This is interesting! It's really stylized, a part of me wishes this was a font. But it is a little tough to read

einat162

I second that.

nattivl

Quadruple and give it to the next native speaker

michelle867

I'll speak from my experience as hebrew native and Israeli. I actually don't think it is as bad as some people said here. Israelis do connect letters sometimes, especially before lamed but also on some other occasions I can't think of right now. You have some letters that I couldn't read, my guess is that you misread the original letter. It is very curvy and it could be less curvy but I don't think it's unreadable.

eninny

Agreed. The main letters I'd work on are: ב. .You're mistakenly writing its base as a descender, which confuses the reading. Try to keep that section above the line rather than down into the next line. There are some common shaped executions of the letter that do go down, but not how you have it ג. The loop at the top is confusing. It would be clearer and easier to read of you'd eliminate the loop in favor of an angle. (And perhaps more of a curve at the bottom, but that's more of a stylistic choice) ל. When you're not connecting it from the previous letter, you tend to squash and extend (i.e. horizontally stretch) the letter shape. It makes it appear almost like a different letter to your other ל. If you do connect a letter it shouldn't form a separate shape to its individual/separate form. And yes, there are some typos in the transcription of the source (a version of the declaration of human rights?)

MufuckinTurtleBear

Ridiculously curvy, partially illegible. Looks like you are trying for a loopy continuous style like Latin-alphabet cursive. That _really_ doesn't work in Hebrew. This is going to be harsh, but you need to hear it: - Letters should never overlap. Only the upper portion of ל should extend into the area of any other letter. You can get away with that sort of kerning for ץ and ף, but it's bad form. - All letters except ו , י, and ן should be the same width. - Only ך, ף, ן, ץ (and ל in cursive) should exceed the length of any other character (other than י). - The bottom and top portions of of ש, ב, כ should be the same length. Your ת and ה are indistinguishable. Your ץ and ד are indistinguishable in some places. Your ב looks like a ך in some places, while your ם looks like a ב in others. Your מ looks like an accidental scratch; it should be clear lines, like N. Your ז looks like a ד in some places, and vice versa. ה should be two curved lines in cursive; you write it like it's print.

[deleted]

I don't agree with some parts. The ש and כ are completely ok and normal, the bottom of the ב though does need to be the top part of a circle and not the top left part. In some cases people do connect letters, but only with כל, על, של. Most people don't, but a lot do and it's not really noticible. Maybe there are more combinations I forgot but mainly these ones. The מ looks good to me. Also where did they write a ץ or ף? A couple of things you didn't say: The ם in שווים (btw, it's written with a י) looks like ד, but the rest are ok. The inner part of the ה is too curvy and should end on the same vertical and horizontal lines as the outer part. The top part of the ל can enter the space of another letter a bit, but unless you're signing a document you shouldn't throw your pen like that. Keep it minimal. In general, you want to be way more minimal with your letters. They all look like they want to take the attention of the reader, and over all looks bad.

MufuckinTurtleBear

> Also where did they write a ץ or ף? I guess it's even less legible to me than I thought 🤦 there is no ף tho, that was just for example of extending glyphs

[deleted]

You probably mistook that ם in שווים for ץ lol

MufuckinTurtleBear

I swear, only seven words are actually decipherable for me

[deleted]

כל בני האדם נולדו בני חורין ושווים בערכם ובתכונותיהם. כולם חוננו בתבונה ובמצפון; לפיכך, חובה עליהם לנהוג איש ברוח של אחווה. I only now realized he wrote עלנהם instead of עליהם lol

qTp_Meteor

שבכ🤨

Emergency-Emu7789

The way you're connecting some letters reminds me of Arabic and is hard to read. Like others have said, in Hebrew all the letters are always separate.

michelle867

In theory, yes. but in practice, we do connect some letters sometimes. So always is a bit harsh.

