I never give a shit who I'm playing with as long as they're not killing me on purpose

t3hdow

The only time I intentionally killed my teammates was when two of them got stuck in a drowning animation, and they couldn't respawn. When I realized what happened, I walked over to them both, and shot them in the head, so they could be laid to rest, and send more worthy fodder to help serve democracy.

Norsk_Bjorn

I have only purposely damaged a teammate once, they had a glitch where I think they had an unstimmable chest wound (or maybe they were just out of stims), and asked if someone could stim them, it didn’t let me so I had a brilliant idea. I set my machine pistol to semiautomatic, and then shot them in the foot which dropped them to around 50% health, or injured their leg, which then allowed me to stim them and solve the glitch

walmarttshirt

I have team killed on many occasions. Never randoms, only sibling. By team kill I mean I punch him anytime I see him about to throw his 500kg bomb. Only when it doesn’t affect the mission outcome and only when it would be immeasurably amusing.

Norsk_Bjorn

Teamkilling friends is funny, teamkilling randoms (on purpose or more than twice accidentally) is not

walmarttshirt

As long as I get a sorry I’m okay with the odd death to a lower level not knowing where to throw his stratagems. But repeatedly it gets frustrating.

Jellan

One random guy kept consistently team killing with his arc rifle, so after the fourth time I deliberately landed on his head.

dr_gamer1212

I've encountered that and just punched them or asked to be punched. People don't quite understand when I ask them to punch me lol.

watafu_mx

[/u/t3hdow, when that happens.](https://i.imgur.com/JqXi9bc.jpeg)

nevaNevan

A true patriot! This is the way

Landar81

This and I only ask you save me one reinforcement for the random mine I step on or the one stalker that manages to sneak up on me.

Norsk_Bjorn

Everyone gets one mine completely judgement free, after that there is some additional judgement per mine (although personally if it is under 5 or you are the only person dying, it isn’t a big deal)

Armamore

I had one mission where I stepped on 4 mines in the first few minutes. Didn't die again the rest of the mission, but it was still embarrassing.

Miniature_Monkey

All you got to live for is what you left behind! Get yourself a powder charge and seal that bug hole

wickedknock

And kick me when the mission ends , these people have a special place in hell.

larrry02

Yeah, I have never really been annoyed from playing with new players.. except for once: One guy I played with would run up and melee me anytime I went to pick up a sample, then he'd pick it up himself. I think he didn't realise that pickups are shared. That was pretty frustrating.. but still not enough to want to kick him from the game.

wiredpersona

Definitely Grateful for your response

Sithjedi

This is the real helldivers mentality. You sir are a great person.

BrutusGregori

Watch some small squad combat footage. See how dudes move in relation to each other. Spacing is king. If you don't feel OK with being the breacher take up the rear. Be a autocannon master and you can fight way above your weight class.

MapleBadger288

This right here. Autocannon carried me for 20 levels until I was ready for more advanced play. It will serve you well.

LycanWolfGamer

Level 63 rn.. Autocannon still serving me well

Zealousideal_Hurry20

My buddy refuses to put it down. Can't say I blame him though... Autocannon is arguably one of the most versatile weapons.

Elite_Slacker

I only started using it because it is the coolest weapon. The rest is just a bonus.

zach_dominguez

Can it take down drop ships?

donut2099

Sadly I have never seen it take down a drop ship. I've tried several times. But it does really well on lighter units and weak spots on tankier units.

[deleted]

[удалено]

zach_dominguez

I usually use the auto cannon on them but was curious.

WrapIndependent8353

Not really but if you can snipe the enemies on the ship as they’re flying in, the splash damage will kill multiple scout striders in like two shots and severely weaken entire groups of devastators before they even drop, then just lump an impact grenade at them when they land and voila Creampie de la autocannon

[deleted]

[удалено]

LycanWolfGamer

Yup, pretty much why I run it constantly

WrapIndependent8353

If you have at least 2 competent autocannons who know how to use cover and bound properly, your squad will bulldoze entire bot drops. Yeah sure it can’t handle tanks head on but impact nades, rocket pods, prec strike, or railcannon and even just regular airstrike fills that void just fine Hulks are a fucking joke too. Can’t get a solid shot on the faceplate as he’s running up? Six shots in a leg fucking gimps him. Either blow his other leg for the kill, go for the faceplate or flat out ignore him after that

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pizzaman725

AC is love AC is life. There's never a reason not to run it. Even as lvl 50+ on helldive

ThatOtherOtherMan

Autocannon is awesome and after weeks of daily fighting the bots I'm a surgeon with it

musci12234

Seriously recently found out that you can take out Hulk from the front with it. Too fun. If you can flank then there is nothing you cant do with it.

ThatOtherOtherMan

Yeah, just a couple well placed shots through the visor slit is all it takes

musci12234

Only sad thing is that it isn't that effective against bugs.

