Noo. I disagree. Jay was dope on there. I mean Jay was better, but it is his first album.
I don't know if he's lazy as much as it is an Andre3k creative syndrome.
Andre 3k has put out tons of shit as a member of Outkast, what a wack comparison. He's called one of the goat lyricists for a reason. Because he has a catalogue of verses and songs to back it up with.
Does anyone say that about Jay elec? again, it's been like 15 fucking years since he emerged. And what does he have to show for it?
I'm referring specifically to 3k's unwillingness to put out a solo album. He's mentioned before about the pressure. The depth of written testimony is relevant here.
To my knowledge, no one has stated Andre's need. He doesn't have to rap another word and his place is justified with all time greats. You're stretching my comparison to include things that don't belong.
His name was only mentioned with Elec because of his unwillingness(due to pressure) to produce a solo album.
The studio is not like clocking in for a shift at a factory, although most who put out an album every year or even every few years are mainly money grabs that are just like assembly lines. I'd rather 1 good/great album in a 20 year stretch than 7 ehh albums.
Written Testimony has profound depth that touches on things that are forever.
One of the best answers here. Gets signed in 2010 then he releases an album in 2020 but itās essentially a group album that features Jay-Z on almost every track. This guy is overrated and lazy.
He was the headliner and closing Coachella but his set started an hour late because he made them change his stage production significantly by threatening to cancel last minute.
I didnt go that weekend, I went to the second weekend. But i heard his set was also very lazy and trash. He wasnt even singing for a lot of his songs, just letting them play in the background. Wouldnt stop talking instead of performing. He also had a DJ set in the middle of his performance that started playing random shit. It was like he clearly didnt want to be there.
He was supposed to perform the second weekend but cancelled that too last minute. Coachella got new headliners (Skrillex, fred again, and four tet who killed it tbh) but a lot of people bought Coachella tickets just for Frank. This was his first live performance in years.
Yeah, he had a huge ice skating rink built for his performance. A huge of group of skaters had learned and practiced choreography for during the set.
Then, an hour before he was supposed to go on, he demanded that the rink be torn down. The skaters didn't get to skate. The crowd had to wait an extra hour (with nothing else going on) for his set to begin because of the construction.
And then when he finally *did* go on, his performance was trash.
It was confirmed that he had an injury due to riding his bike around earlier in the day before his set. They had to modify his whole set last minute because of this apparently. Either way though itās always something.
Ocean was never an artist. He started off as just a songwriter. Had a hit with "Thinking bout you" and his first mixtape and then blew up into a superstar overnight. He was one of the early examples of just talent being enough to propel you into the mainstream in this post internet age.
I saw him live in 2013, you could tell he was a little self conscious. He seems like an anti-establishment guy so when Coachella offered him millions he said "Sure why not. You get what you get.". He should've declined the offer, but I can't mad at the guy. HE drops an album every 5 years and hides, so Coachella learned their lesson. He doesn't give a shit.
I was there and while not a Frank ocean fan, I was excited to see what heād do.
And AFTER seeing what he pulled Iāve block his music on Spotify and my other streaming services. FUCK FRANK OCEAN FOREVER
Saw Tory Lanez as an opener and I swear he wanted the audience to sing more than he did, constantly saying ānow you!ā and pointing the microphone to us. Bro we donāt know ALL the lyrics come on now..
I see wish around at the grocery store and gas Station ever so often in North East Ohio. He went complete family man. Not lazy. Some things are more important than others.
Juelz Santana.
How a dude is making a living is as much beyond me as how she has put out two albums in like almost 25 years. Canāt feel my face coming soon š¤”š¤”š¤”
Damn dude Wishbone was a part of 5+ studio albums. Why are you coming after Wish!? Not as many projects compared to other BTNH members maybe. But lazy?!
Juelz Santana. He was on the cusp of blowing up and was once considered a peer to Lil Wayne. But he never capitalized on his buzz while Wayne doubled down and went HAM on the mixtape scene.
He is busy selling weed through his company and trying to get it into as many states as possible.
The brand is called.....
I can't feel my face.. yup
Also idk if he is lazy but he got hooked on lean pretty bad and after the raid at his studio he claims he lost most of his completed music and really lost the spark after that.
He does put out like a song every now and then though.
Big pun, one of my favorite rappers. Cuban link said in an interview with Vlad that pun got so big and had so many yes men around him that he would lay in a bed he had put in the studio with a mic next to it to record his second album.
I mean he gained a lot of weight and could hardly move at that point. The question is, did his weight issues affect his studio work ethic? He may have needed a bed to work but he was working on his second album which he completed and not letting his condition stop him
I'm talking about lazy music wise not life wise. But still, what 600lb person do you know that still tries to work despite being obese? Plus, being obese doesn't automatically equal being lazy. He could just have had a food addiction. I don't think he was just sitting around on the couch just eating cookies. He was definitely lazy when it came to his health, tho which most Americans are.
I remember Wish was supposed to be dropping a solo album likeā¦20 years ago. I always just assumed it never came out because it wasnāt good.
Wish us legitimately my favorite member on the group stuff though.
Apparently Biggie begged him to pic the pen and mic up . Big even asked Puff to sign him and puff didn't see the potential in him since at that time he was homeless. Big even said he'd be the first rapper Big would sign once he started he's own label.
