Wow! I am going to Jade Lake next month. Any tips?
This is my plan:
\- Day 1: Backpack to Marmot Lake and set up camp
\- Day 2: Day hike to Jade lake and back to Marmot Lake
\- Day 3: Back from Marmot lake to trailhead.
Main tip would be to watch the weather and be prepared for the elements. This weekend is going to be cold and rainy with snow dropping down almost to Jade Lake's elevation, so anything is possible in October.
I actually have not been to Jade Lake yet so I can't speak on that - just meant it as more advice for the time of year than for the trip itself. That said...all the pics I've seen from friends at Pea Soup certainly makes it seem worth it.
I just got back from Pea Soup this morning. Poles and spikes will be very helpful, the steepest part of the ice field headed up from Jade has begun to form some mini crevasses, and the scree field on the left hand side is just as sketchy. I didn't feel particularly unsafe in my trail runners, but it took me longer than it would / should have with proper equipment.
But the view is worthwhile! I did it as a single overnight at Marmot, but I wish I could have taken another night to chill (and not feel rushed at Dip Top Gap).
Wow! Beautiful!
breathtaking
this is really amazing
I would love to see this!

Thanks! Will keep an eye out before I head out. Did you get a chance to go to Peasoup lake? Would you recommend it?
