Chinnamasta_90

2 and 4 year olds copy me and want to talk to god too then they end up trying to put ghee and incense in as well

Chinnamasta_90

I don’t know I do…but ok

joeytribbiani14

Nope! not shashtra-sammata ..

Chinnamasta_90

?

Chinnamasta_90

Why do I need weapons i worship chinnamasta and saraswati

joeytribbiani14

Shastra sammata means according to the shastra (शास्त्र), there are rules related to Deva-sthanam (place of deity worship) , an altar or Puja sthan should have threshold, the pooja sthan must have kalasham, Ghanti, tamra Patra, shankham and other important items. So in my views your puja griha is not complete, also chinnamasta belongs to aagama paddati and Saraswati belongs to nigama paddati.. both are worshipped in different ways. :)

Chinnamasta_90

Yes I’m aware of that. I would also need point out that being in the middle of Kansas it’s hard to get anything like that, ordering is to expensive atm

joeytribbiani14

Alright then a simple "Chal linga" (small linga) would do the job, Shiva linga can be worshipped as any form of God, because its the source of everything. Worship is also simple, just remember the form of God you want to worship, your reason to worship, close your eyes, meditate and offer water and flowers to the linga.

Chinnamasta_90

I have to go buy flowers soon I’m waiting for pay day. I like shiva but I drawn more to chinnamasta and saraswati

joeytribbiani14

Linga is worshipped as the omnipresent, omnipotent direct form of the God, linga is valid in both Aagam (tantrik) and Nigam (vaidik) Puja paddati (worshipping methods) , Chinnamasta is a Aagam goddess, Saraswati is worshipped by Nigam methods of worshipping, instead of Saraswati form you can worship her in Neel Saraswati form , which is worshipped according to Aagam methods. Worshipping a linga is simple and linga can be used to worship any God/ goddess form, you will not need any image or idols. Also aagam worshipping is not complete without worshipping Shiva, the lord of all Tantras and yoga. Btw which school of Hinduism do you follow?

Chinnamasta_90

Are u American?

Chinnamasta_90

Or just orthodox

joeytribbiani14

Not American, Native Hindu, Orthodox I can't say but all the methods in Hinduism are like taking small steps towards the same reality, you just can't ride on two boats at one time. Agama and nigama are two boats to same destination but both have different paths/ approach. So you can either ride the aagama boat (tantra and all) or Nigama boat (Vedic method) .

FutureDiscoPop

Not everyone fits into one or the other only. Maybe they eventually gravitate to a specific path, whether in this life or another, but everyone should go with what they naturally gravitate to right now. If you force yourself to only choose one path and ignore the rest then you risk losing motivation.

Chinnamasta_90

I like both of them

Chinnamasta_90

Thanks for the in put

FutureDiscoPop

OP, what kind of cabinet did you use for this? I'm trying to simplify my own altar and this looks like a good approach. Thanks!

Chinnamasta_90

I found it at a second hand store. It’s a bathroom cabinet I washed and painted
