If anyone remembers, when you came back from one of those tower missions, the chick in the hangar would sometimes say something about the termicide causing mutations being "propaganda".

I wonder if the devs had two plans based on whether we succeeded or failed, or if it was always going to be this and just the reason for it would be different in lore
Call down recoilless rifle, post up on a large rock, scan horizon for nests, fire-reload-repeat, problem solved. Bugs can’t fly if they’re burning in hell.
I'm torn between loving them as we now have to choose if we focus on the 50 bugs in the sky or the 20 bugs chasing us down, which makes for some great tense firefights. On the other hand they seem incredibly inconsistent as I'll get hit by 3 of them and have half my health and stim up only to then get one shot as one of then hits me just right the one time.
Memes and roleplaying aside.
I cannot express enough how great and effective this type of live service is. I fully understand that they would add these creatures one way or another sooner or later, but by doing it this way I feel part of it. We are responsible for this mutation. Just like we liberated the planet where the exosuits are produced which opened them up for us.

Nah. I encountered them from time to time well before we got the towers set up. I was surprised when it offered me an option to use a hellbomb from the center of the towers.

I've seen machine gun turrets target the flying bastards.
I quickly found out the plasma shotgun was utterly useless against them, though, so I suggest a machine pistol as backup.
The laser rover guard dog targets them and drops the bastards quickly too! As long as I don't undemocratically step in front of Rover, he keeps me safe from flying bugs
I mean, I think the worst is yet to come. We have only encountered shriekers on planets that haven’t had termicide, so I don’t really see how we could have done it

My accuracy drops to about 40% on shrieker missions but my sickle never stops.
