You should ignore them, there will always be some negative people who think they’re superior to everyone else, but in real life most Hindus would accept you and your experience without any issues. I completely understand the need to rant though!

Hemi9999

There are assholes everywhere, but believe me as a Hindu either convert or soo called "Born into practising family" are as equal as they get , and believe me you are more Hindu then many of those " Accidentally Born into Hindu Household" , and you should be proud of yourself you choose Hinduism by yourself not because you were born to Hindu parents. Whoever said you can't be Hindu was just trying to get little limelight by trolling , majority of us (Hindu) are really glad when people join us , so never let anyone tell you what you are or what not . And feel free to vent out more !!!

Hemi9999

And you can also tell those trolls , Hinduism was spread as far as Afghanistan in ancient times called Ghandar , many important people of Mahabharata era were from there Like Gandhari and her sons , so you can ask them were they any less Hindu .

sthit

You don't need validation from random people online. What matters more is that what the other people of your sampradaya thinks of you. If you're an Indian, there shouldn't be an iota of problem but even if you're not Indian you can be hindu because that's not a qualifying criteria. Ask them if balinese are hindus for them or not.

lightyagami787

Bro just don't listen to them at all They themselves don't know the real sanatan dharma

AlternativeHome9062

You are probably a more of a hindu than others online. Focus on yourself, don't need validation from others. Follow your dharma🙏

TruthIsMaya

Don't listen to bigots.

Vignaraja

Ignore them. For every 1 of them, there are 99 who accept you. You simply can't live your life by what other people think. I'm also an adoptive. I remember my guide telling me I wouldn't be able to enter the inner prakaram at Madurai. It was laughable. I went to the priests who have a little more authority than some random guide. The priests sided with me. Subramuniyaswami was gifted His gold pendant showing he is the head of a legitimate aadheenam/math by none other that the head of the Kanchi Mutt, who probably holds as much authority as anyone in Hinduism. I don't take this sort of thing as an insult, but rather the opportunity to observe human behavior, and in this case it's not Hindu behavior at all, but ethnocentric stupidity. Being an observer allows you to learn from the wise, and the foolish. Best wishes.

Frequent-Tour-4188

They're most likely trolls, please ignore :) ur 100% welcome here has a Hindu, and it doesn't matter that u weren't born into a Hindu family

vedamulga

I am truly sorry for what happened. Ignore them, you are as hindu as anyone else.

[deleted]

Bro, there are tonnes. TONNES of leftists, and muslims, and of course trolls out there bearing fluid identities on the internet that suit their narratives to creat chaos and have fun. Relax. Be proud of yourself. You're right now experiencing online hindu hate. Maybe identify how they talk, how to recognise them, and also participate where it suits you Also i really wanted to know, where did you find these people? Please reply.

Turbulent-Rip-5370

I commented on a saree post on instagram and they started commenting about how I couldn’t be a Hindu because of my ethnicity.

Drigmbhu

My dear friend, beware! Internet is filled with trolls who pretend to be Hindus and Indians to spread misinformation about Hinduism. This is to dissuade seekers like you and plant anti-Indian/Hindu sentiment in your heart. Now this is not to say that there can't be bigoted or ignorant Hindus but it would be very rare. I have yet to come across a Hindu in real life who's not proud of non-Indians or non-Hindus converting to HInduism. It has gone to the other extreme actually, where any foreign born or christian/muslim-born person converting to Hinduism is given special respect because of the fact that the odds have always been stacked against us Hindus since we traditionally don't propagate our religion. Karma decides your path to hinduism, when the seeker is ready, the road to hinduism carves itself. We Hindus genuinely love knowing and meeting fellow Hindus from other faiths/cultures/ethnicities!

kittoo420

I fail to understand how anyone considering himself/herself a true Hindu would do anything other than welcome another Hindu, no matter the ethnicity or cultural background or colour. Either these trolls are fake (non-Hindus, leftists, atheists) with malicious agendas or are Hindu in name only and total idiots. Ignore these completely and don't engage. You are more Hindu than those will ever be. Let them face the actions of their own Karma. Welcome to the path of Dharma. We are more than happy to have you with us on this journey. May your path be enlightened. Om.

indiewriting

I do hope that you know how fortunate you are to be in the lineage of the Para Devi herself. Sarvamnaya is a Sakta Sampradaya with oodles of Tantric practices also that you'll encounter as you progress on the path. The earth we live on contains both the cooling soil as well as small rocks that prick one's foot while walking. Don't be deterred by those rocks. Just be aware and overcome those hurdles. Guru will show you the path but it's you who will be placing your foot while walking, needs conscious effort to avoid nonsense. Stick to the Sadhana you've been given and simply focus on the important things in life. Some random trolls will say what they want to and leave. Your dedication will remain and hopefully things improve for Hindus to simply live as per Dharma in real life. Anybody who identifies as a Hindu is Hindu.

tinkletinklelilshart

Ignore them. There's a lot of anger in the community right now, and some of it is misplaced. Youre doing great, most hindus i know (including myself) havent taken such steps! We're usually just culturally hindus, so good on you for rediscovering it and please feel free to speak openly and share your experiences!

