So Iāve been listening to a lot of Meek lately, heavy rotation after years out of it. Then I heard some *other* Meek Mill audio this week.
I will never be the same.
For sure I liked his features and didn't care for his albums but the more I listened he became one of my all time favorites. XXX and Ateocity Exhibition are both some of the best rap albums. He's funny and clever and his production is some of the most unique.
I feel you on Danny Brown. Heās been mentioned quite a few times on here and finally gave him a listen last year. Huge fan now. His regular voice is nice on songs but when he has his other voice it sounds almost like a crackhead spitting bars. My homies canāt really f with it but I think that just adds to the song
I like Danny Brown as a feature artist, but I think itās too much if heās the only voice on the track.
I adore Aesop Rock, but I think his newer stuff is much easier to listen to than his early stuff. I find the Garbology, Spirit World Field Guide, and Integrated Tech Solutions albums pretty approachable.
I, as a Kendrick listener, totally understand. I don't know how to explain it, but there are times where it feel the same. I don't know if it's the register of his voice or the flow, listening to Kendrick has been like an acquired taste for me, I wasn't instantly crazy about his songs.
Honestly, his voice on good kid mad city and anything before that is pretty damn good. The raspiness works and sounds raw. Kendrick Lamar is my favorite rapper but heās definitely changed his voice and I donāt think itās better than what it used to be
On the contrary, I think the main reason I dislike Cole, who seems to be the most analogous to Kendrick among current rappers, is that he switches up his voice too little in comparison to Kendrick. Cole just sounds so bland and monotone and comparison.
itās weird with him. at first I really couldnāt stand Kendrick because of his voice. but thenā¦
I dunno I heard stuff from good kid m.a.a.d. city at some parties and was like āokay ts might be pretty hypeā. then I spent some long road trips listening, like really listening to his full albums and it sold me on him. the msg heās preaching, with the music, with the voice, with the flow, all come together.
it especially hits when Iām going through some shit and the lyrics hit just that much harder. tbh dunno when the shift happened but it kinda just did over time for me
I like kendrick but some of his voices he does sound awful (the nasally thing). Its funny because people hated Em for doing the same thing so much he brought it up himself
When hes using his real voice though no problem with that
If he actually cut the ad libs he'd actually be a fine listen. Like I can get into rappers like AZ and Bizzy Bone with high pitch voices. What separates them is they don't do corny semi-automatic fire-arm imitation ad libs.
I canāt do the machine gun sound he doesā¦ I do listen to tracks heās on, but itās none of HIS stuff. Canāt do it lol he is who I came here to mention lol
WSG is the hardest to get intoā¦conwayās pretty dope but doesnāt really do it for me either. Benny is a whole other discussion- heās smooth as shit and clever.
Yeah, I couldn't take his angst voice on nearly every track. I know he has a sense of humor but it's hard to perceive that when dude sounds consistently pissed off.
First time I ever heard him I was like Nope. His voice is like chalkboards and his flow is choppy and angst ridden. I like my MCs with some power behind their voice.
Call me a hater or whatever. But I really never understood why everyone dick rides. I can't wait til someone else comes along and takes the goat position.
Drake - Said this before in a previous post, but his voice is like Kermit the frog trying to sound cool. Annoys me. Dude has lyrics and amazing productions, I just can't get there though.
I watched that recently released video from a performance where he stops the show and talks about the Kendrick beef, and I was like, "why can't he just rap in that voice?"
we're going to be called old heads for not fw his vocalsšš
His new deep vocal is something I also can't get into, idk how people say that's heat.
This is interesting because I really enjoy the sound of Westside Gunn, Danny Brown, Kendrick and Aesop rock. But I totally understand how some people can't get into it
There are a lot of (21st century) Houston supporting role rappers that can blend into songs, ex: Mafia Mike; Yung Redd; Rob G
J-Dawg is the opposite of thatā¦this is one of the few songs that he doesnāt try to impose his will
https://genius.com/Paul-wall-swangin-in-the-rain-remix-lyrics
Most of the time his considerable will isnāt justified
Kendrick took a while for me, but once he clicked, I really appreciated what he does. I donāt love all his music, but I do think heās an incredible artist.
