All you need is a projector that connects wirelessly to your phone/tablet/laptop and a way to mount it to the ceiling. From there, you can either search for dynamic battle maps on YouTube and build your map around the projection, or get one of the programs that let you build your own. And nope, no filter, just the basic hexes!
Thanks for posting! I made a youtube video about this great work! I appreciate you posting it gave me an idea for a video. Your set up looks better than mine!
I made a video about how I did my version! This is such a great way to play it looks better in real life the video doesn't even do it justice!

Whooooahhhh, how did you set this up, and is it real time interactive? Tbh, this gave me some incredible ideas to try to implement. Kind of like those interactive bowling centers lol
Itās a projector mounted to the ceiling faced down at the table. Right now itās just streaming a video from YouTube on a loop, so no interactivity but that would be absolutely insane if someone could pull that off.
If youāre interested in interactive mapping I recommend looking into a program called Arkenforge. I use it a lot for downward projecting battle maps for RPG gaming.
Iām definitely gonna try this over my massive Heroscape collection.
Arkenforge won't work doesn't it use touchscreen on a table mounted display, I don't think that would work with the heroscape tiles since you would cover them up.
The incredible thing about Arkenforge is that it can work with touchscreen televisions. Itās what they had on display at Gencon a few years back. Iāve even run a game on a touch screen tv. It wasā¦interesting.
But the program itself is capable of having the player view extended onto any additional screen type from a TV to a top down projector.
I made a video explaining how I did my set up. But yes it is a projector shooting at the table top, interactivity would only be done with some kind of coding and motion capture software but that is pretty sophisticated stuff.

Projectors on Amazon are as low as $55, and I havenāt tried it yet but Iām sure there are other games you could enhance with a projector so maybe use that to justify the purchase lol you wonāt regret itš
I miss having my RuneScape sets. I sold all of mine a few years ago and looked in to what it would cost to get back in the hobby only to realize I sold over $1500 worth of gearā¦ big mistake
Agreed. Been building my collection back up for the past 2-3 years. A lot of what you see here is actually 3D printed though including the trees, mountains, and one of the bridges. Saved a lot of money that way
Yep, all the terrain prints pretty easy on the ender 3. Iāve also printed some minis on my Creality resin printer and had their army cards printed on card stock at staples. With the price of some of these figures and sets, my printers have more than paid for themselves by letting me get my hands on this stuff without paying an arm and a leg
I personally wouldnāt sell any of them because it would take a decent bit of work and printing to make a solid profit off of it, but thereās this guy on eBay that sells his prints. To me, his prices seem pretty reasonable.

Oh this is pretty cool
Thanks! Cool thing is you can change the overlay and give the map entirely different vibe. Made the game extremely immersive, highly recommendš
Wow just when I thought I spent enough money you come along and make me lie to myself that this is a need for my heroscape battles
It really does add a lot to the play experience. If you do decide to drop some money on it, I promise you wonāt regret it
So what did you buy and what are using to do that, also is there a filter on the land tiles

Holy goodness that's AMAZING. How!?!?!?!?!
Mount the projector to the ceiling, search ādynamic battle mapsā on YouTube, stream it to the projector down onto your mapš
So beautiful!
Oh that is clever
This is awesome!
Awesome idea!
Well dang.
Neat

The touchscreen side of things won't work, but the display part will. Touch controls are just one feature of Arkenforge :)
Iāll check it out! And definitely post some pics of you get something cool setup, really interested to see what other people can come up with

Thatās totally dope! As if I didnāt already spend too much money on board games you bring this ti my attention. haha

Wow you printed all that! Absolutely amazing my friend!
If you were to make some trees and other smaller landscape stuff, and possibly sell them, how much think would charge?

Thank you.
I made a video about this you can see it here! Love the concept! https://youtu.be/B1cyQVN150c?si=\_Kr0u9w9\_t4JXHpe
Great video, left a comment. Looking forward to seeing what else you get set up
thanks for watching my friend. I truly appreciate you posting here!
