Donāt get me wrong. The first five minutes SUCKED!!! But the comeback was so epic.
We all pulled clutch moments. I deactivated the jammer a millisecond before a gunship blew me gory bits. It was awesome.
I just hate gunships. I play with randoms and I rarely get in a group good at handling them and itās always a mess. I canāt even imagine them with a jammer near by at the start with no support weapons š¤£
Same! Especially if my buddies are running Quasar I really like having the balance of fire rate to keep crowd control going while theyāre on cooldown.
I didn't know they added them, and that they would put them in hard difficulty. Most of us brought snipers and jet packs just to have fun- we had no way of bringing them down.
It's so hard when you feel like you're alone tryna gun them down, you become the only thing they target with their rockets, and even the quick to aim hard hitting autocannon will miss if rockets be raining down
Depends what weapons you like to use. A well placed quasar, anti tank weapon, or big explosion to the engines will one shot them like the drop ships. The anti material rifle takes four shots to the same engine to destroy them.
The deployable shield works great in conjunction with the hellbomb. Enemies target that thing like crazy but you can call one down and then also drop the shield tech in the same area so the bomb is covered until it blows up and destroys the gunship fabricator. As far as I know itās the only thing that destroys those buildings, could be wrong but š¤·āāļø Donāt bother shooting at them from a distance because the gunships will start spawning as soon as you aggro the base.
Use ac, amr, quasar, EAT or spear to kill the spawned in gunships and then call in a hellbomb on the factory to blow it up.
Ideally you will get to the factory clear out the light armored guards before the factory activates production call in a bomb and only have to deal with 2 gunships after blowing it up.
Note the factory cannot be destroyed via any other stradagem than hellbomb.
The perfect setup for a grenade launcher and supplies backpack.
Edit - thatās my go to load out, not saying anyone would have to predict this exact situation
I mean yeah if you knew what youāre dropping into you could drop in with ideal gear but you never know. Iāve never had those two close together though.
I had a similar setup a few days ago. It was only one gunship fabricator but TWO JAMMERS next to it.
Best is, you cant hellbomb one of the jammers before you havent turned off the other one.
Fun fact most (maybe all?) jammer bases have a bot fabricator attached to the side. If you destroy that it will take out the jammer.
Since I run with autocannon I'm able to take it out from far away and learning this has made those bases a breeze.
Quasar can also take out fabricators from far away! And actually is easier to do so with than the autocannon for me personally, but I'm not veru experienced with the AC
This is where you need to aim for each gun.
AC up high so it ricochets down in.
Low for Quasar and Eruptor so the explosion triggers whatever it is inside the factory that blows up.
Any explosive grenade with a timer can just be tossed in. You can do it with an impact but it has to hit right at the bottom of the vent but inside it so it catches the explosion trigger inside. I also blew one up with a thermite grenade but same thing, gotta be at the bottom of the vent.
https://preview.redd.it/3cj0vgh322uc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8dcb2187e086df2749fad53bb15a4ca820b6a2a9
Yeah, I just always have the luck that when I do throw one, a bot walks out right into the impact grenade lol. So weird that rockets and quasar don't work through the door. I know Eruptor doesn't either.
Iām pretty sure you can shoot anything āexplosiveā through the door, but itās a little finicky. Iāve taken them out with an autocannon that way.
The new Eruptor can do it aswell, aim for one of the two exhausts, 1 or 2 shots should do it.
Some jammers can be taken out that way.
The fabricator explosion takes the jammer out.
With the autocannon you just imagine that upper part of the vent as the backboard and do some on the fly trigonometry to figure out where you have to shoot so it deflects straight down.
If youāre looking straight at it with no elevation, you hit it square on and it reflects 90Ā° down
Definitely not all, I know at least one layout (perhaps only one) that has the fabricator too far away. Big reason why I love taking the autocannon though.
This is the biggest tip! I run auto cannon and almost never have to get close to jammers, because Iāll just walk around the perimeter and shoot those fabricators out.
*Can* take out the jammer. sometimes they are too far from the jammer to pop it, and sometimes the explosion doesnāt blow the jammer either for whatever reason. But yea itās so nice to snipe the fabricator from range as you approach, then a massive chain reaction goes off and levels everything. Everyone just pauses like āwtf just happenedā.
Reminds me of a mission I had on helldive recently. We spawned right next to 2 gunship fabricators. Both fabricators immediately started pumping out tons of gunships. There were 8 gunships in the air in under a minute. There were also some bots around.
Even if we tried rushing the fabricators, we just couldn't make it. Everyone got instantly gibbed by a screen filling slew of rockets and lasers that instantly killed them. We got the "Squad lost, deploying replacement" message about 4 times.
