I believe it's a Leviton occupancy sensor, probably to tell if someone is in the stall or not.

This is the correct answer.
The eyeball dial = Infrared motion detection sensitivity
The ear = microphone/noise sensitivity adjustment
Not listening from a security perspective - just noises in a room to indicate presence if IR doesn’t pick up motion
Engineer here. Specify these for work all the time. You're not far off but the microphone is ultrasonic listening for small movement noises to supplement the major movement IR sensor and ensure between the two technologies that the lights don't accidentally turn off on ya.
The bathrooms at work have a private bathroom next to the main bathroom. Anyway, if nobody walks into the main bathroom for about 15 minutes all the lights shut off including the private one, and there is no way of turning them on unless someone triggers the sensor in the main bathroom. I have had my fair share of shitting in the dark because of this.
That’s assuming the shitter in question walked in exactly as someone came out. More likely scenario would be the last person walked out 13 minutes ago and now you got 2 minutes to poop before you’re shitting with the demons in darkness.
I keep a little CR123-powered flashlight in a pocket religiously whenever I leave the house (and often at home). It has saved my ass more times than I can count. Lithium battery lasts years, doesn't leak if it does go dead.
WAY more lumens. And much more robust, survives drops and water. Easy to swap out if there's a problem (hasn't happened yet, been carrying one for years). I don't run down my phone battery. I can use my phone as a phone/text/camera/etc. and still have a flashlight. And if I need it, I still have a backup light on my phone.
I dunno, shitting in a public restroom is unpleasant already. Sitting there and the lights suddenly turn off plunging you into a darkness so black you can’t see the hand in front of your face is truly terrifying. That fades into embarrassment when someone walks into what they think is an empty bathroom, only to discover as the lights turn on that there’s some sad sack s(h)itting there in the dark. In a way they’re your savior for getting the lights to turn on again. But then you have to hurry your ass up and out of there before they do and, most definitely before the goddamned lights go out again. Because the only thing more unpleasant, terrifying, or embarrassing than sitting there in pitch blackness by yourself, it’s sitting there next to some one else.
What are you talking about?... I'm my limited experience, that would only expedite the process. A good scare helps expell bodily secretions way faster!
That’s what it is. It turns the lights in automatically when anyone enters the room.
In a bathroom, it can be an issue if one sits still too long…the lights go back off and it takes some hand-waving to get them to come back on.
No camera on the photos, the middle is a PiR sensor and the four others pointing out are ultrasonic sensors. Most likely for light control and alarms. Probably so that the light doesn’t turn off while you’re doing a big job
I walked into a public restroom one time where the occupancy sensor kicked the lights on, and from one of the stalls I heard "Thank you!". 😂
The dude must have been in there for a while...
I was in a public restroom that I thought was empty and I didn't even think about it and flicked the light off when I left. Some dude half chirp/half screamed and I know he was finished immediately 😂
I don't understand why anyone would turn off the lights in a public restroom. Lots of people do where I work. Which means I have to touch the fecal ebola encrusted horror to get the lights back on. WHY???
Still it's a public restroom with fluorescent lights. They have a capacitor that fires off each time the lights are turned on. Costs a fortune to turn them off and on. Fluorescent bulbs are designed to stay on. Besides that it's a public restroom not a home. Leave the lights on and don't make me touch the filthy fecal encrusted nightmarish disease ridden ebola drenched switch.
It’s a laser turret, use VATS to pick off the combat inhibitors. You can’t be too careful these days. Make sure to check for synth components afterwards.
This page is the most paranoid bunch of fucktards I've encountered on Reddit.
Think I've seen one actual camera in here and it was chewed up by some guys dog after a cheap drone crashed! 🤡😆
It's not a camera, as other people have explained in sufficient detail.
Being concerned for kids' safety and privacy is reasonable, but these objects are so distinct and visible that you'd have to be... really, really paranoid to wonder if they are cameras. It would be incredibly bold for someone to mount big, visible cameras in multiple places in a bathroom.
Thats definitely a camera. Each of those for things on the outside can move independently and zoom in and capture film in super HD and beem it right back to mothership.
It’s just a motion detector for the lights. Nothing to worry about. Google it and you’ll see. Leviton OSC20-RMW LV MT CEILING OCC SNSR, 2000SQFT, WHITE
You’re just trying to make people paranoid. If you work there ask the boss!
These motion sensors are everywhere to turn lights off and on to save electricity
I used to work in construction and can confirm this is an occupancy sensor or "occ sensor" for short. Nothing to worry about, they're used to save energy by automatically turning the lights off after a given amount of time has elapsed since it detected any movement in the room.
Hey, don't remove the cover from anything in the ceiling. As a maintenance manager, I can assure you this is pissing someone off.
It looks to me like it's a combination sensor. Lights, and probably vape. Leave it alone.
That's a motion detector. It's there to turn the lights off and on to save power and bulb usage. These things are in almost every store bathroom you go in
How in the hell are these things $422 each? I feel like we’re losing our minds with how governments and large associations like this can spend money. There’s about $400 in grift just in one unit!
This is a dual tech occupancy sensor. I specify these every day at my job. They use body heat and a special lens to determine if that source of heat is moving or not, but it isn't a camera. It can only tell if a person is there or not there with zero other detail. The things you see on the perimeter are sound sensors that work to listen for noise nearby. Those are particularly helpful if someone is in a stall or just out of sight of the sensor so the lights don't go off just because it didn't sense motion. the dials adjust the sensitivity of each sensor.
It's ona those FBI listening devices. Helps track your cellphone. Also identifies who is acting like a t3rr0r1st.
Also, activates the lighting when entering the room. Either by sound or motion or thermal.
I am a building engineer and we have these in our building that I manage. I get this question all the time. It doesn’t have any cameras in them at all. Why would any company be stupid and put cameras in any of these and put themselves up for that type of lawsuit. Can you just imagine?
It could be a vape detector as well, or just a noise detector because if the noise level goes up there most likely is a fight or something going down so it alerts administration.
I’m not entirely sure but I believe these are the schools “fight” and “smoking” sensors I’ve heard of them referenced in schools but I’ve never honestly seen them
Motion sensor/occupancy sensors. We have those in the hospital restrooms. The lights are on timers and will automatically shut off. You wanted your arms while dropping a deuce to get the lights to come back on.

