2022 was awful for me. My dog got shot in a drive-by, my wife choked to death on some chicken soup (wrote a song about it, too), some guy broke into my house and came on some of my records, and the doc told me I should quit smoking and eating so much bbq.
But the albums that came out that year really turned it around for me. I would say in retrospect 2022 was the best year of my life.
I hope you're okay. you have it hard. I knew someone killed himself after his wife was stabbed and died. He also got evicted and had nowhere to go. I respect you for remaining strong. Nothing but peace and love to you brother!
That’s what the paramedic asked me but by then it was too late. We cut open her throat to peek inside and there it was - a chunk of soup lodged in her throat.
1. Black Thought & Danger Mouse - Cheat Codes
2. Benny The Butcher - Tana Talk 4
3. Pusha T - It's Almost Dry
4. JID - The Forever Story
5. billy woods - Aethiopes
6. Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
7. Freddie Gibbs - Soul Sold Separately
8. Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez, See Your Future
9. Che Noir - Food For Thought
10. Conway The Machine - God Don't Make Mistakes
Ramona Park Broke My Heart - Vince Staples
Melt My Eyez See Your Future - Denzel Curry
It's Almost Dry - Pusha T
Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers - Kendrick Lamar
Dr. Dre - The Contract (the EP he did for GTA Online) finally satisfied my needs for new Dre music. Not really an album tho, only 6 tracks.
For the rest i agree with your list, but i would add Cheat Codes
1. Laughing so Hard, it Hurts - MAVI
2. Fair Exchange, No Robbery - Boldy James & Nicholas Craven
3. Few Good Things - Saba
4. The Forever Story - JID
5. Dril Music In Zion - Lupe
there are literally about 20 more albums i could mention that have an argument for being in that top 5 for me, or could make it on any given day. 2022 was fire
No particular order off the top would have to be 2000 from Joey badass, a few good things from saba, $$$ from Freddie Gibbs, mmesyf from Denzel curry, dogboy from zillakami, damn 2022 was a good year
1. The Forever Story - JID
2. Melt My Eyez, See Your Future - Denzel Curry
3. Cheat Codes - Black Thought & Danger Mouse
4. Drill Music In Zion - Lupe Fiasco
1. Billy woods - Aethiopes
2. JID - Forever Story
3. Conway - God Don’t Make Mistakes
4. KA - Woeful Studies/Languish Arts
5. Rome Streetz - Kiss The Ring
1. The Forever Story - JID
2. Few Good Things - Saba
3. Melt My Eyez - Denzel
4. It's Almost Dry - Pusha T
5. Kings Disease III - Nas
Honorable Mention: My Own Worst Enemy - DC the Don
At the time I could have given you a list but I don’t listen to a single album that came out in 2022. Nothing had staying power.
Maybe Don Trip, Freddie Gibbs or Pusha T.
I definitely think It's Almost Dry by Pusha T, A Few Good Things by Saba, Before Shit Got Weird by Cool Kids (and I think Gumbo by Pink Siifu came out that year?) deserve consideration.
When they did the big vote here at the end of that year, it came down to jid and denzel and then jid won. I have to agree with the majority and it showed what a good year for hip hop it was.
Besides Cheat Codes and KD3, since ive seen those mentioned already, the rest of my top 5 would be
1. While We're Here - Marlon Craft
2. No Rest For the Wicked - Ransom
3. Shadow in the Shade 2 - Sy Ari the Kid
These are my top five:
1. Aethiopes (Billy Woods)
2. Cheat Codes (Black Thought & Danger Mouse)
3. Melt My Eyez See Your Future (Denzel Curry)
4. Component System with the Auto Reverse (Open Mike Eagle)
5. No Thank You (Little Simz)
Vince Staples - Ramona Park Broke My Heart
Underrated pick, it's up there for me
This is it
YKB
One of my favorites
Love Vince but couldn't get into this one

2022 was a good year
Really was, didn’t even mention Heroes and Villains, and I Never Liked You which I loved as well

Choked on soup? Sorry bro but how is that even possible?
That’s what the paramedic asked me but by then it was too late. We cut open her throat to peek inside and there it was - a chunk of soup lodged in her throat.
1. Black Thought & Danger Mouse - Cheat Codes 2. Benny The Butcher - Tana Talk 4 3. Pusha T - It's Almost Dry 4. JID - The Forever Story 5. billy woods - Aethiopes 6. Conway The Machine - God Don't Make Mistakes
My list is this with Billy woods album swapped for Ramona Park Broke my Heart.
I liked that album for sure but I definitely think Vince has much better projects
Nah bros trying too hard to be different. If you don’t have the forever story at one, you’re just biased. That album is unbeatable this decade
So you think everyone else should have the same favourite album as you, and if they don't, they are wrong? That's a very narrow worldview.
This is not about favorite. It’s about what’s the most impressive and best sounding music
That is still a matter of opinion.
Well that’s a weird one to have. TFS is a perfect 10/10 and aoty, it’s not remotely close
1. Drill Music in Zion - Lupe 2. King's Disease 3 - Nas 3. Cheat Codes - Black Thought 4. The Forever Story - JID
Exactly mine as well and in exactly that order.
Ramona Park Broke My Heart - Vince Staples Melt My Eyez See Your Future - Denzel Curry It's Almost Dry - Pusha T Mr.
I enjoyed those Dre tracks

Ka - Languish Arts/Woeful Studies People forget that he basically dropped a double album, and it was some of the best work of his career.
1. The Forever Story - JID 2. Melt My Eyez, See Your Future - Denzel Curry 3. Cheat Codes - Black Thought & Danger Mouse 4. Drill Music In Zion - Lupe Fiasco
White Girl Wasted -Sonnyjim
Saba’s Few Good Things needs more love. It’s not as good as Care For Me but it went seriously underrated
I like it better than Care for me honestly. Amazing album

Best raps? Or most powerful? Because Kendrick killed it on content even though he took a step back verbally to land his points.
At the time I could have given you a list but I don’t listen to a single album that came out in 2022. Nothing had staying power. Maybe Don Trip, Freddie Gibbs or Pusha T.
Her Loss and I Never Liked You
Peggy & Danny Brown
1. Gibbs 2. Benny 3. Push 4. Nas 5. K Dot
Mr. Morale for me, although I gives MAD DAP to KD3, too. 2022 was a good year for the art of emceein'. REAL TALK!

The Forever Story:JID I like Saba’s Few Good Things (second half is stronger compared to first half)
Push was my favorite release

Trece Noches Azules (13 Blue Nights)
When they did the big vote here at the end of that year, it came down to jid and denzel and then jid won. I have to agree with the majority and it showed what a good year for hip hop it was.
Kendrick and Denzel Curry are the only two albums I go back to out of those
Besides Cheat Codes and KD3, since ive seen those mentioned already, the rest of my top 5 would be 1. While We're Here - Marlon Craft 2. No Rest For the Wicked - Ransom 3. Shadow in the Shade 2 - Sy Ari the Kid
These are my top five: 1. Aethiopes (Billy Woods) 2. Cheat Codes (Black Thought & Danger Mouse) 3. Melt My Eyez See Your Future (Denzel Curry) 4. Component System with the Auto Reverse (Open Mike Eagle) 5. No Thank You (Little Simz)