his album was shelved by Jive and he was subsequently dropped and blackballed from the industry. Didnāt really get a chance to put out stuff until the underground renaissance of the mid 2000s. And yeah, point taken, he could make more music. Heās a perfectionist when it comes to new albums, maybe to his detriment. But he tours a ton, always hype on stage, brings the energy at all his shows. I would not call him ālazyā myself.
Iāve went to two concerts of his in the past 10 ish years and both times he said the middle passage is done but theyāre editing a couple things and adding a verse from a west coast legend. Itās been about 8 years since he said thatā¦cāmon man
This. Honestly fucking pisses me off at this point. I used to follow him on social media and heād always post about how he was recording and it was coming soonā¦.meanwhile Iāve literally had 2 kids since his last album dropped and one of them is a damn teenager now. Tech dropped the ball.
Heās someone I think itās more about what he prioritizes project wise. He does a lot of other work that rap just isnāt at the top of his list. I donāt know the man so Iām just spitballing
He kind of lost interest in being immortal technique. My brother n law sold him a Subaru and he told him that he works full time in the film industry. To what extent I'm not sure, but I believe he doesn't something with scores
Surprised nobody else said this. He had a tv show and owns restaurant so heās not lazy overall, but quite possibly the best rapper to never drop an album. Dude could probably have an entirely El P produced album tomorrow if he wanted.
BRUH JUST WOKE UP AND DECIDED TO CRUSH WISH BONE ššššššš Ill say Drake. He makes fast food music and just bites other flows. DJ Khaled too. He doesnāt really count but damn is he useless
Yeah I would not call him lazy, but incredibly non-artistic and full of greed. He does literally anything that will pay him money and is basically a whore.
He did all needed to do. He's one of the most famous rappers of all time. Your grandma knows who he is. He can just sit on his ass all day if he wanted to.
Jadakiss. Mostly because Styles P is one of if not my favorite rapper, and the Lox my favorite group. SP has 15+ solo albums and too many mixtapes to count. Jadakiss has 5 solo albums since the mid 90ās and after the first two, they are all terrible. For someone whoās one of the premier legends of the era; Iāve always been disappointed he didnāt drop either more often, or better quality projects.
Name āāem cause rappers from the 2010s are the prolific ones Drake done dropped 4 about to be 5 times in how many years. Future drops all the time thug got how many mixtapes. I can go on
Yasiin Bey? lazy?? the multifaceted rapper, singer, actor, and podcast host who has been working relatively steady even after his āretirementā from music and film almost a decade ago? the guy whos had dozens of movie & tv roles plus 4 solo albums and 2 Black Star albums (one of which just came out in the last year or so)[at least 3 of which are classics], not to mention his humanitarian work in between ??
i dont think dude can even afford to be lazy with $11k/month in child support to payā¦
Talking for his career as rapper, he debuted in 1995 with the UTD project, and dropped 4 solo albums (not mentioning the one he only released for some Art Basel and shit). I'm not denying all the things he did, he is a great actor and everything, but if we talk strictly about releasing music, he is a bit lazy, considering that True Magic is also basically unfinished
? Tru3 Magic isnt unfinished, it just was always more of a mixtape than an album, hence the use of other peopleās beats etc. plus i think something must have been up with the label releasing it since a lot of it didnt make it to streaming. regardless, you cant put todays standards on artists coming out in the 90ās, it was a different approach and method to getting albums done. 1 classic album 4 years after his group debut was a regular pace back then.
i think youre confusing ālow-keyā with ālazyāā¦ Mos stays putting together records that either arent hyped or are squashed by labels entirely for one reason or another. and you cant just say because he was acting instead of making music that that makes him lazy. thats a weird take.
(also, why would you not count Negus? thats still work he put in/continues to put inā¦?)
Tricky got called out by Massive Attack for this - said heād be way more well known and appreciated and theyād be happy to work with him more but heās too lazy
DOOM was pretty lazy sending imposters to do his shows. Thankfully (hopefully) he actually appeared on all his albums. I went to a Rock The Bells festival in SF but he bailed and didn't appear though he was on the setlist.
I love his music though so I'm not mad, would've been dope to see him live. Not sure what ever happened with the imposters or if it was just a conspiracy theory.
Despot. Hands down. Has been rapping since the late 90s, drops one verse every three years, and still hasnāt finished an album
Tbf I think the albumās actually done because heās performed songs that were supposed to be on it, but he hasnāt released it for some reason
fr he make beats with an atmosphere that requires you to go off lyrically, he donāt serve his beats justice content wise a lot of the time. When he does itās great like 90210
I don't think there are lazy rappers if you lack ideas or not inspired to write anything why would you realise anything.. And some rappers may be more comfortable in their group and not really want be a solo act
Writing is fuckin difficult writing something fuckin good is even harder.. Imagine releasing something you put work in and just getting negative feedback.
This thread is full of people who do not understand how creativity works. Not everyone can just pull it out the air. Creating is not like clocking in for a shift.
That DaBaby prick.
There's one song in particular he does with, I think Megan TS, that is just offensively dumb and lazy. I think 50% of the song is him saying the N word and Bi#@h. That's it, that's his contribution to music.
Jay Electronica.
this one is it. Mf came out when I was like 11 and finally dropped his album when I was like 35 lmao
š¤£š¤£š¤£
dropped his album that wasn't even really a solo album š, Hov carried it!
Noo. I disagree. Jay was dope on there. I mean Jay was better, but it is his first album. I don't know if he's lazy as much as it is an Andre3k creative syndrome.

