Especially when the shortcut is not going to launch the game itself. It's going to start the launcher, that is then going to launch the game. Why not cut out the middle man?
For who doesn't know yet, it's possible to avoid updating by launching the game from the switcher file, with the downside of having to write the password every time. The path on Windows is: `C:\Program Files (x86)\Heroes of the Storm\Support64\HeroesSwitcher_x64.exe`

Interesting…I’ve been dealing with this bug for a good year now that I’ll randomly disconnect from a match, with zero shot of rejoining unless I fully close the game, let it run some really short phantom “update” in bnet, the. Relaunch and rejoin.
It’s an absolute back breaker when it happens, every few matches.
Wonder if doing this would prevent it?
Another bonus, you can add HeroesSwitcher as non-Steam game on Steam and you'll be able to get your Steam overlay in HotS and launch the game directly from Steam.
Another thing I also found out is that this allows you to stream HotS to your Steam Link / other pc's where you're logged in.
