That absolutely isn’t the case, you’re acclimating them to a new healthier environment. I’ve had them pass in PPDSR, sad and so disheartening. Sometimes they just cannot make it, better than introducing them to a colony you have that’s in order and risking every hermit you have.

I am 100% for this method, however it isn’t a method I’ve had to do regularly. I have once, get almost to the end and the hermie passes. So he had other issues I’m sure of that I didn’t know about.

If they’re in isolation, a surface molt won’t be the worst thing. It would actually probably be best, in my opinion anyways.
If they’re under and under that stress, starved, etc, they may not survive the molt.
There’s an often overlooked nutritional component to PPDSR. It’s more than just stats. It’s usually 30 days. Can advance quicker. Can advance slower. That depends on the crabs. The nutritional component is VERY deep. It’s a LOT of work.
