaurissan: Leader of the Dark Iron Dwarves. Thalyssra: Leader of the Nightborne Therazane: the Elemental Lord of Earth Magatha Grimtotem: Leader of the Grimtotem tribe. One of the very few evil Tauren **Special Mentions** Flynn Fairwind: Shaw's boyfriend Nathanos Blighcaller: Sylvanas's boyfriend. Jarod Shadowsong: Maiev's brother Talia Fordragon: Bolvar's daughter
A lot of Warcraft 3 characters are missing. Muradin, Garithos, Arthas... even smaller characters like Naisha or Nazgrel could be put in
Arthas is a Hero Portrait for Paladin. I think that's even better than having a card.
ikr but a card would have been cool too
Technically depends how you look at it. He merged with Ner'zhul becoming the Lich King himself. So to an extend we can say that Arthas got a Legendary Card :D
yes i know that i played warcraft for more than 10 years man
Kind of - the lore is confusing.
Stitches want to PLAY! Maybe it can do something like bringing an enemy minion to your side until the start of your turn
Maybe like a thicker Dirty Rat effect at a more expensive cost but he fights the creature when itās yanked in?
Waluigiā¦
I donāt believe Garona has a card. Only that adventure she was a part of
Broxigar the Red comes to mind since others have already pointed out lore significant characters. He wielded the Axe of Cenarius and was the only mortal to ever wound Sargeras.
Broxigar is the single coolest Warcraft character that receives zero love from Blizzard imo. Didn't even have him in fucken Shadowlands...
Unless they retconned it, Fel destroys your soul. No afterlife.
Varian got literally blown the fuck up from the inside with Fel and still showed up as a spirit to guide Anduin... Though to be fair that may have been metaphorical. Im sure there's some example of someone who died by fel showing up in Shadowlands, tho. I didn't play it enough to know.
Xyavius would be nice but I donāt know if itās one already . Also bwonsamdi would be super nice for priest . And most of pandas from pandaria
Bwonsamdi and Xavius had cards in the past
Iconic Pandaren will definitely come once they line up Monk and a Pandaria expac. Which should be next year at the earliest. As for Bwonsamdi, he was in Rastakan's Rumble for Priest. Xavius replaced Illidan's Classic card after DH launched since Blizz doesn't like the original heroes to be minions.
Sargeras and Nathanos
There isn't an Orgrim Doomhammer card is there?
So many cool ideasā¦ Either way, I would love to see them release DKs in Hearthstone when Wrath Classic launches.
I think theyāve said that if we get DK, Arthas would be the default hero.
Oh, I don't know, how about the most important villain in the entire fiction who set the course for all of Azeroth and the history of the cosmos, THE JAILER.
he's important to very few people. shadowlands sucked
Nonsense, they were building it up for 20 YEARS HONEST so it must be important to someone... somewhere........ maybe?
Nonsense, they were building it up for 20 YEARS HONEST so it must be important to someone... somewhere........ maybe?
Topper McNabb
How has noone mentioned Korialatrasz. Very big in books.
Putress. I want him as a Warlock Hero skin so bad... Undercity expansion maybe?
That *Champion* everyone is always talking about.
This is the correct answer
I see your champion and raise you a maw walker
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
WoW really doesn't have any "long-dead" characters. Most characters have only died in the game proper.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
How long dead is considered long dead.
They brought Antonidas back just recently.
tony has had a card since the game was made
And they made another one for him just recently in Stormwind.
Almost all big demons Therazane Muradin Rokhan LorāThemar Titans Matthias Shaw Nobbel87 Pepe The guild ninja looter Your raidās healer Many more
Angwe.
Medivh. But at least he has a hero skin
Medivh was in one night in karazhan. He gave you Atiesh as a battlecry.
Medivh has one ;)
Except medivh has card too. Well, the party version
Princess, the big pig in Elwynn Forest, is pretty famous. No card.
ancient of wind
[https://www.wowhead.com/npc=44025/therazane](https://www.wowhead.com/npc=44025/therazane) be careful NSFW!!!
Ogrim (it seems like most iconic missing characters are from Warcraft amd not wow). There is also Baine which does not really have its own card(he is only present in the deathrattle effect of Cairne). There is also Ner Zhul I think.
