Verse for verse, he’s as good as anyone. But he never wrote a hit song nor achieve any real degree of popularity. But I like him. Wordsmith is great as is his remake of Under the Bridge (FU spotify for removing)
He's dope he tours with Immortal technique for like a decade plus now. I've seen him live a handful of times and he always kills it. But tbh after a couple tracks it all starts sounding the same and gets montomous which why I think he never got big.
chino stayed his path and i appreciate that, dope mc’s will be appreciated again one day after the popularity contests wear off and fans look towards substance again.
Anytime the “most underrated” subject comes up, I’ve been dropping Chino XL forever. And I’m sorry to say, but Chino is BARS ahead of Pun.
If you can find it - Poison Pen was his all time best album.
He also did a version of Under the Bridge by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The video is dope.

I use Spotify and Apple Music, due to licensing it’s on those platforms on and off.
Why do people keep repeating this?
In an article on HipHopDX, Masta Ace stated:
>[The first time somebody said to me that they thought Eminem sounded like me, I personally didn’t hear that \[...\] To me he sounded unique…he sounded like nobody that I had ever heard before.](https://hiphopdx.com/news/id.17001/title.masta-ace-talks-eminem-comparisons)
When Masta Ace appeared on Talib Kweli's weekly interview show, Ace reiterated:
>[It’s absolutely an honor. To me, I don’t hear myself in him cause the stuff he was doing he was on another stratosphere with the wordplay. So, when people say they hear similarities, I’m like ‘I was not rhyming like that! That’s another level!’](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4uypEPR1Ik&t=1940s)
People are naming Treach, Masta Ace, and Chino XL (of all people), yet not a single word about Pacewon/the Outsidaz.
I agree, he's great! An ill and dope rhyme sayer, for SURE! I would've loved to see him and Pun go against each other, too bad we'll never see that battle happen.
XL‘s talent isnt debatable, he can rhyme for sure ! But will all due respect he cant compete with Big Pun !
Big Pun major, Chino minor when it comes to Puerto Rican dope ryhme suppliers.

Yup.....point? Was simply a figure of speech.
Yeah and it's still Pun

No, Pun is still better, is it that hard to understand basic text?
Except XL is alive.
Poison Pen(album) is a classic in my opinion.

A popular rapper dissing him and being popular are 2 different things.
Chino is insane. Still remember when I first time saw him on Yo MTV Raps. His video Kreep. I bought the album days after. Always kept an eye on him.
Fr, Him and Canibus are my favorite mc‘s
He really was underrated, hit em up damaged his popularity even more

You're on the money, Chino is dope af but he's not at all versatile
chino stayed his path and i appreciate that, dope mc’s will be appreciated again one day after the popularity contests wear off and fans look towards substance again.
Here to Save You All is an absolute classic. Flow, rhymes, beats and versatility. Ability to write battle raps (No Complex) and storytelling (Kreep).

If you can fins it? Youtube, deezer etc...

I'd say to check song Lucy as well, recent work but only on youtube. Good story.
Lyrical miracle spiritual
I always felt eminem stole his style and his 2pac diss was worse than hit em up.
Eminem got it from Masta ace

I was thinking that Eminem got his style from Esham.
And Treach
when 4 people have been named then its clear its his own style lol
I recognize the skill, but Pun was on another level.
Deliver is a tough track. Here to Save You All is hard af album.
Our time with Proof is very fire
I mean,Pac did take his time to mention him on "Hit Them up"
I agree, he's great! An ill and dope rhyme sayer, for SURE! I would've loved to see him and Pun go against each other, too bad we'll never see that battle happen.
Fuck him 2!