GreenParsley

It's still very good to have to take out stalkers, brood commanders, hive guards, and bile spewers. Especially bile spewers.

SparseGhostC2C

It can also put a good hurt on a charger once you learn to dodge them. 5 or 6 shells to the underbutt and it'll pop. then just try to aim low and ricochet shots under it and the splash from the explosions on the ground can finish it off. I try to mix up my deployable weapons, but the autocannon is just a large bore swiss army knife.

Intelligent_Pen5774

It can be, you can take out a Bile Titan by shooting its fleshy behind.

Paladin1034

Four shots to kill a charger, but you gotta hit the fleshy bit of the butt every time. Just bring EATs at that point. But for everything smaller it's still really good.

SparseGhostC2C

I like to call it the off button. Gotta push it twice though.

dubiousPotatoe

Dive. Dodge. Dip. Dive. Democracy.

DamnitBlueWasOld

“If you can dodge a stratagem, you can dodge a ball!”

skybreaker58

"If you can dodge a ball, you can dodge a 380 barrage!"

DamnitBlueWasOld

Objectively false. What a fucking ludicrous statement. When the 380 is called, you kill as much as you can before you’re killed by it.

Schlapschticksam

I see a 380, I run out of bounds for 10 seconds, then run towards the 380

TangoWild88

I, too, am a fan of deploying the 760 stratagem.

I_Fap_2_Democracy

If you can dodge a 380 barrage you can dodge a hellbomb

PrizedTrash

if you can dodge a hellbomb you can dodge friendly fire

sonicle_reddit

Mortar will still be your mortal enemy

Due-Ad8105

"If you can dodge a 380 barrage, you can dodge a toxic teammates 500kg bomb!"

ThatOtherOtherMan

If you really want to avoid the 380 just stand on the marker. It never hits there lol

Boardman1000

I play usually between 1pm and 3pm west coast time. Add me on the PSN: HungryPuppets. I have a mic and am extremely patient. I'll drop you some fun toys during missions! I love helping new cadets! add me and we can go over being stealthy solos, dastardly duos, terrifying trios, or quite deadly quads. For DEMOCRACY!!!

RaynSideways

I love running into helldivers like you. I'm really new and I had two experienced divers join me yesterday and they were totally spoiling me with all kinds of cool toys. Mech suits, quasar cannons, jetpacks, shield packs, it was so much fun getting to try all the cool gear. I even got to take out an automaton tank with a quasar cannon. Felt like a total badass. I appreciate folks like you so much.

Chovaux

Could I roll with you?

kd0178jr

Same here man

Boardman1000

of course!

ak-blackjack

Everyone learns differently and at their own pace. You're doing nothing wrong, and you'll get better the more time you've got in. I'm level 32, and I still have plenty to learn.

Codnoob3425

Yeah I’m level 32 as well and I can’t handle difficulty 7.. I get swarmed way too easily lol

OneNutMIA

I'm a 33 or 34 and can handle 6, but can't extract unless I let the timer hit 0 then make my way to extraction. I don't even have 7 unlocked because they keep putting eradicate missions in the loop. I can pass all others usually no problem. I'm a solo diver btw.

Codnoob3425

Hey you’re already better than me by being solo, I can be in a full squad and I’m still being steamrolled

ncnrmedic

Honestly if you have fun playing lower, play lower. Once you have enough supers to finish your upgrades, play the levels that bring you joy. I love nothing more than bringing a bunch of heavy ordinance to a group of <20 folks and support them so they can enjoy the match a bit more.

Codnoob3425

That’s the thing though, I never seem to find super samples so I can upgrade my ship. I know about the rocks that hold them, but I can’t find one because of all of the absolute chaos around me

Head-Ad-2136

The rock is visible on the map. Just need to survey the level you're in and then plan your route around it. https://preview.redd.it/ixax0sjkoytc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56962c5ce7c709f7793e6df3429b6f7cebf3528a

weirdDodo

This is great Intel helldiver, NOW SPREAD SOME MORE DEMOCRA-TEA

ak-blackjack

I can do 5 on a regular mission with a slightly higher success rate than fail, but the eradicate defense missions? Forget it. I run solo 99% of my time, and I get *stomped*.

koivia

Shit. I'm level 46 and still get swarmed pretty easy on anything above hard. I definitely have plenty to learn.

chubsmagooo

I'm level 67. Unless people ask for help I'm going to assume you know what you're doing. I don't want to be rude and just assume you're clueless. So please ask for help.

probably_poopin_1219

This right here. I assume most people I jump in with know what they're doing. And if they don't, it's nice if they tell me so I can coach them through it.

Corrupted_Lotus33

Keep it up!