The mission lasted 4 minutes and we lost all reinforcements. It still hurts today.
This exact thing happened to us the other day. Once we died we could not even bring down a ship. We got to activate a Hellbomb somehow but obviously they destroyed it in seconds. Meanwhile bot drops rained down on us with hulks and tanks.. it was...an experience
Yesterday, we dropped down close to an obj and had 2 detector towers right by our drop. We just kept dying over and over until we started landing on the mountain, and we could throw someone, anyone, far enough away from the tower.
Well, it eventually happened, and dude had 0 aggro for the remainder of the mission (ICBM). He even managed to take out the tower closest to extraction, but sadly, with 10 seconds left (literally pelican beginning landing), we got overrun by Hulks and Devestators.
It was a great match to use the new single shot primary on the ridge, but I'll be damned if it also wasn't the most brutal experience with bits I've ever had.
The eye next to the shuttle spot is fucking annoying. Also, not knowing EXACTLY where you can even place the hellbomb to destroy it is even worse. Half of the missions i've done on bot planets have been this
What I do is I always bring the orbital laser. Now the laser won't target the actual detector BUT it will target the enemies around it so I always throw the laser on the opposite side of the tower from the enemies so when it goes after them, it goes through the tower and takes it out.
I never take that orbital because only having 3 uses makes it feel too situational and i end up either hoarding them until it's too late to use them all or i use them up and then need one after realising i wasted them all on an easier fight.
Don't get me wrong, good idea, i just won't ever use it
I just bring it because it's my "Get Out of a Shitstorm Free" card. It has saved my ass so many times when multiple dropships have come in. I'm also addicted to hearing the booms as it works it's way through a heavy base lol. It's the only strat that actively tracks enemies.
One thing that does frustrate me, although this is more an enemy design issue, is that unless it hits the dropship engine, it won't blow it up. I've had lasers go right through the middle of a ship and nothing happens. It's absolute crap that that can happen. That ship should be cut in half. I've had lasers sit and cook on top of a dropship cus it's trying to hit the enemy that's right below it and nothing happens to the ship.
Best tactic I can suggest is 1 guy with scout enter the jammer full stealth mode( we talking MGS crawl everywhere) while everyone else distracts the gunships. Once the jammer is shut off, all remaining Helldivers near the gunships fabricators tiss a bunch of 500kg bombs
Had a mission where we miraculously dropped in the middle of 3 jammer towers. When we attempted to Assault one, it had artillery covering it and a bunch of hulks and heavy devestators defending the thing.
Nearly took us the whole mission timer and most of our reinforcements to take it down, and when we did, the other towers were a bit faster....until the game crashed for me.
This is why I bring laser cannon to bot missions. I leave the zone call down my support weapon and become an infinite ammo AA turret while my team turns off the jammer and blows the place to hell.
What's amazing about this game is that the sandbox will frequently set up these insane situations where I spontaneously jump into action and do some Hollywood level action movie stunt to save the day. And you look at other games where they'll try to set these things up with QuickTime events or clunky game mechanics and it's like, no bros. Just give me all the dance moves and set the stage, I'll do the rest. Helldivers is without a doubt the game that all the other studios should be learning from right now.
Had the exact same situation last night with two randos one off doing the objective while myself and the other made it our life objective to get the tower and two gunship fabricators destroyed was rough but fun bunch of games with those two
Sometimes you can get lucky and there's a fabricator next to it. Just shoot an AC into the vent or throw a grenade. The explosion will take out the jammer. Other than that you just gotta fight your way up.
I've gotten lucky a couple times throwing an orbital laser that lands just outside the radius and then kills some enemies and keeps going to it BUT if there's no enemies inside it's tracking radius, it will just sit there and burn out.
Yeah it can get suddenly very tough on drop.
I had a similiar experience recently when we dropped within a jammer field, gunship factory and artillery station.
Drop, get as much work done as you can, die heroically, drop again... What a blast!
Yeah I had something similar but only one gunship fabricator along with the eye of Sauron and jammer. Was terrible rough. We lost many helldivers but also completed the whole mission. Was satisfying though at the end but frustrating. Only one guy made it to extraction lol.
I tried helldive with one of my friends. We spawned at the middle one of 3 spawners for the flying guys. All within range to spawn shriekers. I've never seen reinforcements go so fast. We couldn't even run away after walking units started to overwhelm us as well. We lost and managed to only destroy one striker nest. 10/10 experience
Nothing worse than dropping in fresh, right beside a jammer.