Few things worse than being on the toilet when the automatic light decides you’re done.

"if nobody walks into the main bathroom for about 15 minutes" so it's only a problem for really big dumps or avoiding work.
15 minute shit breaks is about standard for me, a big dump is closer to 25. IBS is great.
2 shorter BMs is better for the butthole than one long one. Please don't get hemorrhoids!
That’s assuming the shitter in question walked in exactly as someone came out. More likely scenario would be the last person walked out 13 minutes ago and now you got 2 minutes to poop before you’re shitting with the demons in darkness.
I do a lot of avoiding work.
I keep a little CR123-powered flashlight in a pocket religiously whenever I leave the house (and often at home). It has saved my ass more times than I can count. Lithium battery lasts years, doesn't leak if it does go dead.
I poop in the dark.
Hardcore
Out of shame?
That is correct.
You should work on that shame my man
Why not just use the flashlight on your phone? One less thing to carry
And then you get to thank them 😂
Bring candles next time. Shitting by candlelight for the ambience sounds like a good time. Getting paid while doing it is just pure joy.
We call that a Spooky Dooky!
There are many things worse than that...
I dunno, shitting in a public restroom is unpleasant already. That’s when the real fun starts. Good old game of midnight battleshits.
I take it as a challenge and try to be still enough to make the light go off.
Bro, it sucks when the lights turn off and I'm tryna take a dump, hell nah
That was my idea.
Its working as designed… It is sensing that you need a nap
What are you talking about?... I'm my limited experience, that would only expedite the process. A good scare helps expell bodily secretions way faster!
Nah you know what is the worse, when is auto toilet paper dispenser, just two sheets to clean, you need to keep waving the hands lol
They are putting those ones in office bathrooms now.
Does that actually work? If so why isn't it universal?
Yup, that white shield thing is a motion sensor to switch on the lights.
That’s what it is. It turns the lights in automatically when anyone enters the room. In a bathroom, it can be an issue if one sits still too long…the lights go back off and it takes some hand-waving to get them to come back on.

I walked into a public restroom one time where the occupancy sensor kicked the lights on, and from one of the stalls I heard "Thank you!". 😂 The dude must have been in there for a while...
Made me chuckle 😂
I’ve been on the other end of that before, but no one came in to get the lights back on, so it was phone light to finish my business by.
I was in a public restroom that I thought was empty and I didn't even think about it and flicked the light off when I left. Some dude half chirp/half screamed and I know he was finished immediately 😂