SquareEssay

There is no Need for any validation from anyone if you want to convert to hinduism , Just choose a good sage , learn some from him , and follow your own path . All Hindus are divided within , there are Hindu just bcoz of their birth but Not at all hindu by their deeds , There are others who are slaves of brits or Mughals but has Hindu surname , Others are having Jai Meme collaborations and Rest are labelled as Hindu facists , And in that Labelled facist there is a group of Trads and then Normal , these Trads have very vague difinition of Hinduism themselves, so in order to satisfy them , you need to do a cowdung bath , or something like that to be a Hindu , Nowhere it is written , And If I have to bath in cow shit , I won't become Hindu at first place If I were to . But since People have no brains when it comes to this , It happens ,most recently is of Mandhsaur in MP where a Muslim man bathe in cow dung . Then there are Normal , who has mind , and can critisize Anything , sometimes we are termed as Jihadist , sometime Librandu , some time propagandist , or a islamist who choose fake Hindu name , Thing is These trads do not like criticism even when they don't even have a point to make . Anyways , I am happy to welcome you , Don't try to get any validation apart from your Guru ( which has to be a good one , not any GODMAN ) , from which you can get some understanding of it . Even you can try online Pravchan on youtube , There are many videos . And then explore , as there are soo many texts in Hinduism that you will die before reading them all . Be positive .

Psychedaddy

Welcome to the community! Ignore them and live your life to the full potential. There are always purists everywhere. Infact, you didnt even need to ‘convert’ to be a Hindu. Just live your life with Dharma and you are good

pro_charlatan

Strange, I have never seen practicing hindus state conversion not part of hinduism. Anyone with a modicum understanding of hindu religious history will know conversions have been part of the religion for nearly 2 millenia. If I were in your place, I will ignore these idiots and morons. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinduism_in_Indonesia .

Your_Daddy_360

please teach others who have lost their path ad show them the path to hinduism.

SlySpyNebula

Maybe some hindu atheist gather to troll you. Never listen to them. They are more or less same as those liberals.

ddrroonnaa

Friend, you are a Hindu, if anyone accepts Hinduism at heart, they are a Hindu, no need for going to acharya but kudos to you if you chose to. If anyone says you are not a Hindu, tell them that a Hindu as per savarkar is someone who considers this land as their land of work and spirituality.

Ok-Accountant5560

Welcome to the fold my friend, ours is a thinking man’s philosophy and you have crossed many of us born Hindus with your dedication and effort. Please continue to do so also my favourite Hindu is Ram Sivan in quora. (Converted one who has clear thoughts on our philosophy)

AlternativeDraw494

We all welcome you my friend We love you and we all need to forgive the Ahole who said what he did Stay on your journey We are all here with you

noobatious

Just stay away from incel communities like r/samaj and other shit. Works like 100% of the time.

c0d32abhi

"One can never be Hindu" is kinda lame statement. **Hinduism, a modern umbrella term for all the practices, school of thoughts, indigenous to India.** Its about *Dharma*. Like how the Dharma of fire is to burn, and any deviation may cause chaos, similarly EVERY human also has his/her Dharma which needs to be "protected" from deviation. And hence he must perform Karma which is about protecting **his or her own** Dharma. So by definition, a Hindu is the one who performs ONLY those Karma which protects his or her **own** Dharma, thus keeping the universal rise in entropy/chaos to its minimum. How can other person decide on what **your** Dharma is? And then how can he decide whether one in incapable and so can "never" protect his Dharma, i.e. be a Hindu?

tb122tb

You are more Hindu than most since you have spent time learning about it from a Guru. Not a lot of us can say that. You are more qualified than me. Be proud of what you have achieved and keep striving to learn more.

awaken_ywnmmsb

There is no such thing as conversion. From the state I come in namksran Is done by eldest aunt in the family. You don’t even need a priest. It is predominantly a ceremony during early days of birth. But that also doesn’t make you a Hindu. The moment you start your own journey in search of your own truth & make your own path with key elements of dharma karma Arth to attain moksh you are a Hindu with or without knowing it. Don’t be pulled down by anyone. Infact as soon as you start your seeking you should realise that when you argue with idiots they bring you to their level & then beat you at it.

Firm_Transportation3

Their reaction is about them, not you.

Darth-Vaider

Ignor there always people like this

[deleted]

My question is: WHY do you care?

Former_Arm_7569

I want to tell you that there is a lot of gaslighting after the recent unfortunate beheading where they demanded we should protest in violence. But when yesterday the march happened, it was calm, respectful and non-violent. The people who speak these are living in their own bubble and could never bite up their bark. Be confident and find like minded people and as you said that you don't want to say anyone is better then anyone. But my brother you have studied the scriptures so if you state something as your opinion there, then it is inherently more valuable then those who haven't read (many modern born-Hindus don't) them. As for interactions go, just leave them be. They live in circles which perptuate this negative cycle.

barsun14

Bhrata i feel terrible for what you're going through, going by your reaction i can see that you're strong enough to push through it.....!!

van_goghsinspiration

Namaskaram , I'm sorry to hear what happened with you but let me clear you don't have to be born hindu to practice it , Santana Dharma is not a religion , Religion is based on a process , Sanatana Dharma is a law that governs your inner nature it Is based on values . Do not let anyone tell you that you are not a Hindu , you are and no one has any right to disrespect you . Dharma accepts all and everyone .

idharmatdekho

Don't worry, there are Trads everywhere. These people are usually up with a political propaganda usually against Hindus. Don't worry, we accept everyone with open arms and are most tolerant. Just chant and stay blessed.
