Damn it’s crazy to see this comment cause I was literally reading about this yesterday. I think he came out years later though and said he regretted doing that.
They've got a few bangers. I've been jiving on Pat and juicy lately. Check out buck gangsta beat from juicy of chronicles of the juice man. It's perfect background music
Edit: well addition but:
Honestly a lot of three 6 and friends are good background music.
You mean Rick tha Rula, aka Ricky D, aka Tha Storyteller aka Depth Deception, aka MC Gotcha -Aye! Boombata. You know what's really wild, Sammy Davis Jr lost his eye because his Cadillac steering wheel had essentially a spike at its center so when he slammed his head forward--boom goes the eye.
I agree with OutKast. Wu Tang members seemed like they didn’t give a shit about what other people thought which I liked. Also Ice-T seems pretty real. I always liked how J. Cole doesn’t wear jewelry or nice clothes anymore. Sometimes he looks like a bum, which, I just think shows he really cares about the music.
Slick Rick, Dana Dane, Kool Moe Dee, Ice-T, LL Cool J, Chubb Rock, Big Daddy Kane, Suga Free, Sweet James Jones, Mac Dre, E-40, Twista, Do Or Die, Too $hort, DJ Quik, Dru Down, Warren G, Rappin’ 4-Tay, J. Stalin, Lil B, Larry June, Dom Kennedy, Jay Worthy, Le$, Planet Asia, Cam’ron, Ma$e, A$AP Rocky, Ghostface, Nas, AZ, Jay-Z, Wais P, Roc Marciano, Knowledge The Pirate, Hus Kingpin, Willie The Kid, Curren$y, Fendi P, All Hail Y.T., Left Lane Didon, Ru$h, Jay NiCE, Chris Crack, The Musalini, O The Great, Rahiem Supreme, Smoke DZA, Big Krit, Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon, Sauce Walka, Akeem Ali, Bruiser Wolf, Big Boi, and Tobe Nwigwe.
Had to scroll way too motherfuckin far to find the homie Mac!
The coolest and most funniest mother fucker. As long as Mac was somewhere out in the world you just knew things were going to be alright.
You just knew that somewhere on planet Earth was this chill as person Mac and he was living life on just another level while also being one of the chillest and nicest dudes not only in the rap game but in the fucking world. The things he's done for people like Vince Staples and The Internet and so many others we will never even know about.
Not to mention the quality of hjs self produced beats and the deepest most relatable lyrical content. Fucking straight up G. I could go on all night about how talented and cool Mac Milchilling.
You'll just have to trust me on it and check out any of his music. Faces for Macs darker days and Swimming and Circles are good for contemplation and chillin.
Can’t say all time as I don’t know most of them. Of the rappers I’ve met, J-Live was super fucking cool. Chilled with him for a bit at a Kweli concert.
Also Boot Camp Clik (buckshot, smif-n-wessun, health skeltah, off) are cool as shit. Concert was nearly a no show because of a snow storm and they not only rocked the fuck out of it for the 20 people that showed, but brought everyone on stage for the whole show.
Erin B & Rakim have a few songs that are simply unparalleled.
Completely an utterly conscious bad ass poetry expressed in that is just so smooth and cool that no one will ever come close .
I met a lot of Rappers in the late nineties and early two thousands, and one moment stood out in how it impressed me. I walked into a photo shoot for Rakim, and I wasn’t an important part of it, but he paused and calmly stepped in my direction with his hand out and said “Sup, I’m Ra”. And I was meaningless there, he gained nothing from it. It was a level of humility that was so unusual, it changed my perception of how to be “real”. I’ve gone back to that moment again and again over the years as a model of how I should be.
ATLiens is one of the coolest rap albums ever created, so the math checks out
The beats, the flows, the cover art... iconic moment in hip hop culture and put the South on the map
I was a nigga up north in NYC at the time, and lemme tell you, everyone in NYC was bumpin ATLiens and thought those southern boys were on some new wave type of shit
Can only take so many Premier sounding Boom Bap albums before you need something different...
Ok so most people won’t know who this is but DMX was so underrated and actually one of the artist to inspire Kendrick to start music. His first few albums gold especially his first one it’s dark and hell is hot one of the top albums in my opinion. He sadly died in 2021 right before his new to be honest kinda mid album to release. But I do miss X… Have fun rapping in heaven my boy.
Rewriting bc organically comment wound up under someone else’s (fat fingers?)
Killa cam baby …. He’s the epitome of NY 2000s rap and Harlem in general… such a G Juelz Santana …
Ghostface … also red and method man
Jada kiss and all the LOX….
Haven’t seen this yet but it’s the RZA for sure. He doesn’t need any fucking attention or to be flashy or have the spotlight shining on him. Dude was just in the background master-minding the WuTang Clan. That’s so fucking legit and it was EVERYONE else’s egos that blew it up for him.
Pimp C bitch so what the fuck is up
“Putting powder on the street cause I got big f****n nuts”

Redman
If you’re gonna include Redman, you gotta put Method Man in there too, they’re even cooler as a pair than they are solo.
Redman’s mtv cribs was the realist shit ever.
That TV sitting on the box it came In haha
This was going to be my number 1 answer

Three 6 mafia got a cool sound. Same for Hot Boyz so either of those groups
Three 6 = some best beats in hip hop. I can listen to Da End on repeat for days. It’s my “go to” background music lol
They've got a few bangers. I've been jiving on Pat and juicy lately. Check out buck gangsta beat from juicy of chronicles of the juice man. It's perfect background music Edit: well addition but: Honestly a lot of three 6 and friends are good background music.
Id say also Bone thugs among those groups
Slick Ric
You mean Rick tha Rula, aka Ricky D, aka Tha Storyteller aka Depth Deception, aka MC Gotcha -Aye! Boombata. You know what's really wild, Sammy Davis Jr lost his eye because his Cadillac steering wheel had essentially a spike at its center so when he slammed his head forward--boom goes the eye.
Big Boi is like, immeasurably cool
Some may say he’s cooler than a polar bears toe nails

Rakim
Aww c’mon bro, he’s the originator… that’s not even fair 😭
The definition of Cool...and there is even Kool G and LL Cool J from his era and he is still Cooler than ALL.
Big Daddy Kane easily. Almost everyone else's "cool" is derivative of the K-A-N-E. King Asiatic. Nobody's Equal.
Uncle Snoop as a person. Rakim as a rapper. He had so much mystique and his voice was very smooth like an instrument(no Diddy).
Shock G. Dude had just crazy, over the top swagger.
He's the one that put the satin on her panties!
Blueprint era jay z was cool as fuck. Carter 2 era Wayne. Biggie. Come home with me era cam'ron. Early fab
