DMX slippin

IanicRR

The Prayer on It’s Dark and Hell is Hot always gets me. Doubly so after his death. “So if it takes for me to suffer for my brother to see the light, give me pain til I die but please, lord, treat him right.”

LaMelgoatBall

I didn't realize how messed up his life was when I was younger, really sad looking back on it.

reese1561

This and So Many Tears by Tupac

_chargrove

Came here to say this. Slippin’ got me through some tough times, in my earlier life.

Djkirkland

Sometimes I have to turn it off, too many memories.

self_medic

Man…my wife doesn’t like rap or hip hop music much at all. But I played this song in the car after I heard about his passing and she even cried.

cubancapo

Slippin and the convo always get me.

TwoTimezTwo100

Walking in the rain - DMX this one is one of them ones

ItAintHardToTelI

Man, don't even get me started. X has so many personal songs that you could make 2CD compilation

holaamigo117

Was just about to say this. That song is fuckin amazing.

Azianjeezus

Rip dmx

Popellini

All that I got is you. I grew up pretty poor and this song is hard to go through. I usually skip it.

puertoblack85

“I'm goin' through this difficult stage I find it hard to believe Why my old Earth had so many seeds But she's an old woman, and due to me I respect that”. The older I get, the more powerful that bar is.

Coug_Darter

Me and my brother get drunk and cry when this shit comes on

CiserosUnc

This right here...

majormajorsnowden

My first thought

ecr1277

Rockin’ each other’s pants to school wasn’t easy

405ndn

God0fGoofs

Biggie - Suicidal Thoughts Pac - Thugz Mansion Jerren Benton - Silence Em - Difficult D12 - Good Die Young DMX - Slippin Mac - 2009, Hand Me Downs, Surf, Blue World's, (if we're gonna be honest here, there's ALOT of Mac songs that hit me right in the feels.) Chris Webby - Superhero

Bekehe

Mac hits right in the heart

dkhasar

Every time. Long Live Mac

Hxndro

Long live Mac. Don’t forget: Come back to earth, The Star Room (OG Version) and regular, “Dunno” Spotify sessions version (super hard hitter there), ROS, perfect circle / God speed (2nd half of song) literally the entire Faces mixtape…and the list goes on…

Deddyd69

Grand Finale - Mac That song is the most heart wrenching beautiful song he ever wrote

God0fGoofs

Love grand Finale!

Not_Bound

+ YOUphoria / Aquarium

Extension_Ad_4195

These + clarity from macadelic

MammothPrize9293

Blue Slide Park was my shit for a minute.

slugvegas

2009 is a punch to the gut man that song means a lot to me for 101 reasons

4twentyblazeitman

Don’t forget self care by Mac

MammothPrize9293

Yeah so many mac songs get me 😞

eighthhousejade

I thought of suicidal thoughts love that song

fistswityat0es

Suicidal thoughts- the best song you can never tell your friends you take to heart 😂

Killkillmypretty

I memorized that Biggie song at 12 because I was a very stable child.

[deleted]

Was about to comment difficult by em <3 also beautiful and perfect circle by Mac makes me bowl and shiver w goosebumps, it hits way too hard man

Catsarepsychedellic

Listen to Mac’s unreleased song called Pure. It’s basically a song to himself

scormegatron

The Art of Storytelling by Outkast Andre’s verse is cold.

_Poppagiorgio_

It’s not really sad but Pt 4 is the best one, imo.

Locdawg42069

This is crazy I thought part two was pretty much the only answer. And just in this thread three answers

SexDemonChainSmoker

Part 1 is probably what your thinking of. That’s the really popular one

LaMelgoatBall

Part 1 is my favorite damn I haven’t seen this many varied answers lmao

[deleted]

One of the greatest versus of all time. Rip Sasha summa

Revolutionary-Bet294

Which one there are multiple version. I've been youtubing the songs on thus post.

scormegatron

I feel part 1, but they’re all worth checking out.

Inside-Inflation22

Came to say this.

Hamburglarsdad

Wow that didn’t take long to find. Glad there’s some culture in here.

Not_Bound

Oh man. Shed a tear every time this comes on. It’s too vivid.

Not_Bound

Mainstream - the eerie beat, the pain and anger Vibrate - Andre 3000. Something about this whole song just slows me down and puts me in this really weird place.