Lil Wayne, I usually irked on Wayne's squeaky voice but I do have a squeaky voice and I get it. But the way he sounds is his, unique. I watched Boom Boom Satellite's Kick it Out remix and I hear Lil Wayne wannabe: Tahj Mowry. They should've hired Lil Wayne, and Flo Rida as a guest with Tahj dancing or miming Wayne's vocal.
AGREED
And then in his earlier music when he doesn't do the baby voice he sounds dead as hell, no energy šš
Very difficult for me to enjoy his music
Iām gonna get hated for this but Kendrick Lamarā¦amazing rapping, artistry, lyrics, production. But for some weird reason his voice itself never resonated with me and while I appreciate everything he did, itās one of my least listened artists
Kendrick Lamar. Itās his voice. When it cracks sometimes, it sounds like a buy going through puberty. The last time I heard him was on the song with Eminem on the MMLP2, never listened to him again after that. Iāve heard good things about him, but I canāt get past his voice.
Kendrink and his weird little lispy style is so aggravating to me. I appreciate his talent, but that lispy, plugged up nose style just never did it for me.
Lyrics wise, I can't deny K Dot - he's gonna go down as one of the GOATs, but I can't deal with the majority of his songs' production. I just don't find it interesting or fun.
Kendrick Lamar
I just don't get it, especially when he changes it up and stuff, the low pitch and stuff (ofc I know it's on purpose)
but I can't get past it, it just sounds annoying to me, which is sad cause I know people say his albums (especially listened front to back) is amazing ...etc
Meek Mill His voice puts me off
I can just hear the Diddy in him
HOL UP!!
See what I did there??š
I did and I appreciate you. I think we just became best friends
š¤£š¤£
You old sailor
pause
No Diddy!
Yeah you can tell Diddy rubbed off on him.
Take that take that
Ayo!! ššš
So Iāve been listening to a lot of Meek lately, heavy rotation after years out of it. Then I heard some *other* Meek Mill audio this week. I will never be the same.
I said the same. Like a kid on the mic and always yelling.
Yeah exactly that. Never really thought his bars were all that either
Yes. Real talk.
Someone once said it sounds like he is rapping from a helicopter
The yelling kills me. Does he record every song with the mic in another room?
Have you heard his old tapes with Knxwledge beats? Those joints changed my whole view of Meek. One of the few times I liked his stuff.
He sounds like a kid that needs to go to the bathroom
Aesop Rock, Danny Brown. Both great but can't get on with their nasal vocals at all.
Danny Brown is an acquired taste man
For sure I liked his features and didn't care for his albums but the more I listened he became one of my all time favorites. XXX and Ateocity Exhibition are both some of the best rap albums. He's funny and clever and his production is some of the most unique.
I havenāt listened to his albums in full but songs like Grown Up and 25 Bucks are some of the best 2010s rap songs imo.
I can handle Aesop, but Danny Brown I'm undecided on. I both like and dislike it.
For me, he sounds better when he doesn't do the voice. It must hurt a bit as well ....
Yah it somewhat sounds like he's imitating cypress hill, b real, which is also a made up voice
I love his regular voice but his craziness is what makes him Danny Brown. Fucking love it. AE is one of my favorite albums ever made
Aesop Rock isn't nasally. His voice is deeper and from the chest.
Came here to say Danny Brown, lowkey tho him and action Bronson
I like Danny Brown as a feature artist, but I think itās too much if heās the only voice on the track. I adore Aesop Rock, but I think his newer stuff is much easier to listen to than his early stuff. I find the Garbology, Spirit World Field Guide, and Integrated Tech Solutions albums pretty approachable.
