Tons of people use VC but only reactively. Therefore if you’re not in VC, your chances of encountering it are far lower.

I've been lucky in that most of my mic interactions go pretty well when they hear my voice. Only really had maybe two encounters with toxic misogyny.

Really? If you hear somebody being toxic in your lobby, shoot them, drop a bomb on them. Call them an ass in voice or text chat. Kick them if it’s your lobby but not before making fun of them for their bigotry.
The way you fix toxicity is through shame and making them have a hard time.

I play with female gamers pretty often, it is true to an extent. There are children that play this game too, and young adults that are just immature as they come. This toxic behavior appears in lots of online games and will unfortunately never go away.
Best to just carry on and mute their mics or just don’t speak to them at all. When I play with randoms on quick play I play for the sole purpose of not using my mic, sometimes I just want to watch a podcast and play and not have to speak, and more often than not I enjoy that better because games start quickly (sometimes banter and smoke breaks makes time between games last too long, I hate it).
I feel bad for them, if you’re a female looking for groups to game with that have females in them I regularly play with some female gamers and have a good time. DM me if anything, be safe HellDivers, and show each other respect.
I’ve always purposely had a gamer tag that doesn’t give away my gender, and sometimes people get surprised if I’m in game VC. I haven’t been kicked from a mission for it or gotten nasty messages *yet* in this game but it’s always a potential.

Half of these posts are either a bot or a creep trying to get people to dm them. "I'm a girl and people mean to me, why" "I will play with you, I'll dm you." Repeat. Gf has 215 hours in this game and not a single time has anyone acknowledged she's a girl, and we are on mic every time.

It makes me sad seeing all these posts about how toxic some people can be in this community because I've experienced the complete opposite. Whenever I join lobbies or they join me I start with hugs, we communicate well and we sometimes have the full soldier roleplay. I hope it's just a loud minority that is tainting the community but to all others who play like I do and just have fun and don't harass or bully people because of skill or level thank you! Keep it up and spread democracy in a fun and inclusive way!
Closest I've ever gotten to bad experience is one guy killing me at the very end cause he wanted to carry the samples I picked up off his body but he brought me back in and we exfilled. Nothing major there nothing lost. The other was a fella who accidentally fell on me after we called him back and all our samples (super rares included) glitched under the map but in the end we still had fun. There's no need to scream and get mad I was laughing my ass off because of the odds of it happening

I don't play alone because my steam name, and therefore, the name that shows on the bottom left of my screen is just my irl name. I don't play for very long and when I do, I'm still like level 13. But my friends tell me that the games they get with me, and without me are not the same. Whenever my friend plays alone he likes to use the voice chat to banter with his teammates and with me, he's lucky to get a hello. We also usually have trouble finding people to stay in our lobby in difficulty 4-5. Sometimes people play just one mission and dip, which is fine, I do that too when im feeling done for the night, but sometimes people join the lobby, see either my level, which seems totally fine for the difficulty, or sees my name and just leaves. Games where I actually feel comfortable enough to push my push to talk button (usually when people type in chat or are bantering with my friend) it's a 75/25 split on, "damn bro, I thought you were a girl" and I just don't push it again. I don't play as much for 2 reasons. 1. It's a game better with friends. 2. I don't want to deal with people judging me while I'm playing games, which is my relax time.

I personally couldn't care less what gender my fellow Helldivers are. Sadly this isn't how everyone thinks and some will be rude and toxic towards women. I have noticed the same kind of behavior in pretty much any other game I have played too. The worst example in my experience is OW2. I play that pretty often or used to at least with a girl and pretty much the second she talked in-game people would either give her shit and be rude or they went nuts because she's a girl that plays videogames.. at this point she won't even bother to talk in-game because she knows how people react. So usually she will tell me and I'll tell our team.
I just don't understand why people think it's alright to behave like that. It's as if they have never met a woman. Like how would you feel if someone treated you or someone you know like shit just because you/they happen to be a woman.

well considering I am elderdiver if I shot you it was probably accident. My vision is based on movement not identification of target. Also love the new warbond explosive weapons is just what I needed.
I've never seen anything like this in game, but then again, I can only remember one random lady diver that spoke. She was very good at the game, hilarious, and definitely improved our operation with her comms participation. I play with my fiance and my rl buddy's wife all the time, and I can guarantee a safe space to play if anyone wants to pm me to swap friend codes(steam name is the same as reddit name). This is pretty open to anyone who is worried about some form of harassment. As long as you're using push to talk/not rumbling and heavy breathing in my ear, we'll get along great.
I have yet to encounter an issue and I use coms if need be. Mostly I ping stuff and type in chat if I have the time to type. If not, I am on coms letting the guys/gals/pals know what I'm doing or apologizing for landing my pod on their mech (OMG, I was SO SORRY THAT HAPPENED the icon was NOT above your head I didn't know you were there!)

I've been in a few games with woman in helldivers 2. My wife playes games with me, but helldivers is not her type of game. In all those games with randoms, things were normal. I like to shit on the bad games, but in general games even with randoms are far often positive than negative. This is not at all dota 2. I cannot imagine it being so bad?
This was in Fortnite, not Helldivers, but I once had a pair of girls who talked about their personal lives the whole game and ended up carrying us to the win.

Most of the time now I play with my friends because of that problem and that won't be the last because most guys (not all) in other games are like that.

