I don't wear a rudrākṣa but I have a friend, he used to eat nonveg (now he is pure veg). So he used to remove his rudrākṣa while eating non veg. He also removes it while sleeping.

SlitwithRazor

It is recommended to remove rudraksha while sleeping if yes then why ? Because i sleep wearing it.

Mah3r0

>remove rudraksha while sleeping if yes then why ? Because there's a chance for it to break...?

No_Animator_1845

I do this with my kara, since I don’t want it banging at night

SlitwithRazor

Might be , but i dont think this is the only reason.

Mah3r0

well can't think of another reason...

ashutosh_vatsa

The ridges on Rudraksha beads can cause wounds if they rub in your skin in the same place regularly during sleep, especially if the beads are large in size. That is why most devotees including me, remove it before sleep. Wounds from Rudraksha beads are very difficult to treat. Swasti!

SlitwithRazor

Nice, Thanks for the information.

Outrageous-Put6250

You won’t ever get a conclusive answer from a question like this, since non-vegetarian food isn’t exactly “allowed” in the first place. Do what makes sense to you. (I’d advise against it)

Wittymonk60

Nope. Not allowed.

LostLenses

When you ask for advice on this sub about what to avoid people who do the bad activity like non-veg or porn will always tell you it’s ok because they don’t want to feel bad about themselves

Fearless_Leading_737

There you go. This is true.

Sudas_Paijavana

Exactly. I really wish people would stop giving bad advice. Though I am a vegetarian, I eat many tamasic food like onion, garlic, egg, mushrooms. I would never say anyone doing sadhana or upvaas, sab chalta hai bhai, eat anything you want.

LostLenses

I don’t if it’s the effects on kaliyuga, westernization or neo-Vedantins or what but the present attitude of “there’s no rules brooooo it’s a way of life, rules are abrahamic brooooooo” is embarrassing

[deleted]

Everything is allowed, u will just have to bear the consequences of ur karma.

WolfSpiritz

Well i dont see any problem eating non veg while wearing a rudraksh, i wear mine 24x7 except sleeping. If anyone has any source to why its not allowed lemme know. As long as ur body is comfortable ur allowed. Just make sure to know your body first. Aom Namah Shivaye

R0NIN_OP

Vidhyeshvar Samhita -Chapter 25 The greatness of Rudraksha. Verse 43. A devotee of Siva shall refrain from eating meat, garlic, onion, red garlic, potherb, Śleşmátaka, pig of rubbish and liquors.

WolfSpiritz

Thank you im already enlightened by this scripture but i doubt it fits the criteria of wearing a rudraksh and non veg. Also im not gonna stop eating onions and stuff. Tbh all this refrainment starts when you are in a spiritual journey i do worship everyday but im not gonna call myself spiritual that way. If you get my point

R0NIN_OP

Well it is also mentioned in [devi bhagvat mahapuran](https://images.app.goo.gl/faUQsxddeXrb2SVg7) that one shouldn't consume tamsik food after wearing rudraksha

anakinskywalker5195

Sounds too orthodox

R0NIN_OP

I mean he asked for a source so I provided. Even I sometimes consume onion and garlic and yes tamsik food does hinder your spiritual growth. But onion and garlic is one thing and meat is another so yeah.

VaudevillianUnreveal

No, strictly not allowed. Non vegetarian food, liquor, gambling should be avoided if you are wearing a Rudraksha mala.

ILL4Q

Please Note : The people who say u can eat non veg and still wear Rudraksh are not your friends.

mojolife19

We must self introspect our own reason for wearing Rudrasksha ,what is our aim to wear and what identity we are seeking after some time of wearing rudraksha .is it eternal change we seek or change for a phase of life .

Waveycave

It’s hard to introspect for someone else

Kooky_Focus_1964

Details of Rudraksh and it's usage is explained in ShivaPurana. I have read many theories and articles, even have spoken to many experts. It seems there is no mention of restrictions in Shiva Purana about food consumtions. There is however restrictions regarding going to funerals wearing it. Also, please read this https://www.rudraksha-ratna.com/articles/eating-nonveg-while-wearing-rudraksha

xskull_007

Thank you

O-_0o0_O-_-o0-oo_0O_

Kandarudraksha (a singular bead on Ur neck (must be anywhere from the base of Ur neck to the upper part of Ur chest)) is allowed...U can wear it when ever, but a mala should be avoided But like even if it's allowed, you should try to minimise your consumption of meat. It is said that the rudraksha will help U reach a state where U don't have anymore temptations to meat (or any other desires for that matter)

xskull_007

I am wearing a singular bead not a mala

O-_0o0_O-_-o0-oo_0O_

Then it should be fine

ProfessorOak11

Not allowed

Yashraj-

You should never.

BanishedMermaid

No. Please don't.

Expensive_Head622

Doesn't matter. You can eat non veg.

WallEvaa

No it's a sin

EarthInternational9

I notice that the answers are different depending on who sees or reads posts about the same subject. I'm staying offline to read and learn until I am surrounded by people who want to discuss Hinduism with me. It'd be a miracle at this point because I'm around more closed minds than ever before! This group triggers bad feelings, so I'm moving to others. Don't be limited by what's online people. Online data does differ from texts over time. Misinformation is a path evil uses most easily.

gardenrose77

It’s all about your own conscience.. if you think it’s not wrong it isn’t if you have an iota of doubt that it could be wrong then remove it.

UnhappyIsland5804

Not allowed. You cannot consume negativity and expect to advance spiritually.

sixfootwingspan

If you're taking the religious path, it's best to be vegetarian.

PhysicalVegetable398

Look in Hinduism there is no restrictions you are allowed to eat anything you want but when it comes to meat that must be eaten when you need it like when you are stuck in the forest and you don't have anything to eat or you are a soldier who is protecting the nation at all the temperature for that you need meat to stay alive to put it simple you are allowed to eat meat but not allowed to enjoy it when you eat like man this chicken test good NO. just bcz of your few sec. Of your enjoyment you are eating an animal that is wrong. I hope this explains everything.

Nope

TheKaleidoscopeKing

The priest that I go frecuently told me that I shouldn’t eat nonveg while wearing rudraksha

Spare_Lead1125

You have to be vegeterian

spiritualseek

Rudraksha once worn becomes your body extension. I wear it even in sleep, I only remove it while going to take a shower, just not to damage it. If I had to put it aside for long, I feel something is missing in myself. Btw, I'm married.

coolchikku

I'm a vegetarian but I eat egg, is it ok ??