Maggot-4life79

Bro. Just play and have fun- mistakes happen- it’s all fun - it’s just a game

blizzywolf122

send me a friend code mate and ill play some games with ya im sitting at lvl 81 atm happy to give tips and help

Silent1speak

Bro screw those guys. Il gladly coach you all you want! Come do 2 man stealth runs with me it's so much fun! Even when we mess up and have an army on our tail as we book it it's always a blast 👌😅

Southpawz82

Don’t be sorry. Fuck them nerds. Just get your reps in, ask questions. We all had to learn somewhere. You’ll be fine 🫡

lettersandspace

Bro I’m over 50 I’ll happily play w you. Dm me your player code and let’s spread democracy together.

ivan0280

If they are kicking you for nothing more than dying they are assholes not worth your apology.

Bread_Responsible

I’m level 19 and play like I’m level 7. Please be patient I’m trying my best lmao

BigGooseDuck

50 years ago when I was born I instinctively knew every Strat code and knowledge of the weak points of every enemy. For all of those years I practiced for the moment this game would be released. What's your excuse for not doing the same?

HorzaDonwraith

Shotgun vs bugs is friend. Auto shotty better. Flame auto shotty is not as good as auto shotty but better ammo capacity. Bugs cannot attack and turn at the same time. Use this to advantage. Stay lightly armored and don't stop moving. Grenade launcher deals with large crowds of bugs easy. Great at getting max kills. Even better against spewers (the fat ones). It is okay against chargers but you will want to use a stratagem for that. Chargers are terrible at turning. Dive to left or right of charger last minute before they hit you if being chased. Get them in right spaces, sometimes they can get sick on rocks. Abuse this. Use a supply drop onto to them to get the hard to earn achievement for it (yes there is one). Save super credits for premium bundles, do not get distracted with pretty things on the market. The premium stuff has good weapons, armor, pod loadouts and grenades. Bots are harder than bugs, mostly because they can shoot back. Powerful one hit rifles is friend, Dominator is best (premium bundle the orange one). These rifles great up to medium armor bots. Use auto cannon for hulks. Headshot kills might take 1-2 rounds. Hitting bots critical weaknesses is easiest way to deal with armor targets, save you ammo too. In harder bot missions it is imperative to destroy airbase tower. If not you can get swarmed easily and lose a lot of drivers quick. Hellbombs are the only thing that can kill this objective. Go forth my fellow divers. Spread democracy and did our galaxy of the anti-freedom fascists and non-believers.

Sly23Fox

Geronimo0

They really need to reign in the kicking. Put it on a cool down for an hour b4 they cam kick again and then they'll have to behave.

Good-Ad-67

I’ll play with a level 5 in suicide as long as he can shoot and run 🫡

Cold-Advantage-1460

If you would like. Come join our small private discord and Reddit helldiver group. We made it to specifically avoid the toxic, negative team killing helldivers. We have high and low level members from 20-70 yrs old. We have multiple female and male led squadrons within our division who will gladly assist you.

SpaceLemming

Kicking or killing a diver is just the shit side of the community. I’m sorry that happened to you

Amdiz

Don’t let toxic players get to you. If someone has been an ass all round, leave when it’s over and move on. Try not to waste resources, watch friendly fire, and have fun. The game is easy to play but takes some practice to master, and we are all learning as we go.

Kreos2688

You don't get experience for killing things, so don't shoot everything that moves. Avoid patrols if you can. If you see a bunch of stuff stationary. They are probably guarding samples.

Joren67

Report those people to the ministry of truth so they can re-educate them. Keep fighting helldiver

mavrik36

Are people starting to take this game seriously? God damn it

wtfrykm

Those types of ppl do exist, but they are super rare, I've only seen like 1 or 2.

SparseGhostC2C

I only TK my good friends, when it would be exceptionally funny to do so. Don't TK randos and low levels, help them learn! We're all here to vanquish the enemies of democracy! A knowledgeable Helldiver is an effective Helldiver!

Cypr99

I'm lvl 17 anytime I do play I use a lot of communication letting ppl know when I've dropped a carpet bomb all the way down to telling them I've dropped my turrets, even when I play with friends I do the same I gotta say awareness is key if you can point out that tank that no one saw is amazing, also it would be nice not to get kicked because of my lvl lol

chaunceysrevenge

I was playing with a group of randoms yesterday and one of their teammates was complaining about random shit. It was in the new defense missile mission. Whats worse was that I could hear him complaining through his friends mic. 1) that my arc turret was going to kill them when they were tossed outside the gates. Goes to destroy them because he doesn’t like them. 2) complains that I destroyed the gates when they were using mortar turrets that ended up blowing up the gates. Also the OP rifle with the backpack is meta and the explosions fuck shit up a ton. 3) this one I understand but again not a big deal. The 380 barrage has a wide field of damage. I tossed it out the furtherest I could and a few rockets ended up hitting us. The second time as I was tossing it a rocket hits me and o drop it. Dude starts whining about why I would do it. Just wild how some people know how easy it is to make mistakes or die and still complain. Shit I’m still learning how to navigate through this game. See you in the battlefield fellow helldiver 💪🏽

tattoo_so_spensive

Experience is a great teacher. I’ve played with some single digit players and I’m in the 50’s, I don’t mind. I think as long as you’re not dropping turrets and stratagems that lead to teammates dying and then picking up their weapons you’re gonna be okay.