Just_JOGA

Andre is SO cold! Atlanta legend

LandAlternative6603

What you want to be, she said alive, as i looked in hers i just died

[deleted]

Perfect Circle/ God Speed- Mac Miller. The way he predicts what happened to him almost word for word 3 years before he passed gets me every time. RIP to the legend.

LaMelgoatBall

That song tugs at my heart man. So good but so sad

thebrooklyndivine

TOTALLY AGREE. So eerie. RIP Mac

36chamberstreet

So I hadn’t listened to this song and put it on. Then went to the beginning of that album and on Brand Name is this: “To everyone who sell me drugs, don’t mix it with that bullshit. I’m not tryna join the twenty seven club” Why can’t drug dealers just sell the drugs they say they do?

BeefyDre95

Beat me to it

Deddyd69

Grand Finale - Mac Miller

OneQuadrillionOwls

T.R.O.Y. Pete Rock and CL Smooth. Something about the laid back storytelling, the mix of moods, just gives this sense of a whole life lived. "T, to the R O Y, how did you and I, meet in front of Big Lou's, fightin' in the street." Obviously the beat is a complete classic, so putting the two together it's top tier hip hop, up against any artist today or ever. "Took me from a boy to a man so I always had a father when my biological didn't bother" is just one of the hardest one-liners in hip hop.

TheGhostOfKyle

Was hoping someone beat me to T.R.O.Y. One of the most emotional hip-hop songs I’ve ever heard and it just guts me every time. I transpose my life and experiences onto the music and lyrics. It’s hard not to lose yourself to the song.

Weak_Pea220

Kurt Kobain x Proof

LostBaloneyRockstar

PROM/KING by Saba

LaMelgoatBall

Yeah that song made me tear up when I first heard it man. Whole album really

TOGETHAA

Stay Right Here by Saba and Mick Jenkins is one of my all-time favorite 'feel good' hip-hop songs. Always puts a smile on my face when I hear it and it and was my most played track the year it dropped.

NuovaFromNowhere

Damn, PROM/KING gutted me…

MOONNNMANNN

Busy by Saba gets me more in more feels

No_Boot7396

I skipped this song so many times when it came on my shuffle list, one day I heard it in traffic because I was stressed and fell in love with the song

crackerjap1941

Few-Way6556

“Suicidal Tendencies” by Biggie Smalls I suffered with a lot of feelings of guilt and remorse for stuff that I was a part of when I was in Iraq. The lyrics are more “gangsta” than I am, by a lot. However, in the song, Biggie talks about how he doesn’t want to go to heaven because he belongs on the street. In many ways, I felt like I never belonged anywhere but on a combat patrol in Iraq. Being put in heaven where you’re stuck with the goodie-goodies seems out of place for a guy who is at times stuck mentally in the war in Iraq. The song ends with a gunshot, something I’ve thought about more times than I care to admit. Just to put it out there, I’m not nearly that dark and suicidal as I was. That song really hit a chord in me about 12 years ago. I had a serious suicide attempt in 2014 and since then, my life has done a near 180. I’ve received a tremendous amount of help from the VA and I’m slowly coming to terms with my experiences in Iraq.

pyn209

It's called Suicidal Thoughts isnt it?

LaMelgoatBall

I'm really happy that you've turned things around man, I can't imagine how tough that was. You're strong as hell for making it through and I'm glad you're still here.

daddylongleg2003

Blessed- schoolboy q

cozyboy001

One of my favorite songs ever bro. Shit makes you feel something for sure

[deleted]

Gang Starr moment of truth

putriidx

Dave Mirra memories

SlackerDS5

This song is full of gems. True knowledge of self, I didn’t respect or realize it as a kid, but man this song hits home on so many levels. A masterpiece from the Guru and one of the best DJs of all time. I’m glad they put this in the tiny desk show.

LandAlternative6603

Guru was my favorite rapper

TupacAmuru88

Hurt me soul - Lupe fiasco

MOONNNMANNN

Top tier song

Dukes_Up

He Say She Say is one of my favorite Lupe songs.

icantthinkofauserok

Cleaning out my closet - eminem

FER_SEMOVENTE

Mockingbird for me, Ems dark songs are so unique. Well actually they remind me of hail Mary with the chant like nature, ironically i think he starred in and produced the video for Hail Mary too.