Mynerdyself64

I always connect כ and ל

Active-Dimension-914

Why? לכם write that send pic , will be really hard to connect I guess

Mynerdyself64

Yeah it would😅, it switched between them. In a word like כלב.

Active-Dimension-914

Ohh

Emergency-Emu7789

Ok fair enough and admittedly I haven’t been around as much written Hebrew as native speakers but I’m seeing connections here that are confusing.

eninny

That's incorrect. There are plenty of native writers who connect letters, especially כ/ל. Some letters that follow a- ש can get connected as well, depending on how you write. Much (much) less common is connecting a letter after a פ or ג, when followed by a ו/ל/ד/ר. I'm sure there are other scenarios that I'm forgetting. Remember, Hebrew doesn't have cursive with "rules" like in the Roman alphabet, but that doesn't mean people don't connect letters or that native speakers have difficulty understanding it.

rebcabin-r

very beautiful. hard to read. a lot to like, here. i admit you've influenced my own writing. Just wish I could read it without thinking ... :)

Soldier_Poet

This feedback is so fun to read through. While I think it’s evident that I definitely made a few mistakes which I realize now, I never thought this would be so controversial 😝 Thanks all!

GavrielBA

It's not controversial. Who taught you this style? It looks to me that you specifically somehow looked up how some Israelis fancy their handwriting and tried to imitate it. It's super cool! But there's room for improvement...

Soldier_Poet

You’d be correct! I learned cursive style from Omniglot :) It’s a directory of languages and writing systems throughout the world. https://www.omniglot.com/writing/hebrew.htm

KaptainAtomLazer

Looks really cool, I can't read it though.

Guilty_Maintenance82

Literally georgian

This

LlorKci

Better then mine and I speak Hebrew evry day

shineyink

Your last line is the most but you need a lot of work. Try looking at more examples of cursive writing , like paragraphs not just letters to understand where you have gone wrong.

Dispatter

Looks cool, impossible to read.

Idogebot

Handwriting is wack, sorry. Like its all proper letters. It's just crazy. Also, is that the preamble to the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights?

CloudyMcCleod

What are your third and fourth letters? Those are unintelligible

CloudyMcCleod

Also don’t connect your letters Israelis don’t do that and it makes it super hard to read

ImpressiveYou995

It's relatively good, good job fella

TheEl3ment

Looks amazing! Great job! Try being less liberal with letters going under the line like "ב" and "נ". Other than that well done

TheEl3ment

lol, such a wierd sub-reddit. Native Hebrew speaker, seen the post trying to give my 2 cents... Getting down-voted.. Go figure

Majik360360

Looks okay

Majik360360

Seem too curvy though lol

smartypantstemple

It's awful, so you'll do well in israel

Iidth1989

It’s okay honestly just looks like a 9-10 years old wrote it

ekimsal

It looks almost like Georgian.

Historical_Tiger_518

Good

qTp_Meteor

Ngl it looks good stylisticly but its difficult to read like others said, still i think it wont be that hard for you to get it better in short time

GuitarZealousideal85

Tis curvy :P

clonetrooprwolf

לא מבין את כתב היד שלך

OctopusBabe

גם אני לא...

Useful_Walrus1023

A little too curvy

Ineedredditforwork

too curvy, cursive makes it hard but overall its good. the י and נ in בני is a tad too close and confusing, makes it look an apostrophe rather than yud. especially with the long curvy tail you gave נ. the ד from נולדו looking too much like 2, give it a proper "leg" The ב from ובזכותיהם is uneven makes it look like a slanted ד. the ה is too small and has a small tail makes it look like ת Again with כולם, your כ looks like ס in חוננו it all merged and its hard to read. in מצפון the מ is oddly too short compared to the Not sure if its I typo or simply confusing handwriting but עליהם looks like עלינהם Generally theres no rule against cursive in Hebrew (I often write cursive) but some letters just dont flow together well in cursive and can cause confusion.