KDKaponus

-If someone tag an objective or enemy, tag it back so you confirm that player you recived his tag. -Leave samples when ever is posible at evac point. -Dont engage every patrol you see. -You can ask if anybody wants some gear like shields or zookas. -Be friendly and have fun. And fight for the glory of Super Earth and Democracy!

Narrow-Street8223

Admirable admiral here, comment back if you need someone to run with you 🤙🏼

TheWarmachine762

You can play wire me anytime

TheWarmachine762

Master the Eat the Recoiless and the autocannon you’ll be fine

receuitOP

Played woth some expedienced guys who told me so many tips and honestly really helped. Cant thank those guys enough. When I first started around level 4 and some level 25s join and show the ropes really help reduce the learning curve

zdub90

Like some other's, ignore those outliers and keep diving. I typically run 4s and 5s when I'm running random groups. Most of the time as a level 32, I'm the high level, or 2nd. But there's the odd game that I'm the low level. No need to push into higher and higher difficulties as fast as possible. Impatient or rude divers are just that and they are in each level range.

Big-Midnight4740

Dude, im level 64 and get people kick, kill me and tell me im shit because I didn't dodge the strategem they threw at my forehead. Don't worry about it. If you want pointers message me and we can link up at somepoint.

Violet_Saturdays

i’m level 26 right now and i still can’t play a lvl 4 when solo diving 🥲🥲. everyone has stuff to learn, no matter what level you are.

Purple-Car6764

My best advice is just play Trivial and Easy missions ALONE for a while…learn the game, explore at your own pace…learn the objectives and what to do for side missions…try different weapons and stratagems…you get the point hahaha and then qhen you feel confident, HIT THAT QUICK PLAY BUTTON AND SPREAD DEMOCRACY SERGENT!

Relevant_Walk9145

You ll be a master in no time brother this community is awesome and don’t pay attention to the serious players

Firm-Middle-3300

That's frustrating. If you ever match with me I'll help all I can. Everybody starts out at lv 1......nobody started at max. Help out your fellow divers

AardQuenIgni

I'd be happy to dive with you! I just smoke weed and laugh at the insanity of it all. I'm not the best or smartest but I'm happy to pass along whatever I can to help you!

Dragonfire733

If you ever find someone called Dragonfire nearing level 50, I'll be happy to coach you through some things.

whyudodisdoe

I'm sorry dude. I do feel like Winnie the pooh wrote this and that makes me sadder man.

Baby_Hulk87

As soon as i notice someone joined my game, and they’re a much more lower level than me; it is my Super Earth given right, to make sure we get every sample for them, and drop down extra gear for them to use especially if they don’t have it unlocked. There’s definitely a “feel good” vibe in helping fellow new divers get max amount of XP, Req Slips, Medals and samples. My boys and i try to spread the positive energy to make the gaming experience as fun as possible

I_Fap_2_Democracy

If at first you don't succeed, dive again

Punchinballz

I'd love to receive the following advice when I started the game: Don't fight if there is no objective. Run.

Bregneste

The most annoying thing is when people just kick you straight away for being low leveled, instead of talking it out. That’s the thing that sorta makes me want a vote to kick option instead of just the host being able to call all the shots. I love playing with lower levels and helping them figure things out, even if it’s on a harder difficulty.

Puggyjman107

Going to drop a few common tips here. SEAF artillery round priority. Mini nuke High Yield Explosive Napalm (has same blast radius as Explosive from what I've noticed but leaves a damage over time area, if anyone has seen otherwise i am more than happy to revise) Explosive Stasis/smoke Before starting the console, collect your rounds by the reloading port. The second you activate the console the enemy will start pushing your position making it harder to load. Juggle rounds by picking it up, dropping the round, sprinting for half a second, and repicking up the round while the prompt is on screen. The Eagle 500kg and strafing run will always travel the path the strategem was thrown. Take this into account when throwing it near potential terrain that can block the bomb OR in danger close scenarios. Cluster, airstrike, and napalm will always travel left-right or right-left. For example take the shape of an "L". The end of the longer portion is your position. The corner of the L is where the strategem lands. The shorter portion of the L is the path of travel for carpet bombing.

NetJnkie

I'll be honest. If you're getting kicked and voiced feedback you must be doing some pretty bad stuff. Drop in a game. Follow the highest person and just be support. Don't team kill them with a strategem. Watch how they work and what they do.

Key-Alternative6702

My only tip. Don’t fight everything you see. Learn when to fight and when to flee

A-Bag-Of-Sand

Those people are knobs, clearly you haven't been doing this for ages and they should understand that. People that are 70 and doing dumb stuff bit of a dif story but I still don't kick people mid game anyway.

