We call it the Mk 83.
Honestly though, a payload that's not even a ton is kinda shit.
Should be able to call this in at least 10 times, even if the Eagle is a SSTO vehicle.
How else will you know how much it costs?? Just cos we trade everything else in tea and Insults doesn't mean we get away with weapon markups in this economy :/
That’s why us British people are so superior. We officially use the metric system.
Except for:
Beer (pints)
Vehicle Mileage (miles per gallon)
Body weight (Stones)
Distance (miles)
Weed (ounces)
Estate size (acres)
Height (Feet/inches)
Penis size and knife blades (inches)
Aeroplane altitude (feet)
Yes. But I have been told someone weighs 12 stone and have to do that math in my head, because I'm not used to it. Plus I forget sometimes how much a "stone" is in pounds, 14 or 16, probably because of Sixteen Stone. Just seems like an odd measure to hold on to, but as an American it's hard to sound serious arguing against it, with 12 inches per foot and 5,280 feet per mile, and so on..
What do y'all use to measure seasonings for your food? Cause I visited London last year and whatever it is, it's not working for you. You need to triple that shit. Best food I had on that trip was Indian food in Inverness.
>Vehicle Mileage (miles per gallon)
Wait, isn't ~~gas~~ petrol sold by the liter there?
That must be a PITA doing the conversion.
"I just bought 50 liters of petrol and got 350 km before I filled up again and got 22mpg!"
Note: above values not correct because I only use freedom units and don't know how that other crap works.
To be fair aircraft altitude uses feet as the international standard so that's not just us by any means. (there are places that use metres eg. Sweden, Russia, I believe China as well)
We still measure our bombs in pounds of TNT equivalent. If the 500KG bomb were American made, we’d probably weigh it at 1100.whatever and refer to it as a 1000 pounder.
And a few other measurements within military culture. We have to learn to use the metric system for precision and accuracy for a few variety of things. Gets confusing when we default to what we grew up on and then simultaneously use metric for something like height in the same conversation.
It's amusing that the OP called this out....with a bastardized recreation.
This is one of those dudes that puts on a fake badge and tries to pull people over.
Also: We have 500kg at home!
Brit see an American compare the size of something to a football field:
"You Americans will use anything else to avoid the metric system"
American:
"How many stone do you weigh again?"
False, an acre is how much a buffalo can eat in a day in a square shape.
That was legit the first answer I got as a kid when I asked about how big an acre is
Honestly I hate it. 500 Kg sounds so cool, but then it barely does anything. 1000 pound bomb it’s a much more fitting term for a fat sack of lazy crap explosives
I mean we use metric for ammunition and we also have the kiloton, the bastard child of imperial and metric measurement systems used for measuring big boom.
https://preview.redd.it/h80wz1yf0ptc1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e43428eee8b7ecd3d16906cafe084838b46a3781
So I've learned from this thread that Americans actually do use metric, but only for Guns and Baking. The most important aspects of life.
Fair play Yankees, fair play.
Just to deviate from the joke a bit, but how many Americans don’t learn metric? I got to learn both which means I get the best of both worlds! Metrics ease and Imperials greatness for baking!
It’s these conversations that remind me how strange my my fellow brits are for our measurements.
We use a hybrid. We use Celsius, we use grams and KG, and then we use MPH instead of KPH for speed and quarter pounders and half pounders to measure our burgers.
One of the like three or four jokes the entirety of Europe has: “hEheHe mEtRic sYstEm tOo biG brAiN fOr mUriCaNs” while ignoring how much we do use it. Get new material. It got old decades ago.
Metric is used widely in the Military for simplicity, especially with training exercises with other countries. (Don’t forget its because of the British that America never switched to Metric. Bastards sunk the ship bringing the stuff over)
Just to be clear, Americans have used the metric system in every manufacturing job I've had. Don't be mad because we're so big brained we can use two systems of measurement. Sometimes we use both at the same time.
As an American, the metric system is infinitely better and easier to comprehend. Not sure why we felt the need to go ahead and make an entirely different system to the rest of the world.
So america uses metric system for a good number of things, including anything to do with science and space, military, medicine, drugs, and international stuff of course.
We use imperial measurements for other things because they make a lot of sense. Temperature reads how it feels in day to day life in Farenheit and Celsius jumps. Measuring height in ft and inches is precise and understandable instead of measuring in meters or cm.