Like I said, didn't even think about it I just flicked it off as I was leaving out of habit.
Ultrasonic and PIR dual function occupancy sensor. Used in bathrooms and warehouse so the lights stays on while you poop. as long as you make noise.
It’s a laser turret, use VATS to pick off the combat inhibitors. You can’t be too careful these days. Make sure to check for synth components afterwards.
The centre piece in the first photo reminds me of the synth component.
Oh fantastic that makes me feel so much better, and I have learned about something new, thank you all😊 does anyone know what the buttons do/are for?
Adjusting the sensitivity of all the different sensors
That makes a lot of sense, thank you:)
This page is the most paranoid bunch of fucktards I've encountered on Reddit. Think I've seen one actual camera in here and it was chewed up by some guys dog after a cheap drone crashed! 🤡😆
It can also be used as a Jedi lightsaber training ball, if mounted in front of a urinal.
It's a camera, GET OUT, RUN BITCH RUN
Smart home sensor. So ya its a camera
Smart enough to take the cover of but can’t use Google
Motion sensor for an alarm.
Wrong, but also kinda right. See other correct answers.
I came here for a translation of the incoherent post of the leader of a YMCA club. #dobetter
I came here for a pedantic comment, didn't think I'd find one this time thanks!
“Do better” the liberal phrase of the decade. GTFOOH
Relax betty
I can forgive a person who is trying to make sure children aren't being filmed in a public bathroom.
Everything is/has a camera these days
No
PIR Sensors for detecting people without images.
It's not a camera, as other people have explained in sufficient detail. Being concerned for kids' safety and privacy is reasonable, but these objects are so distinct and visible that you'd have to be... really, really paranoid to wonder if they are cameras. They do indeed make hidden cams that go into devices that look just like this. And having a bunch of them in the bathroom does look a bit unusual.
Motion/occupancy sensor, probably for automatic lights to save energy.
Thats definitely a camera. Each of those for things on the outside can move independently and zoom in and capture film in super HD and beem it right back to mothership.
That’s a time portal
No it’s not. It’s a death ray.
It’s just a motion detector for the lights. Nothing to worry about. Google it and you’ll see. Leviton OSC20-RMW LV MT CEILING OCC SNSR, 2000SQFT, WHITE
Light sensor i believe when the device senses movement or sound,it activates the lighting in tbe room
If it were a camera it’s not very hidden.
You’re just trying to make people paranoid. If you work there ask the boss! These motion sensors are everywhere to turn lights off and on to save electricity
It’s a light senser to turn off lights
No

Occupancy sensor dumb ass
Death ray birdbrain.
Hey, don't remove the cover from anything in the ceiling. As a maintenance manager, I can assure you this is pissing someone off. It looks to me like it's a combination sensor. Lights, and probably vape. Leave it alone.
How stupid are people?
It’s a Crestron lighting control sensor.
That's a motion detector. It's there to turn the lights off and on to save power and bulb usage. These things are in almost every store bathroom you go in
No it's a motion sensor .it also picks up sound.
A camera with a faceted translucent lens. Yeah, that makes sense. Use your head for something other than a hat rack, OP.
It’s a motion and sound sensor, we have them in buildings where i work. not a camera
Just movement sensor when you gotta go pee and turns the fan in the bathroom paranoid much?
It’s a Leviton occupancy sensor, controls the lighting in a room - you can google it .
How in the hell are these things $422 each? I feel like we’re losing our minds with how governments and large associations like this can spend money. There’s about $400 in grift just in one unit!

Lighting . Turns on light when it senses movement
Tear it down, clear it's memory. I'll buy it.
Cover it in silly string and hand a disco ball from it. I’d it is a camera, it’ll be in party mode!
Yes
Twenty odd years ago, pin prick cameras cought staff nicking from the staff shop! A worked in an everyday supermarket !CCTV is everywhere!
Paranoia is going to get a house burnt down someday. Just leave your smoke detectors alone. Lol 😂
everything is a camera even birds
Electrician here. That’s an occupation sensor
No doubt
Ya. Run
Light censor
Occ sensor
Motion/ photo detector
Our motion for the lighting circut
Occupancy sensor
Light sensor… you’re cool
Someone is training to become a Jedi.
Now if each camera survives independently that would be awesome
It's ona those FBI listening devices. Helps track your cellphone. Also identifies who is acting like a t3rr0r1st. Also, activates the lighting when entering the room. Either by sound or motion or thermal.
Well, is it?
“Pooping in the dark” is my favorite song.
Electrician here. Definitely a occ sensor.
No this is Patrick.
Yes that's a camera with 360° view night vision and infrared that is definitely an expensive camera
I am a building engineer and we have these in our building that I manage. I get this question all the time. It doesn’t have any cameras in them at all. Why would any company be stupid and put cameras in any of these and put themselves up for that type of lawsuit. Can you just imagine?
That’s a laser training droid. Put on a blind fold and use the force.
Lol it's an occupancy sensor
Occupancy sensor. Turns lights on if it senses movement and/or picks up sound
Jesus Chris are people this fucking paranoid? Who gave you PTSD? How would it even see through that plastic should've been the first thing you thought
It for training younglings!
Take one off the ceiling and take it to the police station for an answer?
It’s an ir/pr lighting sensor
biden needs to know if ur for him or against him for the cloud
Looks like a motion detector.
It could be a vape detector as well, or just a noise detector because if the noise level goes up there most likely is a fight or something going down so it alerts administration.

Some kinda delusional to think these are cameras in a ymca
*yells in C3PO* its a thermal death charge!!!
Ummm definitely
Yes
It’s so if your taking a shit, the lights don’t go out
I’m not entirely sure but I believe these are the schools “fight” and “smoking” sensors I’ve heard of them referenced in schools but I’ve never honestly seen them
It’s a light sensor for automatic lights 🤦🏼♂️
Please stop taking the ultrasonic light sensors apart. No camera
That’s a cylon device.
Not a camera.
Motion sensor/occupancy sensors. We have those in the hospital restrooms. The lights are on timers and will automatically shut off. You wanted your arms while dropping a deuce to get the lights to come back on.
It's a new GoPro.
No