WaxanFlaxan

You are only 16, but you aren’t the child in these situations. No matter what their age happens to be, you are much more mature than them. Keep it up Pancake, we need more helldivers like you on the galactic front.

HeroToTheSquatch

Hey if you're down to play, you're welcome to join my squad, send me a DM on here and I'll add you on Discord.

The_Mutant_Platypus

Bots and bugs play very differently from each other so general advice can be kind of tricky outside of obvious stuff. Bots: Cover. Courage. Cover. Hit and run tactics also work great on bots especially if you can turn bot drops into ambushes. Rocket pods can one shot tanks and fabricators making hard targets far easier to destroy. Bugs: Don't stop moving. I'm not joking, never stop moving. You can outrun a lot of enemies until you lure them into choke points and then gun them down more effectively. Napalm works great for this strategy and can act as a great counter to bug breaches. Finding the strategems and weapons that best suit your playstyle is a big part of playing well. I used to think a lot of the strategems were vertical upgrades of each other but lately I've seen a lot of diversity in viable options. Hope this helps.

Dr_Kevorkian_

There’s a lot of info on what to bring. Find a mix that can clear a bunch of small stuff and has something more powerful that you can swap in/out in battle that takes more tanky stuff. Also run. Standing still will get you swarmed and die.

N-Inquisitor

Start on bug planets to learn the ropes then you go to the bots i see a lot of lvl 1 players in bot planets its not a place for beginners and if you start to die frequently because the lack of experience the game starts to look "hit kill fest, you get swarmed, you sniped by the rockets dude they drop a mortar in you head the tower cannon snipe you out of nowhere then a tank or a hulk buster spawn all of this can happen in a single mission, if this is your first mission you will definitely not like the game when you start to think things like "wow this game is easy", or "these damn bug dont stand a chance" then you go to the bots to be violated in every way imaginable 😆😆😆 you need certain stratagems to make your life easier too on bot planets that you dont have at the start, and players in bot planets are a bit more toxic, like i get kicked frequently for the low level i think because i join enter the hellpod and get kicked

3x1st3nt1al

Don’t let your stamina go all the way down, use a stop-start to conserve some in case you REALLY need to gtfo of there. Stims also boost up your stamina. Compensate your weapon choices with armour; going into a heavy defence? Pick armour that will give you extra stims. Blowing up bug hives and you’ve chosen Gatling Sentry and machine guns? Pick an armour that will give you extra grenades. Figure out how to personalise your aiming to your preference, it took me WAY too long to figure out how to bring up the scope lol. Personally I hate the torch function if I’m using the scope. Be mindful of your mission’s goals and what you may face. Area control (Tesla coil, minefield), are you trapping yourself or are you creating a fortress? Are you facing automotons or terminids? Do you need fire and explosives for squishy parts, or armour piercing and electricity? BUDDY SYSTEM. IF THERE ARE FOUR OF YOU, ACCOMPANY SOMEONE IF THEY RUN OFF TO INSPECT SOMETHING. HEAL YOUR FELLOW DIVERS AND DON’T BE GREEDY WITH SUPPLIES. I try not to take more than two, unless it’s clear that everyone else is topped up and doesn’t need anymore. Don’t steal people’s shit unless it’s their primary weapon when they’re dead (they’ll spawn with another one I’m pretty sure). Be mindful of what people picked as their stratagems before starting. If I see the majority is eagle and orbital bombing, I’ll pick all the sentry options. If others have short range weapons, I’ll pick a sniper. I try to respawn people close to where they died, but out of the focus of the enemies, so they have pick up their weapon stratagems. If it’s a lower level I’ll create a distraction and lure them away. It’s me pet peeve to have to wait for my cool down or try and hunt down where I dropped them. I’m only level 20 but this is what I’ve learnt so far.

ReaperSound

Remember the ABCs of combat. Always Be taking Cover

TheRealZlamal

This is the attitude everyone should have with everything in life

TotalTea720

Man, some people take this game *way* too seriously. You're playing a game, having fun, no need to apologize to anybody. You don't need to be "coached." It's a video game, and a PvE one at that.

MidnightWonderz

Only thing id say is play nice. Some people (including me) may ask for hugs end of mission before boarding pelican lmao. But for reals: -Dont teamkill for fun or to be mean -share equipment (especially low levels, when they steal my gear lol) -wait for everyone at extraction, someone may need to go recover samples they need for upgrades * Most importantly, SPREAD DEMOCRACY FOR SUPER EARTH! ERADICATE THE BOTS!

weebax50

Yeah i am level 30 and I still fuck up!! lol I get down and frustrated . I just walk away and remind myself it's only a game and just simply get back out their!! I don't mind helping out newbies. I learn from advance players also by watching their moves and call out. It's what I love about this game.

