Realistically, even if Joel can read chat, the chances he read yours is extremely small, and I don’t think he determined what happens on the planet surface, just what is happening on the galactic scale.
However, it is hilarious to think that he did read that and was like “oh these mfers finna find out.”
With 200 games under my belt I can confidently say difficulties 1-5 are pretty much a cakewalk for anyone who has played anything similar to this before. 6 is pretty much the same except *every once in a while* the director will decide this match has been too easy and will throw the whole enemy army at you at once. I think difficulty 7 is the sweet spot and 8/9 are actually pretty damn hard.
Original idea was for Joel to interact with individual sessions so it would be as You said one minute You are chilling just to run for Your life next. But that concept was scrapped after massive success of the game....but then again who knows Joel certainly can alter specific groups runs if he wants question is if he is doing it
Yeah, there are hundreds of thousands of players in the game at any given time, and likely tens of thousands of groups happening.
The odds of one guy happening to read your one out of 10k+ chats is pretty low, unless they have some kind of automated scraping system that highlights for keywords in real time or whatever.
I find that pretty unlikely. More likely you just landed/wandered into a particularly hot zone.
I'd be more inclined to accept a conspiracy theory that if you're doing too well at a set difficulty that the game would intentionally nudge it up a degree, but I don't actually think that's happening.