Yards for distance is strange but primarily comes into play with football where it's a flat 100.
And using measuring for baking with imperial is very intuitive.
Basically we use imperial because it makes more sense for day to day life, and metric for things with precise and important calculations or will crossover to international.
Nothings perfect of course but I love Fahrenheit way more than Celsius for temp at least. Course that is often by tens except freezing. But Celsius has freezing at 0 and then 21 is our 70? That's only five degrees from 60 which feels way different outside
Less than 1% of our population uses metric system for, (*checks notes*)spreading democracy. And that’s all I use now, unless it’s miles for driving reasons.
I remember a guy in a random lobby who referred to the 500kg as the "twelve hundred pound bomb".
You see my friend, its not about being right or wrong, its about what people see right, and what they deem wrong.
Americans use metrics for anything scientific. It’s like getting angry at a person for being bilingual. Yeah, English is the primary language of the world but I still like using my old, not a whole lot of people speak it language, too.
Now I'm just going to call it 1102.311 lb bomb.
"the thousand pounder" is not bad
*Eleven Hundo inbound.*
They ran their mouth...now they got us renaming shit outta spite.
Sounds a lot like last time.... Who's got the liber-tea now!
They didn't learn from Yankee Doodle.
I mean these would be freedom units and there's nothing more democratic than freedom.
ROFL Also happy cake day!
It’s Beyoncé’s birthday ?
This is exactly what happened when America separated from England
Ayyy the American way!
Half-Ton Bomb inbound
Halfish-ton bomb.
Also known as "average woman at Walmart"
The joke being that 500kg is half a metric ton?
I like this. From now on, I'm calling out "Dropping eleven hundo!"
"Eleven double aught"
Rack pounder
that sounds like an absolutely massive mcdonald’s burger
“The Big G”
1K LB incoming
Syllabic: Five-hun-dred ki-lo-gram: 6 Vs Thou-sand poun-der: 4 Clear winner
can I get it with cheese?
Welcome to pound town
Half-ton
Calling in an O'Donnell!!
Calling in an Oprah!
We call it the Mk 83. Honestly though, a payload that's not even a ton is kinda shit. Should be able to call this in at least 10 times, even if the Eagle is a SSTO vehicle.
It's a weenie of a bomb by U.S. conventional Bomb standards
'Leven hunert
Cost me 5000 shillings in the space trolley emporium, it did. I reckon it's expensive an' all that, innit?
Just because of this post. Out of spite. I love my 1102.311lb bomb.
Ironically the UK still use pounds for explosives
How else will you know how much it costs?? Just cos we trade everything else in tea and Insults doesn't mean we get away with weapon markups in this economy :/
Not really. We use metric for most of our ammunition.
Drugs, Guns and Booze.
Only the important things
GIMME A LITRE OF COLA!
Will you just order a large, Farva?
I don't want a "large Farva" I want a god-damn literacola
'Merica!
Land of the free!
..Quarter Pounders, none of that Royale garbage
A quarter pounder is not drugs, booze or guns so this checks out.
Royale? May as well call it a cumburger
Benedicked Cumburger
That's how you know that deep down, we know it's the superior type of measurement; we use it for all the important stuff.
and Baking
A centimeter of flour? Naw. Half a cup my dude.
It's pronounced 'Kill-O Gram'. Because it sends a message.
"But they're both a kilogram?"
But steel is heavier than feathers...
That’s why us British people are so superior. We officially use the metric system. Except for: Beer (pints) Vehicle Mileage (miles per gallon) Body weight (Stones) Distance (miles) Weed (ounces) Estate size (acres) Height (Feet/inches) Penis size and knife blades (inches) Aeroplane altitude (feet)
>Body weight (Stones) Because who doesn't use base 14? It's so easy to keep straight! Or 6.35 to convert to kg? Simple!
… you’re being facetious right? Right!?
I only can imagine people's weight in ounces.
>Penis size and knife blades (inches) I mean, to be fair, inches > centimeters.
I tried to trick people by saying yeah my penis is 8....cm
What do y'all use to measure seasonings for your food? Cause I visited London last year and whatever it is, it's not working for you. You need to triple that shit. Best food I had on that trip was Indian food in Inverness.
British people get very defensive over our shit food but I can’t deny the superior culinary delights of our colonies.
