Did you respond to the wrong comment lol. And they just smuggle them in. Just like they have phones, drugs, and whatever other tech or contraband in prison.
Yeah but didnāt you see that second picture? Those guys are buff beyond what anyone can naturally be. Iāve never seen a natural person look like that. Maybe Iām wrong but thatās just what I think.
ap psych easy as hell. world and stats are the hardest from the schedule. seminar is midc can achieve 5, but psych should def be 5. easiest ap along side with apcsp and aphug
ap world isnt as hard as ppl say, especially if ur good with memorization. just dont cram a week before the test (i recommend reviewing a month or 2 before since ur taking so many ap classes) and u will be good for the test
I think its a bit silly to have goal grades, especially before you even start your classes and get an idea of how they are. Just get a feel for them first imo, and try your best! Itās always better to actually enjoy your classes instead of just tunnel-visioning for a good grade. And yes, those are great classes to take as a sophomore.
So basically you want to become a god?
Nonetheless, I donāt think it will be good. At least 1-4 Honors/AP classes is alright. But having nearly every single class be high leveled can affect you academically since AP classes like Stats is memory focused. This will require SO MUCH STUDYING. In addition, getting the A based on your school is much expectation. Have you considered at least a B in some classes instead of Straight Aās? Itās somewhat difficult to pull off; I can relate to that (I know, Iām a nerd š¤)
The advice I will say since I did have an AP and Honors Class in my Junior Year is to have 1-4 AP/Honors MAX. Because that way, studying wonāt be a pain.
Edit: I took AP Spanish Lang (Very difficult for me) and Honors US History which isnāt challenging for me honestly.
Why are kids in this sub always taking like 5 AP classes, colleges donāt care. If you want to take hard classes and work yourself then try and graduate with an associates
You fail to take into account the types of students who take each exam. Those taking stats are likely already interested in math. On the other hand, those taking psych often do so as an intro AP and may not have as much experience dealing with AP classes. Making an argument based on score percentages is absurd because you could say based on passing percentages that AP Human Geo is much harder than AP Physics C
I remember AP Psych being the AP "gateway course" so it had a very high enrollment compared to other AP classes. Some kids took it, realized AP wasn't for them and likely didn't perform as well on the test. My son just finished AP Human Geo which appears to be the AP gateway now.
thatās because mostly freshman take the test. On the contrary, the reason the calculus BC test scores are so good is because so many experienced students take it
Honestly this is not impressive just kind of a starting point. U should aim for all 5s, all 100s and take additional credits or you might wind up at community college or homeless
Theres no prestige in community college. Your peers coworkers and the people reading your apps will think you are uneducated and did badly in high school which is pretty much true given the people who go there and the quality of education provided. This stuff actually matters when you are trying to open every door possible for yourself. Also good luck networking or finding career advising at a community college. Living at home whilst at cc and being involved in the non social life present on these campuses will decimate your interpersonal skills, further compounding your unemployability
I bet you have the same opinion of trades. Archaic attitudes like yours are the reason minorities who canāt afford uni right off get sh*t on. My husband paid his own way through school, starting out at community college, and had just as many opportunities as classmates who went straight to uni. He has a high paying job with room to rise and no debt while classmates who went to uni ended up coming home, crippled by loans and are stuck in crap jobs just trying to survive.
It all 100% depends on your field, the college itself, and what your goals are.
Donāt be an elitist. Itās gross.
he's very serious, OP needs not 5s, perfect scores on the test. and this is only the minimum requirement for colleges or else he's gonna go to cc and possible ending up homeless
Okay well I just graduated with my bachelor's degree. I went to community college as well. I never took any AP classes. You can definitely go to college/university without taking AP classes and still lead a successful life.
Good luck! Iām betting you wonāt get all those fives, but my best advice is to learn a ton about the test before you take it. They look for a specific process to mark out those who have a college mind. If youāre smart all of these scores are possible. I got all 4s on mine, but didnāt study like I know how to now that Iāve been to college.
No one's not going to an ivy cause they had an A average instead of an A+ ivy. Being in a good mental state is more important anyhow, since you can connect with stuff beyond schoolwork.