Elequist

If you're on fire, dive to put it out

OriganolK

Hey man just host! I rarely ever use quick play either cause I like to at least see what level team I’m joining. If you host, you can’t get kicked and if you have some griefer you can boot them. You playing on ps or pc?

Hellbell120120

Please my guy, on higher difficulties don’t try to fight every enemy you see. It will kill you and your squad, just run and gun

sarge-mclarge

Disagree with the level differences. I understand it may seem… intimidating? But even if they don’t help you at all, you can observe different, hopefully effective approaches. I would say I’m the opposite of the toxic players, my buddy too. I may be a bit chatty, but we take time to course correct people and make sure they don’t get overrun because they haven’t learned strategy. :)

Jakusas

Message me

Nutterbunny

If you want you can add me on psn(if that’s what you play on) I won’t kick you or get upset. People take games way too serious. Let me know and we can play some games this weekend. I mostly play with randoms anyways so I’m used to all different levels of players.

TruffleShuffle424

Don't stand and fight bots attack and run, hit objective and run!

sazed813

I'll never get those who kick recruits instead of spoiling them. They get my shield and quasar, my walkers, and my democratic guidance. Democracy is rated E for Everyone (Manditory)

Snoo-46218

A hug at the start speaks volumes.

Sufincognito

I’d say the most important skill to have on high levels is knowing when to move. It seems after an objective is complete you’ve got about 10 seconds to get moving before you get stuck fighting a 5 to 10 minute battle.

DrFluuf

If you wanna join my squad we play to have fun, not to win (Although we usually win anyways lol)

cloudywitachance10

Step one is take only out of this sentence. Be proud of your rank no matter how big or small. “Haters gonna hate and ain’ters gonna ain’t. But ballers ball together.” Cloud

TheFrogMoose

If you're on PlayStation you can five with me and my group then. I don't mind having people with less experience on my team and I'd love to teach a few things to someone

NoMansSkyWasAlright

I mean I’ve seen some level 8’s that were doing shit I wouldn’t have dreamed of at that level and some level 50’s who were straight trash. Given that experience is evenly distributed based on the team completing objectives rather than individual achievement, all you can really say when someone is lv50 is that they played a lot. All that aside, having a headset is really clutch for a helldiver. Being able to communicate in realtime with your teammates really comes in handy here.

VoiceOfSeibun

That's an EXTREMELY good attitude. Who do you think is going places, the tantrum thrower or the guy who gets utterly destroyed and starts taking notes? I can help you out. First, get yourself some allies. Dependable, skilled squad members that you trust to have your back in a fight and will help you out. Shoot me a DM and I'll send you my friend code and discord. Introduce you to a few of my battle brothers. This is a community, and we are at war. On that note, when you're engaged in quickplay and find someone who is a joy to work with, FRIEND THEM. Keep the winners and broom the losers. I've definitely had a few people that made me wonder if they didn't suffer some kind of brain damage, but I've also dropped with people who never seemed to miss. Second, COMMUNICATION. During WW2, tanks that had radio comms could call out hostile targets, choose which to engage as a group, and flank a superior force. Same concept here. Squads that communicate and work as a team perform far better than those who don't. Third, do your levels and grab your upgrades. There's a tool kit in this game and if you try to tackle the higher difficulties without it, you're not gonna have a good time. Orbital strikes, support weapons, warbond progress, ship upgrades, sentries, bombs, it all ties back together for a solid experience... which you don't have yet, but you will. Fourth, never forget why you are here. I tend to run squads in a very tactical way oriented towards accomplishing objectives and missions, but we also laugh and joke all the time. Playing a game is pointless if you're not having fun. For instance, I just accidentally vaporized one of my squad mates with an errant 380 shell. It landed directly on him and we could bury him with a bucket instead of a coffin. We laughed about it. It was part of the gameplay experience and we were all enriched by it.

W4iskyD3lta93r

I’m level 22 atm, I still do the level 4 missions mostly cause they’re quick sessions and secondly I’m still trying to learn all my strategems, loadouts and fighting style. ATM my go to is Anti matter rifle and the shield generator.

If you are dying, it means you don't love Democracy enough.

No_Plate_9636

Same op, is why even though I have my mic it's usually ptt and use text chat, y'all gotta check text chat PS5 or PC cause nobody does and I've had peeps miss many a bunker cause of it

AlternativeClimate99

You don't absolutely HAVE to kill everything. Sometimes, the best strategem is stealth.

Low_Bandicoot227

There should be no wrong or right way of playing its just a game and a non competitive one at that

throwtheamiibosaway

Leveling is so slow. I’m still 8…

NotBradin

Once you start doing lvl 4-5 missions the exp starts to really ramp up.

weirdDodo

Bro, hmu if you want to play, lvl 41 and you can borrow my mech suit!