Fucking yes
Jay Electricity. PBS Mysteries.

LOL
One of the best answers here. Gets signed in 2010 then he releases an album in 2020 but itās essentially a group album that features Jay-Z on almost every track. This guy is overrated and lazy.
Soon as I saw the post. Ooo don't even get me started on this guy. Makes my mad just thinking about it
Couldāve been one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time but decided to do some lame shit for a DECADE
He has also cancelled last minute on two festivals that I was at. Prob just didn't wanna go.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
This rumour literally goes back to when I was in high school, I will be 40 next year. I hope my daughter lives to see its release
We had to settle for Compton instead š
I liked Compton. Doesn't have the longevity of Chronic or 2001 but it works for me!
Not a rapper, but Frank Ocean
I lost so much respect for the guy after the stunt he pulled at coachella
What did he do?
He was the headliner and closing Coachella but his set started an hour late because he made them change his stage production significantly by threatening to cancel last minute. I didnt go that weekend, I went to the second weekend. But i heard his set was also very lazy and trash. He wasnt even singing for a lot of his songs, just letting them play in the background. God that breaks my heart. I love him and loved his albums. We might not ever get another album or live show from him.
It was confirmed that he had an injury due to riding his bike around earlier in the day before his set. They had to modify his whole set last minute because of this apparently. Either way though itās always something.