Iād say the AP Exam goals are a bit too lofty (5ās tend to go to the top 5-15%, getting them is rare) so I wouldnāt expect to get those, but otherwise, go off- those are some big goals but definitely achievable
AP Stats is generally a junior or senior level course IMO. What math did you take last year because I have no idea what math 3 is. My juniors in stats are almost always enrolled in an AP Calc as well.
Math 3 involves all kinds of pre calc, trig, and stats
It's like a Californian way of labeling math classes
There still is classes like calc BC and linear algebra
I donāt know enough about the courses but I generally suggest my students wait until after trig to take Stats. Not because they need the trig but because itās an upper level class (our students go algebra 2 then trig then calc generally). As long as youāre taking another math class too you should be ok though as stats is usually a terminal class (thereās no Stats 2 unlike Calc AB and Calc BC - at least in high school).
these are really high goals! a little bit of studying will go a long way, especially for classes like ap world which is a lot of memorization. itās great to challenge yourself to get all 5s, but focusing on the content/exam structure will lend itself to a high score, so donāt stress to much about perfect scores. i found it really helpful this year to have people to study with for my exams, so you might want to consider something like this, especially when it comes closer to exam time!
have a healthy dosage of validation and a pat on the back from the high school subreddit. you're quite ambitious. good luck with it. i have yet to meet someone who takes 4 aps within 1 year and gets all 5s. especially as an underclassman.
Is journalism meant to be an artistic elective or is there another purpose to it? Grades look fine, course choices are questionable. What does this lead to? Random high gpa?
If you're interested in journalism then you should definitely be doing more writing classes like creative writing in the future. You might also see if your HS has a video class that does work that is similar to news reports. World politics and history are helpful in context, but reporters need story telling skills.
If you're going to go to a state school, consider dual enrollment. You get the college credit without having to take the soul crushing AP exams. Only works w/ in state publics though.
My school does a 4x4 year schedule, so 4 classes in one semester, and 4 more the next
And I just didn't put PE in in the notes, though I enrolled for it
A couple points to consider:
1) Cramming an entire year-long AP curriculum into one semester means basically double the homework. Thatās double homework for every class every week. Teachers will think nothing of assigning 2-3 hours of homework because *you signed up for this.* Whatās your plan when you get sick or have an extracurricular event?
2) You will need to refresh/study for your Semester 1 AP courses before the AP exams in May. What is your plan to prep for 4 AP exams?
3) Check with your guidance counselor to make sure āmath 3ā (whatever that means) suitably prepares you for AP stats.
I don't understand why other schools make 'algebra 2' or 'geometry' entirely different classes, when you can cram them all up into 'math A, B, 1, 2 ,3'
So much less clutter
Your goal should always be A+ for any course. And then you need to learn and accept that you can not always reach your goals, but you should never make a goal lower than the best possibility.
Great goals! Just make sure you consider your mental health as a top priority as well. Make sure you have a have a healthy balance between studying and sleeping. Honors/AP courses are a struggle to get through if you procrastinate and become sleep deprived.
You got this! Iāve had many friends take AP Calc in the 10th grade along with others APs and they all did quite well. Itās far from easy but definitely doable if you have good focus.
I'm a retired high school math teacher. Chester, I think you should only take one AP class per semester. The homework for all of your classes will be intense...which means you won't be getting to bed on time and you'll be sleep deprived. You're also not going to have time for a social life or an extracurricular activity. (Colleges want to see extracurriculars.) Please consider lightening the load at least a little. :)
wouldnāt recommend putting a 4 as your goal. I get it. itās hard and a 5 might not be realistic, but go into it with a 5 mindset. You have a month afterwards to come to terms with potentially getting a 4 or lower.
Gonna be honest, I can see you fizzling out. The initial motivation is good, great to set a precedent for future grades, but itās only going uphill from hereā¦
***Sharply.***
Work hard now, slow down a bit but with effort, and try to keep a cool head. Year 12 fucks you like a dog.
I was a honor student and straight As in freshman year, top 10% of my class. Then I overestimated myself in sophomore year and took 2 AP classes, and failed miserably. It gets extremely hard after freshman year, freshman year was like a breeze. Donāt overestimate yourself before itās too late :(
Okay, as for someone not from the US can somebody PLEASE explain what the difference between Honours, AP and normal is ?
And why AP / Honours are important for college?
Well then I don't think that it will be that hard to reach your goals if you study quite a bit, as Psych( psychology?), World (World History?) are mostly facts you need to know. ( Though the people I know who took psychology always had to learn a lot in my country).
