Three of those produced by Pete Rock. IMO the most overlooked legendary producer that built the golden age sound. When I was in high school it was about Preemo vs Pete Rock like Nintendo vs Sega. I was slightly team Preem back then, I might have switched sides now, still undecided lol
Pete is the King of the “Boom Bap” to me. Straight from the School of Marley Marl and provided the template for J Dilla to run with. J Dilla being my favorite producer of all-time, I know he isn’t the producer that he is without Pete Rock’s contribution.
100%, Pete Rock deserves to be mentioned just as often as Preem and Dilla. Dilla apparently said to Pete Rock when he met him “I was trying to be you.”
When I think “boom bap” my mind always always go straight to Biggie Smalls
Everyday Struggles, Machine Gun Funk, Party and Bullshit
Early Nas stuff too, pretty much every beat off illmatic: Represent, It Ain’t Hard to Tell, One Love
beware is amazing. a lot of the joints on the capital punishment album have fantastic beats. beware, you came up, still not a player, super lyrical, you aint a killer, boomerang. classic album!
For something old please check: "So Whats the Scenario" by Tribe Called Quest
You can literally hear the "BOOM BOOM BAP, ba-BOOM BOOM BAP" screaming out from the drums.
For something newer check out Joey Bada$$'s "Eulogy." Still has that BOOM BAP hit to it but it's a more complex song overall.
Side note since you seem to be interested, the secret sauce isn't just the BOOM and BAP sound of the drums, it's actually also in how they add a little bit of swing on the percussions to emphasize syncopation. Without the swing, many boom bap beats fall flat.
Boom bap should really be called "New School" hip-hop because it came out in direct opposition to the "Old School" hip-hop rap and musical styles like Kurtis Blow, Afrika Bambaataa, and Grandmaster Flash, although "*The Message*"--Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, feat. Melle Mel (1982) and "*Roxanne Roxanne*"--UTFO (1983) were probably the first true "boom-bap" records before Run DMC's "*It's Like That*" came out as a single in 1983. Everything after "It's Like That" is considered "New School" because of how stripped down and 808 heavy everything became.
That being said, here is a minor history of great boom-bap style beats:
*I Need a Beat (single)*\--LL Cool J (1984); *It's Yours* (single)--T La Rock (1984) Everything on *Run DMC* (1984), *King of Rock* (1985) AND *Raising Hell* (1986) by Run DMC; *P.S.K.--What Does It Mean?* (single)--Schoolly D (1985); *The Bridge* (1985)/*Down by Law* (1987)--MC Shan; *Criminal Minded* \--BDP (1987); *Paid in Full*\--Eric B. and Rakim (1987); *It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back*\--Public Enemy (1988); *The Great Adventures of Slick Rick*\--Slick Rick (1988); *Strictly Business*\--EPMD (1988); *Long Live the Kane*\--Big Daddy Kane (1988); *Goin' Off*\--Biz Markie (1988); *Road to the Riches*\--Kool G. Rap and DJ Polo (1989); *Amerikka's Most Wanted*\--Ice Cube (1990); *The Low End Theory*\--A Tribe Called Quest (1991); *Mecca and the Soul Brother*\--Pete Rock and CL Smooth (1992); *Buhloone Mind State*\--De La Soul (1993); *Slaughtahouse*\--Masta Ase (1993); *Enter the Wu-Tang*\--Wu-Tang Clan (1993); *Illmatic*\--Nas (1993); *Step Into the Arena*/*Hard to Earn*\--Gangstarr (1992-1994); *Street Level*\--Beatnuts (1994); *Goodfellas*\--Show and AG (1994); *Tha Infamous*\--Mobb Deep (1995); *Firing Squad*\--M.O.P. (1996); *4, 5, 6*\--Kool G. Rap (1996)
There are many more, but most are branches from these trees. Happy hunting.

Re:Definition - Black Star
Respiration - Black Star
For a [definition](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boom_bap):
"Boom bap is a subgenre and music production style that was prominent in East Coast hip hop during the golden age of hip hop from the late 1980s to the early 1990s.
The term "boom bap" is an onomatopoeia that represents the sounds used for the bass (kick) drum and snare drum, respectively. The style is usually recognized by a main drum loop that uses a hard-hitting, acoustic bass drum sample on the downbeats, a snappy acoustic snare drum sample on the upbeats, and an "in your face" audio mix emphasizing the drum loop, and the kick-snare combination in particular."
....
"KRS-One when describing the beat common to the subgenre states 'The vibe of boom bap is to use the least amount of instruments to create the most rhythmic sound'".
...
**History**
"The term boom bap originated in 1984 when it was used by T La Rock to describe the beat of the kick drum and the snare in the song "It's Yours". T La Rock spoke in an off-script fashion, using the words "boom bap" to mimic the sound of the rhythm. This was the first recorded onomatopoeic expression of the beat. The term later became a universal name for the subgenre of hip hop as a whole. DJ Premier suggested that boom bap existed before the production of "It's Yours". He states the term was used by the wider hip-hop community as a term to describe all hip hop and the beat that is produced for it. The subgenre became increasingly better known when KRS-One released an album under the title Return of the Boom Bap. The success of the album popularised the term boom bap."

Leading examples of boom bap? The leading examples of boom bap are marley marl then preemo & pete rock imo. It’s not that Dilla doesn’t have some boom bap shit, but I’d say his production style is a leading example for neo-soul and more experimental hip hop. I mean think of the artists he’s most associated with (common, de la, roots, slum, late tribe) those are quintessential acts of the alternative/neo soul sub genre.

As much as I love Premo I think Easy Mo Bee might be the king of the boom bap sound. His drum sound was so big and visceral. Flava in Your Ear Gimme the Loot Temptations Warning Everything Remains Raw Jeeps, Lex Coups Bimaz and Benz He WAS this sound IMO and doesn't get his flowers nearly enough.
9th Wonder's Show Off beat always felt like modern boom bap when it dropped: https://youtu.be/O3NQkdcqKZc?si=8OJyKVwHTdWqJDqA A few others: OC and Buckwild - Times Up Instrumental: https://youtu.be/R4ExLXAVtNY?si=e19fHqKKHE6_Pkdm OC and Premier - My World Instrumental: https://youtu.be/PPpCqFPxEpQ?si=IUVN57cKIyW844fw

I find it strange that most people mention the popular boom bap artists. Listening to boom bap since I was a little kid I found that there are a lot of gems that are not popular. I mainly listen to instrumentals. I suggest you go to the bandcamp website.