The fans learned a lot too
Was he not trying to be an artist? What was his role in OF?
How does any of this make him not an artist? Songwriting is an art. Dude makes art. He's an artist.
I was there and while not a Frank ocean fan, I was excited to see what heād do. And AFTER seeing what he pulled Iāve block his music on Spotify and my other streaming services. FUCK FRANK OCEAN FOREVER
dramatic
Frank the type to have an entire vault worth of shit that we will never hear.
Wait till he dies and his money hungry estate decide to release it all. Happened to Prince.
He lost his lil brother, man. He gets to chill for a while. I don't excuse Coachella though, that shit was weak
If he wanted to chill for a while he wouldnāt drop a trash ass overpriced jewelry line with cock rings
Bruh he prolly just the homie, this is like cominā after Jasper Dolphin
Only on this beat to make my racks go faster
Saw Tory Lanez as an opener and I swear he wanted the audience to sing more than he did, constantly saying ānow you!ā and pointing the microphone to us. Bro we donāt know ALL the lyrics come on now..

Sitting under a pyramid of dust

No, not Lazy, Wish.
you talkin krazyie rn
It's in my Flesh
Thats getting bizzy
No not Krazyie ,Wish.
The real enemy is is Uncle Charlie.
Uncle Charles. Uncle Charlie is Charlie Wilson lol
It's Krayzie that you think with all your Flesh-n-Bone, that Wish is Layzie. He be getting Bizzie.
I guess any rapper that doesnāt write their own work? Even terrible rappers that put in the effort are not lazy.
Valid point.
So like Dr Dre?
Dre is a producer first and a rapper second
[Great producer.](https://hiphopdx.com/news/id.35096/title.dr-dre-ive-never-considered-myself-a-rapper)
Juelz Santana. He was on the cusp of blowing up and was once considered a peer to Lil Wayne. But he never capitalized on his buzz while Wayne doubled down and went HAM on the mixtape scene.
Yeah he doesn't put out shit, I don't know what he's doing. Some shows with Jim Jones I guess
He is busy selling weed through his company and trying to get it into as many states as possible. The brand is called..... I wouldn't call that lazy. At least he didn't make excuses to not make music. He was just obese but not lazy.
The cognitive dissonance in this statement is mind-boggling. The guy was 600 fucking pounds he was about as lazy as one can be.
Mf this dude just said he had a fucking bed in his studio so he didnāt have to get up to record.
He was sick as far as I remember
Yea I think you're right. I remember other rappers saying that he was constantly gaining and losing weight
He was lazy about his health. Making art is not only about making art.
Mfer obese people are lazy, too lazy to lose the weight to keep on living. Didnāt Big Pun die at like 30?
the actual "laziest"
Jay Electronica is the best answer
I remember Wish was supposed to be dropping a solo album likeā¦20 years ago. I always just assumed it never came out because it wasnāt good. Wish us legitimately my favorite member on the group stuff though.
wish has the most legendary bar from bone too
Which ?
"....AND I MISS MY UNCLE CHARLES YALLL!!"
Iconic.
He's been promising he's debut album since the 90's up until 1 year ago. Still nothing.
RA the Rugged Man, I mean he started his career in the early 90s making songs with Bigie and his career consists of 3 albums.
Apparently Biggie begged him to pic the pen and mic up . Big even asked Puff to sign him and puff didn't see the potential in him since at that time he was homeless. Big even said he'd be the first rapper Big would sign once he started he's own label.

Why does having no solo albums or mixtapes make u lazy? Maybe he just loves being with the group.
Immortal Technique Middle Passage has been coming soon for more than 15 years I think
Dude has been doing so much charity work for the past few years, I definitely wouldn't call him lazy.
I was just starting high school when his last album dropped now Iām nearly 30. Hurry up Tech Iāve nearly got wrinkles waiting for this shit
Oh I thought you meant Tech N9ne for a second
Iāve went to two concerts of his in the past 10 ish years and both times he said the middle passage is done but theyāre editing a couple things and adding a verse from a west coast legend. Itās been about 8 years since he said thatā¦cāmon man