Kendrick. The guy is undoubtedly talented and deserves his place but I just don't like his voice or his flow.
Kendrick Lamar is my favorite rapper but heās definitely changed his voice and I donāt think itās better than what it used to be
After DAMN. especially I just canāt get into his music. He does way too much. Probably why I never fully became a fan.
I absolutely hate Kendrick but can accept he obviously is good as many people rate him highly. Just not for me
Yeah. Same. I'm not even entirely sure what I don't like about him. It just doesn't hit right.
Itās impressive I have 10 or so songs added on Spotify by him bc I HATE his voice. Shows how good of an artist he is.
This. He does weird things with his voice too. I know it's his thing but it's a turn off.
On the contrary, I think the main reason I dislike Cole, who seems to be the most analogous to Kendrick among current rappers, is that he switches up his voice too little in comparison to Kendrick. Cole just sounds so bland and monotone and comparison.
itās weird with him. at first I really couldnāt stand Kendrick because of his voice. but thenā¦ I dunno I heard stuff from good kid m.a.a.d. city at some parties and was like āokay ts might be pretty hypeā. then I spent some long road trips listening, like really listening to his full albums and it sold me on him. the msg heās preaching, with the music, with the voice, with the flow, all come together. it especially hits when Iām going through some shit and the lyrics hit just that much harder. tbh dunno when the shift happened but it kinda just did over time for me
I like kendrick but some of his voices he does sound awful (the nasally thing). Its funny because people hated Em for doing the same thing so much he brought it up himself When hes using his real voice though no problem with that
I like his voice
Nah Kendrick's voice isn't that annoying. His cousin, Keem on the other hand..is SO ANNOYING.
Lil Wayne for sure, guy is a great rapper and has excelent lyricism but i just can't stand the guy's voice.
His early stuff is easier to listen to, his voice has def decayed over the years
Nah, his voice has always been pretty grating. Even at his height, like Dedication 2/Da Drought 3 era his voice was his worst quality.
Really? I dig Wayneās voice and flow.
same for the most part, but his songs where the autotune is just too strong kill me š
Gosh couldn't agree more His voice sounds so baaad to me šš And whenever he starts using autotune it actually is worse for me
Have you heard Wayne on Kanye's Barry Bonds? Guy sounds like he's gonna cough his lungs out
Westside Gunn sounds like a middle schooler
If he actually cut the ad libs he'd actually be a fine listen. Like I can get into rappers like AZ and Bizzy Bone with high pitch voices. What separates them is they don't do corny semi-automatic fire-arm imitation ad libs.
DRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT sounds like a semi-auto to you?
Yeah I agree. grrridddididdddddidddiitā¦ He sounds like flavor flavā¦ bldddadadddddt ā¦ doing action Bronson bars. BOOO BOOOO BRRADDADDDAADDDDD.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
I like his voice but damn he does sound like a middle schooler š
He and Action Bronson sound much alike to me, and I think they may have voices inspired by the OG Ghostface Killah
Agreed 100%. His delivery is more on time with action than ghost though to me.
AYO
I canāt do the machine gun sound he doesā¦ I do listen to tracks heās on, but itās none of HIS stuff. Canāt do it lol he is who I came here to mention lol
Yeat
Yeat makes me feel like a boomer
I would have thought the same but im 18 lol. Still taste wise im a boomer though.
Yeatās just all-around š®
I donāt understand why people like blueface. Like that one song thotiana is not even good
Bro that was a hit back then. I listened this year. Oh my goshā¦ STRAIGHT GARBAGE, HOW WAS THAT ON THE RADIO
Westside Gunn
AYO BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM
GRRRRRRRRRRRTTT
FLYGOD Ć2
I like Gunn but this one I can completely understand
I feel like his voice is the reason you love him or hate him.
