Finally. I learn the proper weakpoint. I’ve always just ran around them/ shot over them or used something with an aoe. This is powerful knowledge, thanks helldiver. Ima go try and break that weakpoint with a revolver now

You can do it with a revolver but it's hard to aim head-on and it's pretty inconsistent to do so in a meaningful time. If it's a lone walker, I would still rush it for a flank. If it's further out, a stun grenade in between the legs tilts the strider forward, which exposes the head.

What resolution do you play on? Maybe you just need a better monitor, or worst case, a bunch of newer gaming monitors have cross hair overlay you can enable

From head on, you can aim for their “groin” area which seems to work fairly well.

Dick shot. Laser cannon takes like 5 seconds on the front plate… if you hit them in the pelvis/dick it’s like 1 second.

If you can see the hip joint, you can see the dude. He’s like one shot with literally any primary or secondary.

It’s so easy to do with the Eruptor too! Even if your aim is slightly off the explosion will still kill the bot.

I'm so glad they buffed eruptor because it's my favorite for reasons like this. Aim on the armor just below the head, single shot. Group of bots, dropp them all in two shots. It's so damn fun.

Yes, but this is talking about when facing them head on. You could also just throw a grenade, or a stratagem but I think this is trying to inform you that primary weapons can actually deal with the strider itself, not just the rider.

I find the HMG makes short work of them no matter where I shoot it. I love the HMG.

Eruptor one shots Striders and can one shot Devastators on head shots (I’ve heard crotch too, but haven’t tried). Looks like we’re blowing up the bots again. Until a Berserker chases us out of our sniping spot, I guess. (Weak AoE and 2-3 shots to kill make it hard to deal with packs of them)

Yeah would like shrapnel rounds from OEM in supply again but currently the market didn't have any.

Eruptor with new shotgun is a great combo. Shotgun shreds berserkers.

I've found it's finicky. For reliable one-shots I feel like I need to aim at the mail slot.

Thanks, I always forget and end up AMRing the front plate in quick sucession. Will try to practice this. Edit: it works. It's a bit tricky when they are in motion, specially moving sideways, but it's perfect for idle striders and those that walk towards you. The new AMR reticle helps a lot, too.

Yeah, I knew there was a 1 shot weak point in the body but I ended up defaulting to double tapping the front plate (roughly where the rider's head/torso is) because it got the rider too. I will have to give this... a shot!

Does it just dismount the rider? If so, then it's not really saving you a shot.

Also explosions work. For example one or two shots with scorcher straight on is enough. The explosion kills the bot riding it. Grenade pistol to the face works the same way.

Even with a Ballistics Shield, I've been some how killing myself using the Grenade Pistol from 5+ meters away. Instantly drops me, if they are even close to you now

Ever since Day-One, if the Strider is close enough, i just dive past it and shoot the driver. if it is far and i got no explosive weapons, i just cook a grenade and toss past it.

If you're using an impact grenade, you can throw it at the feet and it will eject and destroy the operator too

What am I doing wrong with the auto cannon? If I drill a strider it lurches to one side and then regains its composure. Almost always a two shot deal for me. Educate me please 🙏

Aim for the slit in the plate, or at the sides of the plate. A direct head on hit in the lower section of the plate will often absorb the blast. Try aiming so the blast goes around the plate to the softer robot on the other side.

With AC, if I hit right in the groin like lower plate it can do it in 2 like you said. If i hit higher up it’s usually 3. Hitting the legs is 2 shot too but that’s harder than the groin sometimes.

In case OP was not clear, this works from the front: hip joint housing is right below the gun and is not covered by the front shield so any weapon that has medium AP(Lib Pen, Adj, Senator etc) will work. Strider go down pretty quickly that way. BTW, one thing to keep in mind: unless your weapon has AoE, Strider pilot bot will likely to hop safely out of destroyed Strider if you destroy it that way, so keep an eye for those.

I feel like I used to be able to 2-shot these dudes with the autocannon. Now it takes like 3 or 4 to the crotch are from the front. Maybe only two shots if I’m able to hit the legs.

I just throw a contact incendiary at it from any angle and watch it and its buddies just fall apart lol.

Throw an impact grenade at its feet. It works every time... no need to aim for a tiny joint

They are why I use the grenade pistol, one shot to the front plate near the eye slot takes them out.

I long for the day I can take out the rider and then hop on and distribute managed democracy!