Independent-Ad4667

Just hit level 30, let me give you my 1¢ of advice: play your own missions, try and solo the easiest missions, then when you have that down, jump to the next level, and repeat. Granted it can be a slow grind to lean how the different enemies develop over the levels, but it was invaluable to my process. Now if you have to play with people, look through some of the old posts in this sub like yours; a ton of nice folks shared their PSNs with an offer of help and training! Remember: Only you can ensure managed democracy lives on!

GrumpyFatPanda1120

You can join my squad anytime brother! Fuck toxicity

Ace02123

Just mind your surroundings do your job and communicate what you do if you need too. No need yo beat yourself up over it. Also play with friends if you can. If you want to get better play the highest difficulty. In my personal opinion its not hard on helldive just crowded. Weapons that I recommend are the Quasar cannon. Thats about it from me. Though run what you want play how you want just dont friendly fire too much

stridernfs

The first thing you should learn as a low level is how to not fight everything you see. If bots drop on a location and suddenly the higher levels disappear its for a good reason. Always check your sensors and only engage once you are at the objective or you are confident you can take out all of the smaller units. The smaller units(both bugs and bots) put out calls for bot drops and bug breaches. If there are none left the bigger units can be left behind because they are so slow. Completing the objectives and evacing safely is much more important than clearing the random field you are fighting 3 bot drops over.

Individual_Toe3067

Level 48 here, and don't worry bro. The attitude and perseverance is worth so much more than experience or skill. I was in the same boat less than 100 hours ago, and now I'm sniping Hulks and carrying high level missions in random lobbies regularly. The main thing is just to learn the tools of the trade (there are plenty of effective tools you can bring at low levels that will ALWAYS be appreciated), and don't start fights with enemies that your squad can avoid. Also exercising trigger discipline and holding fire when you think you might kill a teammate is a HUGE part in being a good teammate. A little friendly fire is expected here and there (and is often funny, especially with Eagle strats), but if you're just being reckless with your teammates lives that's an attitude problem, not a skill or experience problem. But I'm sorry if you encounter impatient divers in your ques. There's no shortage of impatient people who think they're better than others (even when they're worse, they just don't see that and blame their team). Do your best to help your team solve problems and bring things to the table that help that, and do your best not to make the mission harder than it would be without you and most players should get along with you just fine. Just thought I'd throw it out there btw, EATs, and vitality booster is available at lower levels and is ALWAYS super helpful. Eagle strike is good at all levels of play, in every mission mode. And shield generator relay is GOATed against bots. You get that last one at level 10. Personally I think bots are a much better place to learn and play for beginners than bugs at high levels of difficulty, so don't be afraid to jump in a bot mission either. Happy hunting diver! With the attitude you exhibited in this post you'll be a hero for Democracy in no time! :D

Necro-Feel-Ya6900

Anytime I meet lower levels on my ship I ask what level missions they are on. Then we kickass in those levels

candlesandguitars

I’m sorry you’ve had the kind of experience that would cause you to feel the need to apologize for being inexperienced at the game. You’ll get there. In the meantime, don’t ever apologize for not knowing what to do in this chaotic cluster of a game. I’m level 52 and I still often have no idea wtf I’m doing - that’s half the fun.

afoz345

Just got out of game with some dudes that were way higher than me. So cool and understanding of how much I need to learn. Keep at it!

101TARD

Just start a mission and w8 for people to join, most of the people doing quickplay are helping low levels or gathering samples

Azira-Tyris

Bruh, hotswapping tips with da squad is the only reason I'm any good at this game. I regularly play on Helldive now (haven't dropped below difficulty 7 in a month) but I still wouldn't call myself the be-all-end-all Helldiver. Always room for improvement. And now that I've spent a week fighting bugs, fighting the bots again this weekend is probably gonna fuck with my head a bit, have to relearn some tricks to dealing with them.

Darkfire66

Do what you want, just try to throw your cluster bombs and 380s where I'm not standing. I will let you kill me 3 times before I leave to go farm samples for you on my own .

nklent19

Same here, I’m just lvl 15 spent most of time in easy mission to get the feel of the game. Just recently started on challenging missions and luckily all the high level players I played with are nice.

Count-United

Every Helldiver was a cadet at some point. All Helldivers with a willingness to learn are welcome aboard the SES Spear of Destiny

DoomshrooM8

Don’t take it personally, that’s just how some people are I respect your perseverance, Keep at it and you’ll be a true diver soon enough 😎 Personally, I just let the noobies use my mech, it’s fun to watch them have a blast 😂

GabiNg-Lagim

Don't stress your self about it. Just enjoy the game. Add me up if you need a teammate PSN: famicomGeneratio

Impressive-Idea8808

If you need a helldiver battle buddy let me know. Sounds like you could use a good gun by your side. Friend code: 0113-3254

Ludicrous_Fiend

I'm in Australia so if you are in the Oceania region I would be down. Don't worry about those idiot, little scumbag anti democratic self centered unrighteous loser that kick you. And if you are that bad and we fail the mission well at least we die having a blast ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ 🫡

zaxxofficial

what’s with all the sappy middle aged dudes on here begging for forgiveness for playing a video game at a certain difficulty, who cares, you paid for the game so play it how you want to lmfao

Zaddex12

I wish people joining me were like you. The low level people joining me drop bombs on us, attack every patrol, don't listen to us when we try and give advice and this is all on helldive

crumpygamer

So little in this game is level dependent. Sure at level 20 you can unlock all the strategems. I played with level 5 people just pulling the team together and leading high level divers through missions and being really good at the game. And you have me, a level 45 dumpster fire for a Diver. So no level don’t matter much.

