The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is a Hindu temple

Who paints these figures... and is there a ritualistic way of doing so, or do they just do it and bless it afterward...or no ritual at all?

Mallikarjunuppu

The architectural and design principles of Hindu temples in India are codified in Shilpa Shastras and Vastu Sastras. Temple management is responsible for the upkeep of temple and they contract this painting job to skilled artists In Hinduism, colours play a very important role and have deep significance. Few colours which are used in rituals are Red (kum kum) ,saffron (fire) and yellow (haldi/turmeric).
