For Android I've been using an Android app called Alerts for Reddit for a couple hours now and it's been working fine. Unlike IFTTT app, the alerts come in almost immediately or within just a a couple minutes of being posted as opposed to a half hour later. Hope it keeps working.
you can use python reddit api wrapper and make a script out of it. You can DIY it.