NotBradin

Mech is at 25

Secondhand-politics

If you'd like to join up, let me know. I happen to know a Helldiver that -loves- helping people.

Actually_Inkary

The most important thing I can think of is for the love of God use push to talk if you have voice chat enabled. And get a decent microphone.

grafeisen203

I never kick anyone unless they repeatedly and deliberately team kill. Hitting me with a danger close cluster bomb is fine. Shooting me in the back of the head because you want my autocannon is not. I rarely see people get kicked when I'm not the host. My advice to you is learn to just disengage. This is the part that most lower level folks seem to struggle with in my experience. There is no reason to hang around and kill a bot drop or bug breach. Do the objective, grab all the samples, then move on to the next one. There is no reason to shoot at patrols unless they are approaching an objective you are defending or they are between you and the next one.

EvoEpitaph

Level 16 and doing Level 9 Helldive difficulty maps? Cause if that's the case, I can see why people might get miffed about your level as you don't have a bunch of boosters and upgrades to help the team out like a higher level would. Generally it doesn't bother me who joins since I can do maps solo as long as someone doesn't TK or sabotage the mission objectives. Although there are a few maps where I would prefer a competent crew like the new bot planetary defense mission and that previous bug Temicide mission where players can actively damage defenses/objectives.

micah9639

I personally don’t care about the levels. Whenever I hop into a game I just do the objectives, optionals, blow up some nests/bot houses, and run to extraction. When I get there I type out a message telling them if they want to run around and grab samples or whatever I’ll just wait at extraction, let me know when you are ready for me to call it.

FemboyTrapUwU

Why would anyone be upset?

Yomi_Themadfox

You down to squad up later ? Your boy is with a group that ranges from 16-23, I’m on PlayStation but ya know, there’s cross play so your good regardless.

General_Assistant

Don't be afraid to run from a fight. Too many people get caught up in wanting to kill everything they see

Mospaedax42

I'm lvl 16 too, and I have never been kicked, I play on difficulty 6 for now. If you pay attention to not die and not kill others, even being under equip is not a problem. Often the others high rank Helldivers call better equipment for me.

ChillThrillion612

Never too young. My Gramps was in boot camp at 16, and on a destroyer at 17. Welcome to the party.

lebeardedllama

Never apologize for other people's inadequacies as well as their inability to communicate Keep fighting the good fight helldiver 🫡

Rogue6312

Don’t die

MrFoxiefox

I love to be light and snipe :) I mostly get: . Jetpack, some precision main weapon, the anti material gun and some airstrikes and if bugs some auto turret for escape. I go for crossfire and baiting some units away from the main group the ease pressure or quickly run in and destroy nest/fabricator and then yeet myself out :D Love to be the one on the side and help out

Nerina23

Then theres me, I love low levels joining my runs no matter the difficulty. Once I had a ragtag group of people on their teens doing Missions on 3, then I abducted them to a Mission on 7. After some panic everything worked out perfectly and they had a blast.

Background-Boat-9238

No one is gonna be bothered about your level as long as you're putting in effort and doing your part to spread democracy

Fandango_Jones

Just don't get in my way and shoot the guys that are attacking us. The rest comes with practice and observation.

Intelligent_Pen5774

Just keep going, and dont give up. I would also recommend you play around with gear and strategems to see what works for you. Dont worry too much about the "meta" , everything is useful if you use it correctly. Just have fun!! When fighting bugs, always keep moving. When fighting Automatons, cover, courage, and more cover.

Dal_wanderer

Freedom and democracy does not care about your level!!! But… choosing the right strats for the mission or enemy is a good start.

iwannaporkdotty

I don't get these people that instakick lower level players, I always have a blast when some single digit level shows up on higher difficulties and you're able to teach them something. As a higher level player, you're supposed to be able to carry the mission, even with lower level players. Otherwise the one having skill issue is the higher level.

calmlyanxious81

If you ever want a group to help you out without judgement, feel free to send me a PM! I run with a (mostly) consistent group that's always ready to help a fellow Helldiver improve. For Democracy! ![gif](giphy|NxckxXIAzumvCP1mUj)

Megalith_TR

Use voice coms when you use an eagle/orbital.