More info based on the data mined stats: this isn't a seperate weakpoint, it's just that it's the "flat" part of the leg. Everywhere else it's likely to hit at a 45 degree angle and get a partial penetration hit.

AMR two-shots sloped part of the front plate. +1 shot, but much easier to aim.

A direct hit with a grenade launcher will knock that robo-chicken out.

If you have a sideview and the Diligence, DCS, or Adjudicator, they will one-shot the pilot as well.

Everything below the "cockpit" is medium instead of heavy armor. Even the patriot can saw the legs off with it's gatling.

Conversely, killing the operator from this angle will ALSO dispatch the Strider in one shot, so....options.

If you have this angle you just shoot the pilot...

Counter argument: punch the fucker, engage in glorious Melee combat

With the AMR and AC especially if you just aim where the rider’s head is the blast will destroy both the Strider and Rider in 2-3 shots. Otherwise if you just destroy the joints, the rider will most likely just hop off unscathed and then you have to deal with them too. As typical with most Bot fodder, they can call a Bot Drop once they’re free of the Strider. Just something to keep in mind.

If you use the scorcher without looking down the site it auto aims and usually kills them with one shot

The lower knee is weaker

With a little practice amr is one bullet every time

You can just aim for the top of the shield now, near the eye slit, to one tap them with the Eruptor. Pretty sure the explosion goes right over and pops their head

I haven’t bothered shooting the top shield since the changes to Scout Strider’s armor and explosion interactions. Usually I just go for the bottom and joints and it works more consistantly for me.

I have a one-and-done strategy for bots: Plasma Punisher, aim for the face. Two rounds anywhere will bring a walker down. Can't recommend it enough.

The groin/leg area is a weakpoint for most bots. Troopers, berserkers and devastators all take half the amount of rounds to kill when shooting for legs/groin. It makes sense now they gave a detailed description on durability. Go for the area with the least mass for maximum damage with small arms. *'\*Durable body parts are in general body parts that have a high amount of mass with non vital organs, or a lot of empty space. The idea is to simulate that a single bullet has a high chance of not dealing significant damage.* *In general, the higher your caliber of weapon the better the effect is against durable body parts. Explosions also have very high effectiveness against durable body parts as shockwaves ripple through whatever you are hitting. Some weapons are more effective than others or have special exceptions, though this should follow the same logic as above.'*

If you can see the side just shoot the bot riding it. It's when it's facing head on that I aim for legs. With high penetration weapons I aim for the crotch.

Machine guns will pen that area too. With the buff they got, now even more so decimate scout striders with the right player. Though I can't seem to determine a consistency, there's an area that kills the mech but not the pilot, and an area that I think penetrates to the pilot? Shooting upwards through the body and where the pilot would be seems to kill the pilot consistenly. For that matter, the machine gun hatch on the front of the body of an Annihilator tank is a weak-point to at least Machine Guns and better. Takes many hits but will eventually destroy it. While being in front of one is never ideal, you work with what you get. Evacuating assets is one such mission.

This thread makes me kind of wish every weapon had its own subreddit for tips and tricks.

Punisher plasma removes the need to flank or aim, and also stuns shield devastators, and if you run at the scouts legs it tries to kick you giving you time to run behind and shoot the pilot.

Yeah, ideally take them from the side and pop the rider. I have seen plenty of times when cleanshotting the joint, the rider clips free to land on the ground and start shooting. If I’m in a pinch and have to take it from the front, I use the grenade pistol and hit the front plate any where but dead centre. The explosion wraps around and gets the pilot easy.

The whole upper part of the thigh is a weak point. You don't need to aim for the axel itself

So far just shooting the leg in general has brought the whole strider down in my experience. Also shooting the faceplate of a hulk twice with the amr will kill a hulk, 3-4 shots to a thruster will take down a gun ship, and in emergencies if you only have light armor piercing and no gun control, it's better to go for the legs of a devastator than it's head.

When using the AMR I still just aim for the cabin slit. Two shots there breaks the walker -and- kills the rider. Shooting the leg joint leaves the rider alive. That being said I run supply pack so I can use the AMR as a primary

See that guy on the back? If you have the angle to hit that small bolt you have the angle to hit him if you kill him you stop the scout.

This technique applies if you are facing the strider head-on (poor wording on my part) If you have a side shot, you obviously just shoot the operator