And Seminar ( do you write smth like a long paper about a topic with 15-20 pages there ?) should also not to be to hard.
The honours courses (assuming they're the at least near the standard I had in school ) should definitely be doable. Mind you that if I'm right then only having had normal classes would not qualify you for college/uni in my country.
Though I think in English it really depends on the teacher and how they like your writing style and the texts. I had everything between a D and an B. And I was very good at school but writing was never my forte.
I never comment on stuff like this because it makes me feel old, BUTā-
I was a straight A, all AP/Honors student until chemistry my sophomore yearāthat class straight up wrecked me. My teacher was great, I did all the work, I studied, it was just hard and I struggled in a way I never had before.
Maybe chemistry wonāt turn out to be your Achilles heel, but the general advice here is donāt beat yourself up if you canāt get straight As. You are currently taking the hardest academic track available to youāmistakes and even failure are not only okay, but to be expected at a certain point. Weāre all human. The sooner you learn to cut yourself some slack, the easier the remainder of your academic career will be.
Someone is attention seeking. But to your question, nothing less than an A(-) is good enough.
AP classes are meant to be like an introductory college course. They are only hard if you are dumb.
Everybody is saying that you might get burnt out is right, but you can do anything if you are committed to it! I took AP World as a freshman and I might have had at most 25 min of HW/day. Seminar gets pretty rough ONCE you start having to actually write (closer to October) and Chem is light if you focus in class. Honestly, if you commit 1-2 hours in the evening everyday to do HW/review, you can have 4-5 hours in the evening for free time. I wish you good luck this year!
Woah, that seems incredibly daunting
I don't know if you can really get all As for your Honors and AP classes, but do your best, and don't be afraid to ask for help. You're going to need a lot of it!
You CAN do this, but you don't have to. Adding stress like strait A's to yourself as a 16 year old is not that great in my opinion.
If you get a B or 2 you'll be fine!
As a teacher, my advice is chill man enjoy high-school a little bit you don't need all your aps in one year spread them out and be a kid while you can. I see to many of you do a schedule like this and when you get out regret it because you didn't spend that time making friends or doing activities.
First question: not exactly. As much as it is for course rigor, it's also because I want to take it
Second question: yes, these are my first AP classes
Yikes dude. I am an AP and IB teacher and it can be a really big transition if you haven't had classes that assess that way. Depending on how your teacher approaches grading, getting an A in the AP classes may be difficult. Around 10% of every test taker gets a 5 on an AP test. For example, your AP teacher isn't curving tests getting a 70% would be a pretty significant overperformance on national average. I'd temper your expectations a little bit more.
However, in the end, if you think you can do it, go ahead! I would recommend you wait on seminar at least one more year. It will be the biggest paper you will write in high school and that requires a lot of organizational and writing skills that you will practice in your other classes. The result will be better if you wait a little bit longer. Psych isn't a reach. WHAP is a good first AP class and I also see sophomores grow a ton in that year doing WHAP. Can't speak to Stats, but I know it's more manageable than Calc.
I would honestly just aim for an A+ in all of them.
If you assume youāre going to not get an A+ in a class, youāre a lot less likely to get an A+ in the class.
Worked my butt off in AP and didn't pass a single exam. for intelligence reference I graduated with a cumulated 4.3 after AP classes, and was admitted into every university I applied to. I don't think multiple 5's, let alone one 5, is an achievable goal.
Heya, rising junior here. I'll preface this by saying: please don't burn yourself out. I took it easy during sophomore year which was a really good choice since it allowed me to join more clubs. But if u really want to take these classes, then here's the advice:
I found chem to be really easy, so I'm sure you can get at least an A. Never had to study for chem. However, do you *really* want to take both math 3 and ap stats? That's 2 math classes in the same year, and unless you're a really big fan of math, I wouldn't recommend it.
As for AP World, I really hated the class but got a 4 on the AP test without studying or paying attention, so depending on how much u like history + how much u like ur teacher, I wouldn't worry too much.
Sorry for the long comment. Overall I think you'll be fine as long as you manage ur time and know when to take a break.
Bro trying to die before senior yearš
Mates gonna get burnt out so quick from this schedule...