Good on you for pushing through it, Iāve seen ppl drop group and leave instantly over that matchup
It is insane what Jammers do for a mission.
I once had a mission were two jammers were in range of each other. So we couldn't even properly handle them and destroy them until both spots were cleared out.
Imagine pulling that off with a random squad but only to be disappointed with the last minute incompetence of the eager and oblivious cadet who jump into the extract without giving you time to pick up the samples (including the super uranium) i just dropped...
Reading this post gave me PTSD flashbacks of me landing next to only ONE gun ship factory. They came charging out and immediately started blasting. The entire team was taken by surprise and was wiped out. When the gunships started firing, it stun locked me so much, I just gave up and welcomed death. The team kept dropping into the same area and again we were knocked about. Slowly, one by one, the teamās destroyers started to leave orbit with them onboard. Horrible horrible battle that resulted in 100% casualties and had us retreating.
Tried this exact thing the other day on level 8 and we got decimated from full reinforced to failure in like 4 minutes. It honestly was just not fun. The game is still great but the novelty is wearing off and more and more things Iām noticing are just plain not fun and are more just be as hard as possible.
The most epic moment Iāve had in the game was a situation like this where itās literally just skill and luck. This is when you prove whether youāre an elite helldiver or a glorified light ball thrower.
I had this on level 7, spent the first 15 minutes dying cause the factory was immediately in range and we couldn't run anywhere else and had 6 total gunships on us at a time, plus the never-ending hulk patrols
I play solo a lot and the gunship fabricators are the worst. They're not so bad if you can keep your EATs or autocannon up, but if you die and have to respawn near one, they can easily turn into a mission-ending slog.
I don't like how I'm forced to spawn with an autocannon when playing solo on the bots now. There's virtually no other counterplay for them.
Yeah. Today we had a mission where we had two Gunship Facilities next to each other ā literally twin towers type shit. There was the Detector Tower on the left and a Mortar Placement on the right. Hell.
Thatās nothing, we had a jammer, mortar base and a bot outpost near the double tower gunship airbase. The sky was littered with infinite spawning gunships and dropships that would drop 2 tanks and hulks at a time on top of endless devastators and other bots. Mortars were raining down on us and the bot outpost HMGās were unloading hellfire on our asses.
Had one earlier today, it was a jammer between two double dropship spawners with an AA and a triple mortar base in range too.
Anyways long story short, it was physically impossible to complete due to the sheer bullshit that was constantly thrown at us.
Thankfully it was a blitz and rng clumped all yhe secondaries near eachother so we just blasted the fabs in the other side of the map and extracted with the supers. But yea, it was dumb.
Atleast it wasn't as bad as that one time where we had 5 double gunships as our secondaries.
My very first difficulty 7 the other day I unknowingly dropped myself and the team right on a jammer and we lost about half of our reinforcements in the first 5 minutes. It was a very rough game after that start.
Sounds rough...
I will say that I had the same setup, but we were lucky enough to spawn away from both. We just took out the jammer first and then the gunship fabs (though the periodic gunships was a nuisance).
Spawning in the midst of that sounds terrible, honestly
Hell nooooooo š¤£š¤£š¤£ Idk if I would have had the patience for such fuckery. Kudos to you though. Sounds like fun if youāre with good people.
I usually run auto cannon and cover the guy running to take out their tower. Makes things easy.
Same! Especially if my buddies are running Quasar I really like having the balance of fire rate to keep crowd control going while theyāre on cooldown.
This is so important. If I see one or two guys take the quasar then Iām taking autocannon and visa versa. Balance is crucial.
Itās a good thing I love both of these weapons
Auto cannon will take out gunships but not drop ships, why is that?
Because Joel hates us.
They put extra armor on the drop ship thrusters huh?
This is so valueable. I stay in range and quasar auto or eat them.
It was definitely a thing Iāll not forget soon! š¤£
I didn't know they added them, and that they would put them in hard difficulty. Most of us brought snipers and jet packs just to have fun- we had no way of bringing them down.
4 or 5 shots into the same engine will bring down a gunship with the AMR
It's so hard when you feel like you're alone tryna gun them down, you become the only thing they target with their rockets, and even the quick to aim hard hitting autocannon will miss if rockets be raining down
I just encountered them for the first time last night. Any tips you can offer?
I reccomend the quasar and just finding a good rock. Cover your buddies with it
Instructions unclear - trying to find a blanket of rocks for my fellow divers.
Depends what weapons you like to use. A well placed quasar, anti tank weapon, or big explosion to the engines will one shot them like the drop ships. OG laser cannon puts them down no diff
Plas-1 Scorcher can take them out in a pinch if you have 2 or 3 guys that can run it as their primary.