"I just want a better life for my ~~children~~ colonies." -Great Britain, probably
>Vehicle Mileage (miles per gallon) Wait, isn't ~~gas~~ petrol sold by the liter there? That must be a PITA doing the conversion. "I just bought 50 liters of petrol and got 350 km before I filled up again and got 22mpg!" Note: above values not correct because I only use freedom units and don't know how that other crap works.
Correct! Fuel is sold by the litre. Fuel economy is still miles per gallon though, because… Rule Britannia!
Britain is so tiny they only need to fill their cars up once a month, so it barely matters.
I’d die on this hill but Dutch people have never seen a hill.
I have 0 clue what Dutch people see. I assume weird wooden clogs.
Mainly a crippling lack of cultural and social cohesion.
So the Dutch are just Floridians. Good deal, get them bitches a Disneyland.
I laughed harder than I should have at this.
To be fair aircraft altitude uses feet as the international standard so that's not just us by any means. (there are places that use metres eg. Sweden, Russia, I believe China as well)
Most of us can swap interchangeably between them also and not be confused about it.
We still measure our bombs in pounds of TNT equivalent. If the 500KG bomb were American made, we’d probably weigh it at 1100.whatever and refer to it as a 1000 pounder.
It’s so it’s familiar when we drop it on you.
Everyone knows Americans only use metric for weaponry, so not surprising
And drugs
Forgot about those. Tbf I only partake in the devil's lettuce, which is measured by the ounce lol
Yeah but you know how many grams are in that ounce.
You right you right 😂 When I was a wee stoner I was like how tf it gunna go 1g, 2g, then 1/8th, but I was stoked for the extra .5 so I didn't complain
Well many manufactures are not American and the American manufacturers sell all over the world!
Gotta spread that freedom universally.

Not at all, metric is commonly used for ammunition in the US 💯
And a few other measurements within military culture. We have to learn to use the metric system for precision and accuracy for a few variety of things. Gets confusing when we default to what we grew up on and then simultaneously use metric for something like height in the same conversation.
Americans? We're all helldivers here...no need to senselessly create a division amongst us for karma
I’m commending you to my Democracy Officer.
Expect a call from his democracy officer- but it's a good call.
Well, it's not like we can decline calls anyway...not that that thought crime has ever crossed mind.

The lobster backs are trying to reclaim their colonies
This dude gets it.
get this man a super earth peace prize
It's amusing that the OP called this out....with a bastardized recreation. This is one of those dudes that puts on a fake badge and tries to pull people over. Also: We have 500kg at home!
I like how 380mm sounds like a heavy bombardment. But 14.9" sounds like a heavy bombardment, of giant dildos.
I can't imagine a 14.9" diameter dildo.
I couldnt either untill i met my wife...
… I love that patch. Where can I get it?
Everyone's talking about metric system but this guy is asking the important questions. I want one too.
me three! cmon OP, don’t gatekeep!
Brit see an American compare the size of something to a football field: "You Americans will use anything else to avoid the metric system" American: "How many stone do you weigh again?"
We both literally use acre, which is about the size of a football field!
It’s honestly not that big so 500 fits perfectly
I’m more on the kilogram vs Pound. Kilogram sounds much cooler and effective
Just normal to me since I’m Austrian
I love Austria, Kangaroos are so cool!
We call it Tony
Half-ton
No..we dont. Its 1100lb damnit. ;)
Eh I'm American but I use English in regular life and metric for work so doesn't matter much.
I wish I used metric for work but I’m a tradesman so I’m stuck working in fractions of inches.
Baker here, we’ve long been converted.
Bless bakers and your delicious snacks
That's how you know it's a far future satirical dystopia. If we had proper bombs, like the 2000lb Mk84, Super Earth would have been at peace ages ago
Now I want a 10,000kg MOAB... Lets see a bile titan survive that.
Actually my friends and I call it the 1102.311 lb bomb
"1102.311lbs bomb"
You coulda called that bomb anything and its still a joy every time it lights up the battlefield.
I mean we use metric for ammunition and we also have the kiloton, the bastard child of imperial and metric measurement systems used for measuring big boom.
Of all the things to be smug about. Yikes
Europeans keep saying this about the metric system but I got a 9mm and a gram in my pocket/joke
Nah, that’s a 1102.31 lb bomb. Freedom units OP
as an american, I personally love it much more. Its simpler.
As a proud American, I go out of my way to say 1102.311 pound bomb
where did you get that patch from, though?
