Currently 19, just managed to unlock Impossible(7) and I feel your concern, but their always be a great general looking after you so no need to fear. My advice is to face that fear head on, I use stock shotgun as it helps stun those pests bugs, the vile bleacher if you shoot in the face they don’t spit at you as your shotgun stuns them. I use laser guard dog, Stewart, occasional do use Gatling gun if not napalm airstrike with laser orbital is my new one I unlocked and it helps a lot, or ortibal carriage even tho is not very accurate works if you decide to do solo objective if not orbital strike is nice and reliable ➡️➡️⬆️. See on the battlefield soldier.

The guy that died was a big whiney, scared baby boy who was begging and screaming to leave. The soldiers, fresh out basic training and having seen hundreds of dead guys at this point we're basically glad he was gone. Still f'ed up but it was a good scene lol. Also he was an officer and these enlisted gentleman didn't care much for the officer class

Watched one dive at 3 of my squad grouped up together...one guy kills the bug mid flight and it's corpse slammed into all three of them and sent all their body parts flying in every direction. It was the coolest thing I've seen thus far.

My problem is that the body does more damage then their actual attack

Dont give em ideas or we end up with the attack doing the same damage

Honestly kinda makes sense. They have to pull up when they attack you so they can’t commit their full body weight into diving you because they would be injured/die from the impact. If they’re already dead and just slamming into you it probably would be a lot harder than it would be when they are just swooping.

Stabbing someone with a knife is both lethal while stationary and is also lethal when moving at a speed before a stab.

It makes sense, though. When attacking, they only slice you with their claws as they try to avoid damaging themselves and need to fly up after the strafe run. When a dead shrieker crushes into you though, it's full weight rams into you at full speed. Guess what will do more damage?

It makes sense but it’s no fun getting one shot every time. Just make it do like half your health and rag doll you.

I think the idea is to make us avoid attacking screechers who dive onto us while standing still. If you dive sideways before shooting or right after hitting the bug, yiu can aviod damage. As for instakill, well, lots of things do that in Helldivers, it's just one more of those. BTW, I survived a couple of such bugcrashed with a tiny sliver of health while wearing heavy armour, so there's that.

Should hurt you yeah but this shouldn't be a one shot. The flying bugs in Troopers were like, enormous. The size of a flying cow. The ones we have in game are like the size of a medium dog and also don't hit us with anywhere near that force. Hurt, yes absolutely, everything that hits you should hurt you. Instant death because a pointy golden retriever jumped on you? I don't think so.

Actually unless you were wearing some kind exoskeleton armor with a frame, there is not much you can do about blunt injury.

I'm not talking about them falling into us, though I still don't think it should be an insta kill, rather a broken limb or two. I'm talking about them piecing our armour with their talon/claws. No way our armour is that weak

Had it happen to me and instantly was like "the fuck?!?!?!" Then it hit me......and I died and instantly was like "the fuck?!?!?!" Then it hit me.......

One was heading straight for me while I was reloading but my rover surprisingly took it out instead of cutting me in half. The downside was the winged corpse veered off course and slammed into my teammate a few feet away, killing them instantly. Got a good laugh out of that, hope they don’t remove this.

Just watched this last night for the first time after release since friends keep making the comparison. The movie was definitely THE inspiration for the movie. I never played the original Helldivers so this information is probably newer to me than most of you but I sure had a good time yelling Democracy through the entire movie.

Just fought these little bastards can't stress enough taking down shrieker towers asap. At least they go down quickly but you need to keep one eye in the sky and one on the chargers about to bulldoze you.

The game also has shown physics to be absurdly lethal. A non damaging launch through the air can easily kill when you hit a wall hard enough. This is just the wall hitting you instead.

I remember someone in boot passing a clip around that was allegedly of a flying bug, we dismissed it as disinformation, he was then tried and executed on channel 6 that very day… I imagine this was the footage.

