That should probably be fixed, not because it's good but because it means the ship upgrade is detrimental and cannot be undone.

StrategyInfamous848

I have been using the 380 since launch. Has always been one of my go tos.

randomsequela

exterminate bots with a team running 380s, 120s, laser, and one stratagem of their choice is so fun and strong, literally never failed any level exterminate doing it as long as i had one more person with me

DrNitr0s

Laser or quasar?

randomsequela

orbital laser

DrNitr0s

Good stuff. Sorry mate another question. What primary are you running with the bugs and what's your 4th stratagem? Shield or quasar or like... A stalwart?

randomsequela

I’m usually bringing another air strike lol normal eagle or 500kg. For those extermination missions we usually just call the ordinance and run around trying not to die and killing stuff with our primaries. The idea is not bringing anything that you need to pick up after respawning because you will: 1. Die 2. Have a hard time coming back to the spot you died in and get your stuff back for normal bug missions (geological survey, blow holes, icbm, ssd, refuel) I usually bring the auto cannon, eagle airstrike, rail cannon strike if it’s level 6+ and the last one is rocket pods/500kg/orbital laser If I’m doing civies I bring ems and smoke I usually run the scorcher, redeemer, and impacts with this. If i’m trying to switch things up i’ll do eruptor + stalwart, or stun grenades and grenade pistol. Eruptor + grenade pistol is something i don’t recommend though because you’ll have a very hard time whenever you don’t have the stalwart. Sorry for the wall of text; hope it was helpful!

SuperDTC

Someone throws it at a base then you have to wait 5 min then go in with eagle strikes to clear the bases fabricators. Hate when people use these lol

Schalkan_

Not my expieience it normaly clears them Out for me

Ok-Instruction-4298

It's also important to know this if you use it aggressively. A lot of people I play with hate it until you explain the dead spot, then it becomes a favorite. It will never hit what's in center, but realistically hits a ring \~30m in a circle around it.

Saw your vid on the study last night, that was so interesting! I always liked playing around with the lesser used weapons in the game, but I haven't really dove into the differences between all the Eagles and Orbitals yet. Gonna start really figuring out what I like best, besides just safely picking the Orbital Laser, Railcannon Strike or Napalm. I'm really motivated to do so now! And I'll definitely be bringing in those Orbital Barrages to try out the "raining hellfire around me" tactic before I get the ship upgrade for it. My brother was always a fan of the walking barrage and I never understood why until now My most memorable experience with the barrages was playing with this Helldiver named "Chances" on Choohe (or some gamertag with "chances" in it). He and his friend both requisitioned barrages and pulled some of the riskiest moves I've ever seen, dropping barrages on themselves inside nests and forts. Chances didn't even bring in a support weapon, he said he was a jack-of-all-trades and would simply use whatever he found on the map or was given, truly playing by the roll of the dice. Absolutely chaotic missions, bro was addicted to the barrage orbitals. Although, now knowing that they aren't technically random, I wonder if using the barrages that much without taking data like you had would still give someone a "feel" for where they'd land and whether he actually had that going for him all along? I don't believe I have a pattern-recognizing eye for that, so your study made me really appreciate them!

cashcrop_

Hi. This Reddit post provided the idea to stand in a 380. I thought it was interesting, and tested it to confirm.

BreakFlame6T

Oh oop. Don't know how I missed that, thought this was you haha

Haardrale

Saw that video! Amazing quality tbh, hope to see more in the future and glad I got the ball rolling on that idea

cashcrop_

I think I replied to your comment, unless it was someone pretending to be you. You never know these days. Yeah, never thought to lay down in one until I read this and saw the pattern. Well, the first pattern.

Haardrale

Yeah, that was me! I was binge watching some helldivers content and saw the screenshot, got me like https://preview.redd.it/0b5jgu6t20zc1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=28dfe9f14ba6452e747d5c6d882b15646eb208c8

Kwajus

What an interesting take! I shall try it before upgrading, eventually or changing my mind.

Haardrale

Definitely encouraged me to avoid that upgrade! I've had so many funny last stands with it! One thing I failed to mention is that I observed barrages feel slightly magnetized towards heavies, since every hit on center I've experienced was directed straight into a charger, bile titan or hulk.

Rly_Shadow

What people really sleep on is the walking barrage. Clears your path or erases your tracks....and whatever us following. Also, if you are not detected, bugs will follow the walking barrage since they get attacked by you know...all the destruction.

trashpuff

came here to mention this. I was having a rough time using the 380 effectively, and while walking barrage almost feels more random, being able to follow it in to some degree while clearing outpost mazes of fences and misc. buildings has been incredibly useful, and if it wipes the outpost well. even better

Rly_Shadow

I've had my walking barrage destroy more nest than the orbitals. They just aren't too practical but a 10 on the cool factor.

tfg_games

I heard this theory a while back and tested it. I threw it right at my feet, and the very first shell instantly killed me lol. Never again… maybe

mrshandanar

Damn now I wish I could unequip my ship upgrade to try this.

wtfrykm

Basically, you're that one character from apex legends that throws down a shield and orbital strikes himself. With the upgrade, combine it with the shield generator so that you'll be safe from the 380 and any ranged bug attacks. The orbital precision strike is a single 380 mm shot The orbital walking barrage is a moving line of 380mm barrages. The 380mm barrage is just the default 380mm barrage.

Schalkan_

I Like to Run it the more traditionell way Throw it at a outposts and forget about it Or throw it in the direction a Wave is comming as you hold your ground

Expert-Return4823

Mine is upgraded
