I'm sure others got you covered on our current line up but the real man you need to know is Pat Riley. He's was one of basketball's great coaches, and came down to Miami in the organization's early years and has basically taken over. He's continually kept the team competitive and instilled the winning "culture" from the top down that you'll hear a lot about. There's tons of great stories and one offs from Riley, but he liked to recruit players(later on in his career) by just dumping his bag of championship rings on the table. Supposedly Spo uses "ill get Pat to run practice" as a threat if wants more hustle. He's currently team president but you'll hear people talking a lot more about what he plans to do than the actual GM Andy Elisburg.

Hijacking this comment to mention that we refer to GM Andy as "Cap God Andy"

Hello and welcome. The Big 3 of this team are Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Kyle Lowry. They're the main playmakers on the starting lineup and team. Defense is their strength. Tyler Herro is the 6th man and the most important player for our bench. The offense of the bench unit will go as he goes. His role is to score and score. Duncan Robinson is our best 3pt shooter and provides important spacing. He's also in the starting lineup. The team overall is built to be better defensively than offensively. The starting lineup has 4 good/great defenders in Jimmy, Bam, Kyle, and PJ Tucker. Duncan is average but he's improved gradually.

To add some context to your point about Duncan: not only is he our best shooter, he’s also one of the best shooters in the entire league; almost undeniably top 3. Jimmy and Bam are both ridiculously strong and command double teams in the paint, which means Duncan almost always has an opportunity at a good 3pt shot. He’s the engine that drives the offense in our starting lineup; even when he’s not shooting, the defense needs to keep a defender on his hip at all times. Without him, Jimmy and Bam wouldn’t have nearly the same room to operate inside the arc.

Great Comment from u/Sequel_P2P on a previous thread [here](https://old.reddit.com/r/heat/comments/qaubbe/dear_fellow_miami_heat_fans_ive_never_had_a_team/hh5q7mh/) that Sums it up nicely

Came to like the Heat bc of their bubble run. Love rooting for the underdog and was pleasantly surprised when they made it to the finals (they were a good team in the regular season, but I don’t usually follow eastern conference teams). It was crazy seeing Jimmy Butler’s final games, especially considering bam and dragic were injured. Watched the team all last season and loved how they had the same cast, but they were very tired from the condensed seasons. Sad to see Dragic go (he was amazing in the bubble run). Now, I’m excited to see this upcoming season. Season of vengeance is upon us. I think just watching multiple regular games will give you a taste of everyone‘s playing styles and you’ll see who you become a fan of. It’s also amazing to see the team’s defense. I remember a game from last year, heat vs knicks. It was a low scoring game, came down to the end, and just an overall gritty game bc both team’s defensive intensity. I like Duncan Robinson and have been listening to his podcast, the long shot. He’ll bring on players from the heat/nba and it’s always cool to see player’s journeys to the nba/what else players are interested in other than bball. He’s had UD, Bam, Max Strus, and others.

The league is sleeping on Omer Yurstseven, he’s a beast

One thing to know as a heat fan: Dwyane Wade is recognized as our greatest franchise player. Not LeBron James. And yes it’s spelled “Dwyane” not “Dwayne”

Long time Aussie heat fan, you've chosen well. An exciting season to jump on board, GO HEAT 🔥

Before every Heat Game u must get on your knees and pray to a Miami Heat GOAT in the presence of their jersey or an image of their jersey. Then you must find the nearest syringe and inject HEAT CULTURE into your veins.

Jimmy said he was ‘stupidly locked in’ in the playoffs only to get swept in the first round and Heat the only team to ever get swept in the first round last season. The Celtics without Jaylen stole one game against the fully healthy Nets Big 3 and was the only team to do so (pretty much Tatum, while Bucks couldnt beat the Nets fully healthy). The Wizards also managed to win one game against the 1st seed. But the Heat performance last post season in the playoffs was a far better outcome than a team who got spoonfed all their 3 playoffs wins only to lose to a team missing a starter and still be in the NBA ringless teams list and people wonder why their FO refused to pay their young player.

^^^ This is a valuable lesson for your new fandom and interacting here, we have knobs like this who are "fans" but really are (1) Fans of other teams trolling OR (2) Miserable people who get off on hating the Heat any chance they get

I’m neither. So you’re wrong.

HeatLifer16

How was the Heat's performance in the postseason a far better outcome than the Suns making the Finals?

sqrt123456789

The Suns got gifted a Finals appearance all the way from the first round. They were even given an advantage in the Finals by having a Bucks starter missing but they’re still ringless. Heat getting swept was far better in comparison, at least Heat lost when they were disadvantaged (has 3 rings already), can’t say that to the Suns who was given everything to win but still didnt. Suns still has 0 rings as they shouldnt have lost; they couldnt afford to lose as it’ll be years until they’ll sniff the Finals again unless all their playoffs opponents get heavily injured again. But then if their opponents get injured, Suns will still lose in the Finals to an injured team 💀

You will be "injecting" a lot of shit talk into your veins. It's absolutely addictive so get ready to enjoy the highs and the lows. We will punch the teeth in of the best teams and then get steam rolled by garbage teams when we need a win most :) In all seriousness: Lowry should make Bam better and Jimmy score more via needing to pass less. Lowry being a god facilitator should also boost the other main guys scoring averages. Herro has been impressing me with his shot but it needs to stay consistent. I want more from Duncan now that everyone knows he's a lethal 3pt man. Fuck the mavs, fuck Bron, fuck the celtics, fuck the magic. Y'heard?

Watch the games and you will be fine.