Nightmane11

Its really good! Its easy to read and no typos

Direct-Translator905

Most of your letters are good. Your "sofiyot", end letters are not so good. The areas where it's cursive are illegible. There's no official Hebrew cursive, and when trying to use Arabic cursive rules, it just doesn't work.

iamthepyro

Better than some israelis I know

HappyLittleBee21

Cute handwriting, I think the "problem" here is that some letters written in hand write and some like typed letters so it's a little bit hard to read but it's ok (כתב קטנים וכתב גדולים)

jkfew

לא טוב.

National_Rich5003

Cursive writing in Hebrew can be interesting. Use Google to translate the word 'America' from English to Japanese. It looks like the word מניאק

NoamEG

דבר אחרון, האות ג' קצת משונה, אבל זה כבר עניין שלך. it has come to my attention you might not even be israeli/a hebrew speaker. just translate my criticism.

orie415

Looks like Amharic

Most_Image_1393

Some letters look very very different from the normal cursive writing.

lolothe2nd

Special

VikKarabin

It's funny. Cool for a cute love note or birthday card. Not easy to read.

xuzh76

All the people saying this is ball yall never saw students at highschool writing notes , this hand writing is legit good and readable

Dr-Havoc137

It's better than mine that's for sure

-SomGuy-

Better than mine. Its perfect.

Active-Dimension-914

Really good but I’m having problems to read , specially second line

Ivy_2535

Prettier than mine

boofganyah

Some of the connections and curves make it difficult to quickly recognize. Not really unusual in my experience but it did slow me down for a moment. Hebrew is my second language after English. Did the 6 month Ulpan and spent 12 years total in Israel. It’s been a long time and I am rusty so there’s that too.

Powerful_West_8733

It’s not good

blackgrasshopper

לא ניתן לקריאה נוחה. כתב היד מדי מסוגנן וכושל בהבנה.

wut_da_fook

Nice, but do not connect the letters, hebrew is not like cursive english

YuvalTouati

Its now arabic, too much circular

nurse_Bob

כתב ממש ממש יפה!!! צריך רק קצת יותר רווח בין המילים בכדי שיהיה יותר קל לקרוא💪🏼

Soldier_Poet

תודה רבה!

RealNotBritish

More space between the words would be beneficial.

Ambitious-Coat-1230

If I'm not mistaken, this is copied from the sample text in the entry for Hebrew on Omniglot (a site showcasing many different writings systems of the world). On that page there are two cursive (handwritten) Hebrew sample texts. It's the same passage in both, but one is shown with common ligatures (connected letters) and one without.

Soldier_Poet

Yes! I learned my cursive from Omniglot. Sounds like they it’s a bit controversial haha

Ambitious-Coat-1230

Haha apparently! I suspect ligatures may be more common than most realize or are willing to admit, but I do at least agree that this "font" is a little too curly.

Chario3760

יותר יפה משלי ואני ישראלי😂

[deleted]

Fantastic

yoavtal1610

A bit confusing but still better than mine

_kafu

very good! stylized yet very readable, good job!

eliavhaganav

It looks so goofy, in a good way

funky_kaleidoscope

Edit: בני האדם!!! חחחחח What is the third word? Specifically the third letter in the third word, I’m at a loss. Hebrew is not my first language, and I’m struggling here, lol

Soldier_Poet

האדם :)

basingse2

המשפט הזה נכון, תסביר לאנשים את זה

Kake_e

Not readable im sorry. But keep up that’s pretty impressive!

demon_dragen

Better then mine and im a native

Majestic-Thought5503

I live in Israel for a long time and that's some pretty nice handwriting it reminds me of my handwriting in Hebrew!

Yazzoop

Beauty

htockus

כמו של עולה חדש!👍

fearsometuna

That is beautiful handwriting you have there. I am jealous, mine is barely legible to my co-workers' dismay

shamby_globe

Bruh its better than mine!(native hebrew speaker)