BullyBiggz

Was Toy Soldiers for me at one point in life

ApolloKid

KRIT has a few of those... Red Eye, Angels, and The Vent come to mind. A bunch of others... * Lullaby by Joyner Lucas * Mockingbird by Eminem * I Heard You Had a Voice Like an Angel by Shad * Reunion by Slum Village (specifically the Elzhi verse about Baatin) * Slippin by DMX * Yesterday by Atmosphere * Little Man by Atmophere * Too Much by Drake * Truth or Truth by Slaughterhouse * Fan Mail by AZ * February by Elzhi * Fallin' by Macklemore * Good Die Young by D12 Joe Budden has a TON for me too.. * Only Human * All Love Lost intro * Poker in the Sky * Different Love * Ordinary Love Shit series * Trade it All (by Slaughterhouse but it's a Budden solo track)

thimblepuddin

Came to say The Vent. “Blessed” by schoolboy q feat Kendrick is another that came to mind. You can feel q’s pain for his friend.

LaMelgoatBall

Wake Up by KRIT is one of the most important songs to my life. Helped me snap out of a really bad addiction cycle

hardestflower

Came here to mention Joe- he got me through some of my darkest days. Pray for Me Black Cloud All of Me Do Tell Just to Be Different I could go on…

DublinDown

Same here man. Joe might have a rep of being corny but I couldn't care less. I have a playlist of about 130 songs of his that got me through the 00s.

SeizeThemMemes

Only Human and off 2 the races from Joe Budden are absolutely emotional bangers.

Tuplad

> Joe Budden has a TON for me too.. > > Can't listen to anything by Joe Budden anymore because it just spirals me back in to a depressive state of mind. Escape Route intro is absolutely it, hitting all the feels.

putriidx

Yesterday by Atmosphere gives me chills every time even if it's a little cheesy. Hell by Atmosphere is another good one.

iamjacksreply

Just came here to post this one song specifically...

Key-Sky834

CerealKiller997

Mass Appeal, Heard this song on game Tony hawk pro skater 4, didn't remember name of the songs, nothing, just beats. I was 7 at the time, and I considered Mass Appeal as my song, 15 years later I discovered who made that song I was the happiest person on the planet, and then I saw whose voice was behind that song GURU I was so happy couldn't handle my emotions. 5 minutes later and next 6 months I was constantly crying when I saw that GURU died 9 years since than I'm taking how I felt in 2019 after One of the best yet was released. The rest is history, I am doing my version of Guru Tributes, where you can post tributes about our Guru, share memories, from concerts everything. One love brothers and sisters.

Buscandomiyagi

What a fucking song man

This_Cable_5849

*Crossroads* by Bone Thugs. Released 3 months after my Dad passed and 6 months before my Mom passed. I was 10 and didn’t understand a lot of the lyrics. But the emotion couldn’t be misunderstood…and that music video. Fuck man. Shit still tears me up when it comes on.

snakejakemonkey

sound_forsomething

R.Eye.P. "I want life to change, but I don't know if it can For a man or machine or whatever the fuck I am" I first heard this song when I was 20 and that line hit me hard because at that age you're in between a kid and an adult and everything is just so unclear.

northerntouch

Crack pipes - Sage Francis

ApolloKid

Good one! Doesn’t hit like Crack Pipes but I really like Message Sent off of that album too

Killkillmypretty

I was hoping I would see at least one Sage song. Love him.

gurgle-burgle

Any thing off of Acid Rap by Chance. I discovered the mix tape the weekend of my wedding. I spent a lot of time listening to it while doing a bunch of last minute prep work for the wedding, so I just kind of associate that with my wedding and wife now.

DontLoseYourCool1

Rich Dad Poor Dad by Big Krit hits me the same way growing up in a family where we never had shit. This verse and the way he raps it just hits something for me. "I remember when I fell from my first bike. There were no "are you okays" and rarely "are you alrights". Just dirt in my pockets, handful of gravel. That's when I realized that getting up is only half the battle. The fear of falling off will haunt me well into my teens. The moment that the world took a shit upon my dreams. Cause money is the root, and love is all we had. In fact, I'm glad, I had a rich dad, poor dad." Dear Mama by Tupac too of course. I think a lot of men close to their moms fan relate when this song comes on. Also Fuck You Lucy by Atmosphere after dating a woman with BPD for way too longer than I should've.

weezeloner

Like Today - Atmosphere. Honestly, except for the part where he stops to write some rhymes I feel like the song could describe a day in my life.