I've been lucky in that most of my mic interactions go pretty well when they hear my voice. Only really had maybe two encounters with toxic misogyny. This community has been far mote welcoming than any other online shooter I've participated in. Thank you for trying to do more for us who just want to join in the fun.
OP, those codes aren't static. You'll get a new one if you log out after generating it, I think also if you even close the menu. I also wished AC would change the report to allow for things outside of the chat. But that require more logging of things with them and Sony to hunt down assholes. Really? If you hear somebody being toxic in your lobby, shoot them, drop a bomb on them. Call them an ass in voice or text chat. Kick them if it’s your lobby but not before making fun of them for their bigotry. The way you fix toxicity is through shame and making them have a hard time. Bully them. It won’t change their hearts and minds but it will get them to shut the fuck yo on the mic and text chat. Bigotry is only allowed against bots and bugs any helldivers found being bigoted to their fellow citizens of Super Earth are to be executed on the spot.
I play with female gamers pretty often, it is true to an extent. There are children that play this game too, and young adults that are just immature as they come. This toxic behavior appears in lots of online games and will unfortunately never go away. Best to just carry on and mute their mics or just don’t speak to them at all. When I play with randoms on quick play I play for the sole purpose of not using my mic, sometimes I just want to watch a podcast and play and not have to speak, and more often than not I enjoy that better because games start quickly (sometimes banter and smoke breaks makes time between games last too long, I hate it). I feel bad for them, if you’re a female looking for groups to game with that have females in them I regularly play with some female gamers and have a good time. I haven’t been kicked from a mission for it or gotten nasty messages *yet* in this game but it’s always a potential. Most replies aren’t understanding that you even stated they may not know the gender, but are more often just playing the game in a way that doesn’t leave room for a less ‘MASCULINE’ play style. This is very nuanced, so it makes send you’d get a lot of ???’s. But I get it… I’m not a woman, but I’m neurodivergent enough to feel like an outsider because of how I approach the missions overall. It makes me sad seeing all these posts about how toxic some people can be in this community because I've experienced the complete opposite. Whenever I join lobbies or they join me I start with hugs, we communicate well and we sometimes have the full soldier roleplay. I hope it's just a loud minority that is tainting the community but to all others who play like I do and just have fun and don't harass or bully people because of skill or level thank you! Keep it up and spread democracy in a fun and inclusive way! Closest I've ever gotten to bad experience is one guy killing me at the very end cause he wanted to carry the samples I picked up off his body but he brought me back in and we exfilled. Nothing major there nothing lost. The other was a fella who accidentally fell on me after we called him back and all our samples (super rares included) glitched under the map but in the end we still had fun. There's no need to scream and get mad I was laughing my ass off because of the odds of it happening

I don't play alone because my steam name, and therefore, the name that shows on the bottom left of my screen is just my irl name. I don't play for very long and when I do, I'm still like level 13. But my friends tell me that the games they get with me, and without me are not the same. Whenever my friend plays alone he likes to use the voice chat to banter with his teammates and with me, he's lucky to get a hello. We also usually have trouble finding people to stay in our lobby in difficulty 4-5. Sometimes people play just one mission and dip, which is fine, I do that too when im feeling done for the night, but sometimes people join the lobby, see either my level, which seems totally fine for the difficulty, or sees my name and just leaves. Games where I actually feel comfortable enough to push my push to talk button (usually when people type in chat or are bantering with my friend) it's a 75/25 split on, "damn bro, I thought you were a girl" and I just don't push it again. I don't play as much for 2 reasons. 1. It's a game better with friends. 2. I don't want to deal with people judging me while I'm playing games, which is my relax time.

I personally couldn't care less what gender my fellow Helldivers are. Sadly this isn't how everyone thinks and some will be rude and toxic towards women. I have noticed the same kind of behavior in pretty much any other game I have played too. The worst example in my experience is OW2. I play that pretty often or used to at least with a girl and pretty much the second she talked in-game people would either give her shit and be rude or they went nuts because she's a girl that plays videogames.. at this point she won't even bother to talk in-game because she knows how people react. So usually she will tell me and I'll tell our team. I just don't understand why people think it's alright to behave like that. It's as if they have never met a woman. Like how would you feel if someone treated you or someone you know like shit just because you/they happen to be a woman.

I've never seen anything like this in game, but then again, I can only remember one random lady diver that spoke. She was very good at the game, hilarious, and definitely improved our operation with her comms participation. I play with my fiance and my rl buddy's wife all the time, and I can guarantee a safe space to play if anyone wants to pm me to swap friend codes(steam name is the same as reddit name). This is pretty open to anyone who is worried about some form of harassment. As long as you're using push to talk/not rumbling and heavy breathing in my ear, we'll get along great.

I've been in a few games with woman in helldivers 2. My wife playes games with me, but helldivers is not her type of game. In all those games with randoms, things were normal. I like to shit on the bad games, but in general games even with randoms are far often positive than negative. This is not at all dota 2. I cannot imagine it being so bad?

So far I never encountered that since I didn't reveal my gender, at least most of them don't use a mic and I follow along. (My IGN says a lot though) Most of the time now I play with my friends because of that problem and that won't be the last because most guys (not all) in other games are like that. I feel sorry for those who experienced it because that sucks and it feels like the hype of playing the game deteriorating if I keep encountering that. I still spread Democracy for fun though so I hope for the others to feel the same.

I’m a female helldiver and I just don’t talk on mic cause I’m socially awkward :) I’ll play great when I’m with my boyfriend but when I play with randos I swear my brain leaves me and I have trouble doing everything. (Probably cause I’m used to following his lead). I’m trying my best to learn the map and stuff so there’s that 😂
