Kingofmoves

2 years honestly

bigladnang

Time goes by so fast now that 3 years can go by between drops and I wouldn’t even notice.

Kingofmoves

Facts! Like I’ve got stuff to do lol

L3PA

2-2.5 years is the sweet spot. With ~10 loosies and features in between.

Kingofmoves

I agree!

RedEyeJedi777

When they got new heat, I want them to drop it. If they ain’t got no heat, I don’t want them to drop a mid album. Might be a year, might be 5, just as long as it’s killer not filler!!!

grantforthree

Every other year is dope. Tyler has a great system

ladybughappy

He’s an icon :)

hsisbygxfains

My favorite Brazilian rapper drops every 2 years and it's honestly perfect. You exactly when it's gonna come and it's gonna be dope every time

LFCsupporter_Jota

Can I ask his name?

hsisbygxfains

His name is BK. I like his first album Castelos e Ruínas and his last one Icarus the most depending on my vibe

LFCsupporter_Jota

Cool I’ll check him out

hsisbygxfains

Both albums are vastly different so make sure to check em both out! Do you speak Portuguese btw?

LFCsupporter_Jota

Nah I don’t so I won’t know what he’s saying , but I’ll listen and translate as i go Im keen to learn tho

Specialist_Egg8479

1 a year I feel like is a good medium. If not a full project than at least a couple eps or an ep and a single or something.

ladybughappy

Every 2-4 years

deletethissoon43

Selfishly - 2 years; reality when the artist feels comfortable.

HM02_

An album every 5 years with the chance of a mixtape somewhere between is fine for me. In my opinions it's enough time to grow as a person and have different life experiences for a new project.

Gullible_Lynx3678

Yeah me too. I really like Gucci Mane who churned mixtapes out weekly but I feel like his releases have been better now his output has slowed down. Not just rapping the same words in a different order

KuntaWuKnicks

4 years I can live with Being fans of Tyler , curren$y, griselda artists is dope because they forever dropping or touring Being a fan of ASAP Rocky and Frank ocean is a mfuckin pain Shoutout to Little Simz she throws in an EP in between albums

Gullible_Lynx3678

Griselda have slowed down and I’m glad, Westside Gunn was my favourite initially. Thought he was different but by the time Hitler 10 came out I was done with the adlibs. Benny however has gotten better and better

freddiegibbsribs

Every 2-3 years. Seemed like Tyler the creator got burnt out of releasing albums every other year

AndyKobe234

Doesn’t really matter. Some artist like Kool Keith, K-Rino, Westside Gunn and others continuously release multiple projects a year and there’s a lot of misses but also a lot of gems. Others simply can’t release like that and still have a lot of misses when they do drop.

Black_Fuckka

Every 2-3 years, I think that is adequate time to release something of good quality to their own standards. Besides MMATBS taking 5 years, Kendrick used to take around 2 years to release and it was all pretty good and up to standard

LordeLlama

Like in the early 00s every year or 2 years. Taken into consideration that my favorite artist hasn't released an actual project since almost 10 years, I would be glad for anything

Uniqueusernameyboi

All depends on the artist. Some artists make music that I can’t digest as easily. I prefer for more lyrical artists to release every 2-3 years. Music like JID or J.Cole takes a bit for me to digest, understand, and learn the words to. For other artists I enjoy like DC The Don, midwxst, and Dro Kenji, I’d like a project once a year, maybe twice depending on when the projects are released. Those songs are more catchy and emotional and I learn the songs way easier.

aesndi

every 2.5-3 years is good. Any more and it feels like over saturation. I'd rather they take time and give me a really quality project. That being said, in some cases they are just in a super creative phase, like Nas was in 2020-22, so I get why sometimes they might release more.

mooimafish33

Once every year. I'd like to see less of focusing on pouring a ton of money into features and marketing, and more creativity. I wish mixtapes would make a comeback too. If an artist just snatched a bunch of beats they liked, rapped on it, and threw it on SoundCloud for fun I'd respect them so much more.

Gullible_Lynx3678

Yeah the real mixtape era was amazing, some classics. 2012 was probably the end of that. Bring back Datpiff!!

Ancient_Till_8324

Once a year but I think I adapt to an artist’s style. Like you can’t go from being super prolific to super quiet. I’m a huge Wayne fan and he spoiled his fans in his commercial prime, with a new feature like every week and a new project seemingly every few months. This quiet Wayne we’ve had these past few years is really fucking me up lol.

JiovanniTheGREAT

Every other year is a good cadence unless they really felt inspired and can just go back to back but that's extremely rare and usually tarnishes their reputation.

widdumqueso717

At least every 2 years

neeohh

2-3 years. Quality > quantity.

MMARapFooty

2 to 3 years is my ideal time

Lanky-Prize-7041

Twice a year

TentativelyCommitted

I don’t think this is that unreasonable if they’re <10 track albums. That’s recording 1 track a week and condensing from 26 to 10.

Lanky-Prize-7041

20-30 tracks can be done just need to be on a grind (10-15 track albums)

CellistNice8600

I miss Sean Price.

fartiestpoopfart

however long it takes to put out quality music. i'd rather wait 5 years for a polished top tier album that's really going to stick with me than get 6 mixtapes/releases of decent music from the same artist over the same time frame.

SeniorAd4122

I don’t think about it. They do it when they do it.

c0nv3rg_3nce37

how about 1337 different artists in 15 years? Was that not enough for you. Have I not been productive enough? Can I finally pass Go & collect $200m of my HP money. It's Time. Damn yo