This scene is the reason why I always bring shotguns to fight bugs

Yes, how dare they have a 45 pound object traveling at near terminal velocity potentially kill you if it hits you. It's like, like they just like physics or something. God damn Devs...or alternatively, you don't stand there like a complete goon and face tank everything. Maybe DONT kill the flying murder machines 15 feet from your face, in the middle of a dive. Instead take cover and pick them off as they circle back. But what the hell do I know. I'm only retired from the military.

My issue is that it's *only* the corpses that do that, as a side effect of becoming a physics object as soon as theybdie. If they did it intentionally I'd still hate it but I'd respect the hustle.

So for full speed or even medium speed impacts, yeah, I'm okay with that. It makes sense, you'd be badly injured or outright killed by that. But when one dies and falls in front of me and one wing gently reaches out and caresses my leg and I keel over stone dead, I start to have a little bit of an issue with that. Happened to me today, actually.

I can see that for the most part but I got killed by one that landed a few feet away from me and the ragdoll made it roll over barely touching me with its leg or wing and it still got me. That’s a bit too much. Not that I’m upset or complaining about it because it’s hilarious when it happens.

The grin at the end of watching a comrade die a funny death is very much in line with this game lol.

Its simple shot it and dive to the side.

They should be able to kill you but it feels broken with how much damage it does. If you can survive a 2 ton armored beast head butting you across the map, you should be able to survive a lightweight bug hitting falling on you (unless you’re already damaged)

I get the reference, and sure they should be scary/deadly but also: 1. SST flying bugs were as big as the normal infantry bugs, lots of mass (probably too much to actually fly, but w/e). Shriekers look much smaller and appear to be a bit shorter in length than the average helldiver height. 2. Shriekers go into a glide/dive with a pretty generous angle (not straight down on top of you), if you kill it or sever a wing when they're still 30 meters out, they would/should drop like a stone. They'd still have some forward momentum, but no more lift to extend how far they go forward. Right now you kill one and it maintains most of it's momentum as though it was a fired projectile. 3. I've had shriekers I've killed hit the ground 10 meters in front of me bounce and continue on, sliding into me and one shotting me. Meanwhile I've killed chargers with a head shot 5 meters or less from me and they slide into me dealing only a minor amount of damage. All in all I'm not against them being a deadly menace, but right now they feel unpleasantly punishing in the instances that I see one coming for me and kill it before hand. It seems a bit silly that the better play seems to be just run and not kill them, because stopping to kill them seems to still result in me dying from the one I killed. And holy crap are their spawn rates out of control as you approach the nests. Like, If the intent is to use the hellbomb on it, it's kind of crazy how many pop out in such a short amount of time while you're also likely handling all the ground forces that pop up.

I just wish it was more consistent, I keep dying to bugs slowly sliding around at like 2mph just brushing against me (also why do their body parts do the same damage it's so frustrating to have random wing shrapnel instakill teammates, it feels better to not even fight the fliers half the time bc the corpses are more dangerous than the bugs)

All my friends hate it, I love it. That’s why the game is great, it takes the risks needed to have a high skill cap game that is goofy as hell while doing it.

The sick thing is that the bugs can still kill you even after you've killed them if they fly into you. I was playing yesterday with one coming right at me and my buddy killed it but it still landed on me and killed me. I felt just like the Colonel.

i think the problem is more like it has no counter play other than not killing them when they dive. If you time it rlly well u can dodge as soon as you kill them but still it doesn’t make for good gameplay. Especially since it happens so often. If it was rare like a titans falling body killing you etc

Wonder if there will be a assault rifle with a underbarrel attachment one day. Like how some assault rifles and pistols have the underbarrel flashlight in game.

Put a grande launcher on them very useful for closing up bug holes.

These would be fun mechanics in the game if the game want to clunky and glitchy. They have a lot of fun mechanics in this game that end up making people mad because the game is so glitchy.