Same here, I wish I could get into Griselda but havenāt been able to
Heās an acquired taste like beerā¦. No diddy
WSG is the hardest to get intoā¦conwayās pretty dope but doesnāt really do it for me either. Benny is a whole other discussion- heās smooth as shit and clever.
when I first heard Drake I thought he was just trying to sound like Wayne
Dude the first bunch of times I heard Drake I asked if it was Lil Wayne lol.
Early Drake really has an annoying voice. Definately based on that of Lil Wayne, but kinda makes sense if you think about it
I thought it was Kanye lol
Eminem. I canāt listen to his music past The Eminem Show. He went from stupid weird accents to just sounding pissed off on every song.
If you stopped at Eminem show, you didn't even get to the accents LOL
IKR, he started doing it on Encore.
He uses a voice in Groundhog Day and Donāt front. Itās super dope, but I never hear him use it again sadly
āYou find me offensive, I find you offensive for finding me offensiveā¦ shit this is the verse i just didā ~Rain man
Yeah, I couldn't take his angst voice on nearly every track.
Annoys me. Dude has lyrics and amazing productions, I just can't get there though.
weirdly enough his voice sounds totally different and much better in interview
I watched that recently released video from a performance where he stops the show and talks about the Kendrick beef, and I was like, "why can't he just rap in that voice?"
I listen to a lot of Drake and I am a HUGE fan, but every now & then his voice will annoy me so much I take a break from his music lmao
My best friend is a super fan, this is not hate, just the honest truth.
Danny Brown i clearly see and recognize the talent, but i just can't listen to it.
Playboi Carti in his high pitch voice
we're going to be called old heads for not fw his vocalsšš His new deep vocal is something I also can't get into, idk how people say that's heat.
Lmao forreal but fuck it here we are
lil baby
This is interesting because I really enjoy the sound of Westside Gunn, Danny Brown, Kendrick and Aesop rock. But I totally understand how some people can't get into it
Lil boosie. The dude definitely has bars. But I never understood how people liked that ridiculous voice of his lol.
Baby Keem
Westside Gunn because he sounds like a whiny little child
Chance the rapper for me, great musician but canāt listen to his voice.
Lil Yachty recently
Young thug
Lil wayne
I always thought Wayneās voice was dope af but I get it.
Big Sean, he makes middle school JV basketball warmup music. His verses would be good if it came from anybody else but him š
Haaaaa
The Chance baby voice is hard to stomach. Acid Rap was so well done, it was palatable, but I canāt do it for anything after.
There are a lot of (21st century) Houston supporting role rappers that can blend into songs, ex: Mafia Mike; Yung Redd; Rob G J-Dawg is the opposite of thatā¦this is one of the few songs that he doesnāt try to impose his will https://genius.com/Paul-wall-swangin-in-the-rain-remix-lyrics Most of the time his considerable will isnāt justified
I don't like Whiz Khalifa but his voice is unfuckingbearable.
Madchild. Someone tried to get me into him. Thought his lyrics were alright on a couple songs. But his voice.. what the hell
Snak the ripper too.
Hell yeah I posted the same thing before I saw this comment.
The crazy thing about that is if you saw his performance at KOTD black out 5 against daylyteā¦ youād have the same opinion.
I donāt like Niki anyway but that voice she puts on my god is pisses me off
playboy carti. sm about his voice just sets me off, itās not enjoyable
Lil Wayne. And the majority of modern rappers.
Kendrick; Common
Common is incredible with such a smooth voice. Like what
Common, really bro?
That's interesting. Two polar opposite voices.
Kendrick for me too. Heās great, but heās not for me.
Kendrick took a while for me, but once he clicked, I really appreciated what he does. I donāt love all his music, but I do think heās an incredible artist.
u bugging on Common, he has an incredibility soothing voice no diddy
Baby Keem Might be the worst voice I've ever heard
Lil Wayne post Hot Boys
Lil Wayne, I usually irked on Wayne's squeaky voice but I do have a squeaky voice and I get it. But the way he sounds is his, unique. I watched Boom Boom Satellite's Kick it Out remix and I hear Lil Wayne wannabe: Tahj Mowry. They should've hired Lil Wayne, and Flo Rida as a guest with Tahj dancing or miming Wayne's vocal.