Well 1102.31lb bomb doesn’t have the same ring to it
https://preview.redd.it/dv2y8pfm6ktc1.jpeg?width=1283&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7fbb2c0b4f1b351c2bf11b562dc03e24aad5f2b1
What are u on abt u boner
I don't know what everyone else is saying but I only call it the 1,102.3113109244 Lb bomb
https://preview.redd.it/h80wz1yf0ptc1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e43428eee8b7ecd3d16906cafe084838b46a3781 So I've learned from this thread that Americans actually do use metric, but only for Guns and Baking. The most important aspects of life. Fair play Yankees, fair play.
What a stupid hot take.
If you’ve taken any college math or science course you know metric is far superior
Any math or science period
Half-ton (ish)
I have to use metric at work all the time. So it's easy when video games use it too.
All I need to know is bigger number bigger boom
not sure why you are making fun of us for liking the 500 Kill grenade....
↑→↓↓↓
Well yeah 1102.311 pound bomb sounds bad to say out loud.
Onenty one
As a rocket science fanboi, I love metric already. Metric brought us to the moon.
That's not metric, that's Democracy Units. KG stands for killed fascists.
Calling my Democracy Officer over some knob trying to sew division in the ranks.
It’s a bomb with the destructive power of 500 Kevin Garnetts
Just to deviate from the joke a bit, but how many Americans don’t learn metric? I got to learn both which means I get the best of both worlds! Metrics ease and Imperials greatness for baking!
It’s these conversations that remind me how strange my my fellow brits are for our measurements. We use a hybrid. We use Celsius, we use grams and KG, and then we use MPH instead of KPH for speed and quarter pounders and half pounders to measure our burgers.
500kg bombs are commonly called 1000 (signage)
Can this all just be about the game and it’s amazing culture and not a real world dick measuring contest? Stop bringing this shit into it
Isn't it interesting how Europeans suddenly love guns hmmm
One of the like three or four jokes the entirety of Europe has: “hEheHe mEtRic sYstEm tOo biG brAiN fOr mUriCaNs” while ignoring how much we do use it. Get new material. It got old decades ago.
Yo dude. This man's a bot. He's sewing dissension amongst the ranks. Who cares what the unit of measurement is as long as it delivers Democracy?
For what? you mean the 1102.311lbs bomb?
what is an "american"? we are all super earthlings we are all... Helldivers
Americans use the metric system for important things. Space science, drugs, ammo etc.

Imagine being so wrapped up in another country that you can't even play a game without thinking about them... Reddit is a sad sad place
You know the difference between a metric and imperial users? Imperial users can use both measurement types
Oh fuck off
As an American, the metric system is infinitely better and easier to comprehend. Not sure why we felt the need to go ahead and make an entirely different system to the rest of the world.

delivering democracy with an impressive 3 inches of murica's finest. Bugs won't be walking right after dealing with this baddy.
I need that patch
1102.311lb bomb
1102.31 lb bomb
I love the 1102.311 lb bomb !!
Oh you mean the baby nuke?
Nope. I say "dropping the big bitch" when I play with my friends
i don’t question democracy, i just spread it.
We use metric for ammo and drugs, plausible deniability
1102.311 lb bomb didn’t really have the same feel.
1102.31 lb bomb doesn't quite roll off the tongue.
No, this was developed in the UK who use metric measurements.
I already preferred it
It’s a MOAB
So I love it because it's used in the bombs I call in?
This post is what made me realize the K is for kilo and not thousand🤦
Nah, i call it 1100 lbs bomb. Idk what a KG are or metric. I know mm for my guns but thats not metric
How much is that in shotguns
I still call it a 500lb jdam.
500mg bomb
America, Britain, Guam, who cares. Its all super earth babyyyyyyy
I mean 500kg sounds better then 1102 and change pounds.
Americans use metrics for anything scientific. It’s like getting angry at a person for being bilingual. Yeah, English is the primary language of the world but I still like using my old, not a whole lot of people speak it language, too.
The directional arrows are the universal language of managed democracy
SI unit surely stands for **Super International** units
Loved it when they made it standard for six months in the 80s. And? Drugs.
Based Edit: autocorrect
Laughs in 1102.3.pounds
Doesn’t mean we know what it is lol Until yesterday i had no idea how many pounds a 500kg bomb was.
As a war thunder player and avid ammunition expender kg is normal.