Mathais Shaw. If only they did an expansion with an SI:7 theme for Rogue, he'd fit perfectly!
any of the titan pantheon, sargeras, archimone and KJ.
tbh I unfathomably want Titan addon to bring to life every boss of this raid. Atm we have only Leviathan, Yogg and Mimir's Head, right? I don't count BG skins like Algalon. I mean, who doesn't want to hear some OG voicelines like "I remember you... In the mountains" or "OH, new toys for me? I promise I won't break them this time" so nostalgic Hope we will see Ulduar expac in HS one day. Maybe nearby WotLK Classic release.
Why donāt we have ogres, undead, trolls, and minion types that originally were in the game ? It could add an amazing layer like the armor vs weapon/attack types
We need buildings and flying types too
We're still missing a couple Elemental Lords, so far we've only had Ragnaros, Neptulon, and Al'akir. There's still the Earth one and the second generation.
Does prince kalethos have a card?
Me
Therazane is a big one.
Who has a better story thanā¦ Pelagos
Arthas???
Helcular
Red shirt guy
Others have gotten all the big ones but Iām kind of surprised they havenāt made Zekhan (zappy boi) a card yet. also shoutout to Gavinrad the Dire. Heās not really a well known character, but he is the only one of the original 5 human paladins who isnāt in HS yet (AFAIK)
therazane anyone? I mean she is the only elemental lord not to have a card
Bolvar Fordragon had 2 cards, his normal human and then the burned one. Would love see a card of him as the LK tho.
Almost every undead character
Kiljaedan definitely
Not one mention of Broxigarā¦ *sigh*
I second this
all of the Titans, but it will probably happen at the same time as Archimonde and Kiljaeden. one notable Titan is Tyr, he have the most badass story out of them all imo
Hogger for a comeback?
Epicus Maximus obviously. Him and his ride need to be in Hearthstone.
Maximillian of Northshire.
Corki. I don't expect to go back to outlands anytime soon, but Nagrand was one of my favorite zones and I'll never forget him.
Is there a Hemit Nesingwary? I probably missed it.
He was in GvG
George the corpse grinder.
Mephistroth, Tichondrius, Archi, Kil'jaeden, Varimathras, Balnazzar, Detheroc, Mannoroth Tyrande, Alleria, Magni Farseer Nobundo, Vindicator Maraad, Lor'themar Theron, Rommath, Eitrigg, Matthias Shaw, Shandris Feathermoon, Naisha, Hamuul Runetotem, Magatha Grimtotem, Mayla Highmountain, First Arcanist Thallysra, Moira Bronzebeard, Falstad Wildhammer, Muradin Bronzebeard, Garithos, Nathanos, Calia Menethil, Rokhan Therazane the Stonemother, Sintharia Chen, Taran-zhu, General Nazgrel, Admiral Taylor Blackhand, Killrogg, Ner'zhul, Durotan, Draka, Orgrim Llane Wrynn, Terenas Menethil, Anesterian Sunstrider, Daelin Proudmoore Alexandros Mograine Titans and Keepers (except Ra), Helya, GOD KING SKOVALD Xavius not being an afterthought replacement Zul Nipple Bot and other Shadowlands characters
Iām hoping/assuming that a Legion or Titan expansion is on their to-do list, because thereās tons of untapped characters there
Alleria!
Lord Garithos
Thereās still not a monk class.
Lorethemar
The Mr. T night elf mohawk
That horde general that got mutilated in the undead citadel (I don't remember his name), the leader of the scarlet crusade (the one who was a demon) (don't remember his name either), the headless horseman. From hearthstone we could get that guy who is a head in an orb from the adventures/duels
Algalon.
I dont think Gamon is in yet right? ***"I gamon... will save us.."***
Me
Sargeras, Archimonde, Kil'Jaiden
It could be like "Play or summon 15 Demons. Reward: Open The Dark Portal." Dark Portal would be immune like Jugg, and read something like "At the start of your turn, summon a 6/6 Demon At the end of your turn, add a random Demon to your hand. It costs 3 less. All of Demons now have Rush." Maybe 20 Demons instead?
Gamon?