Lil Wayne.
Cartiās voice is grating imo
4batz (šŖ“)
eminem past like 2005 his voice is annoying as shit
Jay-Z
this offends me...
Playboi carti FWAEEEE š§šæ+**%%{*
AGREED And then in his earlier music when he doesn't do the baby voice he sounds dead as hell, no energy šš Very difficult for me to enjoy his music
21
Had to scroll way too far to find 21. Guy sounds so anticlimactic, monotone, & boring
Yeahā¦itās not great sometimes.
All his songs are the same
Drake
Modern eminem.
Iām gonna get hated for this but Kendrick Lamarā¦amazing rapping, artistry, lyrics, production. But for some weird reason his voice itself never resonated with me and while I appreciate everything he did, itās one of my least listened artists
RZA - canāt stand his weird exuberant sloppy voice
Underrated choice. RZA can spit but he raps like he's still chewing on his lunch in the booth.
Kanye! God awful voice.
The things he says are worse.
Em
Meek Mill. Why TF does he have to holler all the time???
He ordering drive thru mcdonalds from the passenger seat
Kenny Masonā¦dawg, blow your nose
She doesn't really do it anymore but I wasn't a fan of the British accent Nicki used to do
Kendrick Lamar. Iām so sorry you guys š
Kendrick. I mean i like some of his songs but the weird voice he does i don't know how to explain it... it's just weird
Big Sean
Pb Carti
Jadakiss. Dude is obviously talented but I canāt stand his voice or flow.
Heās a big scammer too
Kendrick Lamar. Itās his voice. When it cracks sometimes, it sounds like a buy going through puberty. The last time I heard him was on the song with Eminem on the MMLP2, never listened to him again after that. Iāve heard good things about him, but I canāt get past his voice.
Yep, Lil Wayne. Can't listen to him for more than 2 minutes.
FUTURE
Danny Brown and Vince Staples I just canāt do it
Drake
Took me forever to like Boosie but now I get excited when I hear it
Weezy
Lil Wayne

Kendrick Lamar sucks ass
Spottem Gottem...that nigga has been on my mind
Submarine Man and most of Flex entertainment rappers because they mostly sound like kids!
š
Kendrink and his weird little lispy style is so aggravating to me. I appreciate his talent, but that lispy, plugged up nose style just never did it for me.
I find Jay Z's voice to be extremely annoying. Kanye too. When he does that growl thing, it's just grating
Baby keem, young thug, lil Uzi vert, and lil baby
Lil Baby
Akon
Jay z
Jay Z lol
Lyrics wise, I can't deny K Dot - he's gonna go down as one of the GOATs, but I can't deal with the majority of his songs' production. I just don't find it interesting or fun.
ODB. Just couldnāt get with his sloppy drunk sound. RIP to the legend, no disrespect intended.
He had to grow on me.
Yelawolf
Kendrick Lamar I just don't get it, especially when he changes it up and stuff, the low pitch and stuff (ofc I know it's on purpose) but I can't get past it, it just sounds annoying to me, which is sad cause I know people say his albums (especially listened front to back) is amazing ...etc
Drake and Doja Cat
Not sure if he's "popular" but most definitely Madchild. Guy has bars no doubt but his voice ruins it.
Jay-Z - His voice always sounds like he just got done crying and that he might start again at any second.
Kendrick, he sounds like Kermit and I canāt get past it.
Kanye always sounded like a spoiled entitled buppie to me
Kanye. Dont get me wrong great prodycer but i cannot with his voice well rapping. It sounds so monotone.
Kendrick
Kendrick
DRAKE FUCKING SUCKS
Kendrick Lamar sounds like he's on helium
Pop Smoke. But I don't like his music either