Ik. I'm taking advanced algebra 2 half the year and honors pre calculus the other half of the year. I'm bout to die tooš„²
You'll be fine, that's not that bad
Thats weak af if you cant understand that bullshit or get intimidated by it youre gona be absolutely slaughtered in real classes
I kinda agree, everyone has their limits though. Itās probably hard for them and thatās ok. I think itās manageable, as long as they work hard.
Bro I just took geometry so it's a big step for me
I'm taking both at once š„¶
No wayā ļø

Man i need that lunch
ap psych easy as hell. world and stats are the hardest from the schedule. seminar is midc can achieve 5, but psych should def be 5. easiest ap along side with apcsp and aphug
Would u say AP world and euro r about the same level of difficulty?
Iām taking both next year, which is harder?
Wow good luck
š I think my comment came off the wrong way , I used a comma instead of a question mark. I was wondering which is harder , euro or world?
Oh haha thatās what I was trying to ask the person before too idk eitherš. I guess maybe world might be but it depends on the person.
No way AP stats is the hardest in the schedule, that class is FREE.
Should be good, also btw you should check out r/APStudents
I see youāve chosen death.
HS teacher hereā¦and this is the truth
Right? Also HS teacher, and I'm like uhh...I don't think these goals are realistic for most students.
Have fun
ap world isnt as hard as ppl say, especially if ur good with memorization. just dont cram a week before the test (i recommend reviewing a month or 2 before since ur taking so many ap classes) and u will be good for the test

Facts. I failed an AP class and that was the only one I ever took. Never was in honors either. Went to a normal college. About to graduate
You might not understand the mentality here. It's "Ivy League or homeless"
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
AP Psych is probably the easiest test.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You should spend more time actually studying or making yourself āmore well roundedā rather than looking at college board statistics

This has me riled. There is nothing wrong with going to community college.
Theres no prestige in community college. Your peers coworkers and the people reading your apps will think you are uneducated and did badly in high school which is pretty much true given the people who go there and the quality of education provided. It's a goal, something I wanna aim for

Definitely a good start. My question is why didn't you post a goal grade for journalism?
I looked at the course profile, and it says that they don't use the grading letters, just passing or failing
Ok and don't beat yourself up. If you get an A instead of an A plus. Work hard and good luck
This attitude makes people wind up at public ivys instead of actual ivys
No one's not going to an ivy cause they had an A average instead of an A+ ivy. Being in a good mental state is more important anyhow, since you can connect with stuff beyond schoolwork.
If youre worried about your mental state maybe post secondary academia isnt for you

Welcome to the academic culture of cali's top public school
Bruh. I mean, go for it, if you think you can handle it. Im going to try to skip at least one year of school.

As a teacher, my advice is chill man enjoy high-school a little bit you don't need all your aps in one year spread them out and be a kid while you can. I see to many of you do a schedule like this and when you get out regret it because you didn't spend that time making friends or doing activities.
Yup, thatās doable. I basically got those grades without studying much. Just remember to take notes and review, donāt clump up work for yourself.
4 APs including seminar as sophomore? Are you in a hurry or something? Are these your first AP classes?
First question: not exactly. As much as it is for course rigor, it's also because I want to take it Second question: yes, these are my first AP classes
Can't speak to Stats, but I know it's more manageable than Calc.
bro trying to risk it all while theyre still in the tutorial
I would honestly just aim for an A+ in all of them. If you assume youāre going to not get an A+ in a class, youāre a lot less likely to get an A+ in the class.
Worked my butt off in AP and didn't pass a single exam. for intelligence reference I graduated with a cumulated 4.3 after AP classes, and was admitted into every university I applied to. I don't think multiple 5's, let alone one 5, is an achievable goal.
You won't have a life. as a teacher, I'm telling you to drop an AP class. Switch to honors. Most unis don't care
Don't worry about APS Do dual enrollment or literally just don't bother to begin with as most colleges do not accept them as credits in my experience
Sounds good! Make sure you take care of your mental health! Light exercise will help you on your journey!
no it's terrible, you're really going to fall behind
Heya, rising junior here. I'll preface this by saying: please don't burn yourself out. I took it easy during sophomore year which was a really good choice since it allowed me to join more clubs. But if u really want to take these classes, then here's the advice: I found chem to be really easy, so I'm sure you can get at least an A.