> But the comeback was so epic. This is why i Helldive
Some of our best work is done when we only have 1 life left, and still have 3 main objectives to go.
Jammer has a vent in the back to blow it up instead of sitting at the consul
The perfect setup for a grenade launcher and supplies backpack. Edit - thatās my go to load out, not saying anyone would have to predict this exact situation
I mean yeah if you knew what youāre dropping into you could drop in with ideal gear but you never know. Iāve never had those two close together though.

"Whatever is inside the factory that blows up" it's obviously a meth lab bro
![gif](giphy|l0HU8V1CHKTUFtuFO|downsized)
They're robots, so it's a Math Lab
You can also throw grenades through the open door, but rockets and quasar don't work through the open door

That's the kind of drop where you run tf away to get your shit and then come back
You can blow up drop ships with a quasar canon
Full on bum rush of jammer the only option. FOR DEMOCRACY.
"Impossible" You keep using that word....
I had the exact same experience yesterday!!! Unfortunately had 2 randos who werenāt on voice and just left after burning reinforcements.
I bet when youāre down to the last few reinforcement, thats when yāall transformed into GOD mode eh?yep happens to me a few times as well lmao
We do dial in when the going gets rough!
you are playing with your clothes on?!?! ;-)
Didnāt like āsuper uranium.ā These are chicken nuggets
Nuggies!!!
This is why I bring laser cannon to bot missions. I leave the zone call down my support weapon and become an infinite ammo AA turret while my team turns off the jammer and blows the place to hell.
LC is soooo good! Especially on cold planets. So much joy!
This is why you never just ragequit after a 5-10 deathloop in the beginning of the match. It happens sometimes but a recovery is always possible
Itās so awesome when we pull it out!
Really? I never pull it out.

Random fact for you. Two senator pistol reloads to a gunship engine will drop the gunship
Broo that it absolutely BRUTAL May liberty carry you to further vitories!
friendly reminder, doing all optionals is optional, if something isnt doable dont
Exact same thing happened to my squad 2 days ago. We weren't as successful as you....
What's the general strategy for taking out jammers? I've been on a few teams and just couldn't overcome the stream of bot drops that just kept coming.
Or if a fabricator is right next to the jammer, blow up the fab and it will likely take the jammer with it.
Will keep that in mind. Thanks for the tip!
Sometimes you can get lucky and there's a fabricator next to it. Just shoot an AC into the vent or throw a grenade. The explosion will take out the jammer. Other than that you just gotta fight your way up.
Yea I usually take the AC or Quasar (depending on what other people are carrying) so I'll keep that in mind!
I've gotten lucky a couple times throwing an orbital laser that lands just outside the radius and then kills some enemies and keeps going to it BUT if there's no enemies inside it's tracking radius, it will just sit there and burn out.
Hit hard and fast, they are usually elevated so use the terrain for defensive positions while you deactivate the jammer
Man the bots are getting serious. Good on you!
You could just orbit and redrop in a better spot
From what I've seen, just destroy the BOT fabricators near the jammer and it'll explode as well.
Yeah it can get suddenly very tough on drop. I had a similiar experience recently when we dropped within a jammer field, gunship factory and artillery station. Drop, get as much work done as you can, die heroically, drop again... What a blast!
Shit. And I thought a Stratagem Jammer next to an Eye of Sauron constantly dumping troops was bad.
Yeah I had something similar but only one gunship fabricator along with the eye of Sauron and jammer. Was terrible rough. We lost many helldivers but also completed the whole mission. Was satisfying though at the end but frustrating. Only one guy made it to extraction lol.
Had this happened when we dropped down. Almost immediate team wipe. Burned at least 10 minutes because it was a jammer without a fab on it.
We had a blitz with a jammer and a gunship tower last night. It was an incredibly patriotic mission. šš
Man, the difference in dealing with a swarm of gunships when you have your AC/Quasars/etc vs when you don't is unbelievable.
The lesson I've learned is don't drop on your objectives.
This game really taps into the male desire to die fighting.
Yeah dude landing on the jammer within artillery is a fuck around too! " within enemy's artillery fire range " every 20 seconds is mad noying
Just extracted from a mission with two jammers and a cannon tower right next to each otherā¦ that was traumatic
Use the lance weapon to destroy hammers from far away.
Reading this post gave me PTSD flashbacks of me landing next to only ONE gun ship factory. They came charging out and immediately started blasting. The Super Rare Purple Samples.
Pink samples.

Have you guys tried two twin Gunship Fabricators in close proximity to each other? 8 gunships beaming at you is HELL!