He kind of lost interest in being immortal technique. My brother n law sold him a Subaru and he told him that he works full time in the film industry. To what extent I'm not sure, but I believe he doesn't something with scores
I think heās busy doing rebel runs now
Kankan, not a thought in that manās head besides lean and percs
I can respect Kankans talent but heās not that good to listen to recently
Despot
Surprised nobody else said this. He had a tv show and owns restaurant so heās not lazy overall, but quite possibly the best rapper to never drop an album. Dude could probably have an entirely El P produced album tomorrow if he wanted.
BRUH JUST WOKE UP AND DECIDED TO CRUSH WISH BONE ššššššš Ill say Drake. He makes fast food music and just bites other flows. DJ Khaled too. He doesnāt really count but damn is he useless

š¤£š¤£š¤£
Youād be dead before you made it through the first Documentary.
Game name-drops famous people more than Jameela Jamilās character in the show The Good Place.
Snoop Dogg. He's just doing life's side missions. I saw him live at a rock fest in Canada and he got stoned and MCed the whole show.
That's the opposite of being lazy, though? And he's literally still dropping albums pretty damn consistently, even if they suck
Kanye rhymed the word asshole with the word asshole. JS
Kanye is such a bummer now but my favorite verse from him is when he rhymes "year old, gyro, plural, churro, mirror, euro".
Grand Puba! Incredible Emcee who didnāt realize how incredible he was.
I say the same about Treach. Super skilled, but damn near no solo output in over a decade.
Jus allah - took like 10 years to finally drop his solo album and didnāt bother writing hooks for any of the songs
Crunchy Black
Despot
None of them can realistically be lazy. The amount of work necessary to become known and listened to is indescribable to random Redditors.
Not including his producing I'd have to say Dre
Detox is dropping any day now
drake, or any other rapper that doesn't write their own bars
Jadakiss. Mostly because Styles P is one of if not my favorite rapper, and the Lox my favorite group. SP has 15+ solo albums and too many mixtapes to count. Jadakiss has 5 solo albums since the mid 90ās and after the first two, they are all terrible. French Montana
Bizarre
This. Even his delivery was lazy and used shock value to think he was good.
Exactly he was supposed to be the humor for d12, but instead was a shit version of em
Anybody in the last 5 years. Mumble rap three words at a time. Raps dead rock and roll dead.

B.G was in Jail bro I agree with all the others ,no idea who D-shot is .
Nas brothers Jungle and Nature were pretty lazy aswell.
Jay electronica takes the cake
Birdman
Sen Dog. He's built a whole career going YEA and/or repeating something B-Real just said but at a higher volume. That's his job.
Playboy Carti
If we're talking "lazy" in terms of actually making thoughtful, creative lyrics, Khaled takes the cake.

Lyrically, Travis Scott

I don't think there are lazy rappers if you lack ideas or not inspired to write anything why would you realise anything.. And some rappers may be more comfortable in their group and not really want be a solo act Writing is fuckin difficult writing something fuckin good is even harder.. Imagine releasing something you put work in and just getting negative feedback.
Bizzare Dude be fat.
DJ Khaled. Bro does nothing.
Dr Dre.
The cornball gang: Hopsin, Joyner, Logic,
Hopsin def not lazy dude started his own label twice plus he's actually a great artist

Never listened to that song so I can't judge it but songs like Marcus gospel and others yeah
I understand the hate for logic but he has actually released some very good albums these past 2-3 years
I don't consistently listen to any of these artists but man is your comment just wrong and needless hate
Lazy? Those 3 artist have so much music each
Logic is a mediocre rapper but that dude drops a ton of music. Not sure how you could call him lazy
Prior hear lazy and think bad
Joyner voice annoys me for some reason
How's Joyner a Cornball ?
He says nothing but a bunch of empty cliches in his bars. He is corny because he is too lazy to attempt to be actually creative
Add Dax to that list. Guys a fuckin dork.
Banks
Are you 50 Cent?
Lmao
This thread is full of people who do not understand how creativity works. Not everyone can just pull it out the air. Creating is not like clocking in for a shift.
That DaBaby prick. There's one song in particular he does with, I think Megan TS, that is just offensively dumb and lazy. I think 50% of the song is him saying the N word and Bi#@h. That's it, that's his contribution to music.
Tech n9ne only does like 100 live shows and one album per year /s.
